Oreburgh City is a city located in central Sinnoh. Oreburgh is first accessible via the Oreburgh Gate, which is to the west of the city. This is one of two connecting routes to the City, the other being Route 207 to the city's north. Oreburgh is a mining town blessed with significant natural resources. Prominent vents throughout the city exchange the stale air from the mines below with fresh, above-ground air.
In the city's south are the Oreburgh Mines, and Oreburgh is also the location of the first Gym in Sinnoh, led by -blank-. It is there where Trainers can earn the Coal Badge, the first Badge available to Trainers seeking to conquer the Sinnoh region's Pokémon League. Other points of interest include the Oreburgh Mining Museum. The miners often take breaks in the Gym between the work shifts and, similarly, -blank- allows the citizens of the town train their Pokémon in the mines.
Oreburgh Mining Museum
The Oreburgh Mining Museum is a museum located in Oreburgh City, Sinnoh. It is a large museum that contains rare displays and attractions about coal mining and the Oreburgh Mine. Its primary importance is the resurrection of Fossils, which is done with the help of the man near the counter. The Oreburgh Mining Museum's motto is "Coal Mining and You".
Exhibits
The Oreburgh Mining Museum hosts a wide array of different displays and attractions. There is a large slab of coal located near the entry, in front of the information desk. It was carried to the museum from the Oreburgh Mine by a strong Pokémon. Next to the front desk, is a sign that states some fact, about the Oreburgh Mine extending under the seafloor. On the right of that is a glass cabinet displaying how coal is made:
"In a time long before history, vegetative matter was swept along by rain and rivers. It came to be buried under the ground. The buried plant matter was forced ever deeper under the ground due to tremors and fissures caused by the shifting landmasses. Deep under the ground, the plant matter was subjected to heavy pressure and the heat of magma. It gradually turned into coal."
Below that is a section containing displays of past underground headlamps, scarred wooden tools from the olden days, and everyday items and tools. There are also samples of coal from different regions and boxes containing categorized samples of coal.
Oreburgh Mine
The Oreburgh Mine is one of the main features in the city, as well as the city's leading energy source. It is the livelihood of the town. Vents in the town allow steam to escape and fresh air to enter the mine, likely also clearing the mine of any poison gas (which is historically the bane of coal miners). The mine is operated with the utmost care to avoid causing damage to the natural habitats of wild Pokémon. The system of taking coal out of the mine is automated. -blank- lets Trainers from the town train their Pokémon in the mine. The mine itself extends not only under the town, but the seafloor as well. All of the miners have their own Pokémon, usually Machop, to assist them in the mine.
The first part of the cave is the entrance where there is a stairwell that will gradually make its way down to the underground cavern. There are steel drums and crates located around the area, as well as a small conveyor belt, that, in Pokémon Platinum extends to the undersea floor.
The sub floor, which contains a large piece of slab in the middle, is more complex. There are a few workers digging at the slab, but there are some who are training their Pokémon and are eager for a battle. There are two ways of getting around the slab, but only by traveling counter-clockwise can a player make a full rotation around the slab, as there is a small ledge blocking the path. There are a couple of crates located on this floor as well.
Oreburgh Gym
The Oreburgh Gym is the official Gym of Oreburgh City. It is based on Rock-type Pokémon. The Gym Leader is -blank-. Trainers who defeat him/her receive the Coal Badge.
