~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Creature Taming Info Creature: Wild hastar Location: Serenia, the forests near Avani's home - Serenian Hastars: -------May only be caught by those in their Adept or Orakovan stage (or higher). ----- -15 to capture, -15 to tame, +10 to train.
Avani first felt embarrassed for offering the help to the Firani khehora, but then she realized that the khehora wasn't mad at her, but at the hastar! So when the khehora galloped off after the hastar with more hurt pride than anything else, Avani stood laughing at the situation, and admiring Naita’s grit.
She gathered her gear and ran after Naita as best as she could.
It was only a matter of moments until she came upon the hastar and Naita. The hastar had ran into a trap in the form of a cliff that rose on three sides of it, trapping it in with Naita blocking the way it had come in. Avani knew where they were, it was just at the beginning of the deep forest.
Avani went to stand next to Naita, and despite worrying a bit at the look of furry on her face, Avani then focused on the hastar.
"Block it's way and I'll go in there and rope it fresh. If it comes this way, you can stop it I'm sure."
Avani slowly went towards the hastar, her rope in both hands.
"It's ok baby... I'm not going to hurt you. Just... stand still...."
Avani threw the lasso and caught it again! She quickly pulled the rope around a tree to help her keep the hastar at bay. It lifted it's front hooves into the air, and then ran towards Naita.
"Block it!" Avani shouted as she moved around the tree so that it still functioned as a help for her to control the hastar. She slipped a bit, but quickly recovered. As the hastar went by, she grabbed the other rope that had been on it before and used that the same way as the new rope. "If you can, make him stop moving so I can control the beast better!"
Avani struggled to maintain control, but she knew she was in control. Barely, but in control.
Now if only it would stop moving....
“Ha!” Naita crowed at the hastar, “You're trapped! Wanna try that shitty trick now?!” she snorted, a little smoke spilling out of her nostrils, “Don't think I'll forget that anytime soon. We'll catch your scaly a** one way or another.” she turned slightly as Avani caught up and nodded, spreading her wings to give her better coverage. “It ain't getting past me, matey. Not again.” she growled, grinning toothily, “On my honor... such as it is... I ain't letting it go.” That she had no honor didn't need mentioning. Honestly, it wasn't entirely accurate – she did have honor... she just had a different kind of honor.
She lifted a foreleg to give Avani room to rope it and watched as the Orderite moved at the hastar. “Careful...” she offered, watching both of them with her intense fuschia eyes. “Caaareful...” She wasn't particularly fond of the magescian, but Avani had been a decent sort and Naita wouldn't want her to get hurt. Especially as it would be Naita who would have to explain that to the kid, and explaining OH HEY YOUR FREAKY TWOLEG MAMA GOT HER FEATHERED a** CLAWED BY A HASTAR AND DIED to the innocent little Gaili khehora would be awkward as hell and not something Naita wanted to do.
Of course, she could leave it at that, but she wouldn't. Honoka had been raised by this Orderite and practically tame, so it would be pretty terrible to just leave her hanging. Better to tell her. Somehow. If something happened.
“s**t!” she exclaimed as the hastar reared, “Keep away from it's hooves!” she called, racing to block it, “Those do a lot of damage, you know!” It chuffed and reared at Naita, trying to run again. “Oh no you don't...” she swore at it, growling and moving to block it.
Stop it from moving? How? If she wasn't supposed to kill it, she had to keep her claws out of the picture... And the tip of her tail was dangerous... and magic was so far out of the picture that it was in a different frame entirely.
“Oh flame and water...” she swore, and stopped bothering to think. She charged towards the hastar and body-checked it, slamming it to the ground. It struggled on its side, trying to get to its feet, and she set herself on top of it, her weight holding it down.
“Ha!” she said, sneering right in it's face, “Got you, you scurvy arse...”
It whinnied at her and kicked, and Naita laughed. “Oi, Avani,” she said, tossing her head at the Orderite, “I got 'im. What now?”
Naita, not Malta -.-""" Apple derped...
Avani tied the ropes to the tree tightly, as the beast lay under the weight of the adult khehora. hopefully that would hold the beast still while Avani tired to calm it down. She had packed some training jewels with her as well as some fruit her father's hastars liked when given treats.
"Let it up, hopefully the ropes hold."
She saw the skeptical look on the khehora, but she let the animal loose. Avani took some fruit out of her belt pack and walked up to the animal. It was not happy to say the least. As Avani approached, she watched as it reared up and pawed at the air. It pulled at the rope and snorted at Avani.
As it settled down a bit, Avani got closer to the animal and made soothing noises, at the same time holding out the fruit.
"Easy... Easy..." Avani said inching closer.
But the animal gave one last cry and reared up.
The ropes snapped, and barely getting out of the way, fruit flying into the air as Avani fell to the side as the animal ran past, the hastar bolted past her and out of the cliff area.
To make maters worse, the fruit came down and hit Avani square in the head.
Sticky and angry, Avani stood up and yelled up into the sky, venting her frustration at the situation.
Venting done, Avani fell to the ground and laid looking at the sky contemplating what to do next. Would Naita like to go after it again, or would she like to call it quits for the day?
If it was Malta they might actually have gotten it XD
Naita eased her weight off of the hastar, giving Avani an odd look. But, she figured, the Orderite had more experience with strange things like catching a beast without killing it, so she sat back and watched. She tensed as it reared, prepared to pounce on it again and hold it there until it got the message and behaved it's stupid self, but Avani managed to control it.
Huh. the Khehora thought, Might actually work this time. She wasn't into fruit, but she'd heard that hastar ate whatever they could get, greedy things, so she figured there had to be some merit to the stuff.
And then the hastar decided to flee. Naita dashed at it, but it was out of reach, leaving broken rope, smashed fruit, and what sounded like a very upset Orderite in its's wake as it crashed into the forest.
Deliberately, she walked over to Avani and sniffed. ”Good set of lungs on you.” she commented, ”Nice glaze too.” she snickered as the woman shrieked her rage to the heavens. ”You've got spirit, I'll give you that. Guess that hastar has just a bit more, huh.” She tilted her head, inquisitively. ”Well, I'm all for going after the b*****d. We've gotten this far and I'm not keen on giving up yet. But what about you?” she chuckled, ”If I breathed on you I could glaze you properly, get you a nice bit of caramelization.”
Mmm. Glazed, roasted Orderite? Might be good. Might cook out some of this woman's crazy. Naita knew that glazed roasts were tastier than raw meat. More varied, too.
She was only joking, though. She wasn't going to eat Avani – she'd said so and she wasn't hungry enough to dare the insane consequences of eating this insane woman. Plus, she kind of liked her. Naita's eyes glittered with mischief. ”'Course, if yer already cooked enough.” she said, smirking toothily, ”We can go back and get something warm in ourselves.” like soup. Naita had a new appreciation for soup as food.
She stretched languidly. Honestly, she wanted to go after that flame-damned hastar, but not alone. That was not a beast you took down alone. ”Up to ye.” she said.
Avani chuckled at the khehora's jokes. She pushed herself off the ground and looked at her fruit drenched clothes and then back at the tree that held the remains of the ropes. She should go buy more rope if she's going to try to catch this hastar. She chuckled at the thought then stood up feeling yukky with fruit all over her.
"I'm all for retreating for some fresh clothes and bait, and rope... Need lots of that..." She smiled at the khehora brightly, "While I clean up you can rest and get some food if you wish. Of course after I check you over with a light healing spell I know. Don't want you to get too banged up going after the beast."
"I figure that he can wait a bit while we get back some of our strength." Avani smiled, "That way we can keep going till nightfall!"
