Thankfully Mako didn't work today. He'd already had a rather trying day prior at the bakery, having to deal with a customer that had been spouting off nonsense and demands that were utterly impossible! Wanting three-three tiered cakes in two days?! That was insane! not to mention the massive amount of detail they wanted for each ... and things only got more ugly when Mako tried to 'explain' things to them, which probably wasn't a good idea, considering his own social mannerisms.
But... that day was over now, and he simply had to pick up his paycheck. It was a simple in and out, tucking the check away into the messenger bag that rest at his hip, Emile rested comfortably on his shoulder as per usual, having earned a little poffin from the current worker in there. Nibbling on it, the Emolga made little to no crumbs fall on Mako, grooming his paws diligently once finished. Now where to.... Looking to the sky, the young trainers golden eyes narrowed to stare at the cloud thickened sky, where the brazen sun would peek out from once in awhile. No rain was in sight... perhaps he could tour along the city for awhile...
And so he went on following the sidewalks that held various shops smashed against one another, window shopping in some... and giving pause to one that contained tons of Poke Balls in all sorts of kinds! He eyed a few that he'd always wanted to get for his companions. Perhaps Emile would enjoy a Luxury ball more... and Flua a Net Ball.. a heavy frown formed on his pretty face as he stared probably far more intensely than needed at the windows display, Emile smoothing his silky soft little head against Mako's jaw to try and gain some attention--which worked of course-- a small hand raising to caress the pristine fur slowly. If only money wasn't so tight. And necessities came first, after all!

Today was just as busy as yesterday for him. Trainers come and go all the time. If they didn't come then there must be something wrong with the service at pokemon center. Niko returned to the counter and put down a small cardboard box of requested healing items that the trainers needed for their pokemon. Quickly, he turned around and zipped through many shelves grabbing items here and there before the next customer had finished paying his colleague at the cash register. Just a few more seconds left to go and his shift would be over. When his shift endend, Niko swiped his ID card against the machine to clock himself out. He walked through the employees only hallway and went out through the sliding doors at the front of the pokemon center. He was glad to see that there was still daylight outside. The fresh air smelled wonderful to him from being inside for hours. Reaching into his pocket, he took out a pokeball and let his Torchic, Sia, out of it. Whatever it was that happened in the past seemed to have traumatized her. But it did not bother Niko one bit of having her out and perched onto his shoulder as he moved through the crowd. She never once left his side after he had saved her. He checked the time on his watch and picked up his pace. If he hurried, he would still have time to buy a few pokeballs from the shop nearby. The sidewalks were always full of people. Some were tourists paying a short visit before heading out to the next city. As he had found the shop that he was looking for, there was a boy with his pokemon, both peering through the window staring at the balls being displayed. He smiled and casually stood beside him. It was not unusual for him to run into other trainers every now and then. "Hmm. For trainers. Which balls would you recommend buying?" he asked the boy. His palm rested against the window as he dipped his head forward, and stopped as his forehead touched his hand. Niko ended up peering through the glass to try and see what the boy was staring at. musicaloner7 Trainer: Niko but try to imagine him without the ears. Pokemon: all are found in this journal

His thin, nimble little tan fingers scratched gently under Emile's tiny chin, the Emolga making adorable sounds of pleasure as he was doted on so thoroughly. A few passerby's would coo and aww over the darling sight, but both trainer and Pokemon ignored them. Mako was in intense, deep thought, his golden eyes sharp, and probably way too rigid in how they seemed to try to bore a hole through the glass before him. Mentally he was debating, and calculating his funds, as well as how much he'd need in total for his next trip out to the next town. He'd already been here far longer than expected, and desired, and he'd gone through more jobs than he wanted to think about... his options were dwindling.
Emile pressed his little face against Mako's cheek, the sleek fur smoothing against equally soft skin on the youth, as the rodent began to walk around the backs of his shoulders, rubbing himself against the focused boy.
If only there was a way to get more money... If I could get a raise or something... a better paying job. Mako's lips were pressed firmly, his muscles subconsciously tensing with how extreme he was getting lost in thought, and processing. But little Emile instantly perked up as he heard and sensed the close approach of another. Large ears twitched and wavered, staring straight at the stranger who was growing far too close for comfort. Sparks began to snap and crackle from his cheeks, bright eyes narrowing in a glare to the unknown man, curling around Mako's neck like a scarf protectively, 'Ehm-o...' he gave a warning to Niko.
But it was Niko's voice that actually grabbed Mako's attention, making him nearly jump in surprise from the sudden voice breaking his line of concentration, snapping his own attention straight over to the stranger. His cheeks flushed brightly with embarrassment, a bit flustered from being caught off guard as he had, but quickly recovered with a frown, and grit teeth. "Well it depends, of course." he retorted back sharply, averting his gaze as he tried to compose himself again, crossing his arms tightly over his chest. "What kind of Pokemon are you thinking of catching?" he asked quickly afterwards, a pout forming on his pretty face, adjusting his glasses to distract himself. Who did this guy think he was, just sauntering up to him like this? Without any warning, too!

