- It seems as if the villagers now want you to collect some eggs. Some untainted, un-miasma fused precious wyvern eggs from an exotic wyvern couple that sadly passed away. You must scale a very high mountain in order to get these eggs.
- Your character is dropped off at the base of the mountain. The goal is to climb the mountain and get the egg. To scale the mountain, you must write a jaunty 250 word post of your character scaling the mountain. You can do this as you please, there are plenty of angry nesting minipets, boulders, and possibly giant serpents blocking your way. As you reach the top, obtain the egg, and you are ready to begin your descent.
- Every single creature possible, especially rolling sand lobsters, will try to destroy your egg. Roll 1d4 four times and match your dice roll to the prompt below to reach the bottom of the mountain. Yes, repeats do happen if you roll a repeat. Your egg has 10 HP. If you make it down without the egg reaching 0 HP (breaking) you made it!

There was a veritable group of them by now, but Vaudrey felt this was a Very Good Thing, because it meant that they would have people to rely on. And in spite of his overwhelming bravado and attempts at sounding confident, underneath it all he was as terrified as a new scareling.
No one need know that, though. Really.
He tried talking to the first few villagers, heard something about eggs, and promptly went back to the others, poking his talons together in a manner that suggested he had no idea what was going on. Vaudrey was, sadly, still determined to pretend that he did.
"So, erm," he said brightly - a little too brightly. "These, erm, very nice folk here - " He was clearly ignoring the glares directed at him from the villagers. " - said something about, erm, eggs, and how we should get them from, erm...that there mountain...?"
He gestured behind him, wings fluttering.
"Apparently there's enough for all of us to take one down, and it is our duty as Gentlemen to fulfill such a promise!"

Viktor listened to everything Vaudrey had to say while watching the suspicious, glaring villagers out of the corner of his eye. He had good faith in Vaudrey, even if he seemed like wasn't totally sure about things. At least he was giving them some direction.
Eggs huh? Sounded like a lot of work and Vik's ears drooped slightly. Buuut......it wasn't everyday he got to be out on his own and explore like this. Maybe with the help of some of the others it would be easier. He placed his hands in his pockets and kicked at the ground while deciding how he would go about this. Sure there were bound to be all kinds of creatures living on that mountain; probably ready to attack at any moment. Could he handle it?
Well...he had to be prepared.
Okay so first things first. He would turn off his music to avoid unwanted attention. Click. Okay now that was out of the way. Secondly he needed to figure out if they were going to work in pairs at least, or to each their own? "So do we all just...have at it?" he questioned, turning to stare up at the mountain. "Looks like quite the climb...." It was at times like this he wished he had wings.

Hymn eyed the sphinx almost jealously, wishing that his own feathers were anything but white. The golden feathers the other had were gorgeous, and he found himself almost wishing that he could preen them. Just for a few moments.
Shaking himself out of his thoughts once Vaudrey began to speak, Hymn crossed his arms to puff himself out a bit more at the villager's heated glares, the feathers on the back of his neck rising with alarm. Whatever he was saying wasn't making the villagers any more happy, and Hymn was at a loss for what he could say to help them out.
So he remained quiet, only giving a soft nod to the other winged monster, adjusting his half-checkered scarf around his neck for more air. Where was Kalden? He said he'd be right by the boil's side, and he wasn't. Again.

Volt cocked his head, drawing his bony wings in closer to his frame as he considered.

So he shrugged. "Sure. I'm in."
Not like he had anything better to do anyway, and sure as his family wasn't looking for him.

"I'm comin', I'm comin!"
The giant feline glided his way over to the already assembled group in time to catch the tail-end of the sphinx's rambling mission statement, and already Kal could tell that Hymn was going to glare daggers in his direction and likely have something to say about the slow pace that the snow lion had decided to take. I mean, it wasn't like there was any rush, right?
"Man, these creeple seem to really like their eggs. But then hey, what's the harm. I guess if they're all special and s**t....You heard the guy..." a dramatic gesture in Vaudry's direction, "leeeeeet's get moving!" With a toothy grin, he didn't so much as hesitate as he began to plow his way up the mountain, showing a copious amount more initiative than he had on his approach. His mind was singing the mantra of QUEST QUEST QUEST over and over and he had embraced it with gusto.
"C'mon, Hymmy, don't be a spoilsport!"
And then he was charging up the mountain, the idea of coming back some sort of Jack-lauded hero with the egg in hand. After all, he was far too fond of such adventures, and even this crazy fog wouldn't get him down. Though his feet never once hit the actual mountainside, it was only an inch or two above, brought closer to the ground in his enthusiasm. Once or twice his bright eyes strayed to the side, trying to ensure that his 'partners' on this little escapade were still with him.
He knew absolutely nothing about eggs, but if they needed rescuing well...that was sort of like saving a wee scareling from deathly danger, right?
The wild animals out here were a touch different than he remembered from his childhood, that much was for sure. As a wee cub he'd never had a velociraptor snap irritably at his tail in an attempt to shoo him out of its territory.
"Damn lizards...bugger off!" There was a dismissive wave of a hand as he scrambled over another rock outcropping in an attempt to mount the summit...and discover the eggs.

