The only thing Ruth had worth stealing were the supplies she collected in the Great Hall. And even then, she might argue that only the alcohol was worth protecting. The shouting knight surprised Brenley as well, so much so that he stopped fighting again just to stare. And then the creature was dead.
"Thanks," he said, giving in to his impulse to kneel at the creature's side and look it over. He had always run off once they were dead, but with these others here, it was probably safe to examine it further.
