Le Run Down Welcome to the third part of the mystery event! Even if you haven't participated previously, you may join in anytime. These events take place shortly after those of Part 2. This thread is an ORP, so RP your posts~ don't worry about length overmuch however, as it's also a game. Have a fistfight. Put those moves you learned in hand-to-hand combat to the test. Get street cred. Have fun! 8D * Your First Post In this thread is not a dice-roll, but simply your arrival at the scene. I'll quote you with your opponent afterward. * Every post thereafter, roll 2d20s. The first represents you, the second represents a gangster! * Say who you are attacking at the top or bottom of your post!1st dice (You): 1 = Critical Failure! You somehow manage to hurt yourself instead; give yourself +1 on all Enemy Dice for the rest of this thread. (This effect stacks.) Even if you have a +1 to Attack, rolling 1 is still a critical failure. 2-8 = You miss or the Enemy dodged, opening you to attack; the second (enemy) dice gets +1 for this post only. 9-17 = You land a pretty good hit. 2 more like this and the gangster will run away. 18-19 = You've got the gangster in a lock. Starting next post, you get a +3 on your rolls against them as long as they remain in the lock. If the Enemy Dice rolls an 11 or more, they will escape from the lock. 20 = Whatever you did, it was awesome. That gangster is K.O.'d. 2nd dice (Enemy): 1 = They somehow manage to hurt themselves instead; give yourself +1 to all Attack Dice for the rest of this thread. 8D (This effect stacks) 2-8 = You dodge them and get +1 to your attack dice for this post only. 9-17 = They land a pretty good hit; 2 more and you're K.O.! 18-19 = The gangster has got you in a lock! While in a lock, your Attack dice becomes Escape Dice; you need to roll an 11 or more to get out of the lock. While in a lock, the Enemy Dice always has +3 on their roll. 20 = Uh oh, the gangster had a critical success and knocked you out! Roll 1d8 until you wake up. You must get a 5 or more. In each of these posts, please do tell us about the weird dreams your characters are having while K.O.'d. 8'D (you don't need to use the dream generator, but it's good inspiration? xD) Teaming Up*If you've taken care of the gangster fighting you, you're free to assist others! When assisting others you only need to roll ONE d20 instead of two, representing your attack die. You also get +3 to your rolls. *If you hit a gangster while they have someone else in a lock, that person is now freed.

Somewhere near a dinky bakery, not too far from a certain Matia's residence, were more buildings with boarded-up windows and townhouses in disrepair. Despite the public side of streets themselves being more or less clear of debris, the alleyways that ran between the backs of these dubious shops and tightly packed homes were a resort for rats and cockroaches. The slum's residents, most of them leading their lives with a kind of defeated attitude, could not muster the daring to clean up in whichever parts of the neighbourhood were habitually used for shady dealings. During the daytime, it carried an anxious silence, tremulous air wafting with hinted danger; it was at night that it would sometimes come alive, though not all voices raised in those cases would be heard again.
It was in such a dim place that the sun was beginning to set, rays catching dust that reeked of filth. In was in such a place that shady figures had only just gathered to celebrate the end of a lucrative job. With leather coats and bottles of alcohol far above the quality of their usual fare, they cheered and made merry in fits of depraved laughter.
It was in such a place that the whinny and gallop of a show horse, the whipping around of a resplendent white shoulder cape and the sound of a flamboyant young noble's booming, audacious introduction was most unlikely to happen. But to the disbelief of most anyone who could witness him, the unicorn's silhouette proudly etched into his clothing announced that Saga Somnis had business there, indeed.
"MI-LI-TA-RY!" He cried, leaping off of Drakon while spinning, a blur of white and too-much-hair. "PO-LICE!" He finished, landing his boots on the cracked pavement. As the black stallion had charged through the alley, the gangsters had scattered in a panic; Saga had had ample space and time to stride up to the nearest man, rifle cocked and aimed with his finger over the trigger. His wide yellow eyes shone with jubilance and he grinned violently amidst the outraged shouts and threats of the men he had just interrupted. "FIENDS! Finally, we meet. You are all under arrest and shall be brought in for questioning! If you do not cooperate, I am authorized to use force! Do you resist?"
The oldest of the men, Capek, broke into a laugh, stepping forwards. He motioned to the rest of the men, who formed a circle around this lunatic child. "Hah! If this is what the military is made of, humanity is done for. Gnarly entrance, we'll give ya that." He mocked, eyes on Saga's trigger finger, pointed at Vinci. What could he possibly have hoped to do all on his lonesome? No, don't be distracted by it- Think, Capek. How do you keep him from shooting your man? He took another step towards Saga. If he shot Vinci, there would be time to tackle him down before he can take aim and shoot again. But if Vinci was fast enough, there would be no need. He raised just one eyebrow at his gang mate and wiggled it. It was supposed to be a signal, but Vinci wouldn't budge. He was sweating. You useless sack of... "So what if we do resist, eh? Y'think you can take all of us?" He finally offered the MP, trying to shake his confidence instead.
Saga, however, seemed to glow even brighter. Under the pretence of righteousness, there was a mad, driving hunger of the most infantile, fairy-tale-book, justice hero beats up the badguys scenario. In short, they were making his dreams come true. "Just the question I was waiting for." He stated, and promptly used his rifle to whack his victim into the nearest wall, headfirst. Due to Saga's monstrous arm strength, he was knocked out instantly.
Capek's eyes darkened instantly. "You'll regret that." And thus, the brawl began.
Minutes later, word of the ongoing incident was everywhere in the neighbourhood.

