- The Goal: Provide new players and new hunters with all the basic information required to RP in/survive in Deus, in a concise format that is in-character, with a heavy focus on basic survival and safety information. Information is the best defense.
What it is, ICly: A seminar held on a regular basis for new depods, conducted peer-to-peer by Hunters rather than leads and assists.
What it is, OOCly: Tentatively, a single ORP for a "cold open" test seminar which will be attended by new recruits, as well as established hunters who will be charged with providing feedback, suggesting changes, and in some cases presenting material. Later, the feedback that is gained from this thread both IC and OOC will be used to create a single, overarching, succinct IC information thread for all new recruits. This thread will encompass both the printed materials distributed to the new depods (which may also become a standard part of depod procedure) and also a shorter, Clifnotes version of the actual seminar contents, so that your new hunter can jump in equipped with need-to-know information (as can you!).
Who's Involved: Obadiah "Taym" Thompson (Moon hunter), Camille "Cami" Ryland (Sun intermediate), and MAYBE YOU! Please.
What We Need
- Demos and Lectures
NO WAIT! DON'T GO. That's a sort of misleading title for what's basically a few words and a few minutes of your time!
We need hunters (and established intermediates, tentatively) from all divisions to present information, AND we need behind-the-scenes help compiling that information. OOC commitment from you is a very short bulleted list covering basic need-to-know information on the topics outlined below (sample provided). We will be compiling several versions of these lists, curating them, trimming them, and arranging them into a final collaborative form.
IC commitment is a little heavier, if you volunteer: it will be assumed that your character is volunteering to occasionally provide this information in the form of short, ten-to-fifteen minute lectures about once a month to new recruits. This position can and likely will be cycled, so it's possible that your character will only be called on once every couple of months. This will all be hammered out later. None of this will require active participation from you besides possibly a one-time blurb about your character (a sentence or two) so don't sweat it!
Topics we need information on, with division hunter requested (SOME may be combined/condensed/eliminated):
- The basics - Absolute bottom of the barrel need to know to not die warnings, such as brief overview of divisions, discussion of dream states and alternate universes, teamwork, friendly fire, etc. (Moon)
Enemy information - basic profiles of Amity and Horsemen enemies (Sun)
BASIC weapon offense information - extremely simple discussions of charges, fighting styles, and practice and training regimens (Sun)
FEAR shield - BASIC information on shields, healing, wards (Moon, maybe Life)
Runic tech and science terrors - General guidelines for safely handling runic tech, and also touch on things like animals on the island, pregnancy, etc. (Life)
Island geography - Discussion of safe and unsafe areas, general locations (infirmary, library, towns, basement, training courses) (Moon or Mist)
Confidentiality - Discussion of what is and is not public information, safe leave practices, civilian interaction (Death)
Current events - At the moment, discussion of O/Horsemen activity, major projects being taken on, etc. (Moon, Mist, Death)
All of the above will also be covered in hardcopy pamphlets and booklets distributed at the seminar, but briefly. The presentations are to expand on the topics and to field questions.
Sample Lists
Island Geography
- Basic campus includes dorm buildings, infirmary, library
The beach is helladangerous
Towns is undergoing reconstruction
School is undergoing reconstruction/Gym is area for public meetings
This would be a link to the training course thread, as these would be on a Deus map
Current Events
- Ourobouros is a traitor splinter cell known to be engaged in civilian affairs and are extremely dangerous, please be on the lookout for suspicious behavior
A recent large mission suggests huge upheaval in Horseman affairs and a shift in Horsemen authority
If you'd like to submit a character for this, please fill out the form below and post it. We will sort through and pick some volunteers.
