Liryn had been thinking perhaps a few days or mayhaps even a week when he had sat - well more like flopped on the floor at HQ in the aftermath of helping the gathered cats gathered dust the youma that had dared to think it could invade Cat HQ.
They had taught it differently, although the HQ had sustained some damage in the form of topped over stuff and holes from the toxic spit that the youma had coughed up - not to mention the bit where the wall had 'sploaded.
The important things were okay though - like the computers - and even more importantly they had managed to dust the thing without any mauvian casualties.
Things had been a bit busy so it was actually not until it was getting on towards the end of March that Liryn managed to get the chance to work on the device that had been the actual purpose of the cat gathering in HQ.
He had started by meticulously taking apart the device that Ash had grumpily put together along with others for them to use or not as she had put it before trying to put it back together, doing his best to remember the instructions that she'd given them before the youma's rude interruption as he did so.
It had taken a few goes - well okay more than a few goes but Liryn had time and well when he wanted to he could also be pretty persistent and eventually he thought that he had it down pat - even if he had had to take a bit of time out to try out things here and there so that he could see what the effect was.
With the device once again put together it was time to customise the cover so that instead the blue cover with the yellow star, he had something that better fit him.
He had ended up with something in colours of pale green, bronze and jade, with a bronze almost clock-like hand etched on the cover which he thought would do nicely especially when he spoke to it and told it to switch on and then tried calling up messaging and the contacts using his voice.
He whooped with glee as one by one they came up and although the projection wasn't perfect , it had a tendency to go all wavy and cut out from time to time, that was a small matter that Liryn could look at later - after all he now had a communication device all of his very own!
He called up the contacts again, noting that it was currently empty - but it didn't matter because he had a fix for that in the form of Athene's phone which he had borrowed for this very purpose.
It took a while, but eventually he had copied over contacts into his device.
Liryn wasn't sure what made him decide to look at the settings function on Athene's phone, most likely an accidental paw press, but he noticed that there was a setting for downloads in there and once he had noticed it there was nothing for it but to have a look into it.
There was a new app in there, created by Ash, the description mentioning that the app was a distress signal app and a way to call for back up in tight spot cases.
It looked useful so he downloaded it onto Athene's bronze and jade phone and changed the background whilst he was at it to add a picture of Athene with Tsui and Ida - one that seemed prior to when Ida had got her glowy markings.
And he got to thinking on that app in downloads and specifically if he could make one... Actually he was pretty sure he could make one, although he would have to do some research which would mean making a trip to the library.
It would also mean thinking on what sort of app to make.
That was for another day though. For now he needed to get Athene's phone back to him and to check Ida's phone to see if she had seen the app that Ash had created... He made a mental note to also check the phones for rest of his team at the first opportunity and also see if Vespa had a phone.
He vanished Athene's phone and his spiffy new communication device into his pocket.
All in all it had been a good day's work.