"What happened?" Jogging back over, Jeong had heard the sound of a door opening followed by a woman wailing before it slammed once more. Having stationed himself at the opposite end of the building, he hadn't been able to make out the words, just the fact that someone had been crying (or had an insanely obnoxious way of speaking but he figured it was the first option). Filled in by Hwan, the man sighed and felt discouraged from continuing the investigation any further. They didn't have any other leads from this one so there wasn't much of a plan B.
"Well great, that's just our luck." Said with a frown, Jeong pondered banging on the door to demand more information but knew Matia wouldn't have anything else to tell them. When a person tries to skip town they generally don't leave little hints or clues. Crossing his arms as he tried to think of what to tell the group, he blinked as the sound of a ruckus echoed down the street.
"Do you guys hear that?" One look at their faces told him and soon he was dashing down the street to find the source of the noise. Even if it was just a minor drunken brawl, it was their job to stop someone from getting hurt! Or at least to help kick someone's a** if they had been a complete douchebag!
"Saga?! Are these the kidnappers?" Jeong didn't know the man well but he remembered this person's face and that they'd rushed off on the shared quest of finding the truth behind the disappearing children. He supposed they could be something unrelated, since Jeong didn't know if Saga had some other enemies here in town, but the officer had been the only one to positively respond to their question about the slum kids. No matter who these people were, if they were in Saga's way to forcing on through then they were going down!
"We'll talk after! Come on!" A fight wasn't the opportune time to question what Saga had been up to so Jeong waved a hand to his allies and jumped into the fray.

"When we find this guy, we're gonna kick his a**." The door shut as Matia ran back inside her house out of extreme embarrassment and he looked to Amalia as if to ask her assistance ******** up Friedval. Their only lead had skipped town and it was clear he'd kept the news from spreading the best he could if even his work partner, whom he'd told everything else to, hadn't known of it. Hwan suspected Matia had walked in on the guy trying to leave her house or she wouldn't have known either.
Whoever Friedval really was, he was incredibly shady. Talking with his brother as they walked, they went over what they knew, what they didn't know and if they really had enough to continue this investigation. It might honestly be a waste of time, as Niklaus had said, not because nothing was there but because the criminals were simply too good at covering their tracks. It might be a case for a more elite set of soldiers but nobody was going to assign them to a case about street urchins, as interactions with the Garrison had stated over and over again. He suspected the slum people knew more than they were telling but he wasn't going to scare or torture it out of them or something. Honestly, he was a good guy, even if a little loud, and the idea of doing something so dark left a bad taste in his mouth.
Chaos sounded loudly from nearby and Jeong was charging off ahead. The fact that it was in the slums alarmed Hwan and he raced to follow, concerned that it could possibly be a kidnapping in progress. He was not expecting to find Saga at the scene once he'd arrived. However, it wasn't an unwelcome meeting! Especially since it looked like they had the advantage with the MP holding the only visible weapon.
He was kind of curious how Saga had tracked these people down when they themselves had gone on a horribly fruitless goose chase but he was not going to question it now. He just honestly hoped these were the right guys or the military was going to look really bad sending its members to wallop the poor around. But hey, Saga seemed to have no qualms about fighting them so he wouldn't either.
"We've got your back!" Grinning at the raven haired man, he cocked his head to his allies and then at the street punks before jumping at one of the hoodlums, fists flying. It was time to put that training to use!
Mythee Everybody was kung-fu fighting! KitsuneAura Not sure if you guys are coming back for the finale or not but, Qixel I really hope so, so I'm quoting you in case you wanna have 'followed along' with the twins!

