With the situation with the Harbingers done, and his own personal gains from the secret stash, Justin was making off like... well, like a bandit. It was great haul that had him kicking his heels up in delight on his way back into the university compound. He was on an incredible high as he began to look over the collection of supplies. "I can make it a couple of days with this stuff." he noticed, breaking out with a grin. one that was wiped off his face from loud sounds and flashing lights. it sounded like shotguns, loud and sudden and the whistling of a rocket in the sky. at first the hope of a rescue helicopter flashed in his mind, replaced by the logic that it wouldn't sound like that. that was something else.

Fireworks. Someone must have found a cache and was using them, which in his opinion was a novelty, and cute. but the infected and undying liked sounds and bright lights. both qualities that fireworks possessed. a look of horror washed over his face as he began to peek through the cracked of his barricaded window in the dorms. the shambling figures outside were still there, and not surprisingly heading toward the fireworks. It was puzzling.

If they had luxuries like that, then maybe they also had supplies, and if so, he had to try and go. Making up his mind, he headed across the zones, into the 2nd one where nothing made sense to him anymore.

the 2nd zone was nothing like the wasteland of the first. to be clear, it was still a wasteland, but the predominant feature here was a lit up casino. lights and color and glitz and glamor that had Justin with his mouth open in shock. He couldnt understand how it had the power to still run in such a gluttonous fashion. the exterior was gaudy, but inside the doors was like another world. It was stepping into a place where everything was usual in a casino. not ravaging for items or arguing about the can of spam. not a squalid hovel of a time forgotten. it was las vegas.

brought back from the grave and here in the middle of a scavengers wasteland. people laughed joyously and played games of luck and drinks. a lady in a riske outfit and bunny ears with a strange golden ring on the end came up and offered a martini and a sachet of coins. He nodded his head furiously, to the point where he was sure it would fall off if it wasnt attached to him and down it quickly. It was heaven in a glass, the burn he never thought he'd feel again. it was his passion returned. the art of alcoholic beverage making. he could weep from the moment to savor the dream.

he was sure if was a dream and it would be gone in an instant so he closed his eyes to savor it.

The dream was gone when he groggily opened his eyes, but not in the way that Justin thought it would be. a haze clouded over him as the blonde tried to get his bearings, toppled over a chair and unable to move his limbs. the sudden exposure to bring searing lights did nothing to help as he squinted from the beams and the booming voice. What the crowd was cheering for was not in general but for them, including himself, and the key word players. whatever was happening he was beginning to put the pieces together slowly.

into a frightening image. To buy himself. or we will buy you. Justin couldn't suppress the shiver of fear down his spine by the intent hidden behind the words. Now he shot his eyes up, giving his full attention. and it was like the host could read minds, the slow smile reaching from one side of his face to the other. it was practically inhuman.

It was a toy, to ask if there were any questions in such a outlandish situation. He knew, justin knew that he knew. and the announcer didn't care.

the feeling of being moved without care of the chair was felt and thrown into another room, this one much smaller and closer to the current demon and two figures.

No, he knew what was coming and Justin wanted no part in this. instead of what he thought it was going to be, he was asked on who he would save. A chance to not only save himself but another from a worse fate. he only flitted his eyes on the teen when the lady was dragged, shrieking into another room with no view in. She knew what that room was for, and it was enough to fill her with fear, the choice sat heavy in his stomach, when the boy was freed. "WHY THE HELL ARE YOU DOING THIS?" was Justin's question, the volume of his voice giving the boy light of foot when they ran for escape. the noise this time was explosive as fireworks but much more contained. In a muzzle and the bullets in the teens torso. Unmoving.

The answer to his question was plain as day. Because they can.

With that, Justin was unbound and let back into the casino grounds with the coins in hand.

and the despair in knowing that he was literally gambling for his life. "******** unbelievable." Those who looked just as confused as himself had a collar or was in the process of their drink and bag. the bait. but soon enough, two bouncers came up before he could fully enter and gave him the once over with very rough hands.

Sandpaper quality hands. minutes later he had a shiny collar to call his own, indicating his role in the madness and a number to boot. the goal. It might as well have been a noose around his neck. One probably in his opinion was filled with high explosives if he tried to flee.
