Name:Sanele (We are satisfied) Kubu (Rebellion)
She goes by Kubu while racing, but her family and friends call her Sanele.
Race: oban
Will go beast tamer for all that she is a Xaraan racer 8D
Gender: Girl (I would like her to be drawn on the male base though!)
3 Base Traits: Courageous, Vindictive, Competitive
Personality: Sanele lived in a busy household so one had to be loud to be heard and paid attention to. Her parents both worked hard and were often away from long hours, leaving the elder sisters to tend the house and their siblings until they themselves found work. The family came first for them; you helped your family at all costs! This mental attitude was passed on to Sanele and she is very protective of her family and will spend her last coin to help them.
She is very strong willed and will do things that she sets her mind to; to leave things unfinished is a waste of time and money! A sin! She despises wasteful behaviors, having had to scrap by and save every last thing. Nobles tend to piss her off the way they throw money around.
She hates to lose, and will remember each time she has lost and remember who caused the loss. She wants to get revenge in some way (usually by beating them at whatever she lost in the first place). She can put on a happy smile all the while plotting her revenge.
Sanele does not back down from any challenge and will fight against any fear she has to get the task done. She dislikes heights, but will not let that stop her from climbing trees t get at the fruits or nests of birds. Pain is bad, but she will work through it and do her best to not let it slow her down. She goes full tilt at her tasks, and won't let stupid fears keep her down!
Description: A buff and lean girl with braided black hair that's held back in a red and gold kerchief. . Dark skin (like Saraf's.. I adore his color) I'd like her to have some stones on her face.
Clothing: She wears tattered pants with a sash. Her top is very much like the Alkidike tops theme wise. She wears no shoes.
Accessories: She has copper earrings and anklets.
History: Sanele was born into the poorer working classes of Oba. They had no slaves nor did they see any slaves in their section of the city as slaves cost money to buy and maintain. To do something, you had to do it yourself; make your own clothes, tend to a small garden to supplement the breads and meats you bought (if you could).
She was the fifth child and in fact, the fifth girl. her parents were a little distressed about the sheer number of girls in their family. Girls you had to provide dowries for and tended to find it harder to get jobs... So she and her sisters were raised almost like sons. They were taught not how to behave properly, but how to work. How to fight and survive. Her oldest two sister turned out to be good warriors and sold their swords to help bring in money for the family. The third daughter was frail yet beautiful... She planned to marry a rich husband when she came of age. The fourth daughter loved farming and works as a farm hand on a nearby farm. Sanele, though, always loved animals and had a way with them. She was able to keep the small coop they had next to the house always producing eggs; enough that they were able to share with their neighbors. Neighbors were after all like family!
As a child she was raised mostly by her frail older sister since the others were usually working. She loves her parents dearly as they would always do the best they could for their family... She knows other poor family's had sold their daughters and is very thankful that her parents are people they are.
Poor as they were, they still saved up so that every other week the family would go watch the Xaraan races and cheer on their favorite racer. It could be a waste to spend that money.. but they see it as a reward for the work they've done so far. And when she first saw the Xaraan races for the first time; longed to be on of those jockeys. She loved how fast they went, how the crowds cheered, the wild life they lived. her family could not afford to buy her a Xaraan to enter the races with, so Sanele had to think on how to get in through other means. her break came when her eldest sister came home from war to marry a fellow warrior.. who was the son of a breeder. Sanele was quite eager to get on the good side of the father in law.. and he soon saw that she had a talent. One he intended to nourish into proper paths for a Xaraan breeder. Sanele still lives with her parents, preferring to get paid and jsut travel to the breeding farms instead of getting paid in room and board.
Once she became 13 and had grown some, she approached Nhlanhla about racing. He was leery of it at first, but her determined and rather pesky way of asking about it finally got him to agree to at least let her enter some of the smaller races with his support. He claims she is just testing them to see if there are any good racers that he can sell to the big time racers.
Side note: Xaraan races occur in big stadiums much like how I picture the Roman chariot races. They were hugely popular and the jockey's were often invited by nobles to parties and shown off like ornaments. A jockey's popularity depended on how fast they raced and how often they won. They gathered huge groups who would support them. But this fame is often fleeting so many of the older jockeys would retire while the winnings were good and marry into wealth using their popularity or buy a plot of land to live off of the rest of their days... at least the smart ones did! Some got too addicted to racing though and ended up dying on the track or losing it all.
Another Side Note: She worships (as her main god) On’os the god of time and fortune as he is (in my version) the patron god of racing. Racers will pray to him to grant them a faster time, or bless them with good fortune in this race.
Family: Kubu is the last name of the family.
Father: Vuyo (Joy) Kubu - works as a delivery man for a carpentry shop; he and a set of others transport the huge furniture to houses for fairly low wages.
Mother: Ciko (dancer) - bar maid/cleaner at a tavern.
Sisters from oldest to youngest
Ayanda (Augment the family ) - soldier(swords) and married to Thabo (Happiness)
Litha (Ray of Light)- soldier(archer)
Nobuntu (Kindness) - gorgeous yet frail at home person. Seeks to marry rich.
Thandie (Beloved) - farm hand and wants to own her own huge garden. (will end up gong to Neued)
Nhlanhla (Luck) Mandla (Power) - father in law of Ayanda, owns a Xaraan breeding farm.
Gijimi (messenger) - married to Nhlanhla
Thabo (Happiness) - Eldest son of Nhlanhla and married to Ayanda - soldier but now learning how to run the breeding farm.
Khethiwe (Chosen) - Middle son of the Mandla family. Fancies himself a musician. (so so, better at carving.)
Njabulu (Happiness)- youngest child and only daughter of the Mandla family.-spoiled and Sanele hates her.

I really love her concept, and the fact that she's from a super poor large family. I don't really have anything to add or point out, so: Accepted :]  Journal
