Got impatient, decided to start smile

Living in Civisect and all, Psykgi spent a lot of time at the city's flashy, delightful mall. She loved it there, with its celebration of pure consumerism and it's wild clash of trollian personalities and beetles. It was, to be honest, one of the few places in Civisect where her blood color was welcome, but that wasn't why she liked it there.

Psykgi liked to watch the people, the roiling boil of trolls from every part of Alternia, every caste, every walk of life. This was a place where they could all mix freely, from purpleblooded wigglers to hulking drones off-duty, and buy buy buy. Most nights, Psykgi would just buy a soda and sit on some convenient place as the swarm scuttled around her, sipping and watching and making observations.

Sometimes, though, she liked to join them... and buy. As a Redblood with means, she could participate in the mess of the marketplace, and purchase whatever suited her fancy... assuming of course that it was for sale and that the shopkeeper sold to lowbloods.

Right now, Psykgi was doing the latter or, rather, she was doing the preamble for the latter. She grinned as she looked around the stalls, enjoying the plethora of wares as a cockroach perched on her shoulder, watching warily. Where the rest of the swarm was, Psykgi didn't know, but Ma'am would make herself apparent if she needed to, and that was what mattered. She stopped to look at a jewelery stall owned by an orangeblood, looking over the selection – and the ragged nature of the carpeted table they used as their display - with interest...

“Elidae, make yourself useful. We’re out of some of our special coloring and our Civisect location has extras. Go fetch it for us."

“Oh my grub, okay!!” And that’s how Elidae made it to Civisect Mall.

She didn't mind, really. No complaints here. In all honesty, she felt eager to reach her destination and be a beneficial factor to the salon. Interning there was amazing! It was also exhausting and strenuous. But it was AMAAAAZING. Taking it day by day, Elidae slowly but surely became accustomed to the functioning of the establishment, going as far as helping with color when one of the stylists needed a small hand. Even with the mundane tasks of sweeping up clipped hair and tending to the waiting patrons, the little yellowblood had a heyday. Trolls that walked in were extraordinary and interesting to say the least; so many amazing characters!

Civisect Mall had been a hot topic in NHC, specifically in the salon; how could it not? New and exciting, the shopping center was filled with all wakes of life from all over Alternia, catching the attention of both highbloods and lowbloods looking to spend beetles. The salon had newly opened a second location, hoping to attract good, wealthy business. From what Elidae heard, it was doing exceptionally well. Highbloods always needed to have magnificent hair!

As Elidae strolled along down some stalls with Ladydad fluttering beside her, she twirled an ID badge on a lanyard given to her by the salon, enjoying the plethora of trolls flitting about. People watching here would be so fun! While she really should have gone straight to her destination, a jewelry stand owned by an orangeblood caught her eye; she could spare a little time to shop, right? Ladydad didn't seem opposed to the idea, fortunately, so she happily approached the table. Another young troll looking to be about her age had also taken an interest in the stall.

Squinting, she observed the other girl from a small distance. While lightly chewing on her hair, her lusus questioned if perhaps she knew them. "Hmm, I dunnooo. Let's find out." Despite her guardian's protest, Elidae sidled up next to the other girl with wide eyes and abundant with smiles. "Hi! I'm so sorry, but you just look reeeaaaally, really familiar." Upon having a closer look, she examined the redblood's face, rummaging deep within her memories of where she must have stored it. Ugh, she despised how forgetful she was! "Hm, hm, hmm." She just had to have encountered this redblood somewhere, and it was really bothering her think pan that she can't seem to recall. A glance at the swirled, colored hair caused a sudden string of broken memories come to her. She snapped her finger three times, expression rapidly becoming more and more animated. Oh! Could this possibly be that redblood from the base at Chittentown? ... yes!

Abruptly snapping a finger one last time, Elidae pointing at the redblood with excitement."Yeah, yeah! I remember you! From the base! I think? Hahah! Whoa, small world!" Ladydad chattered quietly behind her with a dissatisfied tone, suggesting she was being awfully obtrusive to this redblood's shopping and shouldn't impose on others. Whatever that meant. A quick reflective moment; a pause... Well, actually, perhaps she was coming off too brash. Oopsie.

She cleared her throat. "Ahem. I'm sorry, I don't think I ever got your name?" She offered, taking on a more humble approach, voice softer and kind. "Mine is Elidae."

Psykgi looked up from her perusing, a smile ready on her face. ”Do I?” Ma'am fluttered near her, observing.

The yellowblood did look familiar too. Hmm! ”Well gosh! Lets see if we can't figure it out! Where have I seen you before, because I definitely have!” Psykgi ran through the options, ”Here, maybe?”

