Players interested in seeing if their characters have seer/shaman potential should post the following form in this thread. Make sure you have read here.
Who can be rolled:
- Your own characters. You may not post for anyone else's character or unhomed characters, including litter puppies.
- All animals within the shop. If it exists and has lines, it can become a shaman or seer. Note only wolves have shaman/seer specific lines, though.
- Characters of any age may be posted, but animals cannot become fully-fledged seers/shamans until adulthood (their powers will be unstable and infrequent, no matter how much of a prodigy they are).On the 5th of every month (or around it, we're only human), every character posted in this thread will be rolled to see if they've been "gifted" power from the tree.
Each wolf has a 1 in 20 chance of being gifted. We'll roll a 20-sided dice. 20 means your wolf has seer / shaman potential. By choosing "either", another randomized number will determine seer or shaman attributes.
Once they've been rolled, their name will be crossed out. They may never be posted again after this.
At the end of each rolling session, those with seer/shaman potential will be posted and their owners quoted. All characters posted after this point will have to wait until the next month's rolling session to be rolled.
REMINDER: Aside from certain circumstances (winning contests/auctions, meta events, staff, etc.), each player can only win / quest for one seer or shaman per year. However, potential does not expire. If two of your wolves roll, you can pick one to quest for this year and quest for the other next year.
If my character doesn't roll here, can they become a seer or shaman through the Disciplined route?
Yes, provided they meet the requirements (including having the appropriate personalities). In this case, please follow the Disciplined rules / lore.
Can I roll my wolf (or other animal) for the sake of plot if I don't plan to actually pursue seer / shaman rank for them?
In short: Absolutely. Not all wolves will answer the (usually very faint) call of the Tree. Many won't know what it is they're facing, or if they do, family obligations, etc. might keep them from pursuing it. Those who did know or eventually learn what it was they missed out on have many potential plot aspects such as resenting the family that tied them down, living with regret for "what might have been," etc. Or they might simply experience a feeling of unease for a few weeks.
If your wolf rolls for potential and does not pursue it, you are free to decide how strong the nagging sensation was and whether or not they knew what was happening, but please keep it reasonably realistic (wolves in isolated areas who have never met a seer / shaman should have no clue what's going on, for example).
This potential will expire / fade away IC within a month of a wolf being rolled. You may do "backdated" RPs, but in current RPs, they will not have potential if the one month mark has gone by.
You must post in red on your form: This is a plot roll only! and you cannot change this later.

EDIT later 09/17/2014: I just wanted to note that i'll be traveling to Greece for a 10-day trip on October 5th, so I won't be around to see if he makes it or not for some time. xd And, though I would be happy with either Shaman or Seer, I do plan to get a Shaman quest started for him if he's not lucky with the roll. :3
