[.For Non-Owners Only]

[ The 12 Commandments to Non-owner characters ]

[.01] You must post your non-owner character profile in this thread. In order to enter a flatsale or participate in RP without a Raevan, you MUST have an approved character in this thread.
[.02] One post per person. This is not a journal; please keep all your information in one post. If you want to change your Guardian, you need to notify staff, and change it accordingly.
[.03] Keep your character profile short and sweet. We don't want super detailed profiles here: save that for your journal! We just want an idea of your Guardian and what to expect in interacting with others.
    * [.04] You can have more than one Guardian. We understand that you may have more than one character, or may want to write a new one to suit a certain Raevan. So we are allowing you to have maximum 2 different guardian characters. However, if you have more than one guardian character please put both profiles under separate spoiler tags. You cannot however, have both characters in the same ORP at the same time. And remember, it's more important to focus on the Raevan, not the Guardian.
[.05] Keep your Guardian normal. We had been quite lenient with this rule before, allowing all sorts of character races like pirates, dragon ladies, vampires etc, but no more. We need Guardians that can take care of a Raevan and not be more fantastical or important than said Raevan. Please keep your Guardian human or Gaia-race friendly (vampires, dark elves) only.
[.06] Your profile will be deleted if it breaks these rules. If your character does not comply with these rules, it will be deleted.
[.07] Your profile will be deleted if you edit it after approval. If staff approve your profile and you edit it after the fact and are caught, your profile will be deleted and you may be grey listed.
[.08] Your character's pets must be included in your character post. At least, if you want to use them in your RP frequently. These count as a secondary character, so choose this option wisely.
[.09] You can have one additional non-Guardian character. However, this character must be somehow related to your Guardian character on a long term basis. For example, siblings, significant other, best friend etc. You can use the provided form for the profile of this additional character, but please put this profile under spoiler tags. (To clarify: This rule applies only to Non-Owner applicants that wish to use this 'non-Guardian character' in RP. For Lab owners, feel free to have however many non-Guardians you want in your journal.)
[.10] You can only have either a non-Guardian character, or pets. Not both please!
[.11] Anything else that we didn't mention here, you have complete freedom to do. Just be sure to apply common sense.
[.12] We reserve the right to change these rules anytime we see fit.

[ Suggested Form ]

This is a guide for information and to keep your profile easy to read and to the point.

OLIVER

NAME : Oliver Kipling
GENDER : Male
AGE : 39
OCCUPATION : College Professor
RACE : Human; White
LIKES :

- Nature
- Coffee, tea
- Breakfast foods
- Photography
- Keeping himself well groomed
- Reading the latest mystery novel or memoir
- Going for long, aimless walks
- Seeing his students succeed and honestly try their best

DISLIKES :

- Cities, pollution, traffic
- His smoking addiction
- Champagne
- Pop culture
- Hot, humid days
- Students who constantly make excuses
- Running out of coffee
- Spilling something on his clothes

LOOKS :

Oliver has cream blonde hair which is curly and reaches his upper neck with fringe over his eyes. His eyes are teal and his skin is pale. He stands about 5'10" and weighs 150lbs. He is lean and healthy despite his smoking addiction, and even has some muscle due to his love of hiking.

Oliver wears comfortable, cotton fabrics, such as sweaters and plain slacks. He favors browns and creams, though he may wear a vibrant orange or light blue from time to time.

PERSONALITY :

Oliver has always been the calm, peaceful individual with a warm, friendly smile. He'll greet you like a friend and treat you like brother. A genuine soul occupies his body and a humble mind controls his movements. He'll help you off your feet and give you time to heal. You can almost always expect a cup of tea and cookies served with a good dose of TLC with Oliver around.

Although he is peaceful and warm most of the time, you'd best not push his buttons. If he feels he is being used, he'll confront you about it. If you have to break a promise, you'd better be prepared with a clear, honest reason why. Also, he's very stubborn about how he handles his smoking addiction. While the idea of using nicotine patches is growing on him, he'd sooner deal with withdrawal and cravings alone than wear a patch out in public. He finds patches embarrassing and awkward to look at, even if he knows they would help him kick his addiction faster.

Oliver is quiet and reserved without company. His home is filled with art and warm colors, but being alone takes the cheer out of him. He'll read a book, write a poem, or even watch the rain fall from outside his window if he's bored enough. He admits to being lonely, but denies any need for a romantic partner. All he needs, he says, is cup of tea and good friend to spend the day with.

HISTORY :

Oliver was born in Barton in a house close to a dense forest. His mother and father both worked as teachers in the local school system and instilled a love of learning in their children early on in their lives. He was the third born of four children and had an uneventful childhood. The usual arguments and sibling rivalries happened, but for the most part, Oliver's early life was a smooth ride.

Once Oliver had moved out of the house to pursue his dream of becoming an English professor, his life started to take a different turn. He was accepted to an expensive college where his roommates began to pressure him into smoking and drinking. Within a year, Oliver was addicted to cigarettes, constantly hung over, and was booted out of the college for his failing grades.

After failing university, Oliver went to community college and cleaned up his act. His love of teaching was rekindled and his motivations set back to full gear. He graduated with a stellar GPA and went on to teach at the very community college he graduated from. Since then, Oliver became all that he could ever want. He's a well liked and respected college professor, he lives close to nature trails, and most importantly, he feels that he has that sense of accomplishment he had worked so hard for.

NAME : Melanie Devereux
GENDER : Female
AGE : 28
OCCUPATION : Novelist and Blogger. Also receives a monthly check from investment in her father's business, DevX Enterprises.
RACE : Human - French and Romanian Descent
LIKES : Men | Creative Writing | Family & Friends | Love | Peace | Tolerance | Unity | Honesty | Confidence | Most Animals | Food -- of ALL kinds (especially seafood) | Water | Danger | Risks
DISLIKES : War | Right-Wing Conservatives | Hatred | Intolerance | Ignorance | Angry or Mean People | Rudeness | Spiders | Insects | Deserts or Dry Areas | Country or "Hick" Music

LOOKS : [ With Glasses | Without Glasses ]

With ivory skin, Melanie stands at 5'7" and weighs in at about 135lbs. She has naturally light auburn hair which she styles often and has hazel-amber eyes which she considers to be her best feature, despite needing glasses. She always tries to keep her posture upright to give off a confident aura. She keeps her makeup light and complementary to her features and her clothing choices are always fitting for her body type and involve a lot of earth tones.

PERSONALITY :Chaotic Good :: Mel has always been determined. Whenever she puts her mind to something, it gets done. The woman is a workaholic and she knows it; constantly writing stories and spending tons of time and energy pouring into them. Mel is, overall, a complete optimist and has infectious energy. She makes friends easily because she is charismatic and dependable. She is also an advocate for peace and equality and oftentimes expresses this through her writing. Growing up with the many elderly tutors instead of friends her own age, Mel has adapted a very wise perception on life. One of Melanie's more prominent flaws is her stubbornness. It is extremely hard for her to accept opposing opinions. She can be quite resolute about certain subjects and will fight for their cause. Her stubborn ways have actually caused some problems throughout her life such as: family drama, lost love, and even the loss of glowing career opportunities. Being spoiled as a child caused her to have expensive taste as an adult, which she is very outspoken about. She longs to settle down with a family of her own one day, making her quite the hopeless romantic. Where children are concerned, she takes a very nurturing role with them and isn't afraid to spoil them just as she was.

HISTORY : Melanie was born into a very well off family. Two doting parents and an older brother and sister. Melanie wanted for nothing and was given most anything she desired. Being the youngest, she was babied and spoiled throughout her childhood, causing strain between her and her sister, who scrutinized her on a regular basis. This disapproval just fueled Melanie's determination to succeed in life.

A rather sheltered child, Melanie was sent to private tutors. She hated the loneliness and lack of friends that ensued but Mel found writing to be an outlet for these emotions and used it to imagine many worlds of fantasy. Writing was her passion from a young age and she continued to perfect her craft as she grew.

At eighteen, she attended a small private college in Barton Town. It was there that Mel had obtained a degree in creative writing. She began by writing her own blogs which, because of her opinionated outlook, received mixed reviews. Mel wrote many short stories and tried to get published; but because of her blogs, it was extremely difficult for any company to accept it. So, to keep herself from experiencing negative backlash due to the popularity of her controversial blogs, she began writing under the pseudonym "Blake Bellerose". Now she's constantly looking for inspiration for her stories everywhere, finally moving to Durem from her family's hometown of Barton.

NAME : Winona 'Winny' Little
GENDER : Female
AGE : Twenty-Four
OCCUPATION : Clinical Social Worker for the Gambino Department of Social Services
RACE : Human
LIKES : Holistic Remedies, Volunteering, Swimming in the Ocean, Romanticizing Everything, Gardening, Universal Quandaries, Adventure, Poetry, Decorating, Cooking.
DISLIKES : Coffee, Misogyny, The Dark, Confrontations, Deadlines, Apathy, Competition, Repeating Herself and, to the contrary, Biting her Tongue.
LOOKS : Winny is mousy – every bit of her is small and slightly curved, from her tiny hands to her pidgeoned feet. Her face is freckled and round with high cheek bones and a beauty-marked chin. Hazel eyes, magnified by thick-rimmed glasses, peer optimistically beneath thick, black eyebrows and a blunt fringe. Plump, red-painted lips contrast her olive-toned skin and chestnut hair frames her face in long, thick waves. Although she appears innocent beneath her old-fashioned dresses and oversized sweaters, there is a confident sway in her step and she seems quite self-assured.

PERSONALITY : Neutral Good ► Winny considers herself a no-nonsense sort of girl, and in her line of work, why shouldn't she be? Observant, intelligent and not lacking in tact, she hides behind intricate layers of wit and always thinks before she speaks. On the surface she's easy-going and quick to laugh, but peel off that carefully crafted shell and you'll find a shy, surprisingly sensitive creature who has transformed years of melancholy into undiscriminating empathy. A byproduct of her softness, she feels a sense of responsibility toward the world's inhabitants and always roots for the underdog. Despite the personality she presents to the world, the past still haunts her in the form of bad dreams and insecurities. Winny often has to talk herself away from lingering thoughts that she's awkward, bossy and strange and regularly consults an impressive collection of self-help books. The pathological desire to busy her mind often has Winny working until she's exhausted. Despite her best efforts, she sometimes crumbles beneath the pressure and is prone to bouts of procrastination. Winny’s finely tuned intuition, thanks in part to her chaotic upbringing, has made her weary of others. Even the closest of friends are kept at arm’s length. She has a gift for reading people, whether it be the subtle changes in their tone or the thickness of the air when they enter the room and clings to her instincts with an unmatched stubbornness. Deep down, Winny's a sincere girl who wants to make the world a better place for lost things that remind her way too much of herself.

HISTORY : Winny grew up in a one-bedroom shack and spent most of her life squished between four older brothers and an under-appreciated mother. Neighborhood gossip suggested that Mr. Little left on a motorcycle before Winny was born and nobody had seen him since. A victim of Durem's working-class, Winny learned fairly young to look out for herself. Independence meant acknowledging the loneliness that often plagued fatherless children but she found solace in escapism – particularly, schoolwork. Visions of a life where kids like her had options encouraged her to follow in her mother's footsteps and she began waiting tables at the age of fifteen. She hated the sweaty uniform and the old men that stared through her clothes over their coffee cups, but they tipped in cash and she quickly became accustomed to the way the world worked. Money meant options and she couldn't turn up her nose at that. Winny left High School with a handful of cash and, not surprisingly, a few scholarships. A community college in Gambino seemed practical and the seaside scenery promised lots of bustling cafes to keep her afloat. Surviving on tips and half-priced food, Winny finished her four year program in Social Services and easily found an opening in the bustling port city. A comfy state salary keeps those student loans at bay and a humble two-bedroom apartment leaves her wanting for nothing.

NAME :
D'andre (Dee) Micheal Hallows

GENDER :
Male

AGE : 25yrs old

OCCUPATION : Librarian for small chain of local libraries.

RACE :
Human

LIKES : Cooking - A guilty pleasure and one he actually learned to keep...sociable. Everyone loves home made delicious food, and he can do it in the comfort of his home or others without feeling pressured to be interesting in something else. As he likes to keep himself healthy as well, cooking his own meals is a great way to regulate that!

Reading - Of course he would love reading! Any book, any place, any time! He loves his profession because it combines his favorite hobby and earning money into one!

Hiking / Outdoor rec. - There is a certain love for books, for the imaginary worlds it gives. Dee loves that, but just as he loves those worlds, he finds great beauty in taking hikes or swims in his own worlds special spots. Added to that, there is a great feeling of accomplishment when he successfully hikes to a spot that almost seems out of the way or manages to swim farther then he did before. It helps keep him from melting into boring librarian as well as feeding that slight vanity he has to look good.
.

DISLIKES : Drama - Dee doesn't find himself well with drama, and tends to veer out of confrontation like it was a plague. He is terrible at advice, tending to wonder why they don't just bluntly state their problems and work on compromising so instead of bothering with it...he gets out.

Crowds - Dee enjoys people, but does not enjoy the bustle and loudness of large city crowds. It tends to make him anxious and uncomfortable when he finds himself in one, and doesn't like that feeling settling in. To avoid such things, he will find alternate routes or stay home.

Loud noises - One unfortunate kid prank and a decade later, Dee hates loud sounds. Such as thunder, fireworks, shotguns. Sometimes raised voices or screaming can make him cringe a bit. Due to this, he's a bit more well...soft spoken.

LOOKS : Dee is a taller well built man, at 5'11 and 195lbs. Though he works at the library and spends a great amount of time there, he doesn't neglect a daily routine workout as well as enjoying physical activities outside. At home, he dresses casually in basketball shorts, tank tops, or if winter is around, sweatshirts.

On the job, he dresses in a finely pressed suit like attire. Black slacks, a white button up shirt (tucked in of course) with black tie and large black framed glasses. Occasionally, you can catch him with contacts in but it draws attention to him as he doesn't have the glasses to hide his eyes which usually attract certain people to him.

Dee is very blessed with a beautiful Caucasian mother and African American father, that he inherited his dark skin from, as well as piercing ice blue eyes. His hair is usually a short buzz cut, as when he grew it out, it was a tangled curly mess afro. Not something he enjoys.

PERSONALITY : Dee would like to think of himself as a well balanced social and anitsocial creature. He finds joys in cooking, and offering his home to welcome friends and family and friends of family to join him, or going out to the bar for drinks and music. But also enjoys the quiet time of the library, stacking books and organizing them or a solitary walk in nature.

Dee thinks of himself as very mild temper, laid back as well as a little stubborn and dreamy. Sometimes, he might even come off a bit shy or standoffish...and a little vain. The first two would, as he says, are his positive points while the last two are his most frustrating/troubling traits.

HISTORY :Dee grew up a normal suburban life. His father was a baseball coach for the high school and his mother was a receptionist at a corporate firm that specialized in clothing products. They had good means, and his mother was a stickler for fiances that allowed him a stable and very well taken care of childhood. (as well as inheriting that awesome budgeting skills) He went to public elementary schools, then to local middle school before transferring in his freshman year to a private high school. During his time there, he fell in love with the library, pouring into books where he could and when he could.

He would volunteer for the school's library quite often, balancing it with his usual winter sports of basketball and tennis. He never really furthered himself with either sports, they were enjoyable but not where his heart laid.

When he got close to graduating, he asked his parents to attend college for his ALA – accredited master’s degree in library and information science. Of course they agreed and he went to college. After 5 years of school, Dee graduated with the degree and found a quiet library to immerse himself in. He now lives alone in a nice apartment.

NAME : Raspberry “Raz” Piper.
GENDER : Female.
AGE : 34.
OCCUPATION : A clerk in a music store located in Barton Town, and is one of the guitar tutors at the establishment.
RACE : Human - Chinese/European.
LIKES :
Music, singing, dancing, eye candy (both genders), dark chocolate, heartbeats, being active, sunny weather, and hanging out with people in general.

DISLIKES :
Being looked down on, silverfish, rotten flowers, being nagged at, being immobile for long periods of time, seagulls (RATS WITH WINGS), fruit punch (DON’T DRINK THE KOOL-AID), rainy autumn days, and Jalapeno peppers.

LOOKS :
By the look of her hot pink hair, and the horribly sly grin on her face, you wouldn’t think Raz is anywhere near innocent. Standing at 5’9, Raz spots a muscular build from the regular routine of going boxing. Her skin isn’t fair, a little tanned and occasional scars from past conflicts run across her arms. Thankfully, those days have long past, and all the more recent injuries are kitchen related. Her usual outfits consist of a variety of form hugging clothes, and heels. There’s always a jacket on her be it thin or thick depending on the temperature.

PERSONALITY :
One look at Raz, and immediately you can see she’s a blaze. Confident, loud, and flirty, Raz stands tall and proud of what she is and isn’t afraid to shout it. The feeling of intimidation she radiates at first glance is only a reflexive posture from her past, and means no harm. She’s actually really relaxed and a lovely person to be around, charming in her rough around the edge ways, and a lover of good company. She’s a good and loyal friend to have, protective of those close to her. It’s rare for her to be hesitant but when uncertain, Raz has been known to be moody and turn tunnel vision. She is firm in her beliefs, but if the argument is sound she will change her opinion. She has learned to talk over arguments and issues, instead of resorting to aggressive behavior. Yet, there are still occasions where her fiery temper gets the best of her as she's not about to take any s**t from anyone, especially if they're being an a**. Raz might not seem it, but she does have patience – mainly with children and adolescents. She’s less explosive, and has a more playful demeanor. If they need her, she is there to help with emotional issues and always willing to listen. Most of her customers find her friendly, and barely a handful had complained of her rolling her eyes at their redundant questions, but her service record has been good.

HISTORY :
Born to Cyril and Aude Piper, Raz was given the name “Raspberry” because of Aude’s fondness of them during pregnancy. Sadly, Aude passed away when Raz was 3 in a traffic accident which forced Cyril to be a single parent. He tried his best, yet Cyril never saw the problems Raz had to face at school. She was being bullied for being a tomboy, called names and eventually forced into peer isolation. Raz concluded that she must fight back (literally), which became an issue as she had started getting suspended for fighting on multiple occasions. She was nearly kicked out of school when her father finally asked where he went wrong. Raz never realized she was putting stress on her father as the man had never broken down in front of her, and seeing him like this scared her. She never wanted to hurt him, so she stopped. The aggression didn’t leave, but the two found her a new method to release it – Music. Her first guitar was given to her by Cyril, and he taught her how to play. From there, her love of music grew. Now she's working in a music store, living comfortably on her own in a two-bedroom apartment, and her relationship with her father remains as close as ever. Recently, she has been a little irritated as her father been asking about her love life, and whether he'll have grandchildren in the near future.

NAME : John Malcolm
GENDER : Male
AGE : 26
OCCUPATION : Professional wilderness and fishing/hunting guide
RACE : Human (Native American/Caucasian)
LIKES : scrimshaw/carving, hunting, fishing, camping, baking, sour patch kids, lemon curd, sweets
DISLIKES : wastefulness, having too much free time on his hands, extremely busy/large parties, being stuck indoors too often, the time it takes to smoke salmon, having to eat his vegetables
LOOKS : John stands tall at 6"3" with an athletic body, but tends to slouch when he is around people he is unfamiliar with. He has hazel eyes and keeps his black hair short. When not out in the field, he is most comfortable in faded t-shirts and baggy jeans with old sneakers. His hands are strong with some callouses from hours spent hunting and fishing.

PERSONALITY : John is an extremely curious individual that prefers to have a small circle of friends whom he trusts as opposed to spending loads of time in large groups partying it up with people he hardly knows. In the field, John is extremely observant and very light on his feet, but in social settings he sometimes misses the more obvious clues laid out for him and has been called a clumsy oaf a time or two. His mother used to joke he'd lose his head if it wasn't attached to him. John is quiet, reserved and patient the majority of the time. Few have seen him angry, but once they have its not something their liable to forget any time soon.

HISTORY : John was raised Catholic, but is not Orthodox by any means. He was raised in a loving environment with the majority of his extended family nearby to participate in his childhood. One of his favorite places was a well hidden fishing hole that few people knew of and he spent a lot of time out there on his own, learning to navigate the wilderness on his own. His grandfather taught him about carving and the best way to entice fish to bite the hook even without bait, while his grandmother taught him the joys of harvesting his own food and how to preserve it so that little would go to waste. His parents ensured he got a decent education, though he was never a straight A student and he grew up aiding his parents in raising his younger siblings.

----[Congrats on the Raevan!]----

NAME : Yves Mathieu Lecuyer
GENDER : Male
AGE : 26
OCCUPATION : Yves owns a small grooming parlor not terribly far from his home; located near the more bustling center of Durem, The Pet Parlor is quaint but well-maintained, providing grooming options for various animals.
RACE : Human
LIKES : Art, wildlife, exploring the outdoors, rainy days, a good book, coffee, tea, philanthropy, cute things.
DISLIKES : Pushy people, the kinds of stains that never come out, political debates, public transportation, bullies, animal cruelty, rude/crass behavior, laziness, sleeping in.
LOOKS : Small and willowy, Yves walks with surprising presence for his youthful features and stature. Wide, honey brown eyes are often set into a scowl and are accompanied by thick, dark eyebrows that lend to a somewhat comical look. Sandy hair whips across his forehead in a side-swept cut, the rest tidy and combed back into a gentle curl at the nape of his neck. His attire consists of nice shirts and jeans, largely casual but he still takes care to appear professional when needed.Frequent walks around town gives him a sun-kissed appearance, but he always burns before he tans.

PERSONALITY : Yves gives off a strong, paternal vibe. A zealous, empathetic fellow who listens to your problems, he is a go-getter and believes that everyone should follow their dreams. He is compassionate, but stern, and wants to be there for people who can't stand up for themselves. Although he is well-meaning, there are times that he seems curt or rude, because he may lose patience with people. Snobbish folks or those who refuse to lift a finger to try tend to ebb away at his patience, and his hopeful attitude fades. He will lose interest. Because Yves is straight-forward and honest, he comes off as bristly.

Yves grew up believing that anything could be done if you worked hard enough, so people who think otherwise just don't cut the mustard. He tries to combat this with helpful words and actions, but he won't do everything for them. Confidence is not something he lacks, and he tries to instill that in others the best he can. Despite this, he denies his own need for help, as if vigorous work and philanthropy will help him avoid his own emotional needs.

He had a hard time making friends because he prioritized work and his family above other things. Classmates would come over to play, but could never stay long as chores had to be done. As he grew older and independent, Yves began to branch out and socialize, forgetting how much he loved simply hearing others talk.

HISTORY : Yves grew up of a lower middle-class, in Durem. They got by, but he was often envious of other children's toys and new clothes. Yves and his sister, Idette, were no strangers to cleaning, organizing, cooking - whatever they were needed for. Yves found purpose in being helpful.

Every summer, the siblings would go see their grandparents. Owning Lecuyer Instrumental made them wealthy, but Yves' parents would refuse their money at every turn. They insisted on making their own way without relying on charity.

Eventually, Idette chose to stay with her grandparents. Yves remained at home and took a job as soon as he could, but missed his sibling. When he moved out he remained close to his family, but began to branch out for himself, as well. Friends hosted parties, he met women. Even though dating had yet to work out, Yves opted for a couple pets; first, a cat, then a dog so the cat wouldn't be lonely. They bonded, despite their differences.

One day Yves saw an ad posted on a pole: adoption. He scrutinized it; it was different, not like normal adoption. Not an animal nor a human, but something in-between. It intrigued him and he thought about it every day. He loved caring for things, and felt that something truly was missing in his life. If not a sibling, or a lover, perhaps a child?

One day, Yves bit the bullet and turned his application in. It was not a decision he made lightly.

PETS : Bubs, a large, fat Siamese cat, and Peanut, a young and wily chihuahua/terrier mix. The two are begrudgingly friendly toward one another, and will play fight in the back yard.

User ImageNAME : Callus Nathaniel Killmister
GENDER : Male
AGE : Thirty-Two
OCCUPATION : Freelance Make-up Artist. (Ex-Bounder)
RACE : Human.
LIKES : Zombies. Horror. Makeup. Art. Fishing. Novels. Taxidermy.
DISLIKES : Neria's Cooking (also her magazines, shampoo's and all the other girly crap she has littered his boat with).

LOOKS : Callus is a tall man, standing at a staggering six foot and three inches. He is broad shouldered and his muscles are well defined thanks to his many years serving in the private security sector. Admittedly age and sudden change in lifestyle has eaten away at his physique and even though he is out of his prime he still looks large enough to intimidate men much younger and fitter than he is. In his youth he had raven black hair which reached down to his hips but Callus now keeps it trimmed to his shoulders, a canter parting framing his rather masculine face. His jaw is square, his nose angular and his eyes surprisingly soft bringing contrast to his otherwise roughish appearance; they are a very light blue often mistaken for grey, framed by bushy eyebrows and always underlined with dark circles because of his odd sleeping habits. A few wrinkles have appeared over the years, but despite this he is often presumed to be younger than he is, an act he does not usually correct. His beard fluxgates, it is never shorter than light stubble, or longer than a couple of inches depending on his mood. He has gained some battle scars over the years and his skin has not remained untainted by the many brawls he has been a part of; he always has a bruise or a cut somewhere. However scars are not the only things decorating his skin, it is impossible to grow up in Durem without gaining a few piercings and tattoos and Callus is no exception to this rule.

PERSONALITY : As a teenager he was rebellious and somewhat aggressive, always prone to getting into fights. Despite this he sees his troublesome younger years as the foundations that shaped him today. Now he is an older man he has all but abandoned his younger social circles, becoming near a recluse after a bike accident that almost ended his life. The anger that drove him for so long was lost along with most of the passion he had in him, days past and he remained the same. This lonesome period made him do some serious soul searching and he was only really brought out of his depression by his niece. Callus no longer looks at the world with the same melancholic attitude he once did – He is now better, never the less he minds his own business. His neighbours describe him as a kind man, the kind of person who you would borrow milk from, a man you would chat with when you cross paths, but never really get to know on a more personal level. His friends on the other hand would describe him as cocky, darkly humoured and rather laid back. Callus is the kind of person who is competitive with the people whose opinions he cares about, often mocking them with light hearted insults, usually followed by a friendly punch in the arm. Despite his rough appearance he would not harm a fly and would certainly not go out of his way to make life difficult for others. He can be described as stuck in his ways, taking a very ‘been there, done that’ outlook on life, which some people find infuriating. He will never judge anyone for their mistakes, but will happily share his experiences and give out friendly advise.

HISTORY : He never had the best grades in school and he was never particularly handsome. The arguments at home started when he was about ten, and soon after cracks started to appear in his parents’ marriage. To escape the backlash he started to spend as little time at home as possible. He was a troublesome teenager, hanging around on street corners and making friends with questionable people. Callus was never scared to get into a fight and often took the frustration he felt about his fragile home-life out on other people. He dropped out of high school and he drunk away his youth; hanging around in bars, dabbling with mild narcotics and chasing skirt. He went from dead end job to dead end job, until he landed a contract with a security firm. He used to work on the doors at Metal Bars and Strip Clubs. It was a young person’s life-style that ended the day of his bike accident. Callus, only just in his twenties, received an injury that would change his life, even though he was lucky to survive the wreck, he was left paralysed for quite some time. He went through his rehab blaming his own stupidity for his injury. When he was twenty-six his niece, Neria, moved in with him. At first he was reluctant, but she refused to give up on him. Neria talked him into starting a painting class as a way to meet some new friends. His love for alternative fashion and all things zombies became apparent as his pictures often took on a grotesque nature. This quickly escalated in him creating his own fake wounds and FX make-ups. He went back to finish high-school, applied to an art school and took a two year course in the art of film make-up, graduating, for once, at the top of his class.

Please see his full profile for a more in depth look at his character and information on Neria.

NAME : Ian Taylor Flynn.
GENDER : Male.
AGE : Thirty-one.
OCCUPATION : Self-employed florist. His shop, Thistle Do Nicely, is small but is luckily located on a very well-traveled street in downtown Barton.
RACE : Human - Irish descent.
LIKES : Design, color, flowers, music, animals, reading, and sleeping in late.
DISLIKES : Crowds, severe weather, bad smells, disorder, being the center of attention, and complete darkness and/or silence.
LOOKS : Ian is wiry in build, standing at around 5'10" with broad shoulders and long limbs. His skin is fair with a light sprinkle of freckles across his cheeks and shoulders. He spends time outside when he can, but can't seem to tan unless he’s burned. His caramel brown hair is often boyishly messy, and has a red hue when in direct sunlight. Ian's eyes are a light hazel color that leans more toward green than gold. Usually, he can be found smiling. He is, unfortunately, extremely near-sighted. Though he owns both contact lenses and glasses, he much prefers to wear contacts when out of the house.

PERSONALITY : Ian's feelings dictate almost everything he does. Their accuracy varies, but he trusts them as a doctor would his instruments. Because of this, Ian is heavily influenced by and aware of things around him. For example, he is often quick to pick up on tensions between others and becomes anxious.

Ian is an artist at heart, sensitive and friendly and highly in tune with his world. Underneath that friendly exterior, Ian is a very emotional person, but can be difficult to get to know because of social anxieties. He is pleasant and personable when conducting business, and he enjoys being around others, but you'll have to work if you want to get closer. However, it is easy to see that Ian is kind and gentle. He is a loyal friend, and won't hesitate to help when he feels he is needed. He is more likely to wait until approached, but if the situation is serious he has no problems being proactive.

He also has a strong set of moral values, but they may not always be in accordance with society's rules. He trusts his gut intensely, and will often have a hard time going against it. Ian's goals are more centered on personal fulfillment than material accomplishments; his main reason for opening his shop was to be able to do what he wanted for a living his own way. That's not to say Ian isn't concerned with money, it's just not his main motivation.

HISTORY : Ian grew up with his parents and sister in the suburbs of Barton with two dogs and two cats. His parents bought a modest two-story home and Ian was born shortly afterward. He was cherished and loved, nearly spoiled, but soon was taught to work for what he wanted. He drew on everything, and enjoyed playing outside. He especially loved helping his mother with the garden, with all the different flowers. His younger sister Caroline came along when Ian was seven, but she proved to be much more serious than her older brother and preferred reading over horseplay. Ian was confused at first, having been the center of his parents' attention for so long, but grew to care deeply for Caroline.

In college, he majored in botany and business, determined to become a florist after years of entertaining his love of plants. He was fascinated by the beauty of flowers and the reactions they provoked in others. He got through school with a decent GPA and a low amount of debt, thanks to hard work on scholarships. After a few years of working various jobs, he now owns a small flower shop underneath a two-bedroom apartment in downtown Barton. Ian has started to notice a lack of companionship in his life, but romantic relationships are difficult. After providing flowers for a Lab party, Ian has taken an interest in Raevans; he believes he can provide a stable and supportive home, and single-parent adoption is rare.

NAME : Aindreas "Drey" Byrne
GENDER : Male
AGE : 34
OCCUPATION : Police detective
RACE : Human; Irish, mostly.
LIKES : A rewarding day at work, showers (whether hot or cold), the good kinds of coffee, being active.
DISLIKES : Bad coffee, a day where he goes home feeling like he managed to accomplish nothing, otherwise wasting time, sleeping in.
LOOKS : Aindreas is a tall man, at about 6'2. He isn't exactly built or overly muscled, though he's got a sort of lean and sinous muscle from years on the police force. He has dark red hair that looks brown in most lights, along with green/hazel eyes. He rarely grows a beard due to not liking the way it looks on him; he feels that his jaw line doesn't stand out enough. His usual attire is a button down shirt (occasionally with an atrocious pattern), slacks or jeans, and loafers, a wardrobe he picked up from years on the job.

PERSONALITY : Aindreas tends to be a fairly warm guy; he always has something good to say about others and tries his best not to be a downer no matter what he happened to see at work that day. However, as is common in long time cops, Drey frequently battles darkness in his heart. He's seen how disgusting the world can be and what depths people will go to, and he'd be a liar if he said it didn't kill a part of him or if he said sometimes it still doesn't surprise him to see such depravity. Having no one at home to console him, Aindreas sometimes goes through periods of depression, though he doesn't let anyone see this.

As said, Aindreas is fairly friendly - because of this, he tries to hide his darkness for others and will disguise a frown or downer comment with a smile or a joke and is incapable of admitting that sometimes he needs help, especially because he fears forced leave from work.

Though Drey tends to be very laid back, his cop-mode can be switched as necessary and he will exert as much force as necessary to control the situation.

In his free time, he tries to take advantage of every moment, wanting to live life to the fullest. He hates wasting time and being inactive, so most of his hobbies outside of work involve playing sports. He's particularly fond of and good at tennis, though he feels that doesn't sound very manly.

HISTORY : Aindreas' family is average, his mother and father together, along with his fraternal twin brother Eirnin. Like most little boys, Drey had the desire to be a superhero or a police officer (whichever came first), wanting to be famous... and to protect people, though the latter was probably less important than the former. He was fairly intelligent (though Eirnin was smarter) and was capable of dedicating himself to his schoolwork, which led to him being accepted to college fairly easily and with a fair amount of money in scholarships. However, unlike most boys who aspire to be a policeman, Drey truly went for it. His degree in college was for criminal justice and he spent his college years working with police and fire departments, wanting the experience it gave.

When he graduated, he found a job in the police department fairly easily due to the qualities and relationships he'd established and spent several years working his a** off in order to save up money to afford an average sized apartment on his own - and this hard work, though it was meant to save money, ended up getting him promoted to detective much faster than he might have otherwise, a position he's lingered in for years.

He lives alone, still, with no significant other. Aindreas is frequently alone, though he and Eirnin are still close and see each other as frequently as their professions will allow. However, because he's alone, his apartment is frequently in a state of utter disarray.

NAME : Alexis “Phoenix” Argyris
GENDER : Male
AGE : Thirty-two
OCCUPATION : Owner of 'Ambrosia', family restaurant in Durem.
RACE : Human; Greek
LIKES : Phsyical and emotional contact with others, hair product, playing games with his daughter, leafy greens, and small animals.
DISLIKES : When Zoe gets a booboo, horror movies, fast food, flaky employees, and being unable to satisfy customers.
LOOKS : Standing just shy of six feet and weighing 160lbs, Phoenix takes pride in his appearance. He boasts his minimal body fat to his friends, and always dresses sharp – usually slacks and dress shoes with a button-up shirt. Even when he's being “lazy” he only downgrades the top to a muscle shirt. He keeps his natural, almost silvery white hair neatly combed back into a low ponytail that hangs just past his shoulder blades, and he has joyful golden eyes set into dark tan toned skin. His black facial hair he keeps neatly trimmed to keep up his respectable appearance while still having a delightful amount of scruff.

PERSONALITY : Phoenix is happy all the time; he's social and charismatic. If it weren't for his bad pickup lines and going completely over the top with sweetness, he'd have no problem finding a girl. He thinks he's smooth, but it's as if he learned all of his moves from a bad 80's film. Alas, his daughter and his restaurant are his life. Not to say he doesn't try anymore, but he puts considerably less effort into developing a romantic life. He's driven, always improving on his restaurant, and busting butt to make sure everything is always done right and fast. The sooner he gets home to see Zoe the better, but he's not the type to leave early just because he's the boss. And if he is late, the babysitter lives conveniently on their floor. He's very family oriented. Every Sunday night he and Zoe visit his parents and brother for a home cooked meal. On work days he still cooks most nights and watches movies with his daughter, and on days off they often go to the park or zoo. Alone time doesn't appeal to Phoenix at all. He's a bleeding heart when it comes to his daughter. When she's hurt or sick, no matter how tough she is about it, he'll cry and worry incessantly. He dislikes anything gruesome or gorey, hence his aversion to horror movies. He'd rather something funny or theatrical.

HISTORY : Shortly after his family immigrated to Gaia, Phoenix was born to the Argyris family. They used their life savings to renovate a vacant building into a traditional Greek restaurant, 'Ambrosia'. Their life was comfortable, but always busy, and both sons learned to help at Ambrosia from a young age. The obvious choice for who to take over the restaurant when their parents got too old was Katsaros, the eldest. However Kat pursued a career in architecture, leaving Ambrosia to Phoenix. He was grateful.

He met Adriana, a hostess at Ambrosia, when she was hired shortly after his promotion to manager. His full ownership of the restaurant came after the birth of their daughter, Zoe, but Adriana had as much intent to stay with the family as she did the restaurant. She was too young to devote herself to that lifestyle, and left before Zoe turned two.

Zoe was five, and smarter, than she should have been, when she started asking for a sibling. Phoenix was nearing thirty-two. Originally he bought Zoe a pitbull puppy, Dionysus (Dio for short -- he will only be ), hoping that would satisfy her request. It didn't. Fortunately they live comfortably in an upscale apartment in Durem, close to the restaurant. He had an excellent source of income, business was booming, and he seemed to have a fair chance with adoption. It was Zoe who first heard of the Lab from a classmate. She made up her mind on the spot, and Phoenix wants to oblige.

NAME : Zoe Melina Argyris (frequently "honey/honey boo/honey bear/etc." from middle name)
GENDER : Female
AGE : Six
OCCUPATION : None; Student
RACE : Human; Greek
LIKES : Fish and reptiles, American Girl dolls, peanut butter and jelly, educational television, and getting to visit her dad at work.
DISLIKES : Nightmares, sticky messes, noisy kids, Phoenix's "bad 80's music", and cockroaches.
LOOKS : The spitting image of her father, Zoe was born with equally snow white hair that curls magnificently, which she likes to keep tied up in two corkscrew pigtails. She has long bangs which brush the lids of her eyes, which are large and golden (from whence her middle name meaning 'honey' originates) against her tan skin. She has a love for cute clothes, particularly with lace, and mary janes. She has a small build, a bit short for her age.

PERSONALITY : Zoe is (unfortunately) one of those children that you can't sneak anything past. She's smart, so if you try to pull the wool over her eyes she will immediately call you out on it. She's an intuitive child, and is not easily put off by strangers unless she feels something is wrong with them. If she thinks someone is okay, she is the furthest thing from shy. She's quite outspoken for a little girl, and always makes sure her opinion is heard. She understands a surprising amount for her age, which often leads to her dad forgetting he's talking to a kid. While she might hate the sound of her dad's music, she absolutely loves when he listens to it because they will dance and have fun for hours, so she's okay with it. Zoe also has the tendency to take her dreams very seriously. A bad one can mess her up for the entire day, and she always thinks good ones means something nice is going to happen.

HISTORY : Zoe does not remember her mother. She's seen pictures, but no one spoke much of her. Beyond her initial curiosity when she was old enough to understand that she should have a mother but did not, Zoe never cared to ask much about her. Since her dad (and extended family, of course) was all she had, that's all she cared about and just having him was always good enough for her.

Due to her no-nonsense attitude, Zoe immediately had a hard time making friends when she started school. It was then that she started voicing to Phoenix just how badly she wanted a little brother or sister. That way she could have someone to bond with, and teach to be more like her instead of loud, rambunctious and silly like the kids at school. She was happy to get her puppy Dionysus (while her dad calls him Dio -- she has no idea why -- she calls him Dino), but it wasn't enough for her. She's been bugging Phoenix incessantly about the Lab ever since her classmate mentioned it.

NAME : Aspen Walker
GENDER : Male
AGE : 29
OCCUPATION : Florist
RACE : Dryad-Human
LIKES : nature, animals, astronomy, aesthetics, apple pie, cooking
DISLIKES : smoke, fire, machinery/technology, loud noises, crowds
LOOKS : Often outside, tall and lean Aspen has kept his skin tanned, though his blond hair remains pale as ever. His hair doesn’t quite brush his shoulders and is slicked back, but over the day strands often slip out. He has a rather youthful face and deep green eyes. He tries to stay clean with his dress shirts and coats, but they’re often untucked or slightly crinkled.

PERSONALITY : Despite living as an independent adult, Aspen often causes people to worry. Having lived in the woods most of his life, he has a very my-pace work ethic and can be spacey, his thoughts drifting from one place to another while completely ignoring the task at hand. His earnest and hardworking personality helps him to finish whatever business he has, so he manages to properly care for himself.

Aspen is noticeably more shy and clumsy when in a large group, but when he’s with a select few his true personality shines through. He speaks somewhat timidly and quietly, but always sincerely. He is a naïve optimist who believes in the best in everyone, and doles out forgiveness like it costs nothing at all. Aspen’s unending pacifism and kindness makes it easy to pull him into ridiculous chores or infinite tasks, but he never appears to mind.

HISTORY : He was born and raised in a small cottage that was well-secluded from Barton Town. His parents preferred to live a simple, solitary life. As such, Aspen rarely met other people. Instead, he learned mostly about nature and whatever else lay in his family’s modest collection of books. Being a teacher, his mother taught him enough in case he decided to live outside their cottage. Possessing the same pacifist, content nature as his parents, he didn’t mind being isolated from the world, though he often wondered what it would be like to travel. Even traveling to Barton Town would have sufficed.

It turns out he didn’t have to leave. One day, a girl named Annabelle stumbled upon their cottage while their parents were out, and she continued to visit Aspen every day. They grew closer; Annabelle convincing Aspen to temporarily follow her to Barton Town. It took a week before his parents found and dragged the young Aspen back to their cottage.

But after Annabelle, he was determined to travel. When he turned 22, he decided to leave, visiting the other towns and broadening his horizons while Annabelle had opted to stay home a little longer. At 26, a devastated Aspen returned to Barton Town and found Annabelle had passed away, leaving behind a daughter named Lily with her elder sister. Aspen and Lily remain separated, but they interact frequently. She often visits Aspen while he works at a local flower shop run by an old family friend.