Sia heard the crackling sounds nearby and hopped over to the other shoulder to check it out. She stared at the Emolga with fire in her eyes. How dare you be angry at Niko. He is nice owner! She flapped her wings and puffed her chest to make herself look bigger. "Ssssss. Si. Sia!" she called out to Emile while defending her owner. Don't touch him!Niko felt like he could relate with what the boy was currently doing. When he was unemployed, all he did was stare from the outside looking in at them pokeballs. His income mostly went to paying rent and feeding his pokemon and his stomach. He stepped away from the window to put a hand on Sia's head. "Calm down girl. It's okay. He won't hurt me." He looked at the boy who seemed to be blushing at the moment and chuckled lightly. He noticed a tiny Emolga clinging close. They must have a great relationship. Look at that shiny coat. With his fingers, he brushed his hair aside and held out a hand to greet him. "I'm Niko. This girl here is Sia," he told him, and held out a hand near the Torchic's feet. Without hesitation, she almost immediately hopped into his palm and stayed there. Her eyes never left sight of the stranger Emolga. "As for pokeballs..." he thought for a moment as he held the Torchic in his palm. What pokemon am I even looking for? Most just followed after me so relying on regular pokeballs worked just fine... "Hmm.. Let's say a flying type. Maybe a Togekiss? What pokeball would have the best catch rate on them?" musicaloner7 ahh how old is Mako? -curious- he sounds young and adorable.

FrostyPeaches He's 17 going on 18. { fffff, not a sound of music pun, I swear. 8E } but yeah he's mistaken for being a lot younger than he is allllll the time haha. His build and height don't help, either. The coiled Emolga didn't reply to the Torchic besides sticking his nose up in the air, and turning his head away from her in a snooty fashion. He had no time for the likes of them, and certainly wasn't going to bother with some bird beak mouthing off. If Mako weren't here, he'd give her a nice zap!
Looking between the other trainer and the perched Pokemon, from the corner of his eyes, Mako made sure to not make eye contact with Niko and quickly let his gaze focus on the window as though it were a necessity. Emile had turned his front to face the opposite way of Niko and Sia, showing the greatest display of disinterest... and ignoring. Mako's attention, however, was turned back to the stranger as the hand was offered, the flustered moment slowly taking its time to wear off, though his pout did remain in the form of his frown. Glancing to the hand, he was delayed in reacting to it, slowly pulling one of his own small hands out from being tucked against his body, to take Niko's in a surprisingly firm shake. "Mako.." he replied in a mumble, tipping his head slightly to nuzzle the Emolga, "this is Emile.." he continued. The guy seemed... ok so far, he guessed. But still... he shouldn't go up scaring people like that.
With the topic back on the Poke Balls, Mako blinked blankly at first with the prompted question. A... Togekiss? Slowly he looked over at Niko with an incredulous expression, brow crooked, and the other furrowed a bit dramatically,"You... want to catch... a wild Togekiss...?" he repeated slowly, as if to make sure he was hearing right. "You do realize they're extremely rare to come across in the wild... right?" who was this guy? some fresh rookie trainer, or something? With a shake of his head, Mako gave a small 'tch' and let his eyes lazily slide back to the window display. "If you're going hunting for something like that, you'll need a lot more than a good ball to catch it. Need something to paralyze, or sleep it, I'd say." but there was the matter of the ball options still... "Ultra Balls are a natural go to. But depending on the situation, maybe a Nest Ball, if you have a strong enough Pokemon with you." he eyed the Torchic briefly, before continuing on. His finger was pointing along the glass as he brought up each spoken ball, "Maybe a Timer Ball, should the catching process take awhile.." he paused, pursing his lips in thought, narrowing his eyes, before retracting his his hand to cross back over his body, "I prefer ones that fit a Pokemon's theme, or personality, though.."

