The Guardian's record show that:
He was never born with the talent of a military genius. He wasn't born into a family of high ranking guardians or officials. Hell, he's only a Groundling. He was born in a simple family, his father being an appointed arms dealer and his mother was just a stay-at-home mom. For five years, he lived happily in this small family, until one night his father came home from work late one night. Even for all the chaos going on outside the walls, you still have your psychos and crazies on the inside. A man confronted Moa's father, obviously intoxicated with hyperactive drugs. He assaulted him, trying to mug him for cash. The struggle continued until the drug induced citizen bashed the man's head in with a nearby leaden pipe and stole all the belongings he had on his persons. Moa and his mother didn't find out until the man, who turned out to be an alien criminal, was caught and sent to prison just 3 days later. The haunting thought of his father dead in the streets would haunt him.
A week later, he was transferred to a orphanage because of his mother's suicide. She couldn't handle being without her husband and inevitably joined him in the afterlife. Luckily, Moa was not there to see or even find out that she had killed herself. Moa stayed in the orphange until he was 10 years old, when a high ranking officer walked in one day and saw him. His rough exterior contrasted to the bright and warm smile he gave Moa when they first met. He was a successful veteran Guardian until he retired and was asked to become a supervisor over the Den's weaponry. He took Moa in, not caring that he was a Groundling.
When they arrived at his lovely abode, they were greeted by The man's wife and his lovely 3 daughters, which is probably why he was at the orphanage looking for a boy. The mother didn't know what to make of Moa, but she didn't accept him due to the fact that he was a Groundling and not a Forerunner like his three older sisters. But of course, his father cherished him.
Growing up in that house, he was subjected to teasing and bullying by his sisters, abuse from his mother, and a contrast of love and care from his father, at least until he passed away from a deathly illness when Moa was 13. Moa fell into deep depression and sadness, slowly molding his personality to a cold, non-caring persona. His foster mother openly blames him for her husbands death and continues to abuse him, while his sisters tease him and bully him. After about a month, the three sisters were admitted into the Guardian training program, one becoming a JumpingBird, one becoming a Sentinal, and one being admitted as a Warrior. Moa thought that he could never be admitted as a Guardian until one day he was cornered by a bunch of thugs.
In a rage, He took them down, but not without leaving the fight all scarred up and bloody. This had caught the eye of a few guardians and he was admitted into training. Of course, he was as talented or developed faster than his sisters but he pushed his body to progress the best it could. By the time he finished training, he was better than his sisters and was appointed as a Reaper at age 20. Now as a newly appointed Reaper Guardian, he plans to suit up, get armed, and kick *ss.
