The sun set over the expansive wastelands of the city. For all that it was being repaired, it was still crumbling down around everyone's feet. Sitting atop a mass, a small pup rested, watching the glowing remains of the sun reflect off bits of scrap and metal.

There was a breeze that briskly swept through, ruffling the little pup's fur. It sent a chill through her that sent a shudder move down her spine. It was an unpleasant feeling that set her up to stand again, turning in a circle and stretching to try to get rid of it. An ear flopped into her face as she did and she pushed it harshly to the side.

A heavy worn frown was stuck to her face. She had been staying with Fox and the others for some time now, and at first she'd protested it greatly, looking for an escape. Constantly waiting for her fathers to collect her up.

Over time, however, she realized they simply weren't. So she'd relented. Letting herself slowly become friends with the others. Why would she go back to a place that she wasn't needed or missed? At least Raider played with her, that was fun.

Looking out over the city at dusk, though, made her non-existant heart ache again. She could see the tower in the distance. There had been times she'd considered going back, chasing that dream. She'd never felt courageous enough to attempt that on her own though.

Now she was just bitter.

Jumping down from her perch as the last remains of light faded away, the pup hurled a howl from her maw as her paw caught up under her, sending her rolling away and down through pile of scrap. With a loud thud she hit the ground. It took her a moment to get her wits about her, and she pushed herself up on her feet. Looking up she could see back to where she fell through.

"Great." the little pup murmured. Now she had to find an alternate route out.

Looking around, she frowned a little. She didn't recognize this part of the city; and she wasn't even all that far from her normal haunt. It was strange. Whatever though, she puffed up, trying not to wince from the pain that was now climbing up through the paw that gave out under her. She was going to find her way back to Fox's place, at the very least.

Five was parkouring though his little underground playground. It was a little known series of tunnels naturally formed over the destruction of the City. His pink laces glowed in the dim light, something he found rather fun actually. His pink fingerless gloves echoing the effect. He had just cleared a full circle before landing lightly on his feet.

Blinking he stood as he spotted...a pup. He looked around, there shouldn't be any pup's here. Fox would of killed. There was dangers here, others who would dive for a chance to brainwash a pup. Damage them beyond measure. Just like him...he looked down. Pink eyes looked back up as he slowly walked forward.

With a bright cheery voice he spoke, "Little pups shouldn't be so far from Fox's Den. Your going the wrong way..." he stood there crossing his arms, "What's your name little pup?"

Instinctively, Aria growled and backed away from the larger audio. Her eyes met his as he walked forward, and she bared her teeth, ready to bite if the need hit.

Wait...

Did he say fox?

As fast as she'd begun to growl, she was no taking a tentative step forward, that stubborn ear falling into her face again (which she was, again, quick to push back out).

"Aria. I'm Aria." her head tilted at the boy.

"You know Fox?"

Five chuckled, little pups were cute. Innocent. In need of protection. His smile faded but replaced itself as he started to speak, "I heard of her, never met her, but I do know where she is. I was told to keep an eye on her a few times.."

He hummed at the name, "Aria. That's pretty. I'm Five." he would save the triad of his full name for later, when he trusted Aria more. He took a few more steps before crouching down, "Want help outta here? There's more than just me lurking around..."

Out? Out of here sounded like a good idea.

"Five." she repeated, chewing on the name. "Like the number." she grinned at the other.

"Yes, I'd like help out I think. Yes please." she nodded her head, letting herself sit back on her haunches, pawing at her head a little as she thought. Though one question ticked at the back of her brain.

"Why did you get told to watch Fox? You could just talk to her." the pup offered easily enough.

"She's nice. In a weird way. Pretends to not be nice."

Five chuckled as he leaned on his knees, "My Boss didn't like her. At all. So, he asked me to watch. You all would play in my turf anyways...all the playgrounds. Mine." His head tilted, his pink eyes showing some of his unstable nature hidden.

If Aria saw that, she most likely would bolt into the familiar streets towards home. As it was, she had no where to run. Five held out his arms, "Can I carry you out? It'd be faster."

Five would admit he loved pups. The rare times he would get to hold one, he would know to take them to either the sole orphanage still standing. Or to Fox's Den. But, he enjoyed their warmth, the sensation that this little life was depending on you for a time. He smiled, his tail waved slightly behind him.

"Yours?" Aria seemed confused by his claim to the playgrounds. Actually she'd never spent much time around them. It was only recently that Fox had 'allowed' her to leave her hideaway.

