 There it was. Boss had waited weeks for this and spent the entire night outside the store for the new game to arrive. He wasn't the only one, however, and being as small as he was, lacked the muscle to shove his way through the crowd when the doors opened.
By the time the colt found his way to the game section and the area where his sought-after game was supposed to be found, something caught his eye. There were a decent number of copies left, but at the top of a high shelf glinted a metallic foil box promising a limited edition version with extra features and hidden cut-scenes.
Not that he could read the box from his height, but he'd read about it from promo posters and advertisements; he just hadn't imagined he'd have been able to get his hooves on it. It was the only one of its kind left and Boss reveled in his incredible luck. Now if only he could just reach it...but how?
If he was twice his size or had one of his older siblings around, they could have got it down for him, but he didn't trust anyone not to get it for themselves. In addition, if he went off to try to get a store worker or a stool or ladder, someone could come along and take it instead. He stared hard at his prize, pondering his dilemma.cursedandwandering ((Sorry this took so long and thank you for being so patient with me. sweatdrop And also as usual please let me know if there's anything I need to change!))

Kitomyx OH MY GOD KITO. ;-; I THOUGHT I REPLIED TO THIS BUT APPARENTLY I DIDN'T. I'M SO SORRY.
Despite being fully grown, the earth girl still was a small phony. Her mother was considered extremely short for their kind and she was only a bit taller, which meant seeing past larger members of the crowd. However, Paws was exceedingly fond of jumping, which she was now taking advantage of in order to get a good look at the merchandise. She just had to have the shiniest, nicest box of the whole batch.
After several bounces she finally spotted it. Up on the top shelf was the special limited edition which promised a holographic cartridge inside it's shiny wrappings. "OH. MY. GOD!" She let out a squeal, flailing her hooves about in an attempt to reach it.

While he was staring up at the box, Boss jumped at the unexpected squeal that came from somewhere beside him before doing a double-take. At first he thought the newcomer was a foal like him with how she kept jumping around with such vigor, but then he noticed she was a tad bit taller than him.
He would have checked her flank to see if she had a cutie mark, but she was entirely covered in a latex body suit which made that impossible. Frowning, he realized she was dressed as one of the characters from the very game he had been standing in line for. That meant she was a fan, too, which meant she was competition.
Her cry from earlier indicated to him that he was already too late. She had already seen what Boss had been hoping no one else would notice. The colt immediately became hostile towards his new enemy. "Whaddya think you're doin'?!" he snapped at the jumping, flailing phony. "I saw it first! That makes it mine! You think you can jus' come along an' take it jus' 'cause you can jump higher than me?!"
To show her he meant business, the young earth phony jumped up as well and attempted to shove the mare away from the shiny box in mid-air.cursedandwandering ((Hahaha, well I took longer, so now it's all good. XD))

The mare blinked in shock as the sound of a foal crying out reached her ears. For a moment her lips pursed as the colt shouted at her, drawing the brief attention of the crowd. Hmmm... The boy did seem to want the game an awful lot. The thought was enough to give Paws pause for a moment as Boss pushed her away.
"Hmph!" She stumbled along the floor, grabbing a now empty lower shelf for support.
Well that wasn't very nice! Flashing a grin, the petite mare began to climb up the shelves. She definitely wasn't going to give up now, even if he was just a kid.
"Race you to it!"

Boss grinned triumphantly when he managed to successfully push his rival out of his way, but that triumph was short-lived when she sprung back up faster than he anticipated and began climbing the shelves. A larger phony might not have managed it, but at this rate he was pretty sure she was going to beat him to the top. Physical ability had never been one of his strong points. That was one reason he had stuck to video games.
Still, he wasn't about to back off just because of a silly thing like that! He couldn't give up his prize without a fight. The colt quickly began to follow his pursuer up the shelves as best he could, trying not to think of the consequences if they slipped and fell. This was exactly why he hadn't tried to climb the shelves when he'd first spotted the box.cursedandwandering (( heart I'm so sorry he's such a butt sweatdrop ))
