A villager has left a tip about some form of virus happening to the local minipet wildlife. It is up to you to check it out!
Your character must catch one of the local minipets wandering around. Roll 1d10 and see what phrase you get from the list. Then use the minisglossary to pick a pet with that phrase in it (do not pick SE pets or RE ones!)

Once they have caught one, they need to carefully examine it to make sure it has no signs of the virus (the symptoms are possibly purple, evil looking, very vicious) then they can let it go. If however, it is purple or shows possible signs of the virus, they should hand it in to the villager. Roll 1d4 to see what the villager gives you for your time.
1. You get nothing. They take the pet and go away. 2. You get a halfhearted thumbs up. 3. The pet bites you as you near away from it! Ouch! Add +2 to your miasma meter. 4. The villager looks at you. He says "they key to the door is 8888." He leaves.

Leo had been given a task. Well, another one - this one pertaining to investigating a possible virus plaguing the local minipet population.
Truth be told, she wasn't quite sure she was the best person for this job; shouldn't this be something for a qualified minipet specialist to look at? Unsure, she glanced around the area she was in; the villager who'd given her the task had pointed her to the most minipet-populated location and obligingly, she'd went. Still, she'd feel better if she had a second opinion on this - this was some poor creature's life on the line, after all.
And, well... this might be the something suspicious that Red was talking about. What was more suspicious than sudden illnesses?
Wandering around, she perked up when she noticed that there was another person here as well. Someone to partner with for this! She jogged up to the boil with a grin on her face, "hey! You here lookin' for infected minipets as well?"

Micail stood in the middle of a grassy area. He had been wondering around for what seemed like hours now with no luck at all. Placing a clawed hand on a hip, his right ear twitched along with his tails. It was obvious he was rather annoyed. He hadn't been expecting to spend most of the day chasing around for some minipets. Then again, when he came across the villager who had given him the warning he had felt kinda bad for them. They really seemed generally worried about them and when the villager asked for help Micail found it hard to say no. So here he was and not a single minipet in sight. He let out a frustrated sigh as he ran his other hand through his black and red hair, closing his eyes.
"Man this blows..." Suddenly his ears shot up at a voice that called out across the area. "Huh?"
Opening an eye Micail spotted a brown haired, red eyed ghoul looking back at him. She was at least two and a half feet shorter then him. Then again Micail was quite tall for a boil. Almost seven feet. Taking in her appearance, he couldn't help notice she was quite cute too. She must have been one of the students who was in the crash as well. The question she asked also confirmed what she was doing in a place like this. The same reason he was. Good. Maybe she knew where to find some wondering pets.
"Yoh." He gave her a friendly smile/grin showing off his canines. "Yep. Though I haven't had much luck. Though I had one a wile back but it turned out to be another student taking a nap out here." He gave a slightly annoyed look. "Who takes a nap out here in the middle of nowhere with everything going on? Any way..." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I've been out here for a wile now with no luck. You'r probably better off trying somewhere else." He looked down at her as he slid his hands into his pants pockets. "I'm Micail by the way... So... You make a habit of approaching strange boils and striking up a conversation with them?" He asked with a smile and tease in his voice.

Halloween was full of savvy ghouls who knew when they were being flirted with.
Leo was not one of them.
"You don't look that strange to me, honestly." She eyed him up and down, trying to find the so-called strangeness. "Well, other than the tallness, but can't really blame creeple for the way they're made, can you?"
To his question, she shrugged with a smile, "better to pair up, right? Two heads are better than one and everything. Reckon we've got a better chance of finding a minipet if we both keep a look out.
And nice to meet you! Name's Leo," she added, smile blooming into a grin. It was always awesome meeting friendly creeple, and she'd been lucky to be meeting a lot of them lately.
"Is it really that deserted here? The villager said this was the hotspot, but..." Looking around, she was like to agree with Micail; it really wasn't crawling with minipets here like the task-giver had implied it would be.
Well it didn't look like it was, but a rustle in the tall grass, the flash of a black tail and suddenly she threw herself forward with a triumphant cry. "A-HA! Spotted you," managing to grab the creature before it got away, she was now getting furiously clawed for her efforts.
"See!" She held out her catch with a victorious grin, ignoring the little beast's infernal yowling, "we got one after all! It's a -" pulling the minipet closer and turning it to face her, "a Black Cat? Does that sound right?" She looked quizzically to Micail.

"Oh really?" He looked at her a little surprised by her reaction. Then when she mentioned how you couldn't really blame creeple for the way they were made he smiled. "Yeah, your right about that. Mostly it really is the height." He chuckled then shifted when she asked about pairing up. "Sure. why not? Its not like ive had any luck and with the both of us looking we just might be able to find some. Leo huh? Nice to meet you too."
He was glad she seemed really friendly. He wasn't sure if he could take someone who was rude. Specially after everything that happened to him. Every time he tried to get answers he never really got them. That only make him angrier and not in the best mood. At least now there was someone who was in a good mood and that put him in one. When she questioned him about how void of minipets it was, he just shrugged.
"well so far. I haven't been able to spot a one, and Ive been up and down this place. I think maybe the villager got his information wrong." He then blinked when she suddenly lunged at something. There was rustling and then she came back up holding something. He blinked. "Um... Nice catch." He leaned in to get a better look. it hiss and swatted at him. "Yep." He glared at it. "Its a cat..."
Micail then looked to his left as his ears twitched. He picked up the sound of rustling to his left. Could it be? Another minipet? Sure enough he caught something white moving in the brush. He reached down quickly and grabbed it. It was a White wreathel. He grinned. Well what do you know. Maybe all he needed was some help.
"Looks like all it took was some help huh?" He smiled at her. "So... I guess we... what? look at them or something?'

