Welcome airship captains, casimir tree enthusiasts, devotees of Gaia, and the curious alike to this panel and recruitment booth for the Gaia Casimir Allaince. In this panel discussion we will be focusing on the Goddess Gaia, give a brief introduction to our favorite Airship Crew, and talk to you about the overall mission of the Gaia Casimir Alliance, or GCA, here on Gaia. In this panel discussion you will be able to ask questions about the GCA, the Goddess Gaia, and any related subjects. Available members of the GCA will be on hand to answer what they can and help you better understand just who we are and our place here on Gaia.

Before we go any further with this panel we do need to establish some basic rules of conduct while attending:

1) THE TOS IS YOUR FRIEND. Please obey the rules of the site or Bucket!Gino will be sad.
2) HAVE FUN! This isn't meant to be a place for serious discussion. Relax and chat with your friends or make some new ones. EVERYONE is welcome here.
3) Light/ Silly Roleplaying and cosplaying is encouraged/welcomed but not necessary. (But if you want to get into the spirit of things....hahaha go for it)
4) Be courteous to others. No flaming/harassing please. If you don't like someone, ignore them (just don't pay attention to them)!
5) No mindless bumping if at all possible. Just keep the conversation flowing.
6) NO BEGGING. Do not request donations of items/art/gold. DO NOT send random friend-requests to me or anyone else that frequents this thread. If you want to friend someone please ask them first. Art freebies and random gifts will be up to those who frequent this thread. Freebies from the guild will be in the proper section for them.

✘ July 25: GCA 101 Panel opened.

Let's begin our panel with what we have uncovered about the namesake for the planet and geographical region in which all of our favorite NPCs reside in, the Goddess Gaia. While she has yet to be given a proper avatar for posting around the forums and a profile, the Goddess Gaia does have avatar items for both humans and our Paws friends attributed to her.

✘ Gaia is a creation goddess. Like all creation gods Gaia's ability lays in the ability to create. Her main job is creating other gods and goddess.

✘ She is a plant based goddess.

✘ Gaia is the top of the pantheon of gods and goddesses and mother to five sons: the tiger, the dragon, the bird, the turtle, and the quirin. The five gods are, according to Gaia, manifestations of the abilities they hold.

✘ Gaia is known to be the mother of the gods Meili the tiger her oldest and Nyx the quirin her youngest. She has admitted to keeping a special place in her heart for her first born.

✘ She does not directly intercede in the affairs on Gaia leaving that task to her sons to hone and guide the world. Once the five major gods were created they were given specific tasks based upon their unique skills and abilities. Meili was tasked with keeping watch over mankind while Nyx, having no ability to create, was given the job of keeping watch over the moon.

✘ She is a powerful enough goddess that it was on her authority that the Demigods Overseer and Sentinel were stripped of their godly powers most likely through the use, or impersonation, of the Halloween mascot Jack.

✘ Through her power using the powers willingly given up by the Titan Ambition, the first of the Gambino family line, she was able to send Nyx to the void and place a seal upon it preventing him from leaving.

Gaia made her first appearance in the manga on the final page of The Fall back in 2010 when we see her hand pick up the letter that Johnny Gambino was able to scrawl out to his son Gino during the last moments of his life. For several chapters we wondered and debated about just who the hand we saw could have belonged to. Popular theories at the time pointed to the ghost of Johnny Gambino's late wife, Gino's mother, Rosalie. However, Gaia was first mentioned by name in a journal entry Gino had written out before visiting Meili on the floating island of Dref Dur. Because the planet and the goddess share the same name Gino was obviously confused as to how a planet could have children. However, it wasn't until we met Meili that we learned that Gaia was definitely a she. Theories now began to shift about the letter being in the hands of Gaia.

