Quote:
Your character(s) must interview two villagers. Villagers are all cloaked for some reason. Villagers may get disinterested when you ask too many questions, your goal is to acquire as much IC information as possible. Maybe they hold the key in your leaving.

Roll 1d10 and match your dice roll to the result below. That is the response they give you to your question. Your character can ask any question they formulate with the response always being the result below. If you roll the same number, you get the same response.

1. The villager glowers at you but does not reply to your question
2. The villager seems busy chopping firewood and is fastidiously ignoring you
3. The villager turns to look at you. They wave... at someone past you.
4. The villager is fishing. They reel in an invisible fish.. or is it just nothing.
5. The villager responds with a hearty grunt.
6. The villager looks you straight in the eye. "No."
7. The villager seems glum beyond their cloak. They mutter a few words involving the terms 'despair' and 'death'.
8. The villager is too busy looking at their toes.
9. The villager is cooking roast ghost fish, it smells delicious. They take out a skewer, offer you it, and then eat it before you can accept.
10. The villager seems passed out. Maybe you should leave them alone...

All right, so Kalden had gotten bored.

Newly separated from his happenstance-driven quest partners, he began to meander about the village outskirts. Surely these guys had to have something fun to do around here? Of course, it wasn't exactly where he would choose to escape for a summer paradise, the fog that drenched the place really put a damper on the mood. Ambling along, he watched some of the denizens of the tiny hamlet patter about morosely, almost shambling as they plodded along in their day to day existence.

Oh yeah. That was a real thrill ride.

His ears perked, however, when he spotted a chap sitting all hunched over with a fishing pole. Whilst it might have been for food and survival, that was the nearest thing to a hobby that he'd seen ANYONE participate it. Man, but it must be a dull life around here. The lion boil was already hallucinating about hobbies he could invent just to stay sane. Egg-bowling? Turkey-tossing? He'd already had some experience with crab-punting, surely they could make a league or something...

Meandering his way over to the fisherman, he tapped on the man's shoulder. "Hey, bud...you ah....catch anything...? How bout that fog? You always have weather like this...? C'mon, man, throw me a bone!"

But the villager's only response was to sigh...and then begin to reel in his supposed catch.

Odd, Kal hadn't seen any bobbing in the water or...

Well there didn't appear to be anything on the end of that line. "Uh....maybe better luck next time, pal..."

No response.

Heaving a rather hefty sigh of his own, he tossed a hand up, "Whatever. Good luck with the uh....fish. Or thin air, I don't know what you creeple live off of besides eggs out here."

Shaking his head, he reset course for further on into the village. "Jack, these guys are weeeeeird."

At least there was a certain amount of steadfast solidarity in the bizarre clan that inhabited this oddly situated wilderness haven. Kalden had to give them that. They had one immense, glaring personality facet in common, and that's that they didn't give a flying, Jack-bedamned smidgen of a care as to what was happening beyond their fog-doused reality. Or at least it didn't seem like it, beyond the occasional desire to go out and collect a smattering of eggs for exotic omelets, bash in some critter's head in a hunt, or...as the lion boil had recently witnessed, the incredibly dull and seemingly insanity-driven desire to fish for the most illusive of all quarries...the invisible fish.

Hey, maybe someone else knew about this peculiar pursuit and could shed some light on the matter. It seemed an utter waste of time to cast a line out into the water after see-through wrigglies when there were so many very real (and inexplicably large), hostile and presumably tasty buggers littering the surrounding countryside.

After brushing elbows with a few more townsfolk, none of which spared him more than a glance, Kalden began to see if he could eye someone at more of a standstill. Someone he could corner and pick the brains of who wouldn't just bustle off as though he had brought home the plague.

Ah! That fellow there.

Blue on ebon eyes settled with a gleam of purpose onto a rather industrious wood-cutter, and though the feline teen had to dodge a splinter or five that came hurtling from the blade of the axe as kindling was split over and over with diligent purpose, at least it didn't seem likely that the gent would be scuttling away to his homestead within the next few, precious seconds.

"Hello there, neighbor!" He started cheerfully, "You know anything about the catching of invisible fish? Do you know if they make invisible sharks too....?" Kalden attempted his most charismatic of disarming grins.

The chopping merely continued, the steady thud of the axe into wood and then the hefty 'clack' as it was put neatly into the pile with an almost military regularity.

"No? Then how about this weather? You guys ever get some good sun-basking weather out here...?"

Thunk. Thunk. Clack.

A rumbling, frustrated growl, "JACK PLEASE DON'T ANY OF YOU PEOPLE TALK!?"

Tail lashing violently behind him, Kalden threw claws into the air and gave up.

"I HATE THIS VACATION!"

Time to go find Volt or Hymn or even that Vaudrey guy and find something better to do.
