Azalea Town is a small, isolated town located on the southern peninsula of the Johto region. The town is best known for being the residence of Kurt, a custom Poké Ball creator who makes Poké Balls out of Apricorns. He lives in the northwest portion of town on the east edge of Ilex Forest. Azalea features other notable locations as well, such as the Slowpoke Well, and as such, Slowpoke can be found around the town. The town has two entrances, Route 33 to the east and Ilex Forest to the west. Pokémon Trainers must journey to Azalea Town in order to win the Hive Badge from Bugsy, the Azalea Gym Leader who specializes in Bug-type Pokémon.

Early morning. While most would've dreaded its bright sunlight and its meaning-- dragging yourself out of the bed and any remains of dreams to start the day-- Huey looked forward to it-- or rather anxious for the night to end. The young boy shifted in his bed, a dull gaze fixated on a spot on the ceiling above. With his hands folded across his chest, he chose simple to lay where he was in lieu of sitting up. In fact, he was content with his position: on his back with the covers pulled up to his chin, that was until the air around him dropped drastically in its temperature and caused the boy to shiver before he reached out to tug the covers further up his body. 'Huey.' he flinched at a telepathic voice entered his mind, its tone laced with worry. Yuki, not one to be ignored, floated into his line of sight; her facial expression matching her tone of voice. "G-good morning, Yuki." he greeted the Froslass, his words muffled by his blanket. It was obvious, however, that she wasn't in the mood for morning pleasantries, and didn't hesitate to ask her question. 'You didn't sleep, did you?' Huey was quick to avert his gaze and contemplated hiding himself underneath the bed. At least, he would, if he didn't know how tenacious his pokemon was. "I did sleep..." he murmured, his answer accompanied with the slow rise of his body. "For a little bit. More than last night." he'd been having nightmares, as of late, and found trouble in falling asleep. "It's getting better!" he forced confidence in his tone, hoping a higher pitch in tone would help convince Yuki. It didn't, unfortunately. But, before she could voice her concern the young blonde had darted out of his bed, suddenly quite eager to begin getting dressed. "C'mon then!" he shouted out as he pulled his shirt over his head. "We need to check on Leon." with the fabric of clothing blocking his vision, he missed the frown that flickered across the ice-type's face, though her distaste had shifted subjects. She didn't like the raven haired male. For whatever reason. 'Alright~' the frown was gone by the time Huey had popped his head back out, and it'd been replaced with a neutral expression. 'But, you have to eat before then.'"Got it!" he was more than relieved to have a chance of topic, and gave a nod of the head before he darted out of the room.
With it being so early, Huey didn't have to worry about the lines of the Pokémon Center's cafeteria-- but he was in for a surprise none the less. The room had taken on a theme of pink and red. He didn't think much of it, at least not until he actually got in line. Even the food had a theme, and it took a few moments of staring until he finally realized that it was a Valentines garnish. 'Huey, what's this for?' Yuki, who had taken an interest in the pink food as well, held up a heart shaped cookie. "It's Valentines Day." he explained, but when the answer was received with a blank gaze he went on to reiterate further. "It's a special day for couples-- you know, people dating." as he spoke, Huey made his way steadily throughout the line; more than pleased that Valentines Day meant the cafeteria was serving more desserts and confections for breakfast. Plate complied with sweets, and a few healthier options, he was quick to finish off his breakfast-- sharing a bit of his food with Yuki. "Alright." he hopped back up, making one last trip through the line, found himself energized by the pounds of sugar now coursing through his body. "Let's go."
His journey to the 'hospital'-- Pokémon Centers healed more than just pokemon, who knew!?-- consisted of a few hallway crosses, quick darts around the few people who actually were awake, and a bit of backtracking, but finally Huey arrived at Leon's room. He knocked twice, out of common courtesy, before speaking up. "Leon, are you up?" he waited a few seconds before he entered, and was pleased to find that the older male was. "Good morning! How are you feeling?" Yuki trailed after her trainer, glancing up once at the other. He'd been checking on him for the past few days-- in fact every day since they'd arrived back from the Ball. It'd been scary! Seeing Leon pass out from blood loss, the boy had run as fast as he could once they'd landed to find the assistance he needed. It was the least he could do... after Leon had done so much for him. Huey approached the male and extended his arm to offer him one of the heart shaped cookies, wrapped in a napkin, he'd gotten from the cafeteria. "It's Valentines Day-- though I didn't know it at first. So.. Happy Valentines Day!"

