Pretty much done with pub gathering hall rounds. EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE that I have encountered is pretty hostile or out for themselves in terms of getting their guild hall quests done before others.

So now we're in the age of competition rather than inclusion. Which, now that I think of it, has been like this for awhile, but it only seems different since with MH, everyone in the past, on the PS2, and PSP would go through the ropes together, the competition, as it was, was to see who could effectively and efficiently get things done.

Which is why I'm posting this.

Over the course of the game I want to categorize players in this guild as "Elite" hunters. Not "Veteran," as that title literally carries over playing previous instalments of the game. That doesn't mean playing 3U and carrying over to 4U, it would mean playing PS2 or PSP titles and knowing what has changed compared to the previous instalments.

To be considered, "Elite," in my opinion, you have to be a tactician. Someone who doesn't play to kill, but to acquire pieces skilfully and successfully. That means, breaking every piece off a monster, and capturing rather than killing.

Every wound/broken piece increases the odds of getting rare drops on the loot table. Capturing also gives the boon of additional loot at the end vs what you get through carving. Which can be further enhanced if you have the trap master skill.

SO, while everyone rushes to get end game HR rank, and should be easily gained in a week or so, once this has all settled, DLC content will drop, people will be refining and grinding for mats, and I'm looking for those players who could call themselves "Elite Hunters" to reply and ante up.

You're not in it for yourself, you're in it for the group dynamic. Do not post a reply if you're a lone wolf or mean to use for personal gain.

Also as an "Elite," you have to be willing to help those gain higher HR if you're at a point where you're leagues ahead. As having players who learn and can be refined in a group dynamic is stronger than pub players who run around chaotically.

lots of words!

This guy^

I utterly agree. But anyways, if you're asking for anything feel free to say something. I prefer to go through at my own pace, instead of racing. Hopefully I don't get mauled by things. I went cowboy quite a few times online with another person's livestream because I was having fun. XD

I am currently... HR4...?

but that's from doing nonstop hunting with a group on twitch, and after that I just took my time solo or helping out other people. I'll have to admit, I'm either rusty, got complacent, or there's a throwback in difficulty. Monsters hurt.

Personally I did have a thing for always wanting to break every part, and then capture. ( did this for nearly everything in 3U, and Freedom Unite, even showed a couple friends that lucent can be capp'd. )

I may also be repeating and just spewing my mouth. Things!

Or if im making no sense, just ask me to delete this post...

I was never in MH for myself, I'm currently playing with one of my personal friends to get hunter ranks, but we are pretty much working on helping each other armor up.

Sadly no one has taken me up on the offer of getting help. lol

So I've only played with my friend.

Like I said, I'd consider Elite as those who are aware of their tactical abilities as well as knowing their weapons enough to know what to use and what not to use.

The biggest weapon issue I see is weapon hit boxes. Sure, its fun using the weapon YOU like, but keep that in SOLO play. IG and CA have HUUUGE hit boxes, and knock down fellow hunters like crazy.

I'm not too concerned with the guild hall until I'm done the village quests, but once I get to that point, I'm hoping the pool of players we have in this guild will have gotten to that point or further themselves in the guild hall, and know what and what not to use or do when hunting.

Because the whole dynamic changes when going from pub to private hunts. Especially playing with those you play with frequently, you learn what THEY use and how THEY play, and then retrofit the group dynamic to effectively and efficiently break and cap the monsters for mats.

For example, I play LS, GS and Hammer in Village quests, online I play GS, Hammer and DS as the hit boxes can be more easily controlled than that with a LS, Hammer has a huge base raw output, GS can overcharge and deal immense damage and can reach places my Hammer cant, and DS is used to output elemental damage, mostly "Dragon." But that'll switch once I get in high rank guild hall, as Lance outputs even more, even with elemental.

Yeah.... I've seen the IG and CA thing firsthand, like when we trip or finish mounting monsters. I end up losing any hits.

Though at the same time, I've gotten a little too charge happy with lance since the whole jump attack ( that and the finisher on the charge is the hardest hitting attack on a lance )

As far as what I remember, Lance is supposed to be that consistent, frequent damage by staying in the monster's face, so to speak, and sidestep/guard/counter until the end of time, it it dies, or you cart.... things. ( totally wrong since normally you'd have common sense to gtfo if things get too bad, like hp or something you can't really avoid/block. )

I just feel lance is my personal niche, and I need to work on getting other weps, since people probably don't like lances. If I remember, switch axes, lances and longswords do not get along too well at times... though imo I don't care, so long as we get things done and enjoy ourselves. I've actually been saved by upswings on occasion, as I would charge that same friend out of the way because we both end up away from an aoe or something.

Still probably blowing hot air right now.

While I am a 'vet' I don't feel I'm elite just yet.

I just like to kick back and hunt. I enjoy taking my time and going back to fight monsters over and over again because I want to improve the quality of the equipment. I also enjoy noticing some subtle differences when you break something for the first time. I do use guides online, but mostly just to see the monsters weakness or what damage it deals to prepare for the fight. I'm only hunter rank 1 because I enjoy striking out on my own right now and only do online with my friend at school because he needs the help majorly, like he started at 3U and has all these questions needing to be answered so I help him as much as I can. I don't consider myself Elite or a Veteran, I just consider myself helpful...

i'm with ya man we gotta work together not work toward the same goal separately. I get enjoyment from using stun weapon builds to make things easier for the team but I often find people dont use the advantage I give them very well when I do so I dont use it with randoms. If i'm with the right group I will go all out and bring traps and flashbombs just to be a good support.

Using your definition, I MIGHT be. I dunno. I never felt like I'm an elite hinter or something like that.

I love to hunt; and I'm willing to stay in a guild hall for hours on end even if I got the mats that I need because I love to hunt. Might be why my G was already at 90 when eveyon'e else was at 30-40 when their G cherry popped.
I hunt for the long haul. I'm alright with capture or slaying, as long as things are done. Not all the parts can be broken, but I accept that.

Had so many failed quests already. Failure happens. Fainting happens. Just be thankful you got through the quest if there were already a faint or two. Laugh it off when you all fail. It happens, and, honestly, I find it quite funny when an attack knocks out 3 at once.

But really, I don't think of myself as elite because I drift here and there. I make friends along the way and help them out if I can, and if they are polite and ask nicely, anyone who asks for help (Actually did let people on a G Khezu huntathon. We went through 15 kezhu that day. Fun times)

You tell me if I am or not. I'll just kickback and enjoy a well done steak, until it's time to hunt again.