Amalia nodded at Hwan. "Definitely. I'm so sick of this being-given-the-run-around bullshit." She clenched her fists and glared at the sky. "I really want to punch the s**t out of something right now." As if the Walls themselves heard her, the sounds of a fight were suddenly audible. Joining the twins in running, she stopped as she saw Saga fighting a group of thugs alone. "That dumbass. He's going to get himself ******** killed." She had barely finished speaking when she bolted into the fight, taking a swing at the gangster nearest to her before calling out to the military police officer. "You got balls trying to take on all these guys by yourself. That or you're stupid. Maybe both."

"I just don't know what we're supposed to do now..." Sighing, Larisa glanced back over shoulder at the home they'd just left. All that searching only to find that their one lead had already left town, it just seemed so unfair! She didn't want to give up the search, but what else was there for them to try? Talking to more of the people who lived here? That definitely hadn't seemed to get them anywhere the first time, though. It was more than a little frustrating to have no idea how to help.
Before she could dwell on it too long, though, there was a chaos of sound and her companions were taking off for it. She hesitated for a second, but there was no situation where staying behind in an unknown, dangerous place would ever beat staying with her friends, so she hurried along after them. As she'd expected from the sound, they found a fight, but she was amazed to find it was just one familiar face against many very unfamiliar ones. Had Saga's leads paid off where theirs had failed? Were these the kidnappers?
Hwan, Jeong, and Amalia were already diving in to help, almost without second thought, and she knew that was the right thing to do. Even a member of the military police couldn't take on a crowd like this on their own, right? Maybe she didn't have any experience with real fights, but...she had her training! Shifting into the stance they'd been taught, Larisa gathered up her courage and dove in after them. "B-be careful, everyone!"

((Oh gosh. rofl ))
Surrounded by gang members, the lone MP would had been at a marked disadvantage... if not for his horse. Every time he whistled, Drakon came galloping down the alleyway again, scattering the hooligans. Saga always took that brief opportunity to focus on one opponent; They had learned of his pattern, however, and now the gang members were ready to leap and try to tackle him down regardless of what blows they might receive if they so much as saw the long-haired teenager's fingers reach for his mouth. A wiser soldier would have stayed on their mount and both trampled and shot down their opponents, but Saga's heroic flair was a special kind.
After the latest of such episodes, where he'd missed the opportunity to attack at all, it was clear he needed a change of plans. I must gain distance.
"Reinforcements!" Came one of the gangster's cries, upon sighting the trainee uniforms at one end of the alleyway. Saga glanced over as well, smiling in surprise and appreciation at the arrival of these brave and unexpected comrades. Jeong's question was met with a fierce "INDEED!"- after which Amalia rushed in with her comments. "You are correct! I dare say, the two do tend to come together!" He laughed, an utterly distracted fool, before Capek launched towards him in a brutal tackle. They slammed into the ground together and he proceeded to try to steal Saga's weapon. "-Fun's over, ye fairy! MEN! TAKE CARE OF THE KIDS!"
Confident in their boss's abilities, the gangsters each ran for a separate target as Capek and Saga rolled about, trying to pry the rifle out of each other's grip.

NEW CHALLENGER! Nickname: Merman Origin: Maybe he's insecure about his body odor or something, or just loves to bathe, but to everyone's disbelief, every single day after p. much anything happens, good or bad, he'll say something like "I'm gon do take a dip" and then spend literally half a day's or night's length in his tub. Likes: Feeling fresh as pie. Dislikes: When a towels is already damp before he uses it. Also, when his mom gives him that really long, critical look, but doesn't say anything. Merman is tall and has a tough demeanor, which can make him quite intimidating. Blessed with great endurance, even if he gets slapped around a fair bit he can usually keep going like nothing happened. However, like his namesake, he lacks footwork. Good luck! MATCH START!

NEW CHALLENGER! Nickname: Cutler Origin: Short for Cutlery Ripoffs, a nickname he got from his own parody of a spoon collection like those in rich people's houses, except his are all just vaguely spoon-shaped junk like sticks, rocks, and crumpled wads of paper. Likes: Making fun of other people's obsessions/fixations. Dislikes: People that wear hats indoors, people that cry when he says things, and possibly himself. But he might be beyond caring. Cutler is a tough opponent. His brutality reflects his views about feelings being for the weak only. He'll be calm, calculating, and merciless in a fight. Good luck! MATCH START!