As Leon hugged his partner tightly to him, the trainer started to feel drained. His vision blurred as weakness overtook him. Everything soon went black for the trainer as he lost consciousness, hearing the concerned voices of his pokemon. Kai panicked a bit, nudging his trainer as he had gone limp. Tesla was about to try and shock her trainer awake, but was interrupted by Kai. "Are you crazy? He doesn't need to be shocked! He's already hurt enough!" Kai had claimed. Tesla blinked, ears folding back. "Aw... i guess so..." She sighed, and since she couldn't do anything more, she returned herself to her pokeball. Nova was flitting back and forth worriedly, fretting about her trainer as he passed out. Then, something unexpected happened. Her body started to glow, her form changing. Soon, Nova found herself now evolved, and landed beside her trainer, wings protecting him from the wind and rain flying through the area. Then things got weird. Before they knew it, they found themselves back in Azalea, Nova standing awkwardly over her trainer. She wasn't used to this big body. Kai tried to nudge his trainer awake again, then noticed that the boy from the ball was there with them, and he had run off to get help. Soon after, Leon's pokemon returned to their balls as he was brought to the hospital wing of the Pokemon Center. Leon had lost a lot of blood, and while he was being replenished, his arm was properly cleaned, stitched and wrapped. Not only that, but when he woke up finally, he was in unfamiliar hospital clothing, each scratch on him having been cared for. He still felt weak, but also couldn't help but wonder if everyone else at the ball had made it out alright. He was relieved though, to see the boy from the ball there with him.

"Good morning, Kai." Leon said as he woke up for the day, shifting in the hospital bed. He didn't need to be pumped full of blood anymore, and was relieved to no longer have that IV in his arm. The Croconaw was laying beside him, and gave a great big yawn, showing off all his teeth. Leon pat his partner's head with his left hand. The nurses had told him that his pokemon were completely healed after having been brought in. Even after insisting Kai needed to be looked at more closely, they found nothing wrong with the Croconaw whatsoever. The raven haired male was very happy to have gotten that news, and since then, he hasn't returned the gator pokemon.
About his right arm, though. The doctors told him he was lucky that his muscles weren't severed, otherwise healing would have been a lot more difficult. However, there was still damage, and he was advised to not move his right arm much, especially if he could help it. Since then, it's been in a sling. Leon couldn't help but feel incredibly lucky that he was left-handed, otherwise he might have felt more pathetic.
There was a knock on the door, and Leon looked over towards the door, now sitting upright in bed. "Yeah, come on in." Leon responded to the voice that followed the knock. Soon, Huey walked in, his Froslass following closely. "Hey, Huey!" the dark haired male greeted, smiling. It was really nice of the boy to check on him every day since they got back. In the back of his mind, he hoped it didn't make him seem strange to have a younger boy visiting him so often. "I'm feeling still a bit sore, but man... sitting here doing nothing is starting to make me antsy. I'm feeling pretty good, besides that, though." Leon responded to the boy. Kai crawled over Leon's lap, looking at the blond boy. Well, rather, what he had wrapped in the napkin. "Naaaw~" he grunted in an almost begging manner, crimson eyes glistening.
"Holy shi- It's Valentines day already?" Leon exclaimed, then lifted his left hand to run his fingers through his hair. Damn, that stupid ball... it still was perplexing how the time flow had differed at the ball than where he was now; in the normal world. It was like they must have spent the time at that ball in a different realm or something. The raven haired male shook it off, then reached over to take a cookie from the boy. "Thank you, Huey. Happy Valentines day to you, too!" he replied, smiling as he bit into the cookie. It was pretty darn good! Well, maybe it was just because it was being compared to the food he had been eating lately. Hospital food never really tasted all that amazing.

"Mm." Huey nodded in understanding at the other's reveal of being antsy. Even if he could manage to stay still for a good while, he couldn't imagine how he'd feel if he was forced to confine himself to an area over the span of a few days. "Did the doctors tell you when it'd be okay for you to begin moving around again?" he inquired, keenly aware of Kai's sudden interest in his food. With a laugh, he handed the Croconaw two cookies. "Here you go." the rest, he placed onto the nightstand-- still in reach of Leon, but not his pokemon-- at least not in his current position-- he didn't know if the older male wanted anymore, or if he had a set amount of sweets his pokemon could consume. So, it was better safe than sorry.
Unfazed by the other's, incomplete, curse-- he'd gained a few things other than bad dreams from the ball-- Huey simple laughed, glad that he wasn't the only one ignorant of the date. It still confused, as well as angered, him, the way that horror filled night had managed to steal so much time from them. He'd missed out on Christmas! At first, he hadn't believed Nurse Joy-- he still didn't totally trust her or her identical relatives-- when she'd told him the date that first night. But, the temperature and change in weather had confirmed it, as well as the dozen of other people he asked afterwards. They really were several months ahead. "When do you think you'll be able to leave the hospital?" eventually his attention flickered back to his companion. "It won't be too long until you can, right?" after all, it was just his arm that had been injured and not his leg.