After a two year hiatus from the main plot on the site we were finally able to meet Gaia herself when she made her formal debut, and only appearance so far, with the chapter Return. It was there she tasked both Overseer and Sentinel to become mortals of good moral fiber while giving Overseer the human name of Marius and formally told Gino of what his family's heritage and duty was. However, Gaia is not without her detractors. She has been criticized for her parenting techniques and for how she has handled the issues between Sentinel and Marius/Overseer. Despite the criticism, Gaia has proven to be a fair and just goddess keeping the balance in the world.

Gaia now has a few items associated with her for both humans and paws to wear and use.

The Gaia Casimr Alliance is more than just a place for the followers of the teachings of Gaia. It's also a fan thread for the crew of the main airship featured within the Airship Saga. The airship at the center of the Airship Saga first made its appearance during the 2009 Xmas event. Originally owned by high end fashion designer and wizard Brennivin the airship was given to Sentinel and Overseer as part of their plan to spread Xmas cheer to the people of Gaia under the belief that in doing so they would be able to regain their positions within the pantheon of gods upon Gaia. The ship has lasted through sixteen chapters of the manga making its final appearance in May of 2015 when it crash landed in the forests outside of Durem after being struck by a bolt of dark energy from the fallen god Nyx.

The ship was powered by the mysterious Casimir Tree. In one of his many journal entries Gino Gambino noted according to Brennivin casimir trees are considered old world magic which allow for fight. He also noted through illustration that there are several subsets of the casimir tree species each with their own unique bark and leaves. However, due to Brennivin's accent and propensity for slipping into his native tongue Gino was unable to understand most of what he was told about the trees.

The original crew of the airship in the Airship Saga began first as a two man crew, which then expanded to a four man crew for much of the adventures around Gaia. Consisting of two fallen demigods, the descendant of a Titan, and a human mechanic this crew of adventurers began their journey first looking to set out to travel the Gaian landscape in search of a way to return their abilities back to the fallen demigods. However, that mission has since changed because of attacks from the Kuro Mafioso and vampires at the behest of the dark god Nyx.

Here's a brief rundown of the current crew found on the main airship in the Airship Saga:

✘ Overseer/Marius: Marius first made his debut around the site with the introduction of the Aquarium feature in the form of a clam that granted daily prizes to aquarium owners based on how happy they kept their fish. In October of 2009 in response to the release of Sentinel from confined prison box Marius, still going by Overseer, left Phin Pang and proceeded to possess Gino Gambino who was naked in the shower in order to have a human form capable of leading a defense against Sentinel. In the end Overseer was stripped of his powers by Gaia through the use, or impersonation, of the holiday spirit Jack. Overseer is on the Airship because he believed the following Xmas, after spending the month of November living in the streets, that filling in for Santa would be the key to regaining his godly powers. It was because of a trade with Nicolae that the first makeshift version of the airship would have an engine. Before finally connecting with the Goddess Gaia Overseer didn't have a defined role upon the airship. Now with the mortal name of Marius he has been tasked with protecting Gino and becoming of man of good standing like Edmund. Marius was originally a designer demigod and according to Gino directly manipulated the world around him.

✘ Sentinel: Sentinel is a demigod who is self absorbed and believes humans are beneath her. After nearly destroying the world in a war with Marius over a thousand years ago Sentinel's demigodly powers backfired trapping her inside an other dimensional prison box. A thousand years of being trapped within the box drove Sentinel insane causing her to hear voices both imagined and real. It was in October of 2009 after seeing several horrible ideas for that year's Halloween event that she was freed of her box by the Halloween spirit Jack. Bent on taking over the world for a second time Sentinel's first act of her dark power was the resurrection of deceased sportscaster Bruce Hardcastle in the middle of his funeral service. After raising an army of Gaians loyal to her Sentinel waged war once again against Marius and his followers. In the end just as Marius had been Sentinel was stripped of her own abilities. Sentinel has taken being mortal very hard and is desperate to gain her demigod abilities and immortality back. Her original reason for going on the 2009 Xmas airship run was pretty much the same as Marius', the desire to get her powers back. Sentinel loves picking on Gino calling him piglet and has a strange relationship with the forest god Peath that tends to border on the romantic. After visiting Dref Dur with no success of connecting with Meili and learning about the death of Johnny Gambino Sentinel has taken a soft spot towards Gino but she will not admit it. She has been very critical of the Goddess Gaia for refusing to return her powers and has gone so far as to blame her for Meili's death. On the Airship Sentinel's role has been shown to be that of pilot. Like Marius Sen was a designer god directly manipulating the world around her.

