 Welcome to the SDRP Halloween Party!Happy Halloween to students and faculty, both dead and undead! The Halloween season is upon us! To prepare you for this time of mystery and fright, the SDRP has you covered to get you into the spooky spirit. From art contests to tektek contests to writing contests and raffles, we have a lot to keep you busy, and many prizes that will bring a smile to your face! All Hallow's Eve, ye thrill seekers! People get their scares from a lot of different scary venues (IE Ghosts, monsters, stepping on the scale after the holidays). Writers often try to frighten thrill seekers using every tactic they have in their magic bags. The best horror writers know that sometimes saying very little is saying more."
"Here's Johnny!"
"They all float down here...."
"All the Halloween candy is gone and it's only November 3rd!!!!!"
Yeesh. Scary schtuff. The task is simple: write a frightening story using ONLY two sentences. Scare the hazeebies outta us and you have yourself a first place win!

ANNOUNCEMENT
Apologies for the delay due to some unforeseen circumstances....
Fortunately, a mysterious panel of judges have swooped in to make the final decisions on a winner...
The judges have finished deliberating... And the winners are...
Are you ready...?
In first place... Of whom shall be spared from the utter dread of the season... QuietBlue... With the entry....
"I stood at the top of the stairs, sleepily peering into the darkness for the scratching noise that had woken me, and saw a pair of large, yellow eyes staring back at me. I froze in place, eyes wide and suddenly very awake, as I remembered that my house is only one level."
In second place... Of whom shall also receive treats rather than tricks this time around... angeldenoche... With the entry.......
"Ears open, all is heard; eyes open, everything seen; but mouth is unable to move and speak. In mute horror, I must watch as my friends, with tears in their eyes, lower my coffin into the cold, dark ground."

Prizes and FeedbackAnd no contest is complete within prizes! The judges also have a few words to pitch in about their choice of the first place winner to serve as inspiration and learning material; they hope their comments are helpful! In first place, QuietBlue receives... Two Million Gold! Two Dragon Hoards! In second place, angeldenoche receives... One Million Gold! One Dragon Hoard! As for the commentary... The judges were entranced by the mystery factor of QuietBlue's entry. The story was more disturbing because you don't really know what is going on. Another thing this story had going for it was its unexpectedness. No one had been expecting someone to point out the fact that the reader in a bungalow when you are at the top of the stairs. Overall, it was the creativity and mystery that won this entry first place! In the end, it was a tough choice but there could only be one winner! Thank you to both participants for their participation! Like writing contests? Please consider participating in the ongoing SDRP Holiday 2014 Wordy Morsel Challenge! We have prizes!
