Rekaiyin was indeed trying to leap over his mom, but she moved out of the way at the last moment, clever mama. He landed lightly and demanded, "What did you do that for?!"

Onyxa stared him down and he cowed a little bit but not by much, not his fault she had an awesome glare on her. He just grinned back.

"I wouldn't want to mar either of our coats dear."

"I wouldn't have marred them mother, I would have leaped over you."

Ceinwen had been enjoying her father's presence as the scene unfolded. Her gaze taking in everything. Grinning as her father scolds Rekai she can't help feeling a little pleased. After all he was a little mean to her yesterday. Well.. maybe not mean but that doesn't mean she wanted to be a jumping hurdle when she was just laying down trying to snag a nap! Her brother has so much energy. Yet he is also very fun.

Trotting over to her mother she nuzzles her side as she isn't tall enough to reach anywhere else."Mama? How does bonding with a familiar work? You have Talrun and daddy has Rin.How did you know Talrun and you were meant to be bonded?" Red eyes look up at her mother. Her mothers fangs have always interested her. She hopes that maybe she herself will grow fangs. Oh how fun that would be! " I'm just curious that's all mama."

Ceinwen listens and tilts her head. So a familiar and bonded have to get along.. Then if that is the case.. Why does dad and Rin always tease and bicker? Rin calls dad a big lump. Wouldn't that suggest he doesn't like him? Thinking on how to ask such a question she relishes in the attention her mother gives her. Looking up at her mother she hopes one day to be as tall as her."That sounds wonderful mama. But... if that's the case.. How are Dad and Rin bonded? They always bicker and make fun of each other.. And Rin calls daddy a big lump! That doesn't really sound as if they click personality wise.."

Rekaiyin grinned at his sister, "Thank you Thaly!" He called and raced off in a sprint around the clearing. Onyxa watched him, amused. Where he got his energy she would never figure out, perhaps a half vampire side effect?

Rekai skidded back to a halt, spraying dirt, thankfully not at anyone.

Onyxa looked down at her daughter, "Well your father and Rin are just teasing, they really do love each other very much. Its all in good fun. Thats just the way they are." Who knew that children had so many questions, she was hoping that she was answering them properly.

"Hmm," Onyxa pondered. "I knew I loved him the first time he was in real danger, I put myself between him and the threat and that is love. Protecting those who can't protect themselves as well as you can protect them and choosing to risk yourself in their place as I did with your father. He protects and cherishes me at all other times."

"It was a vampire my sweet, an evil, malicious vampire who wanted nothing more then to eat your father, of course I couldn't let that happen since well you know.." she scuffed a hoof, "I loved him."

She looked at Caderyn and winked at him.

Rekaiyin meanwhile zoomed off into the bush for a bit reappearing a bit later ripping burrs out of his coat. Onyxa surpressed a smile.

"Decidedly the bush." Rekaiyin replied succinctly. "I see Mom is trying to hide her snicker." He gazed at Onyxa who widened her eyes and looked away innocently. "She fools me about as much as Dad fools her."

Rekai nuzzled his sister then turned and spat out another one of his little prickly hitchhikers. Gah Burrs!


Meanwhile Onyxa, having been caught by her son sidles over to her mate to brush up against him, "Glad you are not covered in burrs my love."