Dekana only half listening as Vaudrey gave his spiel, noting the moutain and need for eggs without really absorbing anything else. He nodded, wondering why the villagers were so distrustful of them yet they didn't have a problem asking the strangers to collect eggs... and why eggs? “How big are these eggs anyway? Why from up on the moutain? Don't they have some sort of fowl?”
He'd taken to standing assertively, his tail curled around his feet a times almost giving the impression of having a snake wind around him. The little bits of shadow he let roll off his snapped and faded, and the villagers gave him a rather wide berth.
As the others began to move listlessly, he turned and walked towards the mountain's nearest face. Top of the cliffs hey? Rob the clutch of a dead wyvern couple... he shook his head, a bit shameful but maybe the omelet would be worth it!
He walked ahead of the party, not really interested in much conservation or comraderie, his tail trailing behind him is a graceful arc. More then once he found himself wishing for a drink of water... he was more aquatic then he was aerial, that was for sure, and the dull patches of his scaled flesh implied as much.
When he finally reached a pond area nestled towards the back of a plateau about halfway up, he walked right into the water and laughed as the fish came to investigate. The water was refreshing and the area was calm, a good space for a rest... and rest he did. Splashing around thoughtfully, he wondered how he'd get the egg down again... he had spotted a cave system running into the mountain lower down but he couldn't be that lucky could he?
As time drew on and he pondered the question, Dekana finally decided he was moisturized enough and there was no way to know if the cave would connect but it was a fine idea. Thus, he moved on to continue hiking up the mountainside.

Well it seemed everyone was going their own separate ways for the time being. So Viktor decided he would commence climbing the mountain. He took a deep breath, and started looking around for the easiest way up. There probably wouldn’t be any dirt path to follow, but surely it wouldn’t be as difficult as climbing up a straight cliff edge; which he assumed would happen more towards the top of the mountain.
Sure he was nervous, but he just kept telling himself that he could do this. Gotta think positive. Maybe the villagers would be happy and reward him even! Tails swishing back and forth, Viktor began his trek up the mountain. Whether the others followed would be up to them.

