Powderstones are notorious for being extremely heavy and unwieldy to carry. A villager has requested this, can you really deny their offer?
- Your character must head into the darkest, deepest volcano interior. Magma oozes at every precipice of this dangerous area. In the smallest, floating island of non-magma touched sediment is a beautiful powderstone. It is about 6 feet tall and extremely hot. It is very difficult to carry it, let alone breathe in here.
- Your character must carry the powderstone out of the lava. Roll 1d4 three times. That is the distance (feet) you carry the powderstone.
- You must reach a distance of 30 feet to get the powderstone out. If you fail, the powderstone drops at the distance you left it at (on your third dice roll). Only other characters can help you now, by coming into the thread, and picking up the rolls. The SAME characters cannot repeat the same thread. You are free even if you carried a stone in a seperate thread, to help out in a new thread!
- Example: Steve starts, and carries the stone. He rolls 3d4 and gets 6. He carried the stone 6 feet. He now cannot post in the thread anymore and exits before he passes out. Jim can now come in to this RP (as long as they are either invited (QUEST PRP) or just hop in (QUEST ORP). Jim rolls 3d4 and gets 3. The rock is now at 9/30 feet carried. Once again, this quest is not successful until the rock has been FULLY carried 30/30 feet. If it is successful, everyone in the thread gets the +2 raffle tickets.
gaia_star If you are the person who carries the rock to 30/30 feet, you get a powderstone. it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list
The moment that Vaudrey had uttered the words 'leadership potential' in Kalden's direction, the whole lot of them were in a world of trouble. It was really more happenstance and less the lion's instinct to bound headlong into disaster that smelled of potential glory. But when the first villager they encountered had said the words 'difficult', 'rare' and 'cumbersome' he had accepted almost without batting a lovely teal eyelash.
Oh yes. There was no challenge too difficult for any group that he was leading. Or at least, that was what he surmised, doubt a feature that was not on Kalden's default settings in the slightest. Even when he realized that the whole fiasco involved lava he was not to be discouraged. "Ooooh~!" The glow of the lava on the cave walls was more like a welcoming beacon, the heat something that he'd shoved to the back of his mind so that it could sit with all the rest of the discarded warnings...right there with words like 'miasma' and 'sand whale'.
Whilst most of them were clustered at the cavern's entrance, he charged in, usually hovering paws actually brushing the hot surface of the path in his excitement.
Oh man that was....one Jacking-lovely stone. Though he didn't know the uses for it, he sauntered right up...and with a stifled grunt (weakness was not an option), he proceeded to toddle his way back, the weight of the thing, combined with the rather unpleasant, dry sauna-like atmosphere of the cavern making this task far more daunting than he originally had accounted for.
It was when the second wave of dizzyness hit that he rather emphatically plopped the stone back onto the path, putting claws on it to make sure it didn't roll further. "ALL RIGHT. I'M OUT. NEXT."
He was the leader, he could dictate that sort of thing.

Vaudrey tried not to visibly show just how relieved he was to no longer be the one organizing everyone. He did very much like to be relied on, but it was getting more and more difficult to keep up the charade of actually looking good when he knew inwardly he was cowering at the thought of making a mistake.
Vaudrey peered into the cave after Kalden and tried not to look like he was going to pass out at any second. The first boil went in and when he came out, Vaudrey decided to just get it over with and act like he totally and completely had everything covered because he definitely did, right?
(Wrong.)
It was stifling inside the cave and Vaudrey was, alas, relatively weak. He pushed, he shoved, he whined, he fell over (twice), he gasped and choked and tried to act like he was totally on top of things (he wasn't), and when he finally staggered out of the cave five minutes later, he looked more than a little disheveled.
"I did it!" Vaudrey crooned - and then promptly fell face first onto the ground.