✘ Gino Gambino: The only son of Johnny Gambino, third son of Rosalie Gambino, and half brother to Ian and Louie Von Helson. Last of the Gambino line, Gino has been experimented on by his father, had Johnny living inside of him, was once the Masque, was kidnapped by vampires, lived with Liam in Aekea, was once possessed by Marius, and had a case of glowing crotch pearls. After the events of Halloween 2009 Gino feeling embarrassed and a failure decided to stow away on the airship looking for adventure and a new start far away from the four towns of Gaia. After a makeover from Brennivin Gino was made the navigator of the airship as he has the most knowledge of the Gaian landscape out of the crew. It was Gino who made contact with the God Meili when the airship docked on Dref Dur and there learned a massive secret about his family, that he was the last heir of a titan. Gino obviously misunderstood the news right before Meili was killed by the vampire Zhivago. After learning the Goddess Gaia was in his hometown of the Isle Gino was finally told the true lineage of the Gambino family, that he is the heir to the power of the Titan of Ambition the first of the Gambino line. It was at the request of Gaia that Gino be the one to put an end to her son Nyx. Gino has shown to have an incredible talent for drawing as he has been keeping an illustrated journal of their journey.

✘ Ladyhands: Not much is known about Ladyhands. His given name has never been revealed, however, he has rather proudly revealed that his nickname of Ladyhands is due to the size of his hands. Ladyhands is known to be in the employ of Brennivin for six years prior to meeting Gino and the Demigods. Ladyhands' job aboard the airship has been that of mechanic from the first day he began working for Brenny. Four weeks prior to the start of the chapter Leash Ladyhands was sent below decks to give the engines a complete retune and pneumatic audit. It was only when he ran out of canned food and completed his task that he made his presence known to the others. Because of his dainty hands Ladyhands was the one to remove the vampire knife from Peath's exoskeleton. Ladyhands has also been given the task of keeping watch over Gino, though not successfully. Other than that his role on the ship has pretty much remained that of mechanic. Ladyhands is known to be in possession of a short wave radio that was used by Edmund to contact Old Man Logan in order to warn Louie of an attack on his store.

✘ Edmund: Edmund is the owner of H&R Wesley a retailer of high end ready to wear men's and ladies' fashions. Before taking the position he was employed by Johnny Gambino whom he considered to be a very good friend. Edmund is a scientific genius and adventurer having known and traveled with Old Man Logan in his youth whom he is still closely allied with. Edmund was also close with Johnny's late wife Rosalie unsuccessfully helping to reunite her with her sons. He has been a mentor and secondary parental figure to all three of Rosalie's sons: Ian, Louie, and Gino (with the later being only recently). Edmund's role within the Airship Saga has been to fulfill a promise made to Johnny Gambino shortly before his death to find Gino and bring him back to the Isle safely. Because of his skill with a blade and past success in permanently scaring the vampire Zhivago Edmund has been able to keep Zhivago from trying to kill Gino a second time after he was successful in killing Gaia's eldest son Meili. Edmund is considered by the Goddess Gaia to be a very upstanding man and someone Marius should model himself after. Edmund has no official role upon the airship but has vowed to stay upon the ship as long as Gino remained upon it. Currently, he is helping to lead the efforts to defend Durem from Nyx alongside Gino's older half-brothers Ian and Louie. Edmund's short wave radio handle, as reveled by Old Man “Papa Bear” Logan, is Slim and he is an expert with a sword to the point where Zhivago is intimidated by him and others on the ship are nervous around him and Gino wouldn't dare do anything to anger him.

