While going about and doing various quests for a handful of villagers, Verusha was able to overhear gossip, and tid bits of information about other members of the fog filled town needed. It just so happened that a tip was picked up on her passing by, after snatching up an herbivore egg for herself. It had something to do with the local minipets.... apparently getting sick? Honestly, Verusha wasn't entirely surprised. With all this strange thick air around, and how uncomfortable she'd gotten just going so high up in the hot air balloon... this air couldn't be all that great. Maybe there was some kind of sewage build up somewhere? who knows.
But she was interested in at least seeing what information she could round up with this little mission. Firstly, she needed to find a minipet to check for any signs of this spreading virus.

Venturing out once again to the exterior of the town itself, Verusha began hunting for some minis. She'd seen some last near the mountain where she'd had to scale it for some egg, so maybe that would be a good place to try and round one up.
On her way, eyes flickering back and forth around her, eyeing trees and shrubbery that they passed by, the canine queen didn't come across anything that stood out yet. The only rustling came from brushes of wind that toddled by. But as she was getting closer towards the mountain and further from the town, she did manage to catch a flicker of something in the corner of her eye.
Cannon noticed it too, reacting straight away without any need for vocal cue. He darted towards the source with a quickness, just a flash of red and orange, leaping into a bush with a low, short growl. A squeal was sounded in return from a foreign creature, who was dragged out by its scruff in Cannon's maw. It was a little humbug, fluttering its wings madly, wriggling and flailing desperately to try and escape the hounds clutches.
"Be gentle with 'um. Canny." Verusha gentle reminded her fire hound, who lowered his head a little to slacken his jaw some. Kneeling down, the reaper got a closer look at the mini, squinting, and tilting her head to look at it from various angles. Well... it had some purple qualities to it... but she wasn't sure if it was just a normal colour or something more... To be on the safe side, she figured it best to head back to the town to get a better assessment.

Heading back to the town, with the little minipet fluttering and wiggling about still trying to escape, Cannon was able to manage a straight face... even with wings slapping him, and fuzzy butts bumping against his cheek. While he was hot-tempered, he had discipline. And he exercised it in situations such as these.
He kept diligent at Verusha's side, though, as alert as ever, able to block out the obnoxious behavior of the humbug. When they got back into the ominous village, they headed straight for the individual who'd been overheard with the tip to begin with. Getting his attention, the ghoul gestured with a head nod towards their captured critter, "So, does this one look infected to you? It's got a little purple on it.." her voice trailed off, as her lips pursed upon taking another look at the thing. Was just a spot or two... but hey. Better safe then sorry, right? at least she'd heard that too many times than she could count.
As the villager overlooked the presented mini, Verusha waited patiently, arms crossing as the man inspected the captive. But instead of giving any sort of verdict, he simply stood back up, and stared at the student, muttering something about... a door? Brows raising with surprise, the reaper parted her lips to ask what he meant, but the man was already leaving.
The key to the door is 8888? what did that mean... what door? Well... ok then. Glancing down at Cannon, she gave a tip of her head for him to release the mini, who zipped off as soon as it was freed.
"Guess that's that." she concluded.