He bit his lip nervously, and made his way through the twists and turns on the way up. Big fallen boulders lined the path, and Old trees, with roots that looked to have been partially dug up by some wild animals caught his attention immediately. He would steer clear of those. The higher up he went, the air became thinner, and he found himself struggling to get along.
But he was almost there. “Just grab the egg and head back down,” he whispered.
He came to an area where the rock jutted out, and he heaved himself up over it; his long nails digging into the dirt. His eyes lit up when he saw what lay before him. A nest! A nest with eggs in it! Happily that he had finally made it to the top to find what he was looking for her, he wondered if the others were far behind him? Hopefully they had had as easy of a time of it as Viktor had.
“Wow, that’s a pretty big egg..” he trailed off. And he would have to carry that thing? He would probably need both hands. “Well I suppose it makes sense. Wyverns are pretty big aren’t they?” He rubbed his hands together and bent over to pick up an egg. Huff. “Alright. Now …how to get back down?” He frowned a little, but by no means was he going to give up.
He walked back over to the little cliff he had previously pulled himself up over. He sat down on his butt and scooted his way down, carefully cradling the egg as he did so. He was going to get dirty doing this. Those citizens had better be grateful, he thought with a grumble.
Just then his ears picked up a loud ‘hiss’! Viktor gulped. That couldn’t be a good sign. And out from behind a boulder, a large snake appeared. With a mighty swing of its tail, it aimed for Viktor and the egg! The fox gasped and tried to roll out of the way, holding the egg close to his body, but the snake still made contact with his egg! “Crap!” he growled, shakily getting to his feet. He was undoubtedly terrified for his life! And so he began to run. He ran as fast as he could, trying not to trip or fall.
Finally he had to stop to catch his breath. But hey, at least the snake seemed to be gone. And he still had his egg! “Good, just a little further right? I think…” He looked around, not really remembering this area from the way up. “Did I go the wrong way?” He rolled his eyes. And just when he was beginning to think he could relax, his fluffy ears picked up another strange sound!
Weird chirps and little growls came from the bushes at Viktor’s feet. He paled. Now what was THAT? Little glowing eyes peered back at him from the greenery. With a rustle of leaves, a small army of raptor pets appeared. The sounds they were making increased in excitement, and the hopped over to Viktor who was standing stalk still. One wrong move, and he could easily be raptor food. He cradled the egg.
Suddenly, without warning, one of the raptors chirped and jumped at Viktor. The fox panicked and stepped backward, and the entire army leapt at him, crawling on him, digging their tiny nails into his flesh. Viktor tried his best to fling them off; kicking and swinging until the little critters showed signs of giving up. All the while, trying to hold the egg safely.
The kitsune kept pushing forward through the foliage until his pawed feet were beginning to sink. “Sand?” he whispered. “Dammit,” he hissed. This sure as hell wasn’t as easy as he thought it was going to be. He desperately wanted to shout to the high heavens about how ridiculous this all was, but he knew that would most likely land him in trouble.
But he didn’t have to wait long before trouble found him anyway. The sand by Viktor’s feet began to shift. And slowly two lobsters unearthed themselves from the ground and snapped their angry claws. He had stumbled into their home! “Noooo,” he whined, ears flattening against his skull. What terrible luck! Both lobsters had managed hits on his egg, and Viktor feared it was close to breaking. He snarled at one of the lobsters, and surprisingly it backed away leaving an opening; an opening that Viktor immediately took. He pushed past the bugger, and made his way, the rest of the way back down the mountain.
He reappeared where he had started from, the egg still in tact. He crumpled into a pile on the floor, holding the egg like a baby. He was in a sulky mood now, after all he had been through. “Those villagers had better be happy. If I didn’t know better, I’d say they were trying to get us killed,” he grumbled, popping his headphones back on and turning up the beats. He sat their, tails twitching and waited to see if the others had had any better luck.

They were at least gathered together in a group, which was reassuring to Vaudrey. He tried to keep up appearances that he was, in fact, totally competent and sure of himself, preening his feathers and sparkling majestically (or at least, attempting to) at the other boils like everything was just fine and dandy.
(Spoiler: it wasn't.)
"Okay!" Vaudrey said brightly, staring at the mountain with a very terrible amount of trepidation. His smile was a little too wide to be entirely honest, but, well, fake it 'til you make it was nothing if not his motto. He squared his shoulders and took a deep breath.
"Well, my friends!" he said, talons on his hips. "Here goes nothing!"
Getting to the top of the mountain was, sadly, easier said than done. Vaudrey managed to get approximately five feet before something huge and scaley came rushing at him, and he gave a quite unmanly squawk of terror and almost tumbled back down. When he managed to get to his feet again, he gave a quick glance around to see if anyone had seen his less than graceful screech, smoothed his feathers back down, and scrambled a little faster to the top.
The egg was sitting peacefully where it was supposed to be, and Vaudrey gathered it carefully into his arms. He held it carefully, inching slowly back down - this time a different way than he'd gone up, in case the snake was there again. But something else was lurking in the dark (or not) and surged up at him. This time Vaudrey's shriek was quite audible, and by the time he made it back to the bottom of the mountain, he was much more disheveled than he had been at the start.
He tried to play it off, smoothing back his hair and taking a deep breath.
"Well, erm, I got the egg!" he said brightly to the villagers, who looked less than pleased, but accepted it anyway. And by "accepted," it was snatched out of his arms unceremoniously.

Though he was utterly breathless as he reached the top of the mountain, Kalden did his utmost to look as though he had merely gone for an afternoon stroll. Bouncing a bit in mid-air as he came over to the nest, the lion grinned toothily at the handful of eggs still resting there. "Looks like today is your lucky day, egg-son!" He proclaimed as he plucked one up in his large palms and stared at it with a great deal of self-pride.
Getting it back DOWN the mountain was another story.
Turns out the egg was quite the handful, the sphere being a touch cumbersome, that and apparently everything and its really ugly twin were out to get it. Not one, but two of the desert oddities that were sand lobsters rather aggressively barreled their way into the egg-bearer and his fragile burden, despite his best attempts to swat them away. "Guess they don't have pest control out here..." He muttered, patting the egg in a confiding fashion.
Also the little Velociraptors were back, and if they hadn't been tedious enough on the way up, apparently they were craving rather fiercely for exotic breakfast foods.
"Aww, c'mon, guys...if you have to make scrambled eggs pick somebody else's!" Kicking out at a particularly aggressive fellow with one viciously clawed paw, Kal snarled vindictively at the oncoming reptiles. "MINE! GET YOUR OWN, BUSTER!"
Reaching the foot of the mountain again, he rather hoped he didn't have to attempt another climb anytime soon...especially if this entire place had this kind of wildlife. "ANYBODY GET BIT!?" He called around, trying to see if any of the others had managed to make it back down.
Brandishing his burden at one of the villagers, they side-eyed him...
...and then let him keep it.
"The Jack am I gonna do with this!?"

