Chase was born in a houndoom pack that lives by the River Styx near the rainforest. His mother is Morana and his father Agni, a young male who who died in a territorial dispute with neighboring Pokemon. The pack is small, still recovering from a disaster more than two decades ago when they're main source of water was poisoned. Many of the survivors were left unable to have children, though by Chase's time their numbers are beginning to recover.
His mother had always been quiet, shy and soft-spoken, small for one of her species. He never understood the respect the pack had held for her, especially one of mixed blood ( his grandfather was a manectric ) until their pack was threatened one day by a rival pack of Luxray. One of them had cornered the pup and about to kill her when Morana arrives, fur standing on end and cackling with electricity, her roar freezing everyone to the spot. Chase simply cowered with awe as he watched his mother transform from the gentle, quiet creature she usually was into a terrifying force of nature; none of the attackers walked away alive. He later learned that her mate, his father, had been killed.
That was when he finally heard the stories. Of the guilds, and Team Polaris and their role in a legendary battle that sundered the lands. His mother tried to brush the stories off, but he was enthralled to hear such tales, the legacy he had inherited. He wanted that too. He wanted more than just hunting by this lazy river all day forever; he wanted to see the world, and be seen as a hero.
When news that the guild was being rebuilt and reclaiming the lands under it, Chase immediately wanted to go and start his own team. His mother had done so at his age, hadn't he? Morana immediately forbade it, but that didn't stop him from sneaking off anyways.
Mother worries too much. He can handle himself just fine.
