Quote:
Powderstones are notorious for being extremely heavy and unwieldy to carry. A villager has requested this, can you really deny their offer?

- Your character must head into the darkest, deepest volcano interior. Magma oozes at every precipice of this dangerous area. In the smallest, floating island of non-magma touched sediment is a beautiful powderstone. It is about 6 feet tall and extremely hot. It is very difficult to carry it, let alone breathe in here.

- Your character must carry the powderstone out of the lava. Roll 1d4 three times. That is the distance (feet) you carry the powderstone.

- You must reach a distance of 30 feet to get the powderstone out. If you fail, the powderstone drops at the distance you left it at (on your third dice roll). Only other characters can help you now, by coming into the thread, and picking up the rolls. The SAME characters cannot repeat the same thread. You are free even if you carried a stone in a seperate thread, to help out in a new thread!

- Example: Steve starts, and carries the stone. He rolls 3d4 and gets 6. He carried the stone 6 feet. He now cannot post in the thread anymore and exits before he passes out. Jim can now come in to this RP (as long as they are either invited (QUEST PRP) or just hop in (QUEST ORP). Jim rolls 3d4 and gets 3. The rock is now at 9/30 feet carried. Once again, this quest is not successful until the rock has been FULLY carried 30/30 feet. If it is successful, everyone in the thread gets the +2 raffle tickets.

gaia_smilies/icon_star.gif If you are the person who carries the rock to 30/30 feet, you get a powderstone. it is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

3/30 feet

Andrew was lurking about the volcano when a villager asked him to help them. He frowned, as he didn't like to actually do anything for free but the words powder keg. caught his attention. "Ok alright I'll do it." Andrew walked into the mountain unaware of any potential shadows he might have.

he walked by the stalagmites and stalactites admiring the view. It was nice and warm and comfortable in here. He thought their task would be easy because well he was a flame demon and as hot as it was, he was very comfortable unlike the average creeper.

Then he saw the size of the thing. "Oh Jack that is huge." Andrew stared at the powder keg for a long moment. Yeah that was not going to work. He tried anyways and managed to scoot the thing a whole 3 feet before setting it back down.

"Ok not happening, there is no way I can mange that on my own. Who is the idiot who made it this big?" Flame demons were not well known for being strong ok. He wasn't a dragon. He was just a demon.

Andrew looked around hoping to find something useful to help him move it.

5/30 Feet

Whether Shayne was behind her as she followed Andrew into town, she did not know but she wanted to make sure to keep the demon in sight. It was a new wonderful place, potential for fun adventures and she wanted to make sure to share them with him. (Which, might not have been the best of ideas, she would learn....)

A little ahead of her, she spotted him and was thankful for the ... whoever it was that had intercepted him. It allowed her to catch up! But not enough to hear what the villager had requested of him. And exactly where. Blindly, she trailed him, her hopes for fun high as she wondered where they could possibly be going.

And then immediately kind of regretted it. "..... its very hot here." Did she dare keep going? Her natural ability began working in over drive to keep her cool in the extreme temperatures of the volcano.

At least there wasn't any visible fire, right? Lava wasn't.... fire... right? Olivia looked worriedly at - why was she still walking into the volcano?! - and at Andrew. Back the lava.. and back at Andrew. Why was he pushing a big rock thing? "It's... really hot...." Pout mode was beginning to activate. This was not a fun adventure. This was a horrible adventure. Olivia placed a hand on the rock - it moved, oddly enough but not far along as she quickly pulled her hand back.

Not fun!

"Oh you followed me." he turned and found a certain ghoul frosting up a storm behind him. Well she was trying, he couldn't see any frost but he could feel the cold patch.

"Are you ok?" he remembered the mountain and her struggling through it. and he remembered very much so that she was afraid of fire. Was it because Lava wasn't fire? Jack he would think falling into Lava would be more dangerous. Not that he was afraid of a little lava. Still she looked rather wilty. That and he actually heard a rare complaint from her. "yeah it's really hot in here." he didn't mind but he could feel it. That and it was smokey... Good thing she didn't need to breath.

He kicked the powder keg with his foot. "They asked me to get this out of here." he scooted it a bit. "I'm not strong enough to do that on my own though I don't think." Jack why did he have to be a weakling. "And I think you can't stay in here long...."

It was probably the one saving grace, that she wasn't breathing in any of the smoke and sulfur of the volcano. Well, she could smell it at least, it wasn't terrible. It was about the only thing that wasn't.

"I do not know...." Even then, her voice seemed to be trailing into a whine. Her bright eyes seemed to be a little bit duller as she kept it trained on the large thing that they were supposed to bring back - as it was now sort of explained by Andrew. Looking at the lava had only lasted so long, even though it still looked that much different than fire but the heat of it was really getting to the undead ghoul. Her frost could only muster so much and last so long.

Olivia leaned a shoulder on the stone, it rolled a bit further oddly enough but she didn't really notice how much. "I agree...." How miserable she sounded and a little distraught. Andrew was feeling weak and she was feeling hot. (And a little sad. She had thought she was getting better... but this was a whole lot at once).

Andrew may not be able to move the keg far, though he did show a good effort, but he was debating how heavy Olivia was.

She might be terrified of him, but she looked half about to melt right then and there, and he meant like rock not water. (It was so nice in here. The temperature was about perfect. He was comfortable, even a little warm feeling and that was rare. His tail was burning higher than usual trying to burn off the excess heat. ) He was worried about the ghoul though. He was thinking the best course of action might just be to carry her out. Better to have to deal with being handled by flame demon than to be left in the volcano.