When Dekana finally got to the top, well, he wasn't the first one there, what with his dilly-dallying in the pond. The day was positively beautiful and he was glad to see that the nest they were raiding wasn't empty yet but man! Those eggs were huge!
He hurried over and looked what was left over, running a hand over the dimpled surfaces. They were dull neutral colours in blotchy patterning and thick, from the feel of things... that meant heavy too. He knelt down to collect the egg, staggering under its weight, and used his tail as a counter balance while he hefted and, half squatting, waddled back towards the cave space he'd encountered on the way. Halfway back, however, a massive snake slithered out of nowhere and whipped him with its massive tail, knocking him over backwards. The egg landed heavily on top of him and he groaned under the weight.
Rolling into a sitting position, Dekana managed to get himself up once more and continue on. In the cave, it was relatively quiet as well but he began to hear steps and chitters, little squeaks of excitement surround him in the shadows. He kept going, however, with furtive glances around, until one small velociraptor minipet launched itself at the egg, scrabbling with its claws before falling off as he spun and tried to waddle faster.
What was with this? All of a sudden every thing he encountered wanted to eat the egg? They were just sitting there, up above! Why couldn't these pests just eat the eggs there!?
He ran on, or rather waddled on, and another velociraptor minipet jumped at him, scratching him down the length of his arm when it missed the egg and he hissed, lashing his tail to send the creature flying back from whence it came.
The egg had now survived multiple attacks and was a little scratched but, thankfully, not punctured!
When he got out of the tunnel at long last, something came rumbling and rolling down the roll above, barely missing him as it leaped off the wall and... continued rolling? He turned to watch it in mild alarm as it threw dust up in its wake and arched around in a graceful curve to aim right back for him. “Heeeey! D-don't! Come on!” He was tired and achey and he didn't want to run any more!
But he was so close to the end! Dekana inhaled deeply then put his last bit of stamina into the dodging waddle but didn't quite make it! The sand lobster leapt as it passed, grazing across the egg and he could hear the scrape atsthe rough lobster scratched across the surface of the egg, thinning out the shell considerably.
Thankfully, though, when it hit the wall the lobster's ball broke apart to leave it wobbling helplessly on the ground. Dekana took his opening and made a break for it, finally waddling down and out of the mountain to deliver the egg.
His greeting was brusque and business-like, a brief thank you and that was that. He wasn't even sure why he'd accepted the request in the first place! He was sweaty, tired, and very dehydrated now! Not too much later, the villager he'd dealt wandered back out and handed an egg right back to him – smaller this time, thankfully, as 'payment'. Dekana didn't know whether to rage or thank the man, instead standing there with an expression that shifted between anger and a curiosity of whether or not he'd been pranked.
Shaking his head, Dekana rolled his shoulders and went off in search of other things. Where was his party any way?

"Don't call me that," Hymn muttered grumpily as he fluttered his wings and hunkered down, watching the others work with a tilt of his head, sending his white bangs into his eyes. He was already frustrated with the situation and Kalden leaving him behind, why should he have thought this trip would be any different?
Figuring it was his turn, Hymn stretched a little bit and made his way up the mountain, surprisingly quick for his size and moving across the terrain almost like he was a natural at it. Strangely enough, he kept his wings close to his back and mainly focused on climbing until he got to the top, sighting an egg among others just sitting there, ready to take.
There were a few of them there, but Hymn realized that he could only take one. Bending down to gently pick one up, he cradled it as softly as he could, stepping down what he thought was a solid patch of ground, only to have it slide out from under him and send him sliding down the hill in his nice white clothes.
Holding the egg as tightly to his chest as he could manage, he panicked as two sand lobsters rolled onto the egg in fighting stances, seeming to have a bone to pick with one another... he used a free arm and swept them both off in one fell motion.
Sliding to a stop in the middle of the mountain, Hymn teetered on his toes for a moment as he attempted to get his balance, only to be thrown off again as minipets resembling velociraptors jumped on him in an attempt to get the egg. Letting out an alarmed bird cry, the gryfon nearly landed on his front but he twisted and took the full weight of his body on his left wing. He protected the egg at the cost of injury, sliding on his side to the bottom of the mountain and leaving the dangerous minipets far, far behind.
Standing up shakily, he found a wary villager and handed over the egg with great care... wondering if that was a bit of respect that shone in their eyes. No, it must have been the light.
Hymn glanced at Kaldon as he drew his injured wing forward, in too much pain to bother fixing the bedraggled feathers that stuck out every which way.
He looked about ready to cry.