Though most of that 'allowed' was Aria would sneak out without asking. The pup didn't wander far though, so Fox had stopped panicking when she'd disappear.

Aria glanced at Five's arms as he held them out. The pup loved to be carried. She'd clamber over the others at Fox's; ignoring the odd complaint of her heavy stature (she had metal bones! It wasn't her fault!).

Tepidly she reached her injured paw out, lightly touching his hand. Something in her head told her this was a bad idea. Something said no. He seemed so friendly though, and she wasn't worldly enough to recognize the instability of his nature.

After all one of the individuals she lived with repeated his name non-stop and whistled at everything. Who was a fair judge of what was stable?

Five cooed softly as he saw the paw, "Awww....Aria you got hurt..." he took off the bandana around his neck to gently wrap a slim cylinder scrap of metal to keep it straight, "You have to keep it still, let me know if you don't like that and I'll cushion it. Okay sweetie?"

He then picked her up, blinking a little at her weight, "Huh...your a healthy one. That's good. Shows Fox is a good caregiver." He cradled her before turning. Mentally calculating his strength and her weight. He could do a few tricks...but he would save those for later.

"It cracked a little when I fell. I think Glitch or Fox can fix it when I get back." Glitch was metal, like her, so she'd go to him first. Though she was pretty sure she'd seen Fox fix Glitch before too, so either way she was pretty sure she could get a repair easy enough.

Looking down at her paw after he wrapped it up with a makeshift splint, Aria's tail wagged a little behind her. Her head lifted back up and she grinned at the boy, nodding her head enthusiastically.

"Thanks!" she chirped, not really understanding the use of the splint (she didn't understand anything about first aid really), but knew that it was definitely nice of him to do. Plus if it kept her paw from going out of place, that was even better! She wasn't in the mood for sparking wires today.

When she was picked up, she'd been about to argue over the fact that her weight wasn't a good measure of her care (not that she wasn't cared for; she was), but as she was cradled she removed herself from the idea, her fluffy puppy face nuzzling into the other, content to be carried like this.

It was nice.

Five snuggled the pup closer as he walked down the tunnel, "This place is like another world, Aria. I live at the end of one of the tunnels down here. If you ever get lost...look for the blue scarps in a line" he stopped turning to show her a wall. He reached out and patted a electric blue scrap, "Like this one here. Those lead to my playground. If you want Fox's Den..." he walked a little ways down his eyes scanning the wall till he smiled.

Reaching out he patted a dull orange, "This is the color your looking for. It breaks a few times, but its this orange." he started walking again, not looking at the wall.

Aria's attention moved from nuzzles to looking where Five was indicating the coloured lines. Pushing her ear out of her face again, she noted the colours and what he was associating them with.

"I'll remember that." she offered, looking up at Five, grinning.

"Though hopefully the next time I'm down here isn't cuz I'm lost." tail wagging a bit behind her, she was wasn't looking to go for another tumble anytime soon!

Though she'd like to come back and visit maybe sometime. That could be fun! These tunnels were actually pretty neat, and she was impressed as he walked her through them.

"Who's your boss, by the way? I meant to ask earlier."

Five chuckled, "That would be cool. I don't mind visitors. I'm down here most of the time anyway. I could meet you at Fox's Den and show you the tricks to remember around here if you wanted."

Truthfully the youth had zero friends, Fox kept her pups...well most of them it seemed. Very close to her. Made things difficult for Five to make friends his- mental age. He blinked at her question, "Flashover."

Aria was unable to contain the obvious cringe that was elicited from her at the familiar sound of that name. That audio... that audio was the one that took her from her family. The one who caused her to be where she was.

"Flashover..." the name held a bitter taste in her tiny maw, and she began to shift uncomfortably.

"He's dead though, right?" she'd heard Fox and Glitch talk about it. He wasn't a concern anymore, it seemed. Were they wrong?

Five looked sad for a moment, he did like his Boss; "Yeah. He's gone...its okay. I can find new family." he held the pup a little closer a small shiver to his body she would be able to feel, "Its no big deal."

Wait was he hugging her? Aria was confused for a moment, but she listened to his voice and she felt her stomach tighten. She didn't get it for a moment, however when it finally clicked in...

Oh... he's sad.... Her one good ear flopped back over her face again, the little stubby one twitching a bit as he hugged onto her. She understood loss.

"I lost my family too." she offered quietly, gently nuzzling her nose against him, trying to chin him up.

"But you're right. You can make a new family. And then you get a choice, right? Then you want them... an'... an' then they want you."