"Mm... They said it would be a few weeks before I could start moving my arm around more. I suppose I'll just kind of... take it easy with that arm." Leon said, biting into his cookie. It was great. Kai thought it was great, too, especially when he was given two cookies of his own. The gator shoved to cookies into his mouth, crunching down on them eagerly, tail flopping behind him. "Croco~" he thanked the boy with a wide grin. Leon smiled, finishing his own cookie and dropping his left hand to pet Kai's head again. "Such a glutton." he commented with a smile.
"F*cking ball... " Leon cursed in a low voice. He couldn't believe that he had lost months in what seemed like just one really long and exhausting night. He had missed out on all that time he could have spent training and getting badges. Just for a ball that turned into horror. The raven haired male left his thoughts as Huey spoke up again. "Heh, well. I'm sure I can leave now, if i want. They don't need to give me anymore blood or anything." Leon responded, moving to hang his feet off of the edge of the bed. It was quite likely that he should be able to leave. After all, it was just an arm injury now.

"You should probably do that." Huey replied, agreeing with his plan on being cautious with that particular arm. "You don't want to end up back in this sort of place again." hospitals weren't that fun anyway, the TV shows weren't that good and they got awfully boring. From the corner of his eye he watched as Yuki moved closer to him to extend one chilly hand onto the top of his head. As usual, he shivered but didn't bother with dislodging her hand. He'd been this close to losing her. Any and all shows of affection were welcome.
Ah, he really did have a lot of ground to cover. He was behind in his badges, not to mention training in general. There was something else he'd have to do as well... the boy couldn't exactly remember what it was. But, it was a reminder that continued to nag at him. And yet whatever it was, it still managed to evade him. At this point, it was just frustrating. Just what the heck was he forgetting? Huey, who had begun to frown at the memory that he had no memory to this, suddenly brightened. "That's great!" he shuffled away from the bed as Leon pulled his legs over the bed. "Do you want to go explore the town with me?" he asked, excitedly. "It'd only be for a little bit, I promise not to take up too much of your time."

Leon merely nodded, agreeing with the boy's reply. "Definitely not a fun place to be." he stated with a sigh. The time he had spent here already was maddening for him. The tv always seemed to be playing the same reruns, amongst many other things. They wouldn't let him play with all his pokemon here; they hardly wanted Kai to be out with him, but they just couldn't force him to return the gator to his ball, so they let him be. Kai grunted a friendly greeting to the froslass.
With a slight stretch, Leon stood up from the bed, dressed in the loose clothes that the hospital had provided him with. "Sounds good, Huey. I'm going to get changed first, though." He responded with another cookie being bitten into shortly after. After a moment of looking around, Leon located his bag, which was still in good shape. It felt odd for a moment to not be moving his right arm, just letting it hang in the sling. He lifted his bag with his left hand before disappearing into the room's bathroom, closing the door behind him. Luckily, since his injuries weren't too serious, and he was no longer connected to an IV, he didn't require assistance to leave the bed and whatnot. Though he did admittedly struggle to get on his spare set of clothes, he managed quite well on his own. His right arm throbbed when he moved it to get his white button up shirt on. He was so glad it wasn't a pull over type of shirt. He didn't think he could move his arm THAT much yet.
After a while, Leon re-emerged from the bathroom, sporting a dark blue pair of jeans and a white button up t-shirt that he left un-tucked from his pants. "Alright. Let's go sign me out of this place." Leon grinned. Kai hopped off of the bed, moving to stand beside his trainer happily, but only after having finished off those delicious cookies. Leon slid his right arm back into the sling now that he had his shoes on and was ready to leave.