Honestly? Volt had been waiting for something of a group Break! or something equally as cheery. However, when everyone began their treks up, the dark phoenix shrugged and rolled his head to each shoulder. The gratifying popping sound echoed the click-clacking of his wings as he stretched them out, then pulled them back in.
Not, he thought with a sneer, that they were going to hinder him any. Not like bone created any drag. Of course, they wouldn't help him either, as bone could not fly. Not for the first time, he thought longingly of the brief images he'd ever had of his father, of the glorious, ghost-feather wings the man possessed. Now those could probably get him up the mountain fast enough.
Volt's wings, however, were not as developed, and so he had to hoof it. Greeeeat.
Making his way up the mountain was easier than he expected - twists and turns, an almost expected amount of spooky sounds and swatting branches, sharp rocks that seemed to magically find his feet. But he made it, and rubbed his hands together as he came upon the nest. The number of eggs looked a little low, so Volt could only hope that this meant that the others of his little super-fun-party had made it up and back down without too much harm.
For a moment, he eyed one of the eggs with dislike, This looked like work. Two-handed, sweaty work, and unfortunately for him, he had no brainless meat head to help him carry it down. Too bad that big furry lion guy had separated from him. The thought made Volt snicker, but he was already here and had resigned himself to this thing, so he carefully picked up one of the eggs in both hands and focused really, really hard on not accidentally phasing it - and himself - down through the core of the mountain so far below.
That would suck.
But, as coming up the mountain hadn't been too bad, surely getting down would be just as easy, right?
Right?
Wrong. Way wrong.
When he got about halfway down the mountain, the dark phoenix tripped on one of those damned sharp rocks. Stumbling, cursing, he sat down on the closest big rock he could find...a rock which immediately began to hiss and move. "Snakes?!" There were multiples, large, scaly buggers that immediately began to whip at him with their tails, shoving and slapping him left and right. The barrage came from all sides, and Volt gritted his teeth as he heard the fragile crack of eggshell meeting something it shouldn't.
Finally, stress and anger took its toll, and Volt snarled. "Stupid buggering snakes!" Clutching the egg tight to his chest, he closed his eyes tight and felt his body go gratifyingly light and hollow...and he phased through the nearest snake completely, stumbling soundlessly through brush and undergrowth until he landed with a loud OOMPH on his stomach. The egg popped away from him like a cork, and went rolling.
With a high-pitched groan, Volt took off after it, and saw quickly that he wasn't the only one. Small, raptor-like minipets were ganging quickly around the egg, and they were a lot faster than him. One jumped, landed, and toppled off the egg with a squeak, but it set the egg bumping to a stop.
Another raptor dove for the egg, and so did Volt. The raptor landed, and Volt, growling, thwacked the thing away, listening to a grin as it screeched madly. "Serves you right!" He grabbed the egg and took off, tucking his wings close as he took to the path and made his way down to where the others were waiting.
Volt grinned widely, and opened his arms. "Hah! Made it alive! And -" His voice cut off sharply as he saw the egg in his hands. There was a piece of shell missing, and the egg was covered in cracks. It was, of course, broken, and absolutely useless.
"BUGGER IT ALL."

At the breaking of the egg, the poor ragged gryfon did break out into tears.
"After all that, it died!?" He wailed.

Viktor had been starting to fall asleep, hugging that egg when sudden wailing awoke him. He found himself surrounded by curious villagers, poking him with sticks, who wanted their egg. But that wasn't where the wailing had come from. Viktor tried to swat the villagers away, but they insisted on taking what was theirs. In the end he was finally able to deduce where the wailing had come from though!
He walked over to see his teammate crying. "It died? What died?" he asked curiously, peering over and seeing the other's broken up egg. "Ohhh...." Well that answered his question. He bit his lip, unsure of what to say. He didn't want to mention the fact the villagers would probably have eaten it or something, if they had gotten their grubby paws on it anyway. Nope. He wasn't about to say that. No way, was he going to make things worse.
"Wellll..." His ears drooped as he looked at the others, hoping someone would find the right thing to say.
