Tesni tried to blow a stray strand out of her face and failed. Well, this was turning out to be a grand day. The sun shining brightly with her partly out of the water. Limbs tangled in her long silky hair. It was days like this that made her tempted to cut it. Though, days like this were unfortunately not rare in her case. All she had wanted was to grab a shiny shell off the beach where the waves broke. But as soon as she swam to it, her hair tangled between her legs and wouldn't you know it, the shell started to walk away.
Tesni sighed. All she could hope for now was that Odhran would find her. Hopefully before low tide. She was still in the reef area, so maybe it wouldn't take to long. That is, if he was still in the reef area. It would be a shame if he had ventured out to try and collect shells only to come back to find not only had she failed, but that she had dried up in the process. Now she wasn't sure if she wanted him to find her or not. Maybe a stranger would come along and find her. One that wouldn't find this so horribly embarrassing as she thought it was.
Qetsiyah swam along with purpose, she was determined to get some shells from this lovely beach to make some jewelry. Being herself, she couldn't trust the task of gathering the perfect seashells to anyone else. So she made the long swim with vigor, alone.
As she surfaced near the beach, she was surprised to find that she was not alone. There lying about two feet above the waterline was a teal mare with long luxurious hair and a fine set of pearls. Intrigued Qetsiyah swam closer, "Here for the shells?" She called out trying to make perfectly polite but superficial conversation.

Tesni jumped as she heard a voice behind her. water splashed everywhere as she tried to turn around to see who it could be. Her long hair constricting tighter around her legs, resulting in a clumsy flop into the sand as she tried to wiggle free.
She finally gave up a few seconds later and tried to lay back onto her stomach. A little exasperated sigh escaping before she turned to smile at the newcomer. "Yup! Though as soon as I tried to get it, the shell got up and walked away." Her eyes going wide as she spoke of the walking shell.
Qetsiyah grimmaced at the other mare thrashed about. She hated having water splashed in her face which was rather stupid really. She lived underwater, water was always in her face. But splashing was different and she decidedly did not like it.
She heaved a sigh, "Conchs. They'll do that." Rather creepy little creatures at that. "Are you...stuck?" She asked a bit amused. The girl was nice enough and she wouldn't be the first mer to get stuck on dry land going after a shell. Sometimes mers could be a little single-minded in purpose when it came to shells and pearls.
Often, she'd seen beautiful pieces of driftwood or shells above the waterline tempting her. But she had never risked it, not once. The danger of getting beached was too great and having to admit she'd gotten beached would have been worse. She was not a mare who liked to ask favours.

A soft pink lined Tesni's cheeks. "Yes" She replied shyly. It wasn't hard to hide slightly under the hair that entangled her. "My hair often has a mind of its own, and I swear it enjoys seeing me tangled like this." Again, Tes tried to blow a strand of hair out of her face and failed. It was starting to get hot on this beach, and the waves were getting lower and lower. Maybe, if she asked very nicely, this mer wouldn't mind giving her some help. Tesni bit her bottom lip as she debated how to ask such a request. She still couldn't shake the uneasiness she sometimes felt around larger aquatics. She loved her herd dearly, but sometimes she wished she had grown up knowing at least a few regular sized mers instead of seathis and jellies.
Tesni lifted her head as much as her tangled hair allowed as she tried to look the mer in the eyes and smile. "Would it be bothersome to ask for some assistance?" Tesni looked at the receding water, worried that not only she would be stuck, but the ability of this new mer to not get stuck as well.