"I think you need to go out now. Can you walk?" Was he worrying over someone he told was not his friend. Yes... this was kind of proof she was mostly over the fire thing. Though walking into a volcano was just bad for her. Note to self, no volcanoes trips for Olivia. Too hot.

Even if she said yes Andrew walked over to her, putting himself between the nearest lava and her.

prepare to be carried Olivia. Andrew can't watch you suffer.

It wasn't the best of choices to keep leaning against the very large hot boulder. But it was how she kept it moving the last few feet that she would be able to manage. A thin layer of frost evaporated quickly from the surface and the skin beneath the layer of cloth finally heated just ever so slightly, making the ghoul recoil and stumble back.

"... yes...?" She mumbled, uncertain. The only thing she did know was that she didn't want to sit down or anything. It seemed a worse idea - though, coming into the volcano itself still took the cake. "But.. what about the.... that?" Hadn't they - well, he - made a promise to someone to get it out? Even if she felt so terrible, it felt like the right thing to do to help and all. And they seemed halfway there, only so much more to go.

But Olivia swayed on her feet and even as air did not fill her lungs, she let out a shuddering breath. "Andrew... its hot..." He was really close. It kind of wasn't helping, it was more heat among the heat but he was right there. The ghoul looked up at him with pleading eyes and.. then sort of just fell onto him.

phantompanther13
just sort of helping that along, huhuhu.. hope you're a good catch Andrew!

"You know what... how about not following me into an active Volcano again." Andrew decided this would probably be the best course of action for both of them. She could walk? she din't look like she could walk. She didn't look like she could keep standing. If she dissipated, he would be mad.

And then what he expected happened. Andrew managed to catch her, he was preparing for it anyways and he picked the ghoul up bridal style. He wasn't very strong but having 4 sets of limbs had it's uses. He wrapped his wings around her as well, half to support her, half to try and keep the external heat from getting her too much. Somewhere he figured the volcano was probably warmer than him. Though she was cool to the touch. He did not like that. He shuffled to try and have clothing instead of any skin, wow this ghoul was like ice.

"Ok time to go. Don't worry about the powderstone. Someone else will get it." Thankfully it wasn't far to the exit and an undead ghoul weight much less than a powderstone. Andrew cruised out and put her down outside, a ways away from the heat.

Stone distance: 27/30
(next person is really lucky. Hahaha)

This could not possibly be the way back. Lucille was fairly certain that there a fiery volcano had not been part of the landscape on the way over to the wyvern’s nest. Perhaps she had gotten lost on her mad scramble down and away from the chittering raptors.

The good news was…the egg isn’t broken and is currently residing like an incumbent deadweight in her backpack. For that at least, Lucille was thankful. If she had broken that egg, the villagers would have asked her to retrieve a second egg. Of that Lucille was fairly certain.

But traversing through an unfamiliar terrain was not helping her with her quest much. What if she got lost?

She should probably turn back.

Picking a new direction, Lucille picked her way gingerly over the warm scree. The environment here was as unfriendly as the rest of this forsaken village and its sullen villagers.

“Hmm?”

Right there before her very eyes, was a beautiful (if rather large and unwieldy stone). And someone had been trying to push it before giving up.

Did someone in the village want this? thought Lucille to herself. If so, why did they leave it…

Oh, right. They were probably going to ask her to come back and dragged the beautiful but wretched rock back. No doubt about that, given the amount of requests that they had asked of her so far.

Perhaps she should just try pushing it along. It would save time. And judging from the stone’s trail marks, it was heading in the direction she had planned to take anyway.

“Here we go…,” said Lucille as she placed her shoulder against the large rock and heaved.

With a heavy thud, the rock fell on its side.

“Man, that’s heavy,” said Lucille to herself. “No wonder they left it there,”

“But…,” observed the young Reaper thoughtfully. “The rock has now fallen onto a bunch of scree. Perhaps if I use some wind as leverage to push it along…,”

Closing her eyes as she uttered a soft chant to summon a centralize wind, Lucille then guided the mini tornado beneath the scree and the stone. Perhaps this way, there would be less friction. And less friction would mean easier transport.

“Okay, time for attempt two,” said the Reaper as she pressed her shoulder against the large rock once more and gave a mighty heave. As expected, the rock slid over the loose scree without much fuss.

“Now we are cooking,” said Lucille, encouraged by the improved distance of the stone.

“A couple more shoves and…,”

The screen came to an end and without anything to provide air space, the heavy stone duly crushed her tiny wind spell.

“Are you serious?!” grunted Lucille as she gave several ineffective shove and pushes (the stone remained stubbornly immobile).

“Well, I guess that’s that then,” muttered Lucille to herself as she wiped the sweat off her brow. “I am definitely not going to lose sleep over it. Nuh-uh,”

“You can stay there forever for all I care,” said the Reaper, giving the rock a malicious glare. (The rock remained unperturbed).

“I am heading back. Perhaps they would be happy enough with the egg to forget about you anyway,” sniffed Lucille. “I mean…apart from looking pretty, what possible use can you be?”

The rock declined to pass comment.

“Fine then,” huffed the young Reaper. “See if I care,”

Hitching up her backpack, the young Reaper left the site and was grateful for it too. The barren land was scorching and it did little to improve Lucille’s mood. This was certainly turning out to be a tiresome day.

He only agreed to enter the volcano because this hooded figure had asked nicely. Still, he had barely made it three feet up its side before he found what he was looking for and dragged it to safety. That was strange enough on its own, but when the villager who had seemed so keen on getting a powderstone for itself then handed it over to him, Brenley could only sigh and take the thing. At least they gave him a wagon to cart it around in.