Dekana had wandered back into the group after disappearing for a few days. Bitten, chomped, pounced, and exposed, he rather felt like a hero returning to the familiar terrain of glory days when he arrived at the cave he'd been asked to retrieve powderstone from. The entire area was... well, not his favourite kind of place. It was hot, muggy, there were jets of steam and flowing lava rivers.
He was pretty sure he'd walked over a lava lake on the way in, with the way that glowing hot fin had sliced through the crust like it was butter. The place made him nervous and the heat sapped his strength, even with the cool drink potion he'd been provided by the village.
Looking a little ridiculous as he walked over to where the lion-esque 'leader' had dropped the rock they were after. The guy must be boiling, Dekana thought as he stood before him, trying to consider whether he'd help or not. That tone, though, like a command made him narrow his eyes and he just kind of stood there, tail lashing, “Try a command like that again foreigner, and you'll regret it.” A bit of the miasma flared along his aura as he grinned wide enough to bare fangs, his body language aggressive. Something in him was itching for a fight.
And something else in him knew now was not the time or the place, he'd spotted the fin again and wanted nothing to do with it. Thus, he gave Kalden a pointed stare and moved to heft heft the rock but Vaudrey had already picked it up, nearly doubling the distance Kalden had carried it. Dekana walked alongside, impressed and flashed a grin when Vaudrey dropped it,then proceeded to drop after it. Dekana caught the feathery individual and sat him down, wafting air over his comrade for a moment to make sure he hadn't somehow perished from this.
“Well done, friend. My turn.”
When he picked up the stone, it was hot against his chest, heavy as lead, and by Jack it reminded him of the stupid eggs he'd hauled around. What was with the villagers wanting ovoid paper weights?
What did this thing even do?
Waddling slowly, deliberately, he checked for the fin and found it gone. Relieved, he managed to get a few more feet before the heat and the weight had completely sapped him. Setting it down, he wiped his brow as he straightened, shaking his head. It was going to take a while to get this stone out of the cave!

Hymn was still leaking tears, but rubbing his face every so often as he followed Kalden, not sure of what else to do.
"Don't call me that..." He muttered softly, probably too soft to hear for the stupid lion dog to hear. Not that his brother ever listened anyway, but... he was good for some things.
Some. At least... a little better than his family.
Well. Anyway... it was his turn again, and he took a breath as he walked in and lifted the stone, struggling with it for some time. He had to adjust with each step and nearly staggered backwards in surprise as steam blew in his direction right in front of him, but managed to hold his ground. It was a slow and steady pace.
Just one step. In front of the other... until he finally dropped it... just barely away from where it needed to be.
The white gryfon flopped down in relief until he actually saw where it was, and tears leaked out again, his breath huffing as he tried to quell his sobs.
"I'M SORRY!" He couldn't do anything right.

Volt perked. His bone wings click-clacked as they stretched out in excitement, and his golden eyes gleamed as he realized exactly what had made Hymn - hey, he remembered that name at least - burst out into hysterics yet again.
He'd made a point to watch with interest as the others had rolled the large, admittedly lovely stone closer towards the entrance. It looked awfully hot in there, but when Hymn had started on his way and had gotten so close, the dark phoenix had stopped his attentions and had turned them instead on the more interesting factor of the singed, smoking teammates that had returned from the mouth of the cave.
He wondered if they were going to keep smoldering for much longer?
Then the wails started up, and Volt grinned as he realized that this was his chance to make up for that stupid wyvern egg fiasco. While he wasn't strong, Volt immediately took his chance, and darted into the cave. He got behind the Powderstone and lifted...
Bugger but that was heavy!!
But smarmy-ness and a demand for prooving himself gave him strength, and with a grunt and a heft, the phoenix managed a mixture of lifting and rolling the lovely shiny thing out of the ridiculously sweltering cave and into the relief of the open - admittedly foggy - air.
"Hah! Got it! Yes!"

Viktor watched the others working so hard to carry that giant stone out of a hot volcano. He was still tired through from his encounter with the creatures trying to steal his wyvern egg. He felt pretty bad that he couldn't help out, but this just wasn't his cup of tea. He supposed if they asked him to though, he would maybe make an attempt. But he made no promises. Instead he would try and do something to be helpful to the ones who had made it back out. "Here everyone, have some water. I mean, I got it from some of the villagers. I think it's safe?" He passed around a jug.

Frowning at mostly himself, Hymn stood up and shook himself off, mindlessly attempting to brush off a few spots of dirt. At seeing Viktor pass around some water, he approached slowly, holding out his hand.
"T-thank you..." He offered a soft appreciative thanks, taking a long drink from the water and reveling in the fact that it was cold. He passed it back, making sure to leave enough for the rest of the group, giving a nod in return to the other boil.
His gaze slid to Kalden again, the frown returning.