Mmm, no. Not here, and not in the city proper either.

”Busthind, perhaps?”

Mmm... No. She didn't look like a Busthinder. Psykgi didn't think she'd seen her there. Ma'am concurred – wherever her charge had seen the yellowblood, it hadn't been there.

And then the yellowblood came up with the answer. ”Oh!” Psykgi grinned, ”Now I remember! You were at the banquet!” she laughed at their previously futile efforts, ”Goodness, yes! It's definitely small enough! And no, we weren't introduced, such a shame, though! You have such nice hair, I was going to ask you... mmm... I'm Psykgi, Psykgi Mentha.” she said, offering her hand. Names before hair tips, after all. ”It's soooo good to meet you, Elidae! Now about your hair... Where do you get those waves done?” she asked.

"Oh my gosh, thank you!" Elidae put a hand to her blushing cheek, genuinely thrilled by the hair compliment. One way to lock in a blooming friendship for this yellowblood was a compliment on her hair; she took any kind of flattering remark to pusher. She took Psykgi's hand, shaking it with eagerness. "Its a pleasure to really meet you, Psykgi Mentha!" Meanwhile, Elidae's lusus fluttered aimlessly to the side, letting his young troll chat animatedly with the redblood, not sensing any sort of threat. Two lowblood girls: what could be dangerous about that?

"My waves?!" Elidae echoed, blinking and reaching up to touch her fluffy, black mane. She giggled, beaming sponge clot to sponge clot while twirling the very ends of the hair that brushed her shoulder lightly. "Well, it's actually natural! Heheh. But I try to take good care of it, and I get a touch up, like, every few weeks! Sometimes I even do it myself!" She said, making "peace signs" with her hands and opening and closing her fingers like scissors. "I was actually juuust gunna ask, where do you get your color done? Red is such a difficult one to dye, y'know. But it looks fantastic!"

There was a pause, and before the redblood could answer her question, Elidae abruptly hopped up straight, as if remembering something highly important. "Actually, I'm on the job right now!" Whipping out her badge, she twirled the lanyard around a few times around her finger, before attempting to snag it out of the air, but failed of course. With a loud laugh, she finally snagged the badge between her fingers, and showed it to Psykgi with an excited grin. She was practically wiggling with excitement. "I'm making my way to the salon here in Civisect Mall for some supplies. I'm from New Hemisect and running an errand for my location. Wanna walk with me there?"

With a glance at the stand they were currently standing by, she gave the redblood a slightly apologetic look, but smiled politely. "Unless you'd like to say here, then that's fine! I can catch up with you later?"

Ma'am shared ladydad's assessment of danger – the cockroach on Psykgi's shoulder remained, but the rest of the swarm returned to idly swarming around nearby... save for a few that, intrigued, approached Elidae's lusus with interest. It was uncommon, after all, for their troll to meet others with small insectoid Lusii. Would this, Ma'am wondered, be like the orangeblood boy with the cockroach father? The swarm, though not exactly curious, wanted to know. The approaching roaches wiggled their antennae at the ladybug in a friendly, buggy way.

”Really?!” Psykgi said incredulously, ”They're perfect, absolutely perfect! And they're natural?! You lucky troll! And you do it yourself?!” Psykgi shook her head, not so much disbelieving as amazed. ”Gosh, I've tried to touch up my own hair, and I had such a strange hairdo as a result...” Or... that time she had almost scalped herself. Ahh, fun times... but that was why she went to a hairdresser and didn't try to do it at home anymore...

”Ohhh, yes, its really hard! Well, it's a long story you know!” she said, unconciously moving towards an emptier place where she could talk. ”It's hard to find a good place here in the city proper that carries red dye, you know? Highblood city and all. Harder still to find someone that uses a red dye that doesn't have volatiles or any weird chemicals... they upset my lusii... you know. Insect lusii, so sensitive to pheromones and chemicals...” Of course she'd understand, ”So I actually go to this place in New Hemisect, normally” she told Elidae the name, ”It's a bit of a trip, but...” she grinned, touching her dyed strands proudly, ”It's so worth it!”

Psykgi blinked as the yellowblood took out the lanyard, and inspected the ID. ”Oh my gog, you work at a salon?! Here?!” she said excitedly. Or... not for the salon here, but still! ”I didn't realize there was one in the mall! This is great!” Psykgi said. To be honest, she was getting tired of the other place, and having one so handy in her own city, that would serve redbloods (since the mall served everybody)... ”Oh my gosh, I'd love to walk with you now! I must see where this is!”