The Torchic still remembers the time he'd spent staying by her side after saving her from a wild pokemon battle where she got beaten up badly. There is no way she would let some stranger harm him after that. Sia did not care that the Emolga showed his back to her. If Niko was not around, she'd singe his fur with Ember. Nonetheless, she kept her eyes on him watching his every move. As for the trainer with the glasses, she knew that Niko was the perfect candidate to deal with him. She stayed in Niko's palm and crouched down, almost as if she was sitting down on her bum. Niko could not help but laugh again. The tiny pokemon trying to ignore his presence was too cute. However, he did not make any further attempts to get to know him. Some electric shocks can get quite uncomfortable. His attention shifted when he felt a firm hand grasp onto his. "Ahh. Pleased to meet you both. I hope I haven't invaded your space," he replied with a smug smile. "Your little friend already expressed his dislike of me through his body language." Apparently saying that he wanted a Togekiss made him sound crazy to the boy. Niko let go off Mako's hand and threw both hands up in the air, surrendering himself. "You asked what I wanted to catch. Togekiss was the first pokemon that came to mind..." Slowly, he tilted his hands at an angle and swayed them from side to side as if he was waving at a concert. He listened to Mako first and then put in his two cents. "First of all, I thought they would be more common in the wild. Second, wouldn't it be amazing running into one and then catching it? I've always wanted one in my party." He turned his head to look at the display of balls near the window. "Maybe I will go inside and buy a few Duskballs, Friendballs, and Ultraballs. Timerballs are expensive if I have to keep throwing them at the same pokemon until it's caught. I don't catch my pokemon with a themed pokeball in mind either... I can tell you that I've caught a few of them with regular pokeballs though." (*OOC: at this point he only has Delibird, Abra, and Torchic in his party.) He took a step back and placed a firm grip on the store's door hande. It opened with a quick push. "The store's about to close. I came here specifically to buy a few more pokeballs after work. Let's go inside and discuss further. Maybe I will be nice enough to buy you one that you were looking at earlier," he told Mako, and winked at him. musicaloner7 yeah i imagined him as a little kid when i read his description in the rp post XD Niko is not much older. he's 20 and a total noob at being a trainer hahah. thanks i will keep Mako's age in mind <:

FrostyPeaches yeah he's a little guy in stature, but can definitely handle his own. small but mighty! yep, read niko's journal. Mako gave a flat expression, though kept up his frown at the teasing remark made by Niko. "Well... of course you have. You should give someone warning before sneaking up on them like that." he chided, little Emile peeking back just with a slight turn of his head to Niko in order to nod in agreement with his trainer as if to continue proving the point. Small hand stroking the silky pelt, Mako paused a second afterwards, "But... he dislikes everyone, except me. So don't take it personally." he concluded with a quick darting of his eyes off to the side.
But his brow cocked again as the other went on about the Togekiss, shaking his head again with a huff, "Your chances of finding one in the wild are VERY low. You'd have to basically be extremely lucky. Though... if you had something with Sweet Scent, or maybe smeared Honey on a tree that could help." he informed with a very matter of fact tone. Mako figured he'd let the guy figure it out on his own when the other trainer decided to go hunting for one. They didn't just fall from trees, after all. But it was commendable how Niko was trying to prepare for it anyway... tenacious. Had to give him that. Mako even gave a subtle little nod of his head as the various balls were rattled off, adjusting his glasses slightly on his nose. Those should work well enough.
He watched as Niko made his move to enter the shop, figuring that was the last he'd see of the guy... only to be invited in and... Instantly, Mako's face heated up again, and the blush flourished along his face. Mouth opening to retort back, his voice caught for a moment, before his body finally started to move, marching after Niko, "I-I can buy my own!" he snapped in response, glaring at his new companies back, before shooting his gaze off to the side again with another pout forming. Just who did this guy think he was?! Crossing his arms tightly over his chest again, Mako looked around the inside of the fancy store, his outburst having drawn the attention of a few customers already... which only made him all the more flustered.

