“If your wealth comes easy, then may it slowly rot and consume you whole.
If it comes from work, and tainted it may be, then may you be blessed by the treasures unseen.”

Now -- March 12th, 11PM PST

Welcome to the Kauzi Ukame members contest!

As the Kauzi take the steps to build up what their colony is and means, they must also take the steps to build up their members. While Ali and Ardavan initially started the desert thieves they had some help from those who would come to be known as the original members.

We will be giving away these members. Who they are and what they did to aid in the building of the desert thieves will be up to you.

Username: Geyser Eelborn
Entering For: Desert Mermaid
B'alam's Name: Nasim ("breeze")
Rank Desired: Scout
Personality: Witty, irreverent, dishonest
Brief History: Nasim woke under the waterfall in the caves, startling people with her growls. For a while, she'd just pop out at anyone who came near the waterfall. When she met a B'alam who was not so easily started, she began to make plans for her life...
Why did they join? She respects Ardavan and has become attached to the bandits he leads. He might not be the leader, but that attachment still remains. It's hard for her not to feel attached--after all, she woke up in that cave. It was like destiny, right?
Skill Sets? She's nimble, fast, observant, with an attention to details. Her eyesight is excellent, as is her hearing. She knows their patch quite well, spending most of her time memorizing it.
Ardavan's Fall: Nasim is heartbroken over Ardavan's injury. Honestly, she doesn't see why Ard can't still be leader, but if he decides to step down and put Ali in his place, well...she'll follow him. She's not entirely happy about it, but hey, who knows? Maybe Ali will do okay. Maybe. Gotta give a guy a chance, right? More than that, though, she feels gutted that Ard got hurt. She sort of blames herself--I mean, a scout shoulda noticed some newbie wandering around the desert, right? Shoulda been able to warn him. So she's got guilt over that definitely.
Ali or Ardavan? Ardavan. Ali's a cool dude and all, and no one's questioning his loyalty, but he's got big paw-prints to fill. That's all she's sayin'.

Extra: Downsides to Nasim: she's dishonest, she cheats at games, she drinks a lot of water, and she can't sing. Like, at all. She likes joking around with the guards, ribbing them and giving them a hard time. Her favorite loot? Danglies. And candy.

.::Extra G R E E D::.
Rank Consideration?: Lead Scout
What makes them a good candidate for the position?: She knows the desert, she's loyal as heck to Kauzi Ukame, and her observational skills allow her to be an excellent scout. She's sure that she's up to the challenge of directing the others.
Do they have an item them hold near, or something they greatly desire? Her greatest treasure is a round stone she found at the bottom of the underground pool, which appears to have a star in the center of it. She keeps it hidden, refusing to tell anyone else where it is. It's not that she's afraid someone will steal it, it's just that...well, people don't actually need to know where it is, so why show it? She loves it because it's pretty and smooth.
Physical, emotional or spiritual riches? Why? Emotional, definitely. It's easier to carry, and you can share it with all of yer mates!

B'alam's Name: Najaat
Rank Desired: Merchant
Personality: Humorous, easy going, restless, fierce
Brief History: Najaat Awoke on the edge of the desert, of all places. Instead of heading towards water (and an entirely different life) Najaat was driven by a desire to see more of the glittering sands. He turned toward the desert. No B'alam had ever crossed his path in his wanderings, but he could often be seen in the skies by those who happened to be on the ground. He was usually too swift to be caught, until someone managed to catch him drinking his fill of water one day at an oasis that was not a part of his usual haunting grounds. He had unknowingly strayed into Kauzi Ukame territory. He is caught, questioned, and eventually given a choice. During his stay, he grows to respect those in charge and sought to join their ranks as a respected member of the colony.
Why did they join? At first he was skeptical of the place, with good reason. He was an outsider and he had intruded on their territory. But now he knew where they were and letting him go would be out of the question. He's given a choice: Stay and be of use, or... Well, stay and be a prisoner. He chose to be helpful and embrace the colony as his home. After all, he didn't have anything before.
Skill Sets? Najaat has keen eyesight, not much gets passed him. He is shrewd, intelligent, has excellent hearing and is swift. More importantly to his trade, he has great attention to detail and can craft amazingly delicate pieces of jewelry. He particularly likes gems and gold.
Ardavan's Fall: Najaat has great respect for Ardavan. He respects Ali too, but he isn't sure he can lead the group effectively.
Ali or Ardavan? Having respect for both, Najaat is on the fence and will need to be swayed one way or the other. He is wary of trusting Ali to lead him properly.

