Hi, I've been away for a little while, inflation is insane, but I'm sure you've all herd this many times before.

I've been practicing my art skills and have wanted to reopen a shop.
Art takes me a long time ( I enjoy it but I am using my real hours for virtual money), would it be wrong of me to make my prices slightly higher or instead underprice a little, so I can get the gold from the shop and donate half to a sink and half to an item quest?

(I'm not even really sure about buying or questing for things right now because prices are crazy.)

Or is that a silly idea? Maybe said person would just go on to buy a gold gen or use the market place to get enough gold through the new GC feature (when it comes back)?

Do shops that only accept items work well or do you think gold shops work better?

I would definitely like your advice on it. Thanks in advance.

I do not think it is wrong of you to charge a little more. I think your plan to donate half and the rest for questing is a great idea!

im not sure which type of shops work better (maybe the item only ones since more expensive items tend to have prices that never stop growing? but then again it depends~)

i like your idea of selling your art for more though biggrin you get paid more for your work (though u dont get to keep it) and youre sinking half of it biggrin

i also draw (though i've never bothered to sell anything on gaia) but maybe its something i should consider too~~ 'u'

It might Ben nice idea id get some people together and draw to help a little. Usually even before the inflation I did pay what you want things becuase the gold never meant that much. Now I've come back and some items are incredible but the prices are crazy.

Now that there is the gc option for the MP I'm not so sure anymore! D:

I used to help run a mini shop with an artist friend of mine so I've at least seen how the process typically works. At any given time there's usually a high enough demand for art that artists can set any price they want and buyers will be desperate enough to pay those prices. Basically, if a buyer wants your art it doesn't matter what it costs.

My advice would be to set a price that you think is fair, but not too fair, but also accept expensive items off your wishlist as an alternative means of payment so you can bypass item questing entirely. You'd be surprised by how insanely generous some of those art buyers can be.

My other piece of advice would be not to overdo it. Don't take on too many orders all at once and don't take on any project you don't think you can handle. It's important to know your limits so you don't burn yourself out.