"Hmm perhaps," he replied, "but I honestly thought you would have seen my reflection on the window by the time I had said something to you. Were you that concentrated on those pokeballs that you had shut everything out?" He walked inside after Mako, his eyes already scanning the store for the balls he wanted. If only I could touch them, he thought to himself. What if there are defective ones in the shipment.. But the pokeballs were just too far away from the counter. Niko turned to face the boy with his Emolga as he finds out that catching a Togekiss is basically based on luck now. He petted his Torchic again and smiled at Mako, still interested on wanting to catch that particular pokemon. "I am quite sure that I still got some luck with me." His eyes met with the salesclerk's as she attempted to approach the two of them from behind the counter. He stopped her from coming closer by pointing a finger at a box of Ultraballs. She turned away to fetch them for him. "I'd also like a box of Duskballs and Friendballs, thank you." He nodded and patted the counter with his palm, telling her where to place them all. "Mako, are you sure that you don't want a pokeball as a gift?" he asked for one last time. "Besides, today is payday for me." He grinned and took out his wallet. Without warning, he flung an arm around the boy, almost of if he was keeping him close, and dragged him a little bit to the side of the store. Niko's back was the only thing left facing the customers. "Now they can't stare at you with condescending eyes," he whispered. Getting rather flustered himself, he wasn't sure if he should let him go quickly or to hold onto him for a little while longer. musicaloner7 I really enjoy their first meeting. perhaps they both will mellow out as they get near the waters. thanks times a million waiting on my reply. i should send you a pinklink for the wait or something. He grumbled irritably about Niko's expectations, having none of it. "Yes I was concentrated." he snapped under his breath. He also wasn't sure how he felt about the confidence that was radiating from this other trainer. Such assurance that he'd catch a Togekiss with ease? An abundance of confidence was a one way ticket to getting into trouble.
Keeping his arms crossed, to try and hide even more from the stares that would flicker at him, Mako let his eyes roam the store too, glancing only slightly to see what had piqued Niko's interest. Ultra Balls. Good choice. The additional specialty balls were a good addition too.
Perking up when his name was spoken, he shot his attention over to Niko, only to fluster more with the offer extended again. Bristling, he turned his head away, cheeks prickling with heat like before from embarrassment. "I'm fine." he retorted sharply, a little yelp of surprise escaping him from the sudden contact.
Emile was not pleased at all, once that arm came around. Jumping a little from his perch on Mako's shoulders, he chattered angrily at Niko, cheeks starting to spark as he gave the offending trainer a loud warning. But as Mako was pulled along, the petite trainers tiny feet hardly having any effect in keeping himself in place with their protesting, his face only heating up more from such a bold move, Emile took action.
With a strong cry, the Emolga burst forth a strong surge of electricity from its cheeks, which zig zagged right to Niko... which consequently also shocked Mako as well since the two were joined as they were.
FrostyPeaches I have too. Mako isn't really the mellow type. Just who he is. An rp by water is fine. No worries, I'm patient by nature.

He prodded the trainer with more questions. "Come on now, Mako, don't you ever imagine how great you are when it comes to catching a Pokemon you could only dream of catching? I have." Niko saw him flinch and was about to let go of him as soon as the lady clerk came back so he could pay for his stuff. But before he was able to do any of that, he heard sparks. Loud crackles from nearby. He looked down in time to see Mako's Emolga diving straight at his arm with electric attacks to protect his own trainer. Of course, taken off guard and rather surprised, Niko was too slow to pull himself away from Mako and they both got shocked. "Ouch!" he screamed out as he felt pricks of pain throb in different places of his left arm. Using his other hand he rubbed his arm to try and ease the pain. "I'm sorry," he said, staring at the angry Emolga in confusion. "I won't touch him again, I promise." Backing away slowly, he showed the little pokemon that his trainer is safe and on his own. "Are you okay Mako?" he asked the kid, but stopped himself from touching him again in case they both received more shocks. The people in the store started to stare at the pair again. They may have missed the shocking event but that didn't stop them from staring now that Niko had yelled out loud in pain. Sia, who saw the incident too late, was furious. She had fire in her eyes as she glared at the attacker. She puffed up and was about to spit a fireball at the Emolga when Niko stopped her by placing a palm on her beak. "Calm down, Sia. I don't want to get kicked out of the shop."
musicaloner7 It is fine. Now Niko has an idea how his personality is like. along with the Emolga's XD

