...Now if only she could actually find someone to question. After spending the last few minutes trekking around the fog-ridden streets of her current location, the ghoul was quickly coming to learn one thing: the villagers didn't like outsiders. Not only that, but they were actively avoid her, by the looks of it. Despite having seen a few in the distance when her bus first crashed, Kari could swear that the village was deserted with how eerily quiet her surroundings were. It made her wonder whether she had merely seen a mirage earlier. The reaper certainly wasn't an intimidating presence by any stretch of the imagination, even with her staff. Maybe they were afraid because of the bus crash earlier? Did they think she was the cause?
"Hello? Is anyone there?," she called out into the fog. Silence. "I mean no harm, I only wish to ask a few questions and go home." More silence. Kari groaned at her ill fortune as she took a seat on a nearby box. She would get stuck in a village of antisocial residents, wouldn't she?
Rubbing the nape of her neck, she weighed her options. She could continue searching the village as she had been in hopes of finding someone, or she could branch out and try the forest she had seen off to one side. Kari didn't like the idea of wandering around randomly since it had been fruitless thus far, but she also didn't like the idea of journeying into a foggy forest which she had no knowledge of. That put her right back at square one. Hefting herself up, she decided that continuing her search around the village was her best course of action after all.
As she dusted herself off, Kari started at the sound of crackling in the distance... as if someone, or something, had been spooked into sudden motion. Taking off after the noise, she hoped that she would run across a villager. She had to remember not to try to scare them off, though. She wouldn't get any answers out of a fearful target.
RP Mechanics
Your character(s) must interview two villagers. Villagers are all cloaked for some reason. Villagers may get disinterested when you ask too many questions, your goal is to acquire as much IC information as possible. Maybe they hold the key in your leaving.
Roll 1d10 and match your dice roll to the result below. That is the response they give you to your question. Your character can ask any question they formulate with the response always being the result below. If you roll the same number, you get the same response.
1. The villager glowers at you but does not reply to your question
2. The villager seems busy chopping firewood and is fastidiously ignoring you
3. The villager turns to look at you. They wave... at someone past you.
4. The villager is fishing. They reel in an invisible fish.. or is it just nothing.
5. The villager responds with a hearty grunt.
6. The villager looks you straight in the eye. "No."
7. The villager seems glum beyond their cloak. They mutter a few words involving the terms 'despair' and 'death'.
8. The villager is too busy looking at their toes.
9. The villager is cooking roast ghost fish, it smells delicious. They take out a skewer, offer you it, and then eat it before you can accept.
10. The villager seems passed out. Maybe you should leave them alone...
