Quote:
A local villager wants you to fetch some mistentoe for him, but he's very picky on the type of mistentoe he wants. You must track down the perfect mistentoe, a stack of it, and return it to him! He'll reward you for your time.

There are four zones in the canyon labelled zones 1, 2, 3 and 4. You can move to one zone at a time by simply stating what zone you are. Every time you move, you get to roll a 1d6 dice. Keep on moving around the zones until you finally find the right one. RP out effects accordingly.

1. You see what looks like a mistentoe herb, and by obligation of request, taste it. It tastes bitter! As you debate life, you suddenly shrink to only three inches tall. Oh no! (You can not change zones unless someone else quotes and carries you around for the rest of the quest)
2. You see what looks like a mistentoe herb, and by obligation of request, taste it. You feel pretty okay, that is, until you start talking. Everything comes out in haiku. Your character must talk that way until the quest is finished/ they leave.
3. You see what looks like a mistentoe herb, and by obligation of request, taste it. You begin to float, as if weightless. Oh no! You're going to float away! You must tether yourself to the ground. (You can not change zones unless someone else quotes and carries you around for the rest of the quest)
4.You see what looks like a mistentoe herb, and by obligation of request, taste it. It looks really unsafe and you don't feel so good... Add +5 to your miasma meter.
5. You see what looks like a mistentoe herb, and by obligation of request, taste it. You SUDDENLY FEEL LIKE YOU ARE EMBUED WITH THE POWER OF TEN THOUSAND WARRIORS! YOU COULD DEFEAT ANYTHING WITH A SINGLE PUNCH BECAUSE YOU ARE RIPPED! (this is only a mental feeling it actually doesn't increase strength).
6. You see what looks like a mistentoe herb, and by obligation of request, taste it. This is the right one! You thankfully take it home (QUEST COMPLETE)

Hollandaise stared at the canyon, mentally preparing a plan of attack - well, a plan of searching. It was rather strange, she thought, the amount of fetch quests and favors the villagers asked But maybe, if they all did enough, the villagers would actually help them.

"Misentoe, misentoe, missing toe," she muttered. Suddenly, she spied a rather familiar tail nearby. Her eyes followed the long, long, length of it.... ah! "Hello, Zar," she said amiably. He had been strange of late, but he at least hadn't called her twig in some time. "Are you searching for the misentoe as well?"

Zar was not generally one for running plant fetching errands, he was not in fact an enormous fan of plants in general but lately he'd been forced to run any number of tedious errands for the villagers and was numb to what they asked him. When he spotted Holly it was with very little surprise, of course she at least would be out here.

"You got stranded too?" he asked, raising a brow as he turned, his tail curling up again at his feet.

"I was, though frankly I have no idea what it even is."

She hmmed. "Yes, I was on my way to visit a nursery. What were you doing? I have not seen you in some time, which is neither here nor there, as I did not seek you out." Hollandaise knew that Zar had moved somewhere, presumably with Barth and Calder (because surely he would not still be at Bath's family house), but she had no idea where or to what kind of locale. She eyed his tail - it was still interesting to her, and there was always, always the urge to touch it. Instead, she scooted a few feet over to inspect a tree.

"Misentoe looks like a cluster of greenish humanoid toes, I believe, with small leaves and tiny white flowers-" she stretched up and plucked a bunch of it from a tree. "Like this! All varieties look the same, but apparently they taste different." Obligingly, she peeled off a leaf and placed it slowly into her mouth. She held no qualms about taking the plant - it was to be useful to someone and the misentoe was parasitic upon trees. And trees always won out. Ugh, bitter. She swallowed the leaf with difficulty, wishing she had something to gt rid of the taste. "That one was too bitter, not the right kind at all. Oh!"

Hollandaise was three inches tall. Luckily, her clothing had shrunk with her. She looked around in distress. It was one thing to be five feet and considered short and another altogether to be three inches. "Zar, come here."

[[Zone 1]]
"A nursery?" Zar raised his brow in curiosity, wondering what she was doing going to see scarelings, having never heard the word used to describe anything else. He tried not to be excessively rude by prying too hard and tried to change his focus elsewhere, listening as she described the plant they were looking for. Toes were generally strange to him, having hooves, bizzare wiggly appendages whose function he wasn't sure of.

"Perhaps you shouldn't -" but she had eaten it anyway and for a moment he thought she vanished, moving closer in hurried surprise, before he realised that she hadn't vanished at all. There was simply less of her. Much less. She was tiny.

Prey sized.

He gave her a long, slow, slit eyed stare, flicking his tongue as he considered...

And then hurriedly turned his attention to something anything else. He seized one of the nearby plants and swallowed one of the leafs in the hope that it would help take his mind off of the fact that Holly was now entirely bite sized.

He began to float and panicked immediately, flapping his wings to try and keep himself grounded as he found his hooves leaving the ground, but to no avail, he appeared to have no gravity of his own, dependent on other people to stay grounded. "Grab my tail." he called, panicked and hoping that even tiny, Holly somehow would be able to anchor him before he drifted off into the sky.

She set her teeth as he turned away, "Of course you would not help," Hollandaise hmphed. Her tiny feet tried to hurry along, but when she was the size of a large bug, everything was difficult. Perhaps luckily for her, however, Zar seemed to have eaten something strange and actually called for her help. She tried not to feel smug and failed utterly. Zar was close enough still that she could actually reach him before he floated off into the stratosphere. It helped, of course, that he tail was so very, very long. Reaching him, she tried to wrap her arms around it, hugging it to her chest. It was awkward.

"Your tail is quite large, Zar. You should have brought that bridle." She sounded put out. Grumbling, she let go of him to produce a very long ribbon from her hair. She lopped it around his tail and tied it tightly. Hollandaise held the other end tightly in her fist and still kept one hand on his tail. She had no idea if this would work - it was a wonder, actually that she wasn't floating away with him! Instead, it seemed as though she retained most of her weight although she was tinier.

Experimentally, she jumped forward and was lifted gently into the air before drifting back down. Humming in thought, she did it again, this time swinging her body forward. Ah! This could work! She jerked the ribbon. "Are you quite all right up there? Do not slime on me, Zar - it would hardly be polite." Her voice was tiny and squeaky, but she hoped he heard her. Hollandaise moved forward again.

[[moving to zone 2]]

It was slow going, but she absolutely refused to give up one a quest, a mission, a thing half-way through. Hollandaise wondered if she could count holding Zar to the earth as a favor issued and possibly collect on it later. "How long do you suppose this shall last? If I retain this size, you must carry me to Barth's father's house." Hollandaise wanted to see the statues from this size. If they were grandiose before, imagine them now...! She shivered a little at the thought. In all honesty, she very much wanted to see how Zar's teeth looked up very very close and this size was perfect for it. but Zar was a bore and would likely not humor her. She ate another leaf, wincing at the bitterness of it. At least she could not get any smaller.

(Moving to zone 2)

Zar felt like a balloon as he floated along in completely undignified fashion, held down only by Holly's slight weight.

Her warning not to slime came just in time, because in his fright had had started to do just that out of reflex. He immediately curbed it as best he could, self concious of the sheen on his skin. He didn't say anything for now, unable to think of anything to say about this absurd situation which wouldn't make it a hundred times worse, instead focused on making it better.

"I hope it doesn't last lo- WHAT?" he double took. "Why in ALL HALLOWEEN would you go somewhere you are even more guaranteed to be eaten?" It was difficult enough resisting the desire to eat her himself when she was such a lovely and bite sized morsel never mind putting her in Ardenter's household.

He reached up into a nearby tree as they passed it, spotting more similar looking plants. "Maybe we can cure it?" he said and ate a leaf thoughtfully.

It was not good and he immediately started coughing and spluttering. "WELL NOT THAT ONE ANYWAY"

"No one at Ardenter's would actually devour me," she said dismissively. "I have been there before. Twice, in fact. And because if I am only this large, then everything else appears quite larger. Including teeth." The last was said with a completely unbecoming shudder. She was about to speak more on it when Zar ate something that was quite obviously not the right misentoe (well, not obviously incorrect, but his reaction gave it away).

"Are you alright?" she asked and began to bound along to the next tree. Even if Zar was under the weather, they had a job to do.

[[moving to zone3]]

Something caught her tiny eye. With a rather heart-pounding jump, she landed at the base of a tree. Carefully, she picked up a fallen leaf and tasted it. Green, sunlight, the soft ooze of decaying things, soil - it didn't bad, but it certainly was not good. Luckily, in seconds it had faded from her tongue and she was left standing, staring at the bark of a tree impossibly taller than she. "Zar, this is correct! Use your useful height and pluck some from the tree so that we may head back."

Zar couldn't help but bark a laugh at the comment that no one would eat her at Ardenter's, acutely aware that almost everyone, up to and including the host would likely snack on her without a second thought. Salad, he thought casually.

"I think I am ok." he said, still feeling queasy. "I hope so. It has settled whatever it was."

And then mercifully Holly found the correct thing, he could have hugged her but right now that would have been a tremendous risk and probably would have ended up with her finding someone who had also been at Ardenters who would have absolutely eaten her.

He seized some of the plant with delight. "Well done, I am glad I found you you midget twig."

Hollandaise made some sort of inarticulate, creaking noise. "A midget twig? I should release your tail and let you take flight, you bulbous goat, to save myself from your presence," she snipped. But they both knew she would not. Zar held the misentoe, after all, and considering her current stature, it would take Hollandaise quite some time to traverse the ground without the aid of Zar's buoyancy. Still, she let the ribbon slip out of her hands for a second before securely grabbing it once more.

Once he had gotten the misentoe, she slowly started their mismatched way back towards the villagers.