FrostyPeaches Once he meets Fountanne, hopefully that'll help things out a little. Or Flua. Both are very gentle in nature. Don't have him with his Sharpedo yet, at this point. That's still being rp'd out currently. Gritting his teeth, Mako was stiff as the electricity coursed through him. Shuddering a few times, his hair was now frizzed a little, strands standing all which way, his glasses also a bit rattled from being perched on his nose. Man that was a strong jolt....
Emile didn't seem to realize the damage he'd done to his own trainer, poised still to face aggressively towards poor Niko, glaring at the Torchic too that was trying to retaliate. Cheeks sparking again, in preparation, they stopped suddenly as one of Mako's hands raised to place onto the Emolga's head, ceasing the new set of bolts that were snapping from those cheeks, "That's... enough, Emile..." Mako grumbled through his clenched teeth. Clothes frayed in a few areas, he peered up from behind his tousled hair, and noticed that... indeed now everyone was staring at them. His entire face was alight with red, the embarrassment unable to get any worse than it was now. Glancing to Niko, to see if the other young man was ok, he adjusted his glasses in a more timid, and reserved manner, "Sorry... about that.." he mumbled to the other trainer. His eyes looked along Niko to check for any sort of burns from the shock, or any damage elsewhere. He didn't respond to the question, brushing it off. Who cared if he was alright, the attack had been issued towards Niko, who probably got he worst of it, "Did... he hurt you anywhere..?" his voice was a bit strained from the remnants of shocks still escaping him, and how tense his muscles got from the surprise.
Emile wasn't too phased though, smoothing himself under Mako's hand to slink closer to his neck, and curl around it protectively, shooting more nasty looks all around; particularly to the Torchic, who he refused to respond back to vocally.
But Mako could hear the whispers people were giving to one another, and the eyes still bore into him, making him keep his eyes square down at the ground firmly, hands starting to tighten into small fists. He'd caused a scene to go down, and was probably going to give Niko trouble for sticking around here with Emile the way he was. Feeling the salesclerk also staring warily at his back, the petite traveler. It was... overwhelming, and slightly suffocating. Unable to take it, he suddenly bursted into a sprint, and raced out the door to wait outside, walking a few paces down from the store to plop down on the sidewalk, and sit against another buildings wall. Chastising himself, he fussed with his hair, to try and get it to lay right again, Emile sniffing and blinking at him curiously... as if oblivious to what was wrong.

He felt uncomfortable and his skin felt itchy after the painful shock that he had received. Looking at Mako, he felt a little bit sorry towards the guy. The other trainer took in more of the damage dealt before it reached him. Rubbing his arm again, he felt the back of his neck start to itch. The tips of his hairs slowly clung onto his face from the static. He used his right hand to push his hair away from his face, which in turn created more static. The Torchic snuggled her face against to side his neck trying to comfort him. "Torrrr." She did not bother to give death glares back at the Emolga and paid close attention to her precious trainer. "No... No it was my fault. I shouldn't have touched you, I'm sorry..." his voice trailed off. Now that he came to think of it, the pain in his left arm felt like he got burnt by fire. He would have to check it out later. Maybe stop by the Pokecenter and smear on some ointments where he got shocked. There was a weird smell that lingered around him but he wasn't sure what it was. "I'm..fine," he told Mako. "It could have been worse." Of course, he didn't want the other trainer to worry about him so he shrugged it off. Quickly, he waved an arm in the air for the salesclerk to tend to him. The faster he pays for his things, the faster he can leave the shop. The stares from others was getting a tad bit too obvious to him. Tapping his wallet on the counter, he was getting impatient. When she came over he helped her put his things inside a bag as she rang them through. "9600 please," she told him. Fishing the bills out of his wallet, he paid for his things and bolted out the door. The door closed shut and Niko scanned the area to see where Mako had ran off to. Well so much for going on a trip to go try and catch a Togekiss. With a deep breath he called out the other trainer's name really loud. "MAKO! WHERE ARE YOU?" musicaloner7 -nod- no rush with the trainers meeting all the pokemon. but yes, i understand (:
