It was a quiet evening, the last light of day faded and the moon just a sliver in the sky. A black and red moto'undil stalked through the night his yellow eyes taking in everything. He'd had a pleasant meal of rabbit and berries just around dusk and was really just stretching his legs and exploring a piece of territory that was still fairly new to him. It had a good balance of tree cover and rocky outcroppings as well as water sources.
When Azazel had stumbled across an abandoned den a few days ago, it had been timed perfectly. He'd recently caught the scent of a female of his own kind, a scent that had been curiously mixed with smoke. It was an odd mix and roused his curiosity and interest; it had been a long time since his last conquest and female company was always a pleasure. But he'd been there for days now and had not caught the scent again, it was odd and challenging. Perhaps she'd just been passing through. No matter the den was cozy and the area plentiful. Either she would return or another lady would pass through, Azazel would enjoy his time here while he waited.
Relaxed and content from his meal the moto chose an actual destination for his travels. He turned to head to a small stream-fed pool for a swim when he spotted a strange light among the trees. It was a flickering light moving through the trees, like a pair of flames dancing in the night... Now this was more interesting than a bath, he thought and on quiet paws moved to investigate the strange fire...

 Heilkat had spent the past few weeks outside of the small burrows she had carved out for herself. The female wasn't really building a nest for any potential kits...well not really. Heilkat had been feeling restless lately and this series of burrows was the proof. She left them, knowing that the local wildlife wouldn't bother with her scorch marked burrows. The female had been enjoying a quiet meal of a small animal which had happened by her when another scent prickled her nose.
It was of a male of her kind. Odd. Most of the ones around here were among others, this one was...alone. She started to pad her way towards it, coming upon one of her fake dens she made to trap meals. The female chuckled. Seemed as if the male didn't really look around or...oh man. She squinted at the wall where her scorch marking her territory had been rubbed off. How in the world did that happen? She growled before sulking away towards the stream where she dipped her head for a drink of water. The flames on her horns providing light for her as well as giving away her position.

Azazel followed the light which led curiously enough to the stream. He paused in the underbrush his eyes adjusting to the change in the lighting and was surprised to find the flames dancing above the head of... a female moto'undil. He studied her as she dipped her head to drink, it seemed her horns were aflame. Fascinated he stepped out of the brush and into the clear space neat the water.
"Good evening," he said conversationally regarding her with his slightly lidded sensual eyes clearly showing his fascination and admiration of her fiery form. "I was worried something had caught fire out here... I'm glad to find that is not the case..." His voice was low seductive, his normal tone, and also full of curiousity. "I suspect that your horns of flame are no danger to the forest around us?" SwordOfTheDarkOnes Sorry this took so long. Hubby ended up with a weird schedule that gave him a week off, so he had the computer most of the time.

The female coolly straightened to sit on her haunches. Looking the male up and down, her eyes glowed under the light of her horns. She quirked a eyebrow before huffing, "Evening." she gave him a long suffering look, "Of course not. Unless I want them too. What do you take me for?"
She shook her head as she stood on all paws, looking the male over she mused. His dark pelt allowed him to blend into the shadowy forest around them. She blinked as she drew closer, the light of her horns dancing across--HOLY CRAP! She jumped as the light reflected off of the male's bright eyes. She wasn't expecting that. Recovering she stifled her jump with a soft cough, "What brings you out here? This is my territory, bright eyes."

"Oh of course not," he replied soothingly and smirked, "I'm not sure what to take you for, since I've never seen anyone quite like you before."
He just stood there as she approached and tilted his head curiously as she jumped. Ahh, bright eyes, she called him that must be it, the fire was probably doing wonderful things with his yellow eyes. "I'm just a wanderer passing through. I caught some interesting scents and it is such a nice spot I thought I'd stick around for a while. I was hoping to perhaps discover some pleasant company...." He moved smoothly closing the distance between them.

Heilkat kept her ground as the male seemed to circle her, the flames on her horns licked with a bit more force than before. If one were to get to know her they would find out that the flames were a direct reflection of her mood. The brighter the flame the happier, the more force the angrier. Right now she was getting irritated. She liked her personal bubble...he was testing the borders.
"I'll take that as a compliment, but...whatever scents you caught were most likely your imagination." she said turning her head to look forward. The male wasn't affecting her. Not at all. She inhaled slowly and the flames died a little in force. Her front right paw tapped lightly.

He watched her flames as they changed. Where they reacting to how she was feeling? he wondered.
"Definitely a compliment, fair lady," he replied pausing with a good stride's distance between them. He didn't want to push too much, not yet anyway. "I doubt it was my imagination. Your flames seem to confirm it; the scent of a lady mingled with smoke... Sound familiar perhaps?"
He tilted his head his lidded eyes and voice mingled with his challenge, I'm here because of you, for you. Now what do you make of that my dear.

