Axel Theron lives on the outskirts of Kuro Shiro in a farm house with his parents and six younger brothers and sisters. They grow their own food and raise their own cows (very large ones, too) on the farm, though not a lot, just large enough to feed a family of nine hungry shapeshifter tigers. They also have a large flower garden for his parents and baby siblings because they love to play together in the dirt.

It's a classic farm house with blue shutters and red-painted walls and a wrap-around porch. A in-ground pool is in the backyard with a diving board. They have a large tree-house in the middle of the fields where he and his younger siblings play together, or just laze around. The tree is roughly 500 years old, so the tree-house is understandably large. It's also a place where he's brought multiple girls home for one-on-one time.

Residents:
Rasmus Calisto Theron (44) [Father]
Louise Anne-Henri Theron (46) [Mother]
Axel Simone-Marie Theron (20) [R.C.]
Alexis "Lex" Cressida-Louise Theron (17) [Sister]
Hanriette "Hattie" Macey-Hector Theron (14) [Sister]
Rhea Uriana-Noel Theron (12) [Sister]
Tressa Jocelin-Selena Theron (6) [Sister]
Harman Michele-Sophie Theron (10 months) [Baby brother #1]
Theoclymenus "Theo" Khrystiyanr-Philippe Theron (10 months) [Baby brother #2]

[Enter Axel from the Town Square.]

Upon returning home, Axel saw his parents were still home and the house, figuratively speaking, was about to lose its roof. Yelling and screaming could be heard from the inside, which was not a good sign. For a moment, he thought about hiding in the tree-house until all was quiet, but then he finally understood what the yelling was for: Alexis and the others were not attending the masquerade ball. News traveled fast in Kuro Shiro, and their parents heard of her behavior and the behavior of the other children, though the twins couldn't be blamed for anything. They were babies. Their parents were attending the ball with him while Alexis babysat the kids.

This news gave Axel the courage to enter the large farmhouse. He managed to avoid Alexis and her claws as he made his escape upstairs to ready himself for an early dinner. His parents prepared plenty of steak and lamb and vegetables and all the good stuff for healthy children. It was a good thing he had a high metabolism, or he wouldn't have room for food at the ball. The kids were angry they couldn't attend the ball, but Axel didn't care, and neither did their parents.

In fact, after dinner, their parents set the kids to work clearing the table while they and Axel readied themselves for the ball. In his room, Axel searched his closest for his for-all-occasions suit. Whether it was a school dance, funeral, or party, it was perfect. Being a guy was easy, and this French designer suit, given to him by his grandfather, made it easy to get the person he liked. He wore a yellow tie and a matching mask would make him irresistible to whoever he set his sights on. Too bad he had no intention of seducing anyone tonight. He just wanted to party.

Once ready, Axel arrived downstairs and waited for his parents to finish dressing before the three of them left home. His parents gave his siblings, Alexis especially, strict instructions not to cause trouble...or burn the house down. It could happen.

[Exit Axel to the Kuro Shiro Mansion.]

[Enter Axel from Kuro Shiro Manor.]

Upon returning home, Axel found his brothers and sisters dressed in their pajamas, piled on the couch in the family room, huddled beneath a fort of blankets and pillows. They were asleep, but he could see from the bags under their eyes they had stayed up for a long time before losing their battle with sleep.

Axel smiled, it felt painful, yet it was a relief. They were okay, not as okay as they could have been, but they were. Slipping off his shoes, Axel slowly and carefully pealed each of his siblings out of the blanket fort, from the little twins all the way to the nearly grown Alexis, and carried them back to their beds. He would talk to them about their parents when they woke up in the afternoon. For now, it was time for them all to sleep.

The eldest shapeshifter prepared for bed, he thought about making pancakes for his siblings to soften the blow of what happened. The younger ones would not understand very well, but they would know something bad happened to their mama. Alexis, Hanriette, and Rhea would understand and feel the pain of knowing more than Tressa, Harman and Theo.

Aura was quiet when she knocked on the door. She'd expected to babysit while Axel wasn't around, but from the lights she figured he'd come home and let his father stay in the hospital with his mom.

