All sentient creatures on Earth have an aura, a colorful and lively energy unseen by the naked eye and unidentifiable with any type of modern technology. Auras are all around us but only psychics with a keen third eye are capable of not only seeing auras but analyzing and learning the deeper aspects about the people and animals around them as a result. Human auras are quite unique and notably more complex than those of animals. If an entity is non-living, inorganic, or non-sentient then it does not have an aura; this means that plants, while alive and organic, do not have auras because they do not carry the level of sentience required of higher order brain functions.
Here you will come to understand the mechanics of auras and how they tie into your character as an individual. Aura Reading is a unique ability among psychics that must be trained and understood but is fairly common. For those with this power, the following information is vital. You can find a character's aura by looking at their cert, thumbnails, or their profile. Members of faculty also have their auras listed here in depth.

”Aura colors are a reflection of your personality, your Primal Self.”
At birth, a baby's aura is amorphous; it is constantly changing color, size, and frequency, through the first few years of life until it settles into its true nature. An aura is most typically seen, in its simplest form, as a colorful outline surrounding a person or animal's body. Auras are shown through PSI Powers; the color of a levitation ball, PSI Punch, and even a PSI Blast, all change depending on the color of someone's aura.
The base components of an aura color are actually two separate colors: primary and secondary. The primary color is most noticeable and carries the weight of the aura while the secondary is more of a contrast or accent, usually only seen as a thin outline around the primary – this is most easily seen on levitation balls. A primary color is a reflection of someone's major personality archetype while the secondary is a more minor archetype they exhibit. After all, no one is just a single personality trait. It is also important to differentiate between someone's personality and their demeanor; demeanor, or how they present themselves, is often affected by their current emotional state rather than their personality.
It is possible for certain colors to blend together if someone shares traits from another archetype, depending on their proximity in the spectrum. For instance, someone may have a yellow-green or red-orange aura but colors like yellow-purple simply do not exist on the spectrum and would instead be reflected as a yellow primary and purple secondary. If it's difficult to place someone squarely into a single spectrum, chances are they have a mixed aura. This does not mean they are more complex people than those with a single spectrum, it merely reflects their unique personality.
Below is a list of all known aura colors across the spectrum and the accepted personality traits attached to them. Spectrums are divided by their main color, though include all sorts of hues.
Purple
Contains violet, magenta, lavender, tyrian, etc.
It is a color that resonates deeply with unseen energy and spirits. Individuals with a purple aura have active thoughts, are imaginative and creative, open minded, and show concern for all things. They have a strong connection and understanding of the astral plane and make for very strong, though generally passive, psychics.
Blue
Contains cobalt, indigo, navy, teal, etc.
Individuals with a blue aura have intuitive thoughts, think and feel in literal senses, they are balanced people and tend to be born survivors. Generally these people feel relaxed or calm. Teal is a blue-green subspectrum that resonates strongly; they are pleasant and outgoing, good at influencing others in a positive manner.
Green
Contains jade, forest, olive, avocado, etc.
Those with a green aura generally have a calm demeanor and are natural healers. They resonate well with plants and taking care of others, they are very loving people who care unconditionally for many in their lives. These people tend to enjoy peace and quiet and wish to lead lives with similar qualities.
Yellow
Contains lemon, cadmium, ochre, gold, etc.
Individuals with a yellow aura are confident and strong, generally taking leadership positions. They have strong aspirations and hold themselves and others to high standards. These people are well motivated and work hard to achieve their goals. It is as easy for these people to be content as it is to become distressed.
Orange
Contains peach, tangerine, pumpkin, cinnabar, etc.
Folks with orange auras are loyal and friendly, they build strong relationships and have a good sense of togetherness. They excel through teamwork and are good caregivers who work well with new environments and people. These people can be very uplifting and inspiring – they're all about cooperation.
Red
Contains ruby, crimson, scarlet, maroon, etc.
It is a color that resonates well with the material plane. They are often passionate and unapologetic of their interests and how absorbed in the material plane they are. Many within the red spectrum hold little fear of death or over indulgence, leading to daredevil behavior. Despite this, they are often helpful and caring.
Pink
Contains rose, coral, salmon, hot pink, etc.
Individuals with pink auras are gentle and loving, they embrace love in all forms and build strong emotional bonds. They are very comforting and enjoy making others feel stable. Even their most subtle attempts will often win a person over. These people have a balance between the material and astral plane.
White
An aura that only reflects bad news.
This color aura generally refers to physical illness but can also reflect a blank slate. If, say, someone's brain were to be removed, or their life was slipping away, they would take on a white aura. In the case of illness a person's aura would slowly whiten until death or regain its natural glow through treatment. It is not possible for someone to have a white aura if they are healthy or their brain is fully intact. Disease or other illness is only shown by a white aura if it the sort of illness that would put someone's life in danger, whether recovery is possible or not. (So you won't find someone with the common cold carrying a white aura!!)

”Frequency is a level of stress measurement.”
Worry, stress, depression, and even amoral intentions may cloud a person's aura with noise. Noise results in a dulling of color, comparable to TV static, and can make it difficult to gauge a person's true feelings, obscuring the subtle changes in size or shape a person may have and even how closely two spectrums of aura blend. The clearer a person's aura the easier it is to read and the more "pure" they are to themselves. Individuals with mental illness often have a high noise level in their aura but high levels of noise are not always indicative of mental illness. High frequency means more noise, low frequency means less noise.
The frequency of an aura is something known only in humans. It shows whether a person suffers from anxiety or if their mind is generally clear of high stress thoughts. Unlike humans, animals do not carry with them the same sort of stress, guilt, or other negativity on a daily basis; while they are fully capable of experiencing these things, they tend to be singular emotional events that are somewhat quickly pushed aside. Humans have difficulty calming down from stress and things like guilt or anxiety can weigh down on a person so much as to alter their state of mind and their personality.
While an aura's frequency can and will fluctuate on a daily basis, whether someone has a high or low frequency tells us how they deal with stress and the general state of their mental health. Therefor, a person who defaults to a high frequency aura is someone who may not deal with stress well compared to someone with a generally low frequency aura.

”Aura size measures emotional response.”
The size of one's aura directly correlates to how a person is feeling. This can be reflected in withdrawn or shy individuals having an aura that is pulled close to their bodies or a relaxed and charismatic person having a large outreaching aura. If someone is uncomfortable, their aura may writhe and ripple in size around them. Someone with an active mind may have a larger aura around their head than the rest of their body, someone with strong desires may have a larger aura around their torso and lower body, and someone who is feeling love may radiate their aura from their chest.
Size changes frequently in real time. Everyone deals with and expresses their emotions in different ways! As stated before, animals do not exhibit a frequency to their aura. While they may become stressed or worried, these factor more towards their emotions and thus are reflected in their aura's shape exclusively. As such, their auras may seem more volatile at times, as high stress animals may show this through their aura spiking out around them in all directions. Generally, animals are much easier to read than humans!

”Aura shape exemplifies mental strength and subconscious influence.”
Traditionally, an aura is a colorful light that surrounds the entire body in an outline. This is the most common form an aura will take and the only form that non-psychics and those without proper training will have. Some highly trained individuals, like members of faculty, may have a unique aura shape such that emits around them like a fog, flames, or a halo around their head. They do not choose how their aura manifests, and so this is more insight into their Primal Self. Animals are incapable of generating unique aura shapes. Young psychics – that is to say, anyone below Agent rank – do not have the mental strength to exert their subconscious onto their aura and so are left with the common form of a bodily outline until later in life.
