[ Quest 11: ] The Fisher King (Click spoiler for mechanics) ** QUEST UNLOCKED **
Requirement: One person in the party must have a fishing rod made of whale fin.

You must have a fishing rod base made of whale fin first to start. Anyone without a whale fin cannot actually fish, though they can cheer the others on.

Next, select a bait. Your goal is to catch as many fish as possible, as fish oil is valuable in village things, says the villager. He hands you a tin, and you randomly get a bait. Roll 1d6 to see what you get

1. You get nothing..
2. You get the ear of a minipet
3. You get a ball of tiny spiders.
4. You get a giant spider. Seriously, this thing is huge. Like six feet huge. How did it even fit in there?
5. You get a decent sized worm.
6. You get the tail of a minipet

Now, with the bait, roll 1d100 to see how well you do. Make sure to rp accordingly with using the bait/tackling it/ figuring how to make it work. As long as you fish 11 or higher, your quest is a success. Otherwise, try again!

1-10: You fish up nothing..
11- 30: You fish up an invisible sardine. Or wait, is it a real one? You can't tell.
31- 50: You fish up a decent sized bonefish. It is made of literal bones, how are they going to eat this?
51 - 80. You fish up a giant spider fish. It looks more spider than fish, and is about six feet tall.
81 - 100: You fish up a beautiful premium gourmet finfish. It's tail fetches a good price in the local village market and you are rewarded handsomely.

gaia_star If you and your team successfully defeat it, you get paid a rusted key. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Now that the nasty business with large and deadly whales was over, Lucille figured that she was eligible for some time off and to cap it off, she had found a rather interesting item left at the beach. It was a piece of whale fin; there was no doubt in her mind as to which whale it had belonged to. The sand whale had probably dropped it when one of the ballista shots hit it. Lucille wondered if the villagers would like to keep this memento. It did look long and impressive.

“We shall make you a fishing rod out of it,” came the villagers’ decision.

“You sure about that? Seems a waste…,” said Lucille with some doubt.

“No point keeping impractical items,” said the villager who had taken the fin away from the student. “It would only collect dust and get in the way. Better to put items to use,”

“Well, okay,” said Lucille. “So, you are making me a rod, what do I use as bait?”

As one, the villagers glared at Lucille as though the Reaper was not quite right in the head.

“Anything really,” said one with a shrug. “As long as the fishes bite…,”

“Take this,” said the second villager, handing Lucille a tin. When the Reaper shook it, there was some rattling and scuttling inside and upon inspection of the tin’s content, Lucille discovered a ball of spiders.

Being a resident of Halloween, a ball of tiny spiders did not faze Lucille at all and the Reaper duly stuffed the tin into her backpack before heading off to the lake.

The village lake, was a dark and dreary affair with spectral mist rising from the water’s still surface. From a glance, it would seem that the lake could not possible contain any life within it. But Lucille had seen one of the villagers fishing in the lake before before and knew that there were indeed fishes in it. While the question remained about the edibility of the fishes caught here, Lucille was at least certain that there were things that could be caught within the water’s depth.

Settling herself onto rotting stump, the Reaper took out her can of spiders and succeeded in hooking a luckless spider to the hook attached to her fishing rod. Then, after waving the rod to and fro several times to get a hang of it, Lucille tossed her line into the water and waited.

The Reaper did not have to wait long as within minutes her lines began to twitch and jerk signifying a catch. With baited breath, Lucille began drawing the line in and was rewarded with…

A fish made of bones. It was not a bony fish and neither was it the skeletal remains of a fish but a literal fish composing of just bones. Lucille watched it with some wonder as it thrashed about the end of her line. To someone less accustomed to Halloween, the question of how such a thing could even exist would be on the forefront of one’s mind, but to Lucille (after all her adventures so far), the sight hardly made the Reaper bat an eyelid. After all, she had seen people catching invisible fishes so a fish made of bones seemed hardly impossible.

With a quick motion, Lucille tossed the fish into her bucket and wondered if she should continue fishing. The notion of it though, seemed like too much of a chore for the Reaper so Lucille took her bucket containing the single fish back to the village.

“Would this do?” the Reaper asked as the villagers peered into the bucket.

“It would make a good fish stock,” admitted one of the villagers grudgingly.

“I suppose so,” said another who, after a brief rummaging around his cloak, brought up a rusted key and handed it to Lucille. “For your efforts.”