She figured she'd offer her help at least. She understood he had a lot of siblings and they might need some help being put to bed.

Axel was in his sweats when he noticed a familiar head near the window. He thought Aura might have gone home instead of coming to his house, but he supposed she didn't expect his father to shoo him away from the hospital as soon as they arrived. And he was glad she hadn't returned home. He would need her help with the kids.

Opening the front door, Axel beamed up at her.
"You're here!" He didn't know why his words sounded so weird to him. They were pitched a little different than normal. Maybe it was just his imagination.

"I was quite about to say the same thing to you." She said with a small smile at the crack in his voice. "I guess your father sent you off then. Do you still need my help?"

Part of her was still flustered with him for his behavior at the party. She rarely tried to hang out with guys, actually come to think of it recently she hadn't hung out with anyone, and the one time she does he is a womanizer. She excused it both because men and animals were creatures of many unbecoming habits and because he was a good brother. That meant a whole lot more to her.

Axel's mind skipped a few tracks before he comprehended what the forest elf was asking. Help. Her help. The help he had asked of her back at the manor. Yes, he definitely needed her help still. "Yeah, yeah, um, come in. Do you want to rest a bit first?" He asked, feeling flustered. He never had a female friend come over, mostly because they were all former girlfriends and he didn't view Aura as a potential girlfriend because he decided he didn't want to do that to her. Though he did need her help, but he need to be hospitable, too. He was the one who asked her over in the first place, right?

Stepping aside so she could come in, Axel had a hard time thinking of something to say. Let her rest, let her borrow clothes if she needed something to sleep in. Wait, would she be sleeping here? The house had guest rooms... s**t. He wasn't good at this.
"Um, I'll need help fixing up breakfast for the kids in the morning...and consoling them about Mom... Um, but I'll just need your help for the second part. Ah, you can rest up, we have a guest room, uh, I mean, you don't have to. I'm sorry about what happened earlier, at the party. I really am. I was stupid and I won't ever do it again. Ever." A rambling mess, that was what he was at the moment. Exhausted, his brains scrambled, and a pretty elf he wanted to befriend, like an actual friend, in front of him, and he couldn't do anything right.

Aura gawked at him for a moment, since when was he so... awkward. "I can help cook, clean, get the kids up, whatever you need. Until everyone has settled down tomorrow I am not even thinking about tonight." She walked inside and tried to ignore him fumbling over his words else she embarrass him.

"I think you need the rest more than me, you also underwent a lot of emotional stress. I can stay up and clean or something, it will do your father well to have the house in order too."

Axel cast his gaze downward, feeling self-conscious now that Aura was gawking at him. Was he doing something wrong? No, she walked inside and listed everything she could help him with once the kids were up. She had even forgotten his past transgressions. It kind of hurt, but he didn't know why. He wouldn't say it though, he just closed and locked the door behind her and ushered her further into the large farmhouse. "Ah, no, I can stay up a little longer. I can help fold the blankets and stuff. The kids just piled on the floor with the couch cushions waiting up for us...I mean, s**t. Sorry," he apologized as he rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. "But you're right, he would do well with a clean house. Mom, too. Oh, you can take off your shoes anywhere, and we have spare clothes if you'd like to change into them." He smiled, it was a little strained, but it held warmth in it just the same.

Staring at the pile of blankets and cushions on the middle of the floor, Axel sighed.
"They stayed up waiting for us. s**t, I didn't know why we didn't call them. Why didn't I? I'm an awful brother."He clutched one of the small pillows scattered on the floor before trying to laugh it off. "Blankets go in the cupboard under the staircase and cushions back on the couches," he said as he began folding one of the blankets. He was so tired, but if he didn't keep moving, he felt like he would breakdown crying at how pitiful he was. His parents were at the hospital and he hadn't even thought of calling his younger siblings so they'd know what was happening. He had left them alone, crying and worrying over them. And then he had Aura. He was asking too much of Aura. s**t, where did he think he got off asking her of all this? She'd definitely hate him.

[I think Axel's at a mini-breaking point.]