Extra:
Najaat is a huge and terrible flirt and can frequently be found grinning like a fool at a pack of females. He secretly wants to find his mate more than anything and is actually a big softie. He often makes little trinkets for the cubs.

.::Extra G R E E D::.
Rank Consideration?: Lead Merchant
What makes them a good candidate for the position?: Najaat is perceptive with others and knows the cues to look for in order to avoid being swindled. He does tend to be fair in his trades, however. He is also a wonderful crafter of jewelry and has some skill with making dyes.
Do they have an item them hold near, or something they greatly desire? His greatest desire is a mate! Part of why Najaat decided to stay with the group was because he hoped to find a place he could call home and a female who would complete him.
Physical, emotional or spiritual riches? Why? A mix of physical and emotional. While he does want a family of his own, he has a great love of shiny things.

Entering For: Dark Spots
B'alam's Name: Isha [ Night prayer ]
Rank Desired: Vizier
Personality: Honorable, headstrong, extremely willing, prude at times, a little bossy, and rather vain
Brief History: Being a bandit was not ever in Isha's blood. At least, she didn't think so. Having awoken in the realm of the Fire tribe, she had known who she was, even if she didn't quite feel like it. She had tried to earn her place amongst her kin, but she had trouble fitting in. Typical Fire tribe things were not her ways. Frustrated and in the dark about herself, she left the only home she knew, attempting to find who she was meant to be.
Why did they join? As a Fire B'alam, Isha was taught and understood that her species was very honorable. To BE Fire was the greatest honor there was. She did not feel like she bestowed any kind of honor among her own kind though... Upon the leaving of her home, she happened across the Kauzi territory. Figuring that she may as well try something before she knocked it, she decided to take their lifestyle head on.
Skill Sets? Isha has an uncanny talent for being bossy. Perhaps it's just part of Fire blood, but she can typically tell others what to do and it'll be done. Her fire wielding isn't strong, but her spirit is. She uses her looks and her claws to her advantage. While she might be a tad pushy in her ways, she's still extremely honorable to those she lives and fights with. She's not one to forsake.
Ardavan's Fall: As her leader, Isha is heartbroken over Ard's battle and crippling injury. Wanting to rip into the territorial stranger to show him a thing or two, Isha stands by the side of Ard, helping him in any way she can. She hopes her efforts will possibly revitalize him enough to have him lead once more, but that is merely a fantasy.
Ali or Ardavan? Isha really has no preference, at least not yet. If Ard has chosen Ali to lead in his stead, then she trusts that he will do a fine job. She will be wary of his decisions though, always going back to Ard to get his opinion on a matter.

Extra: With time, Isha will warm up greatly to Ali. She has a thing for the more bad boys, especially in looks. Ard's injury will begin to grow tiresome to her, and she might even start seeing it as an excuse to not lead their group anymore. It's not that she doesn't still respect Ard... It's just that Ali has them looks. She likes the looks.

