This is Halloween Art Contest and Hiring! gaia_crown [ Welcome to TiH art contest and hiring! ] Please view the rules below on both parts. You can win some fabulous prizes from the art contest, and if you'd like, also apply with your art contest entry to be hired at our wonderful shop!
Our shop has seen some wonderful staff and artists, and have been a helping hand in improving the art of artists through a great artist community and group inspiration. Does a TiH artist change over time with a lot of love and practice? You can bet they do!

Please submit the form only ONCE though you may edit it as many times as you'd like with submissions before the contest date end
Don't forget to mention if you are interested in only the art contest portion or if you would like to be hired to our shop!

There a no categories in this art contest and you will not be drawing anyone's character. Instead, this is a design a Halloween Student contest! Please see below on submission guidelines of how to design (and draw) a student!

All art submitted may be used later by the This Is Halloween shop here, which is a Breedables & Changeable Pet shop!
It may be given out in any way, at our discretion, or not at all. Thank you for understanding!
Once given to another gaia user, the art will be their official character's art, theirs to use and love very much!

ALL ART CONTEST ENTRIES WILL FEATURE DESIGNING A STUDENT
- Please use a digital program to art your student! You can paint or celshade there is no preference. Please make sure it is fully coloured however. Please see samples below of finished student works. You are pretty much creating a student like any artist would!
- You may see that a majority of our art is lined and then painted/cellshaded, this is a preferred style in our shop, but not necessary! If you can pull this style off, then power to you! Please see below for samples of some of our existing work, our shop is very versatile and accommodating to styles however! Here's a sample of some generic processwork for completing a student here!
- You can design a student of any gender! They are basically a student that goes to Amityville, and should be incorporated with these minor elements.
- All students must wear a skull shaped pin, just a tiny pin shaped like a skull usually on their neck/waist/etc (you can place this anywhere visible on the character). You can see samples in these artworks here, here, and here!
gaia_crown [ HOW TO STUDENT ]
- While these are monster students, in TiH cannon, they wear skull pins (see above) that keep them in their humanoid form. Some students may have a natural form (ie: a kitsune will have an actual kitsune as their natural form) but while in school and wearing a skull pin, they adhere to their human student form, in order to fit in those desk and chairs and the likes and you know be able to actually write exams
- To adhere to canon, this is a starting student. They should appear 12 - 15 years in age.
- There are five factions you should consider. They are very broad categories but in case you need more help with what is what check out our front page and scroll down to Amityville, where you'll see all the five different factions! Monsters are anything ranging from werewolves to swamp creatures, Reapers can be actual reapers to witches, mages, and warlocks, Ghosts are well, ghosts, Demons encompass anything from lesser hellhound demons to demons of the seven sins, and Undead really like brains not living (as opposed to ghosts, undead are much more corporeal).
- Because you will be designing a student in their humanoid form, you are allowed to give all sorts of monster edits, from tentacle wings to one cyclops eyeball, to lots of eyes, to all sorts of wings and tails and horns and ears. If you want to look at this famous furry meme, you're looking at exactly 10% and nothing more.
- This means yes to tears, tail, wings, horns, claws, fluffy parts, an extra eye, one less eye, again anything that is around 10% pure monster
- Here are some examples of existing students in our shop so you can see what is too much (please look at the ones that are NOT marked Hunter or Horseman)
- They must be based off an actual existing monster that has lore (ie: if you can find it on wikipedia and it does NOT ONLY have a pop culture reference). For example, you can make a Roc, but you can't make a chocobo, because chocobos are not really lore monsters! For a good reference of what monster has lore back up, just try to wiki it and see if it pops up from some legend or another.
- Need a list of monsters? Try this list!
- Don't forget the skull pin! Have fun!
- All student submissions have a chance to be converted into an actual student which we will give away in a future event! This would make you an honourary guest artist
gaia_crown [ PLEASE DO NOT: ]
- This design is for STUDENT ONLY! Please do not design Hunters or Horsemen!
- Please do NOT draw a student in their natural form ie: if there are a werewolf don't actually draw them as a wolf. Once again if you want to look at this famous furry meme, you're looking at exactly 10% and nothing more (so please no anthro as well!)
- Please do NOT include more than one head for the student form art.
- Please do NOT include more than two arms and two legs. We really don't care about wings or butwings are the like but they should have exactly two arms and legs (unless for some reason tragedy struck and they're missing a limb...)
- Please do NOT give them a mermaid tail/ etc etc/ centaur body/ drider body instead of the usual two legs. Same goes with arms, but that would be kind of scary if you had mermaid tails instead of your arms.... The exception is that you may have wings instead of arms, as long as the wings have hand-talons on them, etc etc, as long as they can function as arms as well (same for legs as you are allowed to make saytr feet instead, etc etc).
- For the sake of sanity please do not include weapons and/or familiars. It is a little too hard to explain reapers canonly in a few lines, so just to save everyone grief do not do these things @ weapons/familiars! Also please no minipets in the official art!
- All students should remain student sized, so from 4 - 7 feet TOPS.
- Also no aliens (because liz says no)

I WOULD LIKE TO WORK AT TIH AS AN ARTIST! You have come to the right place! Our hiring process is pretty simple this time, all you have to do is submit an entry in the art contest to be considered as part of the hiring!
Basically this means the art contest submission and the hiring submission are on the same form. When submitting your art contest submission you have the option to select if you want to be considered for full time, part time, or guest artist!
gaia_crown [ TiH 401K ]: As as artist at TiH you will have access to quite a few bonuses:
- 100% of IRL, 90% of auction/raffle/bribes go to you (the remaining 10% is to pay our gm staff!)
- Credit system where you can turn it in for custom characters, growths, alt/art, characters to gift, and even pet trades
- Access to our SUPER SECRET STAFF FORUM OF SECRETS
- Credit system to redeem in minipets of your choice
- Ability to collaborate with other artists!
- A fun artist community of suffering. We've come and seen a lot of great artists in this community, if you want a full list check out our staff list here
gaia_crown [ Full time, part time or guest? ]:
- All artists hired will start at part time. If your schedule is pertaining you may be asked to move to full time which gives you priority in IRL bribes and auctions
- Part time artists have no severe requirement, the quota is roughly 1 custom a month. If you can do more, power to you!
- Guest artists have no obligation but cannot do pet trades/ bribes/ auctions. You can art whenever, and will still be tied into the credit system.