Aura had started picking up. "You are not a terrible big brother. You are a great one, if you would have had to call before you came home it would have been a lot worse because they would hear their amazing big brother's worried voice. Their strong big brother who keeps them in line and loves them to peices even when they act dumb. Right?" She could feel the stress, the breakdown. It made her own heart go tense and made her want to cry too. He was under too much stress right now, a huge house and a huge family and suddenly he was having to handle things alone.

Aura smiled at him and pulled him into a hug. "You are just a man after all, no one is perfect, and you have a lot of weight on your shoulders. Relax and just let me help."

Axel's breath hitched in his chest before he began crying in Aura's embrace. He desperately clung to her while mumbling "Thank you, thank you" over and over again into her shoulder. He couldn't fathom why she was so kind to him, or how she knew just the right things to say. How her mind could be so clear when his was a jumbled mess. Or how she knew exactly how he felt for his siblings and his siblings for him. He really didn't want to mess up this friendship, or the start of it anyways.

Taking in a shuttering breath, Axel mumbled in the forest elf's shoulder:
"You're too good for me, Aura. Way too good for anyone." He had cried no more than a couple of minutes, but it felt like an eternity. And he managed to soak her clothes with his tears. The shapeshifter felt better after crying, but terrible that he ruined her clothing. Balling his eyes out like that, he was selfish for it; and now as he peeked up at her, he felt self-conscious again. He could bet his usually clear green eyes were rimmed red and if Aura looked at them, she'd think him pitiful, so he quickly returned her hug once more before untangling himself from her.

Staring at his feet, Axel felt heat rise to his cheeks, causing them to redden. He hoped she didn't notice it because it would make him feel more self-conscious.
"Uh, sorry. I ruined your clothes. Sorry." He fiddled with another blanket, mindlessly folding it while waiting for Aura to speak. Hearing her voice was soothing.

"They are not ruined, it's just water it washes out." She waved it off. "Besides, when was the last time you let go of all the stress you have?" she wondered about the comment he'd made but thought it best not to mention it. "I know exactly what to do to help, so when you decide you need a break, that'll be your way of repaying me for the help okay? People try too hard for too long. The strongest people can only last so long."

"The blankets and pillows are up. What else can I do?" She was already turning to check on the kids, were they asleep, had they woken? How many went on junk food binges with the oldest out of the house?

Axel sniffed before conceding to Aura's reasoning. She was more level-headed than he could ever hope to be. She was smart and kind, it was a wonder she was helping out the likes of him, but he appreciated her presence all the same. She calmed him down and reassured him of the present and future.

Following her to the staircase where his siblings slept in their little beds and cribs.
"We just need to check on them and then go to sleep. It's been a long night," he whispered as he walked up the steps, skillfully avoiding the creaks of the old staircase. As a tiger, it was imperative that he knew how to stalk his prey silently, or sneak up on his younger siblings during a game of hide-and-seek. He glanced at the door at the top of the landing, his parents' room, but they wouldn't be home for awhile. To the left were the bedrooms of his three youngest siblings and a guest bedroom. To the right, his bedroom and his three other siblings. "You go right and I go left?" he whispered to the elf, though he still kept his eyes adverted. They were probably still rimmed red from all the crying he did.

"Sure thing." Her hand rested softly on his shoulder. Empathy made her want to cry for him, but she walked on her side and popped her head into the rooms. She hoped they were all comfy and sound asleep. One of them waking up to a stranger might startle them and she didn't want their rest disturbed like that. Poor kids.

Axel poked his head into each room his youngest siblings slept and saw they were all knocked out cold, especially the babies. Thank goodness for that. He didn't know what he'd do if they were awake. With a relieved sigh, Axel walked back down the hallway to meet up with Aura. "Everything's fine on my end," he whispered. "At the end of the hallway is a guest bedroom. You can sleep in it if you want. We've stayed up long enough." He was exhausted, but he knew he wouldn't be sleeping for long. He had to wake up, get dressed, milk the cows, prepare breakfast, and explain everything that happened at the ball. Not that any of that would take a bit of time. He was just concerned about his siblings and the cows. They needed to be milked every morning or their udders would become swollen. So many things to do, and he still felt so exhausted.
