It was Saturday and the line was astronimically long. Justin should have known better, he really should've, but nonetheless, here was - queueing with the rest. It was a small price to pay to see the newest installment in the Hobbit series. It had been a while since it's release, so most of the crowd here today was for some family drama or other. It was a forgettable movie title that Justin had immediately dismissed. He watched as a child dripped ice cream down his shirt and the parents, red with surpressed fury, dragged him out of line. Sighing, he pulled his phone out.

It was strange, he thought, how even on something as small as a phone a horror game could pull him right in. And this one, while not particularly scary (it was just a port of the old PS2 version of Haunting Ground), had atmosphere and puzzle. The line moved slowly as Fiona died another squeaky death, calling out for her dog. Justin had time - he always showed up early to movies - so he wasn't worried about the small crawl. Instead, he kept his head down, cursing under his breath as she died again, caught in the crushing grip of the enemy.

Ian had been itching to see the new Hobbit movie for a while, but the logical side of his brain kept telling him to wait until the hype died down. If he'd gone the first weekend it was showing, it would have been a nightmare! The crowds, the noise... heck, he probably wouldn't have been able to get a ticket at all. But now that it had been a week, he figured it would probably be a little quieter now. But he'd been wrong. The line at the box office was still incredibly long, prompting a small frown. He checked his cell phone and chewed on the inside of his lip. He'd gotten here early, so he probably had time to wait for his ticket, but getting concessions would be tight. Maybe he could make it without them... No, he had to have a water bottle, at the very least! And while he was there he might as well get what he wanted, right?

He saw the line move out of the corner of his vision as he'd been staring at the various posters lining the outside of the building, but the man in front of him didn't move. Upon closer inspection the dark-haired male was hunched slightly over his cell phone, clearly engrossed in whatever he was doing on it. Ian's chest tightened and he immediately grew nervous; maybe he would just notice on his own?

After a few minutes, however, it became clear that Ian would have to say something. He hated doing this, he sounded so rude when he was doing everything he could not to be, but... There was a sizable gap in the line now. It wasn't like his life depended on the line moving forward, but... He didn't want to just skip this guy who'd been here first, either. As he shifted to sort of lean around him and hopefully catch his attention, the florist recognized the man in front of him.

"Justin? Hey." He smiled a little, feeling relieved that it was someone he actually knew. Maybe just snapping his attention away from his game would be enough to get him to move? "Long time no see."

Something sort of fluttered at the edges of Justin's vision. He blinked, startled as a familiar voice called out his name. Abruptly, he realized the line had moved on without him, leaving quite an embarrasing gap. At the same time he also realized that a rather fine-featured ginger man was speaking to him.

"Oh. Hi, Ian! That's your name, right?" Justin was self-admittedly very horrible with names; it was a wonder he remembered the names of his relatives. But still, he spoke cheerily even as Fiona died yet another gruesome death. With a few quick taps, he backed out of the game (saving his progress be damned; he was doing awfully anyway), and slipped his phone into his pocket. "Funny to meet here. Ah sorry about the line thing, got distracted." He moved up in long strides - because what if someone cut in front of him? It would be awful.

And then he was at the ticket counter. Idly, he wondered what Ian was here to see: surely not that strange family drama. He paid, got his stub and lingered, waiting for the other man. "What're you here to see?"

Ian was relieved when Justin snapped to, his smile easing a little. He gave a short nod when Justin double-checked his name, not really thinking much of it. He knew he wasn't very headstrong, and likely didn't make much of an impression on a lot of people. He watched with mild interest as the screen on Justin's phone flashed and changed a few times, looking away when he realized it was probably nosy of him.

"Oh, it's alright. But yeah, it is kind of funny. Kind of a small world, huh?" He pushed his hands into the pockets of his chunky cardigan, slightly lopsided smile in place. He didn't really see a lot of people from the Lab around town, but then again he didn't exactly venture out a lot. But he had to admit that the movie theater was one of the last places he'd expected to see someone.

As they moved up in line and Justin bought his ticket, he smiled a little when he heard the movie he'd bought the ticket for. "Oh, I'm actually here for the Hobbit movie, too. Another coincidence." He laughed softly, quickly buying his ticket and joining Justin on the way into the theater building. He scratched idly at his jaw, where the slightest hint of shadow was forming; he'd neglected to polish his shave today, since it was a day off and he'd simply lazed about before now. He probably looked a little unkempt, which was embarrassing, but he tried not to dwell on it. "Uh, I think I'm going to get a snack real quick. What about you?" He jabbed his thumb gently toward the concession stand, where the largest portions of the line were just peeling away.

He stood slightly to the side as Ian purchased a ticket, somehow pleased that the other man was seeing the same thing. It only showed good taste, after all. "Well," Justin said consideringly as they moved into the thearter lobby. "Since we're both here, why don't we just see it together? Er, I mean if that's alright with you." He hooked his thumbs into his jeans and smiled at Ian, dimples popping in his cheeks. He handed his ticket stub and the attendant tore it, murmuring something about thearter number 6 and concessions.

"I'm heading that way too. You know, they sell these tiny pancakes in a bag here - weird, but good. They keep them warm." He gestured for the red-haired man to go in front of him, openly staring at the giant Hobbit display. It was gaudy and just a little cool. He coughed and turned to follow Ian. "Do you often go to the movies? To these type of movies? I saw the previous one at midnight." He laughed a little, excitement coloring his voice. "Ah, hold on one sec." Without thinking, Justin reached forward and dipped his fingers underneath Ian's collar, poking back down the tag that had popped up.

Ian raised his brows and blinked, before shrugging with a small smile. "Sure, that sounds good. We're both going to the same theater, after all." He scratched at his arm a little as he gave the worker his ticket as well, following Justin afterward.

As they stood in front of the concession stand, Ian chuckled a little. "Pancakes? At a movie theater?" It was an intriguing idea, but he wasn't sure if he'd try it. Maybe if Justin got some he would share just one? He didn't want to buy them and then not like them... But he could also just give them to Justin, since he liked them. "Hm? Oh, um, sometimes. I don't go to the midnight showings, though; too many people. I do like movies like this, though. Especially ones that are really...dynamically filmed." He laughed a little again, shrugging. A full theater of people was different than a full theater of rowdy people, after all.

When he felt Justin's fingers on his neck, Ian startled and almost jerked away. He blinked owlishly, reaching back after Justin moved away. "Oh, thanks..." He blushed, embarrassed because his tag had been showing but also because he'd reacted so violently. But he did appear to relax just a little after a few moments when they got to the concession counter. He ordered a package of the pancakes at Justin's recommendation, along with a bottle of water and a box of Junior Mints, before moving aside after paying to let Justin get his things.

Justin hmmmed and hawed at the concessions counter, before finally settling on pancakes (his were apple flavor though) and a soda. He hadn't missed Ian's jerk and subsequent blush. He had even flushed himself in response. There you go again, such a charmer, he thought derisively. "I avoid them mostly, although it's fun to see the costumes people wear." Justin jerked his head towards the theater. Number seven.

He shouldered the door open and breathed out a sigh. The lights weren't dimmed just yet - not time for previews, then. And the theater was almost blessedly empty. Justin had never really understood the whole make-out-in-theaters thing, but this would've been the perfect set-up. Would've. Except he'd completely blown it with Anita. Well, not blown it - she just hadn't been interested, no fault of hers. "Uh, pick whever you want to sit. And... I'm sorry about the tag thing - I tend to just do stuff without thinking. Lots of stuff..."
