[ OUTSIDE- AROUND THE FENCE ] (EMOTION: CONFUSION) Outside the fence is a little too close to the fog. It is extremely disorienting, as the fog calls out to you. Sometimes you see faces, shapes, sometimes actual form of people. It temps and tantalizes you and drives you insane. Sometimes, instead of seeing a humanoid shape, you just see a set of eyes and teeth that are way too large for any human gazing at you, immediately turning away as you stare directly at it, always followed by a series of footsteps.
Cecil had made his way outside to have a breather from the hospital. Just a moment before he kept looking. Maybe if luck was in his favor Hitsu would be outside but first glance turned up nothing. Not that he expected it to be so easy. She certainly wouldn't be waiting at the door with her arms crossed and upset that he had left her all alone. Alone but still safe. He could hope. He wanted to hope.
He only paused when he came to the fence though he noticed how dangerously close to the fog it was. It looked like someone or something was moving around in the mist but he couldn't make anything out for sure. He stared, focused, at the little movement he saw until it looked like the fog split, opening up a large gash in the darkness to reveal teeth and eyes. Cecil turned away then his heart racing. Was there no where in this place he could feel safe for just a few moments?

Brie was still searching for Cecil with Rook when they finally made their way outside of the hospital. After hearing the state the big guy was in, she was determined more than ever to be sure he was okay.
Gesturing for Rook to follow her out, heading towards the fence line. As if on cue, the larger male was spotted in the distance, though it was hard to see he was doing from where they stood. "There he is!" She called back to Rook, making her way towards Cecil, but careful not to spook him.
As she got close enough, Brie slowed her steps, calling out. "Cecil, are you okay?"

When Brie announced she had found him, Rook perked up, looking immediately to where she gestured. Though he was almost physically fine, you could tell just by looking at him that he was hanging by a thread. The poor guy was wrecked.
He too also had slowed his steps, but only stopped when he was actually in front of the man. "Ce, any luck?" he asked gently.

He probably should have been prepared but in this place he was always on edge. Brie had called his name and he spun quickly, tense and on the defensive. It took him a few seconds to settle, his mind registering who was approaching. Or at least who he hoped was approaching. He could never be sure in this place.
"Hey, Brie." His voice was quiet, eyes darting back to Rook and then to the girl. Her question was hard to answer and he didn't want to make her worry. Cecil's normal response was to smile and his lips pulled into a painful imitation of one. "I..." As soon as he started to speak he could feel something breaking and he quickly shut his mouth hoping to keep the anxiety at bay. It was Rook's question that finally broke him, his pained smile slipping until his lips were drawn in a tight line.
He shook his head in answer, ashamed that he couldn't keep up the facade any longer. Trying to shield his face with his hand he grew quiet hoping he could calm himself to avoid being upset. He didn't need to break down in front of other people, they were just as stressed and riddled with problems.

Slowly, she approached him, moving to stand infront of him. "Cecil.." it was apparent that he was not doing well, his attempt at a smile couldn't hide that fact, but it was definitely confirmed when Rook asked his question. Watching as his fake smile faded, Brie's shoulders sank.
It was weird seeing him like this. Every time she had met him, he always looked so.. so cheerful. To see that the everything was starting to take it's tole on him now-
Without saying anything, she placed her hand lightly on his arm before wrapping (or attempting to) her arms around him in a tight hug. "Its okay, Cecil. Whoever you're searching for, you'll find them. It's okay."

The moment Cecil's smile slipped from his face, Rook felt a stab of guilt for having asked. He should have known by the fact that the man was alone that he hadn't found her yet. He imagine he wouldn't have let her out of his sight, if he had.
"She's right, Ce. Listen to her. We'll find Hitsu. Don't give up on her yet." He tried to assure, but it was hard when he only half believed the words himself.

Brie had come in slow enough to avoid startling him, the light touch against his arm making him hesitate before he pulled his hand away from his face. There was the glint of moisture in his eyes but no tears had fallen at least. The hug was unexpected but welcomed and Cecil managed a weak smile to show his appreciation of their comforting words.
He leaned down to return the hug, wrapping his arms around Brie's slender shoulders and holding her close. "Thank you both." He pulled back, wiping at his eyes for good measure. Nope, not crying. "I guess I'm just a little on edge." His smile looked a little more natural now as he had started to calm. "I'm worried after everything that's happened."

Patting his back lightly when he returned the hug, Brie let her hands fall back to her sides when he pulled away. Although she couldn't be sure that completely helped, it looked to have at least calm him a little.
"I know. I think everyone has been, and this place isn't helping." She offered a small smile, tilting her head slightly, as if to get a better look at him. Just to be sure he was okay. "I'll tell you some good news though: the person I thought I had lost, I found him. He was changed, mutated into something almost unrecognizable." Her gaze dropped to the ground a moment before returning to meet his. "But, we managed to change him back. What ever happened to your friend, if they're changed, or missing. There is hope we can find them or change them back, and we will."

Not wanting to break up the sweet, but awkward moment of tree hugging, Rook idly stood by, admiring the uh... fog?

Feeling a little better Cecil lingered in contact just enough to rest a hand on Brie's shoulder. She was a good friend and he worried about her. More so because she was in a different faction. The news she shared did give him hope though and despite the stress and worries he had there was now a small voice telling him 'it's not to late.'
"That's really good to hear." He tilted his head up to look at Rook, quirking a brow as the smaller man seemed to be lost gazing out into the fog. "You're not feeling left out now are you?"
He moved away from Brie opening his arms out wide as he took a threatening step toward Rook. His friend knew what his hugs could involve. He had experienced it at the casino. "Come'ere Buddy."

There might have been a startled noise that quickly became a strangled sound as Cecil caught him in another bear hug. Which, like last time, squeezed all the air out of his lungs.

Brie nodded, beaming a large smile at the taller man. "Yes!"
Her attention shifted to Rook when Cecil's did, a wry grin spreading across her face when the carrot top was pulled into another hug. Unable to contain herself, a laught escaped her lips, while she pointed at Rook and his misfortune of being smothered with a hug. "You look ridiculous, Rook!" This was, of course, referring to the fact that Rook looked like a child in the bigger man's arms.

Having captured his prey friend Cecil hugged Rook as tight as his aching muscles would allow lifting him off the ground in a full hug. He laughed a bit at the strangled noise of protest but didn't let go right away. Instead he whispered something to Rook while he had him close. "You are a good friend. Thank you."
He placed Rook back on his feet the next moment and ruffled his hair for good measure. It would be a shame to allow it to look sensible. A crime really. "You both really did make me feel better." He patted Rook lightly on the shoulder before looking to Brie. "I really am grateful." He had been sinking and he hadn't realized how much so. There was still stress of course and he would worry until he found Hitsu but at least for now there was hope.