.::Extra G R E E D::.
Rank Consideration?: Lead Vizier
What makes them a good candidate for the position?: Fiyah, bby! ...In all honesty though, what does Isha have to lose? Nothing, really. This group is her family and her home now. She would never turn on them, at least not willingly. The one thing she will never forget is her honor. While she may not be able to carry that out amongst her own tribe, she still holds it dear to her.
Do they have an item them hold near, or something they greatly desire? A skull she obtained from Fire territory. She took it as a memento to where she came from, so as to never forget what the core of her being is. She likes to look for ways to dress it up and stick it on her head, such as scarves and gold.
Physical, emotional or spiritual riches? Why? Definitely physical. She enjoys how gold matches her eyes. o3o

B'alam's Name: Zahra (Sparkling Bright)
Rank Desired: Merchant
Personality: Zahra is well known for her sunny personality. No matter what, she always seeming to be cheerful and trying to find the silver lining to any bad situation. At times, some may find her cheery disposition to be almost overbearing, but in the end, she always just means well. The Light B'alam can also be very resourceful and has a knack for finding great bargains at the best price and this is accredited to her silver tongue. Because of this 'gift', she has come to enjoy working as a merchant, selling goods and bargaining with potential customers. She has never considered becoming the Lead Merchant, the Light B'alam not boding well beneath stress and thus attempts to avoid it!
A weak point of the female would be her love of gossip. Be it true or false, she enjoys listening to the latest stories that pass through her stalls. Just listening would be one thing, but at times she has the tendency to share the stories she heard, their validation never verified. However, despite her loose tongue when it comes to rumors, her lips are sealed when it comes to a secret of any nature.
Brief History: For the longest time, Zahra has always wanted to have an adventure! Despite she loved Lychnidos, she still wanted to see more outside the lands of the Light tribe and it was misfortune that first lead her to the deserts. A mixture of becoming lost during her journey and clumsily stumbling through new terrains, she would eventually come upon the sandy and vast region of the desert. Instantly she fell in love with the new found territory, finding the warmth enjoyable and the fact that it was easily navigable to be a bonus. However, after spending many days wandering through, she quickly learned it was best to move during nighttime. Not only was the desert cooler but the stone upon her horn projected enough light for her to see her way. Eventually she came across a beautiful Oasis though she did not know she was in the territory of the Kauzi Ukame. The Light B'alam decided to stay within the Oasis for some time, though imagine her surprise when she accidentally bumped into ther B'alam. It took much talking, and with the ability to use her silver tongue, Zahra eventually would convince them for a chance to prove herself valuable, and she did just that when she eventually took up the mantle as a merchant.
Why did they join? Since Zahra was searching for adventure, she found it and more with the Kauzi Ukame. In fact, it didn't take her long to not only have a good time amongst them, but quickly come to love them as her own family. True they are a group of thieves and some of her own kind may frown upon this, but she doesn't care. Plus, in her mind everyday is a new adventure and even though she is a seller of merchandise, she loves listening to the stories that pass through.
Skill Sets? Aside from her silver tongue, Zahra has a keen eye that's great for appraising any type of stolen goods from jewelry to old pieces of discarded junk. She has the ability to bluff quite well and sometimes uses this skill to make what is clearly a false accusation into a rather convincing lie. Since she is a merchant, the Light B'alam has had to learn how to decipher body language which has become very handy during social interactions with her clients.
Ardavan's Fall: There was no words to describe Zahra's response when she learned of Ardavan's fall, the story of how he had fought the stranger still fresh upon her mind even today. Never did she believe that her brave leader would be defeated and when it was announced that he was stepping down so that Ali could take his place, she felt a mixture of feelings. Sadness was the first to fill her heart, she wondering if Ardavan felt disappointment in himself and thought himself to be a failure? Especially when he was fighting such incredible odds. She also often wonders if his paw will ever fully heal or if he will remain a cripple. Not that she would care either way as she had always looked up to Ardavan, but she wonders how others will adjust to that knowledge should it become fact. The other half of her is hoping that Ali proves himself worthy of his new title and trying her hardest to support him in all things, despite the circumstances in which he came into his new position.
Ali or Ardavan? Never did the Light B'alam ever question following Ardavan's leadership, in fact he seemed to be a natural in her eyes! Yet when Ali took reign of the colony, she decided to give the younger sibling an honest chance. Despite Ardavan will have to train Ali, she has faith that he will show himself to be worthy of his new found title. Wholeheartedly she will support him during his leadership regardless of how others may think of the sitaution, and will even defend his position should an argument ever arise. Unless given reason to believe Ali is betraying the colony, she will remain very faithful to her new leader and wish him well upon his new path.
Extra:Icly, Zahra loves working as a merchant and would never choose another rank, however, at times she can be found sneaking off to join the caregivers. She loves cubs and because of it, she enjoys spending any free time given to play with any cubs that are currently in the care of the nannies. When there are no cubs to play with, the Light B'alam has been known to wander around in her boredom and offering to lend a hand in helping those who might need her assistance.

Oocly, as the colony grows, I would love for a opportunity that would allow Zahra to find a competitive merchant to sell against. True all things come back to the colony, but there is noting against a little friendly competition.

.::Extra G R E E D::.
Rank Consideration?: None.
What makes them a good candidate for the position?: N/A
Do they have an item them hold near, or something they greatly desire? One thing that she has always desired is a series of lovely golden bracelets for her paws. As a merchant, she spends hours a day trading jewelry and other wares, but has never owned a piece in her life. Often she will try on those she's selling, dreaming of the day that she can own her own set of bracelets...and maybe a necklace further down the line!

Physical, emotional or spiritual riches? Why? Zahra is quick to answer this question, starting first with emotional riches and finding physical riches to be a close second. Emotional riches, to her, are the life experiences that she cherishes and with her positive personality she believes that she has an abundant amount of memories filled with happiness. The only way that this could improve such riches is if she should find her mate who would complete her torn soul. Physical riches are also a desire, though easily obtainable as long as she stays with the colony working as a merchant. Considering her love and admiration for golden jewelry, it should come as no shock that she would find it quite desirable.

B'alam's Name: Crevan
Rank Desired: Keeper
Personality: He has a very serious nature which extends to his job; he doesn’t like to joke around. Crevan is very thorough and pays attention to every detail of every item that comes in. He is meticulous and methodical in the way he works. There is honor among thieves and he abhors the thought of anyone within the colony getting a bad deal. Anyone caught breaking the thieves honor (stealing from the colony itself) is reported immediately to the Viziers. Crevan is very loyal, and under threat he will take up arms to try and help the guards as best he can.
Brief History: Crevan had always dwelled within the caves outside the desert, alone. What of family and friends? He had none. At night he would venture out, and occasionally track down a rodent or other small creature to supply the blood he needed to live. One night, he terribly misjudged the time and found himself far away from his cave near dawn. He knew that he needed to find a cave soon, or face being blinded by the sun and exposed to its oppressive heat without shelter, and unable to navigate, for the entirety of the day. Crevan spotted an oasis down below and flew to investigate. Nearby, he located a small cave entrance just in time. He retreated into the tunnels far enough from the sun’s rays that he could rest peacefully. However, soon his sleep was disturbed as he was found by patrolling guards. He explained his situation to the guards and was very compliant, but he was taken prisoner. After several weeks, or so it seemed, he was made to do menial tasks. He worked hard, and it was noticed. After some time, he was given an opportunity to become part of the clan and continue working, but this time with benefits, or continue working as he did with no benefits.
Why did they join? He joined because becoming part of the clan was better than serving as little more than practically a slave, and it finally gave him a family as well as a purpose.
Skill Sets? He is very detailed oriented and goes over everything meticulously.
Ardavan's Fall: It will come as a complete surprise, but as unfortunate as it is, he knows that no ruler can lead his people forever.
Ali or Ardavan? Crevan has a respect for both of them, but the change in leadership is not something that sets easy with him. He understands why, and knew leadership would change eventually, but he didn’t think Ali was quite ready. He will, however, remain faithful and do as he is commanded till given reason to do otherwise…

Extra:As hinted below, at some point I'd like to find a mate for him if possible since part of his character and background story was that he longed for a family for so long. Also, though he appears to be a stick in the mud, if everything is running smoothly and he is not behind or busy with work, if the cubs in the colony ask he will play simple games with them or tell them a story to amuse them, though he tries hard to hide this from everyone else.

.::Extra G R E E D::.
Rank Consideration?: Lead Keeper
What makes them a good candidate for the position?: The fact that he is meticulous and goes over everything in detail. He checks his numbers as well as the items in question numerous times. He is very observant and quick to spot a mistake.
Do they have an item them hold near, or something they greatly desire? Being part of the colony is nice, but he does desire to find his other half.
Physical, emotional or spiritual riches? Why? Spiritual riches because to him, to be spiritually sound is like having the key to unlock a door. Specifically? The key to unlocking potential. If he is spiritually sound then he has full confidence in his abilities to accomplish whatever task is set before him. To not be spiritually sound would damage his moral and the enthusiasm he has for his work. Without it, he would merely just go through the motions every day. Next, and a close second, would be emotional riches. True, the gold and pretty trinkets are nice, but he waited a long time to find a family, and now that he has one he doesn’t intend to let it go; he will never sell out. To him, the sense of belonging and being a valued, productive member of the colony is priceless.

B'alam's Name: Roan
Rank Desired: Guard
Personality: He is a youthful B'alam in nature and can be quite mischievous even when being helpful.
Brief History: He's probably the 'youngest' as in the last among the bandits part of the founding group to awaken, but if not and not that it really mattered, he could certainly carry himself as cub-like in some of his behavior. I imagine one instance that can fall under this description is of his first encounter with this band as a whole or in part. This being that by pure luck and chance, he had seen them traveling through the desert and tried to follow. Then when he lost sight of them, he sought them out in a manner that could be described as a cub playing search and find, without really knowing what he would do if he succeeded. He felt he had come close to rediscovering them on a notable number of occasions that followed, but also ended up questioning if he had merely been entertaining mirages. But, it was eventually Roan who was 'found' and recruited as a guard, perhaps because he was being observed to have become fairly improved in surviving in the desert during all his youthful adventuring and displaying potential to continually hone his alertness. I am certainly willing to modify his history with fellow group members as well if my concept of him is chosen.
Why did they join? Likely unknown right off the bat even to him, Roan joined because he was searching for a 'place' he matched with as a part of it in addition to feeling a pull that he was highly interested in learning and finding himself along with being a member of the group.
Skill Sets? I'm thinking he can also be a 'checkpoint for danger factor and/or comrade possibility' sort of guard in that while patrolling and in addition to serving as a barrier to questionable entrances of adventurers who don't have clearance to discover the group's stable whereabouts such as the dens, it is likely he might happen across other B'alam seeking a place to belong. And observing they may have assets that can potentially contribute to the growth and development of the group, he won't disclose where he himself belongs easily and to just any individual for that matter, but he will go about interacting in a sociable manner if there is no threat to react to otherwise. For example, he can 'travel along' carefully a ways with individuals so long as he secretly is mindful that it is along his route of patrol to guard the area. And, he will keep tabs and relay reports about such situations. Then, in the event he may consequently be given the go signal to invite outsiders 'for an interview' he can locate them and/or escort them into the mix of going about his routine duties unhindered.
Ardavan's Fall: Roan would think of Ardavan no less than he did before it.
Ali or Ardavan? With consideration to what transpired, he can understand a decision for leadership change regardless of it being necessary or not. Also, he is of the mind that leadership is not easy business, and thus putting himself in the pawprints of others to think of what it may be like in their experiences, he finds he wouldn't be one to encounter no hardships. So, he can observe and give what support he can to them both.

Extra: This concept is amazing, thank you for a neat event, and I have got more B'alam to send join apps for if they might fit ^u^

Congrats to the winners!

At the moment no one has gained a high title, but that does not mean someone can't claim one later on through dedication and RP!

Please make sure to go through the Colony I/T and read up on anything you might have missed, and post in my certing thread!

Your colony members will be added to the member's list ASAP!

Also, be on the look out for a colony ORP so we can see how well everyone gets along.