"'Kay." pleased that the other had agreed, Huey watched with mild interest as Leon moved about the room, collecting his bag before he headed into the bathroom. Now left alone with the pokemon and his thoughts, the young boy pulled his cell phone from his bag. When he'd first turned it on, it had almost overloaded with the hundreds-- actual hundreds-- of text messages from his family. His voicemail box had full, and the amount of missed calls he had were ridiculous. His absence had not gone unnoticed. Which, was understandable. A young kid, on his own, who fell off the face of the earth for a few months... it was terrifying. He really did feel bad for making them all worry like they had.
Especially Angelia, his oldest sister. Huey shuddered at the memory of the many messages she'd left him. They'd started out casual: the regular, 'how are you, where have you been?', but they'd quickly become angry, and then anger and worry. He loved his sister... but she scared him sometimes. In the end, he'd ended up calling Andrew, and after reassuring him that he wasn't dead, nor had been kidnapped, promised him that he'd come back home to explain just what had happened to him. Explain... "oh."that's what he'd forgotten about. He needed to think of a good way to tell his family just what happened to him. He couldn't tell them the entire truth, they wouldn't let him leave the house for the next year, so maybe... the partial truth? Whatever he decided to tell them, it needed to be good... and it needed to be thought of fast. The boy planned on leaving Azalea Town today.
It was Yuki who alerted the blonde to Leon's return with a soft nudge. Huey quickly returned his phone, turning to smile at the older male. "Okay!" he waited until he'd put on his shoes before he darted out of the room, rocking on his heels before he began to walk purposefully forward. "Hey, Leon." he slowed his pace to begin walking beside him. Leon left the hospital, signing himself out along the way. "I've got two badges. " he answered the boy, looking down to him as he listened on. That was quite the claim. Nocturne gave Isis a weary glance back to her trainer and emitted a low screech that seemed concerned, but Isis simply wiped her eyes and steadied her grip on the Noivern's mane. "I'm fine, let's go.... Azalea is just ahead...." Isis insisted lamely, but Nocturne turned her gaze back to the rolling forests ahead of her. He grimaced at the thought of facing that particular gym leader, but the momentary flash of fear was quick to turn into a flare of anger. "Yeah." he muttered quietly, one hand curling into a small fist. "I'll kick her a** too." if anything, that anger would help fuel his determination to win. If not because of what happened, then because he was a trainer-- and trainers didn't like to lose. 'Huey,' he instinctively turned to look up at his pokemon; noticing her look of concern. 'You shouldn't rush into these things. You need to train first.' the young boy frowned, but nodded his head at her advice. "I know... I'll make sure to do that." unfortunately, he didn't have any pokemon to successfully combat the electric-type leader, but he could teach his team a few ground-type moves. That or catch a ground-type.
From up above a screech reverberated through the air, causing Huey to flinch lightly before his gaze flickered to the Noivern currently landing. He didn't think much of it, beside the fact that it was a pokemon that one didn't usually see in the Johto region. Eventually the dragon was returned to its pokeball, almost as soon as it'd touched down, and its trainer, a blonde girl, began to take strides towards the forest. "Mmm." there wasn't anything unusual about the girl's destination: Ilex Forest always attracted a few people here and there, mostly due to its affiliation with a certain time traveling legendary. Leon smirked as the kid swore. It was rather cute to hear the kid curse, though a part of him felt bad because he might have been the one to introduce such words to him. He reached over with his left hand, ruffling Huey's hair before pulling his hand away. "Yeah! That's the spirit! Just keep up on the training, and you'll have all your badges in no time." he commented with a grin. It seemed like the boy's froslass was conversing with the boy for a moment after. "Heh, maybe sometime I'll come find you in Unova and help you train or something, if you want. I could always use the adventure." Leon offered.
Just after his offer, there was a screech from above that distracted him. It was a female on a Noivern, and they just landed in the middle of town. The dragon was returned and the blond girl started to make her way to Ilex forest. "Huh... that was abrupt... wait..." Leon commented, then squinted a bit at the girl. There was something familiar about that upset expression. "Come on, Huey." he said, then picked up his pace to catch up to the girl. He stepped in front of her, getting a good look at her face head-on. His eyes widened in recognition of the girl. "Isis?!? What are you doing here? Is everything alright?" he questioned. Kai finally caught up with him, grunting a greeting of his own before flopping on the ground beside Leon. It was tough for the gator to move fast so suddenly.

Huey ducked his head down as his hair was ruffled, simply choosing to direct his grin towards the ground. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Leon." he replied, peering up at him through the few strands of hair that now lay haphazardly over his eyes. He lifted both hands up to begin dragging his fingers through his hair, perking up at Leon's offer. "That'd be great! Thanks." he liked Leon, and quite honestly looked up to him. So, yes: training with him would be nice; a future event he'd look forward to.