"When it rains, it pours!" She grinned cheekily, holding the volatile black cat a little away from her body. Best not to get too close to those claws; well, as much as possible. She still had to keep a firm grip on the thing, after all. "I think so, yeah. Look them over properly and make sure no symptoms are hiding anywhere," she nodded, affirming his words.
Thinking back on the villager's explanation, she called to mind how he'd described the infection, "purple, evil-looking, quite vicious - that's the symptoms I was told of, anyhow." A dubious look at the black cat, and she mused aloud, "reckon giving this hellcat a proper examination is going to leave me with a few scratches, though." She sighed and half-shrugged; "well, no time like the present!"
Plopping down on the ground, she arranged herself into sitting crosslegged, still keeping a hold on the mini. "How to begin this..." she eyed the vicious creature, decided to rearrange her grip to get a one-handed but still firm hold on it and started with its back. It didn't appreciate her fiddling with its fur and hissed terribly, but her grip held. "Seems clear on the back," she glanced up at him to see how far he'd gotten. "How about yours?"

"I would say so." Micail replied as he held his own Minipet away from him.
Ever since he picked it up the thing had begun to squirm around. Not that it was a problem. Micail was strong enough to handle a little minipet like this. He simply just held it out with one hand by the scruff of its neck. It just hung there squirming around and swatting at the air. It hissed and growled a few times but the thing was so small it was hardly a threat. More so it was just getting annoying.
"Purple, evil-looking, quite vicious huh?" He looked at her mimipet as it continued its tantrum. "Well i'd say yours is everything above but purple." When she mentioned how she might get scratched Micail frowned. "Yeah, no kidding. That thing is the most aggressive ting I've seen here. Watch yourself."
If Leo were to get hurt he didn't have any kind of medical supplies. Not to mention he had no idea where to find medical attention in this place. Was there even a doctor here? He had yet to come across one. Oh well. He would think of something. Keeping his own mini pet at bay, he watched as Leo manged to get her own minipet wrangled and some what under control. She managed to examine it and so far it looked like the thing was just mean and pissed off. Not infected at all. That was a good sign, wasn't it? When she was finished and asked him about his own pet, he looked at it.
"Mine?" The thing hissed at him and struggled again. "Yeah... Mine."stare He locked eyes with it. "Alright, lets get this other with." It hissed at him. "Yeah, yeah, I don't like you ether pal. Now hold still." He reached out with his other hand to examine it but was scratched instantly. "Ow!"
His ears went down and his tails twitched. The cut was good and bleeding. He clenched his fist as he glared at the pet. He had just about enough of this thing. All he wanted to do was get this over with. With out getting mauled for the day. Ears flat against his head he brought the pet a few inches from his face and growled baring his canines.
"Do that again and I'll eat you for lunch..." It stopped. "That's what I thought. Now behave." With that he flopped down on the grass and set down, holding it with both hands. "Little s**t." He looked it over. "Well... Mines just as mean and it looks kinda purple. So... I'm going out on a limb here and saying this guys is defiantly infected..."

"You must not have met the turkeys yet, then. Or the sand whales," Leo replied with a lopsided grin. "Probably for the best, you're not missing out on much there. But," she toned the grin down to an appreciative smile, "thank you for the concern."
Satisfied that her minipet was clean, she put it down on the ground and gave it a few (completely unwanted) pets before letting it run away from her. Which it did, promptly disappearing into the underbush with a last hiss at her.
Turning to watch as Micail handled his minipet, she winced in sympathy when it got him with its claws. "Ouch! You okay?"
When he effectively threatened his white wreathel into obedience, she laughed though. "Wow, that was awesome! Shoulda had you do that to mine as well, would have spared me some grief." Scanning his minipet with her eyes, she gave a thoughtful nod to his diagnosis; "yeah, best turn it in just to be sure. If it's not infected the villagers can just let it loose again, right?"

"Turkeys?" He looked at her surprised and with slight horror. "Do I even want to know about these turkeys?" The way she said made him thing that he didn't want to see them at all. "Oh I've seen the sand whales. Those things are huge. I managed to help them fend one off." When she asked if he was alright after he got scratched he nodded. "Yeah its nothing. Just annoying." He then chuckled at her reaction when he threatened the pet. "I have a way with these guys." He then stood and tucked the minipet under an arm. "Yeah I guess I should get this little guy back to the villager. Hey, thanks for your help and it was great talking with you. If you ever want to hang out or you know... do more of these weird quests let me know." he handed her a piece of paper with his cell number on it. "See ya." He waved as he bounded off to see the villager about the minipet. Of course all he got for his trouble was some kind of key to a door? well that was just great. What kind of door?

"I don't think anyone wants to know about those turkeys," she laughed. Nodding to his words, she took the scrap of paper and put it in a secure pocket, "yeah for sure! I'll text you my number when I get back to school and we can hang out sometime."
After he'd gone she looked a bit longer for another minipet, but after an hour had to give up and go back to the villager to report her failure. Oh well, couldn't win them all.
