gaia_star[ Quest 4: ] Eggstraction: the beginning (Click spoiler for mechanics)
- It seems as if the villagers now want you to collect some eggs. Some untainted, un-miasma fused precious wyvern eggs from an exotic wyvern couple that sadly passed away. You must scale a very high mountain in order to get these eggs.
- Your character is dropped off at the base of the mountain. The goal is to climb the mountain and get the egg. To scale the mountain, you must write a jaunty 250 word post of your character scaling the mountain. You can do this as you please, there are plenty of angry nesting minipets, boulders, and possibly giant serpents blocking your way. As you reach the top, obtain the egg, and you are ready to begin your descent.
- Every single creature possible, especially rolling sand lobsters, will try to destroy your egg. Roll 1d4 four times and match your dice roll to the prompt below to reach the bottom of the mountain. Yes, repeats do happen if you roll a repeat. Your egg has 10 HP. If you make it down without the egg reaching 0 HP (breaking) you made it!
1) A sand lobster rolls right into your egg and nearly breaks it! -2 HP 2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. They try to attack it! -1 HP 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky!
gaia_star If you successfully get an egg to safety, you get herbivore egg. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Despite helping out several villagers, they still seemed just as hostile to Leo. Well, if you didn't count the constant commands to do things for them; did that count as hostility? She didn't think so. It was weird though, how someone could be so absolutely against holding an actual conversation or answering basic questions like 'where are we' or 'how do we get back to Halloween Town' and yet still find the gumption to harry people into doing their bidding.
She was pretty sure False was right on the silver, actually; something was up with these villagers. Hopefully it was nothing too serious, though - she didn't think she could take more Initiate-like business again.
It probably was serious though, with her luck. Leo sighed, staring dismally up at the mountain in front of her. Her latest attempt to gather information had resulted in her being roped into yet another quest; this time, what the villagers wanted was eggs. And not eggs from a random turkey or anything, no, they wanted really specific eggs from a hard to get to place. And still she'd agreed to help, if only for the lack of anything else to do; would sitting around waiting for something to happen really be better than helping out these weirdoes? She doubted it; if nothing else, it would definitely be more boring.
So here she was, dropped off at an incredibly tall mountain and expected to handle the task all by herself. She kind of wished she'd run into someone who could do it with her, but the location she'd been dumped at was free of anyone but her.
Rats.
Well, there was nothing for it - waffling here certainly wouldn't get the task done any quicker. With a sigh and a roll of her shoulders, Leo scrunched up her sleeves and starting ascending the mountain.
It was tough work. Tougher than she'd expected, too; she'd not climbed that many mountains before, and besides that there was the... unpleasant personal associations. She tried to take her mind off of that; there were plenty of creeple around, and a whole village nearby to boot. Nothing would happen here.
Distracted by her thoughts and the work at hand, she almost didn't notice the angry minipet until it came careening at her face. "Wha--" the rest of what she said was an angry garble as she attempted to pry the creature off. "Get off!" With a cry, she flung it away, heaving for breath and then quickly scanning the area for any more pests.
Which was when she noticed the nest right next to her. Oh. Well. At least it'd been a flying one, so it'd probably be alright, right? Right??
Aww shucks. There wasn't really anything she could do though, and it might just be waiting on coming back while she was here.
Yes, better to strike it from her mind and move on. Nodding determinedly, the Mare pressed onwards, discreetly peeking over her shoulder every so often to see if she could spot the thing coming back. There wasn't anything until she'd gotten a fair bit away and at that distance she couldn't tell if it was the minipet from before or not.
She liked to think it was, though. Moving upwards, it took a while for her to encounter her next challenge; a giant serpent, blocking the only way up and hissing angrily at her. Thankfully a good punch with the weight behind it increased took care of that.
Continuing, she soon found herself at the top and gazing upon the egg. It was... nothing special, really. The colours were kinda nice, but otherwise it was just a large egg. Oh well, it fitted the description; shrugging to herself, Leo grabbed it and moved to begin her descent.

The first part of her descent seemed to fairly uneventful, really. The giant serpent was still passed out where she'd left it.

Its friend, however, was not. Come to avenge its fallen comrade, another giant serpent attacked, smacking her right in the midsection with its tail. "s**t-s**t-s**t-" Leo hurried away, clutching securely at her egg.

Thankfully she made it away safely, and once out of range of the giant serpent, took a moment to examine the egg for injuries. It was a bit worse for wear, but still alright, as far as she could tell.
Okay, onwards they went!

The rest of the trip down was also uneventful, to her great happiness. The egg made it in one go, and Leo moved back towards the village to see if there was any updates on their situation.