✘ The Airship Saga officially began on October 22, 2009 with the manga update Demonbusters: Fable Fury Demonbusters was the official name of the Halloween event for 2009 and was hinted at with two mini comics, Potato Annihilation and Auditions.

✘ In H2k9: Ginoverseer Revelations Sentinel revives Bruce Hardcastle who previously died by potato chocking in Potato Annihilation during the middle of his funeral services.

✘ To date there are 34 chapters and mini comics included within the Airship Saga. While Gaia keeps the Frontier Skies event separate of the rest of the Airship Saga on the manga home page the events taking place within are considered to be part of the Airship Saga. An Old Friend's Duty, the start of Frontier Skies, takes place right after page 16 of the chapter A New Man.

✘ The original plan for the Airship Saga was to be a one year plot arc from Halloween of 2009 to Xmas of 2010.

✘ According to reapersun, the Airship Saga's time line is considered to take place within the original one year time frame for the plot arc. While other events and plot bits have taken place within the six years since the Airship Saga has begun this plot arc still takes place in that 2009 to 2010 time frame.

✘ Reapersun has also stated that the Airship Saga revival chapters of Return, Son, and Dark Moon take place around late summer to early fall of 2010 placing the events that happen five years within Gaia's past. This means that other events and bits of plot take place after the events of the Airship Saga.

✘ Ladyhands had been in the hold of the GOSH Airhsip for weeks before he was found by Sentinel, Marius/Overseer, and Gino at the end of A New Man. When he first meets the rest of the GOSH crew Sentinel offers up Gino as a sacrifice as they believed him to be some type of criminal.

✘ On page 17 of Leash Sentinel imagines herself getting married to Peath in a small thought bubble at the bottom of the page with a far off dreamy look upon her face. Here you can see Sentinel in a full wedding dress and Peath wearing a tuxedo's bow tie.

✘ In Gino's Journal Day 19 the gods mentioned are The God of Block Parties, The God of Toenails, The God of Curiosity, The God of Pockets, The God of Bacterial Infection, and The God of Dirty Corners that happens to be the Dust Bunny EI. It is also revealed that Peath is the God of the Deep Forest.

✘ Following the death of Meili and the confirmation of his father's death Gino makes two “silent” journal page illustrations of those who will not be returning to the Gaia plot. The first page honoring Meili came 29 days into his journey with Marius and Sentinel while the second page confirming Johnny's death was drawn without the number of days that passed during the journey

✘ What is the Gaia Casimir Alliance: The Gaia Casimir Alliance, or GCA, is a group of airship captains, casimir tree horticulturalists, and their supporters founded in May of 2010 during the initial stages of the Airship Saga.

✘ What is the goal of the GCA: The goal of the GCA is twofold. Our primary goal is to discuss the plot as it relates to airships, casimir trees, the Goddess Gaia, and the central NPCs of the current plot arc. Our secondary in world goal is to support the Edmund Gino Overseer Sentinel LadyHands Airship Initiative, or the Edmud GOSH Initiative. As supporters of the GOSH Airship we stand for turning Overseer/Marius and Sentinel into people of upstanding character, returning Edmund to his shop, and most importantly supporting Gino in the quest to protect the Gaian world. We also put our support behind the Goddess Gaia and her efforts to bring peace back to the world that bears her name.

✘ Where can the GCA be found: The GCA can usually be found in the GCA Thread housed in the Gaia Community Discussion forum. We also have the GCA guild where we plan events, chat about general topics, and occasionally role-play within the Gaian world. Within the world of Gaia the main headquarters of the GCA is located on the non canon floating port town of Porta Denia.

✘ What is the history of the GCA: The GCA is born of the GCD Casimir Tree Center and Airport, the second GCD Airport, and the third GCD Airport plot discussion threads for the initial chapters of the Airship Saga and the Frontier Skies Event. The airports were the threads where lovers of airships and casimir trees could share their airships and casimir trees. It was because of those threads that user made airships made it into the Frontier Skies manga pages. The GCA was one of two role-play and fan hang out guilds that appeared because of the manga. With the revival of the Airship Saga into a weekly release in April of 2014 and Gaia sending out her Tokens the GCA has been revived into a full fledged plot group in the tradition of the GCD Airport.

✘ Do you have to be from Porta Denia to be in the GCA: While we may be located on Porta Denia for role-playing purposes (as I try not to step on actual site canon as much as I can) being from there is not a requirement. The GCA is a true global organization with branch offices in each of the four main towns on the mainland of Gaia. That is why the main motto of the GCA is “Four branches one tree” signifying that while we are all from different towns around Gaia (the branches) we are all a part of the same Gaian community (the tree).

✘ Why do you call the airship the GOSH Airship: It's simple really. The ship has no established canon name like the Bifrost or Denier * Cri. GOSH was originally a silly acronym I threw together during the days of the GCD Airport threads when I noticed the first letters of Gino, Overseer, and Sentinel along with the first letter in the second part of LadyHands spelled out GOSH that has stuck around the GCA for the last five years. It's easier to refer to the NPCs allying behind Gino the GOSH Crew now.

I joined because I don't want to see the beautiful land of Gaia covered in Darkness and thrown into Chaos because of Nyx and because I want to protect the world that the Goddess Gaia gave to us.

I'm a member because besides refusing to let Nyx letting this place shroud in darkness,, plus I have a dislike for anyone using the Moon for evil purposes.

I joined the GCA because a) I believe that good over evil, even a chance people who think they are in the evil side to have a change of heart (aka. a second chance); b) you can't beat the good things Mother Nature has created; and c) I love the idea of having airships with casimir trees as an eco-friendly engine aside from creating the designs for them.

Bonus: The fact that Nyx destroying Durem (my main home) really ticks me off and made me go to Gaia's side, despite of Gaia did punish young Nyx for messing up Marius and Sentinel's relationship, which he's still developing his calling.

I joined GCA because it's a great place to hang out with some real cool people with great ideas surrounding the plot.

More personally (and probably pretty obviously), it was because the group supports the Goddess Gaia whose favorite son just happens to be Meili. ninja

If you really enjoy talking about the plot or are a fan of one of the featured NPCs on the main airship in this plot arc and are looking for a place to call home and a way to make Gaia a better place for us all then why not give the GCA a shot. It doesn't matter what town you hail from because as our motto says: Four branches one tree.

Throughout the duration of the NPCon anyone who posts in the thread will be given a ticket for entry into a drawing for one of two fabulous door prizes. It's time once again for another Best Dressed contest. For this and future events we'll be running two Best Dressed contests, one for Human based avatars and one for Paws based avatars. The idea of the contest is fairly simple. We give you a theme to work with and you make the best avatar you can based on that theme with your dress up page. You don't need to actually own every item on the avatar so long as it fits the theme you can use the All option in the item search function or the Avibuilder to create your avatar. Themes will be based either on the event theme itself or something related to the holiday around which the event takes place.

✘ Theme: It's convention time and that means showing off your creative skills through elaborate costumes. Whether it's looking like your favorite character or simply dressing to fit the theme of your favorite fandom the fun is all in the costume. That's why for the NPCon your themes will be fairly simple to pull off, Airship Crew or dress up as your favorite featured NPC from the Airship Saga. Airship Crew is a pretty self explanatory theme where you put together your best steampunk skills and take to the skies as though you were going on your own airship adventure. With the NPC cosplay theme we want to see your take on the NPCs featured in the Airship saga of the manga. Any NPC that has been shown from Demonbusters to Dark Moon, including Frontier Skies, will be fair game, which means yes we will accept Diedrich cosplays as he was an airship guide.