Heil's tail curled as she snapped her attention completely to the male, she let her eyes fall to half mast before she gave the male a sultry purr. She got close, the flames on her horns gentle before she purred; "Thanks for the compliment." then her face deadpanned as she spoke seriously, "I don't do one night stands."
With that the female flicked her ear and went back to the stream to finish her drink. Tossing over her shoulder, "Stick around if you need water and food, I was about to go hunting soon."
Heilkat was a confusing one indeed....

An answering admiring purr responded to hers as she grew closer. He watched her as he face changed in the light of her flames. His eyebrow went up at her serious tone and words. Then he laughed, "So quick to dismiss the benefits of a night of pleasure? But I understand. After all one night is not nearly enough time for me time to get to know you after all..."
And he wanted to get to know her, even more now. He tried to tone back the seductive tones, to widen his eyes, but the voice the stance were all so ingrained in him it was his normal. Still he made the effort in order to answer to her challenge.
He joined her at the stream getting his own drink. "I just enjoyed a meal myself. I was going to that pool just upstream for a soak. Perhaps you'd like to join me after your own meal?" With another female he'd have offered to join her in the hunt, but he felt that offer of assistance would be an insult to this fiery female. Still the offer of continued company was there should she want it...

Heilkat thought for a moment, "I can't go out too far in water but I can enjoy a shallow wade. Meet you there." with that the female took off for the woods. Once she was a good distance away she let out a breath. Mentally telling herself to act right, the male was nothing...she glanced back. Maybe nothing. He was just a male....
Right?
She hunted had her meal then lounged out as she perched on a ledge to watch the male. He would know she was there, her horns gave her away. But the female put distance between them. A clear sign she wanted to just observe for now. She would descend when she wanted.

Azazel watched her as she thought on his proposal, and took it as a good sign that she didn't dismiss him outright. He smiled and barely managed a "Good hunting," before she took off.
How interesting this was turning out to be, he thought quite pleased with himself. This certainly wasn't a lady for a one night stand, she was far far too interesting for that. His mind was still on the game, but it was his nature to play. He was a vain creature but also a curious one. She intrigued him enough for him to let her call these initial steps in the dance.
After his eyes readjusted to the darkness without the fire of her horns illuminating the immediate area, he made his slow way toward the pool. As much as he wanted the soak, he didn't want to spend his night in the water. When he reached the pool he slipped into the water up to his chin and swam around enjoy the feel of it. It was hard to tell on his black and red coat after a normal grooming if he'd gotten all the blood after a hunt, with a good swim he felt truly clean.
He let his thoughts roam as he swam and time moved quickly or perhaps she just had a quick hunt because soon he spotted the reflection of fire on the water. He looked up and tried to catch her eye to acknowledge her presence, as he left the pool to begin a full grooming to aid in drying. Azazel just went on with his routine. Occasionally glancing up, she was quite the sight up there illuminated by her flames against the night sky. He hoped she come down at some point, but he was certainly willing to climb.... after his groom was complete...

Heilkat watched the male, intrigued. Azazel certainly had something about him which would assure any female of a strong litter. She didn't trust that for a second however...the male seemed. Aloof. Too aloof for her liking. But, yet....she couldn't deny that he had a hold on her. She watched his form as it cut through the water, the male truly was a hunter. That would be good in the long run, she reflected. Shaking her head the female swore to herself. This male was not going to have that strong of a hold on her unless he proved himself to be a steadfast partner. Of course this was all based on the thought that he actually wanted her. The female snorted as she made her way down the rocks to the grassy sand bordering the waters. She prowled the edge before stepping delicately into a shallow part. Using her front paws the female was careful. Growling irritably as she attempted to wash her back. She sighed...great.

He carried on with his meticulous grooming even while keeping his eye on her. Azazel was pleased when she did come down and approached the water. Her caution was curious, fire and water didn't mix normally but her fire was clearly not normal. Would the water quench those flames?
His curiosity finally got the best of him, and even though he had not completed his own routine he got up and joined her at the water's edge. He observed her frustration as she attempted to wet herself using her front paws.
"Could I perhaps lend a paw fair lady?" he offered. "I'll be careful of your flames. I'd hate to damage such an integral part of you." He reached his paw into the water, a sensuous motion, and lifted it again cupped some water in his paw before tilting and allowing the water to pour back into the pool. All to demonstrate how gentle he could be of course...

Heilkat stared at the male for a time before nodding, "Fine...you can help." she then moved to offer her back to the male. Her cheeks actually burning with excitement, usually she would roll in the shallows to get her back. Bathing with another so close was new. Specially a male...normally by now the male would be running off with a few new scars from her claws.

Azazel smiled though she could not see it with her back to him. Slowly he brought paw's full of water to her back and smoothed it through her fur with gentle caresses. He decided it might be a good time to be more conversational. "I've realized I've neglected something since first seeing you, fair lady. Of course you can see why I've been a bit distracted, but that's no excuse for my failure introduce myself. My name is Azazel."
He continued to scoop water and paused just short of giving her a massage in the process. "I think that should do it ..." he finally said stepped back. "I may just need to take another quick dip myself to continue finishing my own. I tend to be a bit fastidious ... it's something of a fault this vanity of mine..."