NEW CHALLENGER! Nickname: Messyah Origin: As an orphan child taken in by a church, he used to be a Wall cultist, but he had a near-death experience when a piece of Wall Maria fell on him and killed him in a nightmare. He then woke up from sleepwalking and nearly fell off the edge of a church's bell tower. Believing that the cult was trying to kill him, he ran away to become what he is now. He's since corrected his impressions. Likes: Being looked up to. Dislikes: Being reminded of the story of his past. Children. After being taken in by the gang, Messyah's arrogant personality has gotten him into a great number of fights. He may be slightly older than prime age, but he's still got some nasty moves. Plus an actual knife, which he is pointing at you now. Good luck! MATCH START!

NEW CHALLENGER! Nickname: Ripper Origin: It's actually a lot less cool than it sounds, and the anecdote involves accidentally torn pants and laughing girls who then spread the story like wildfire until it went all the way around and became his nickname. Not that anyone dares to bring it up anymore as he's built a scary reputation. Likes: Kittens. Knitting with yarn. Dislikes: Shaving. Scaring children. A powerfully built, big dude who can hold his own, but... He's probably pulling his punches somewhat, because he wanted to join the military too, as he was growing up. But then the pants thing happened... how sad. Anyways, you remind him of him, so no fear! Just fight! >D Good luck! MATCH START!

[Attacking: Ripper]
As the trainees rushed in to join the brawl, the criminals turned to face them. Larisa had gone in hoping to watch her friends' backs, but now she saw that she'd be too preoccupied worrying about herself because there were just enough gangsters for them to split off into one on one fights. The man that was approaching her loomed above with an almost impossible height and with all those muscles there was no doubting he was strong. Gulping, she held her stance as he stopped just in front of her, staring down at her with what she was (mistakenly) sure was pure contempt and a definite aura of doom.
"I guess, um, it's too late to um, talk this out, isn't it?" Larisa's voice squeaked a bit, and Ripper nodded, stepping forward as his fist began to pull back in preparation for a punch. He'd take it a little easy on her, he had decided, because she was small and scared and probably hadn't joined the military to get caught up in terrible unexpected events like this. Why, she almost reminded him of- Suddenly, the gangster's foot caught on some garbage that had been left to rot on the alley floor and slid. Losing his balance, he pitched backwards and fell, smacking his head on the ground and crying out with pain.
Larisa yelped as if she'd been hit, eyes wide and confused. "Ahh, are you okay!?" She took a step forward, then froze, shaking her head fiercely. "I-I mean-" She ducked her head, embarrassed that she was being friendly to a scary kidnapper. Obviously she didn't want him to be okay! "Forget I said that! I, um, I don't care if you are or not!" Her embarrassment was nothing compared to his, though, because he could feel his carefully built reputation crumbling just like that. The others would think he was clumsy, or that the girl had knocked him down with one hit, and they would laugh.
Anxious to preserve his rep, he surged off the ground at her with a loud battle cry. Yelping again, Larisa lashed out, and her fist smashed right into his face as it approached. He fell back again as she skittered back a step and regained her stance, and then he slowly climbed back to his feet. If she'd thought he'd had an aura of doom before, it was nothing compared to the look he gave her now, his nose bloody and eyes completely cold.

Turning to the nearest opponent, Jeong threw a fist straight into the brunette's face. Unfortunately, so did the brunette. Gah that hurt! Stumbling backwards, both men glared at each other while trying to size up what to do next. Jeong struggled to resist the urge to head over and help Hwan, knowing there were too many guys here to ignore on the way over. Wiping a little blood from his mouth, he smirked at the gangster to start a little trash talk before noticing something.
"What's that smell?" Fresh as flowers, the scent of soap was unmistakable. But why would he smell soap at a time like this?

Though Hwan had jumped at a guy thinking he'd catch him off guard, Cutler wasn't having any of that. The hoodlum sidestepped his lunge and sneered at the trainee with a look of disinterest which only fueled Hwan's desire to pummel his face in. Dammit, these people were the bad guys! Saga had said so! Why was he the one embarrassing himself and looking bad?
"s**t- augh-" Cutler took advantage of the fact that Hwan was facing the wrong direction to land a solid smash to the back of his head and the twin staggered forward clutching it. Ouch, he didn't think he could take many more hits like that, maybe he'd been too reckless initially. The olive brunette watched his movements wordlessly, not much of a talker. Cutler was cold and unemotional when he fought, passion was just a distraction in activities like these.

Amalia turned to focus on the dark haired man in front of her. More specifically, the knife in his hand. Her hand shot forward to grab for his wrist, but he dodged nimbly before cutting her arm. She dropped low, spinning around to deliver a hard kick to the man's leg. He stumbled, but did not drop the knife. She quickly got back to a standing position and put up her fists, and he took the time to get steady on his feet, but it was obvious the hit had done some damage.
