What, in your humble humble opinion, is the best video game that has ever been?

The best videogame is "Doom." The greatest videogame is "Blade Runner."

... I have to think... haven't played a lot but from what I've played.
it's a tie between the Devil May Cry 3, and the .Hack Games.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. No contest. Awesome storyline, bright and cheery graphics, suddenly dark and deep, heartbreaking ending that always makes me cry, ADVENTURING, the soundtrack is fantastic, a wonderful cast of interesting and fun characters, sidequests galore! I absolutely love it.

My favorite has gotta be Dragon Age: Origins.
Skyrim is a close second.

I'm gonna have to go with Braid. Gorgeous game both graphically, in sound, and in narrative, and it's one of the few games that actually made me cry.

I would have a hard time not saying Ocarina of Time. It's basically perfect as far as I'm concerned, it's just a shame about the graphics. Still pretty much perfect, though.

Skyrim has to take the cake for me. It is the only game I have ever picked up and literally immersed myself in for days at a time. and I mean days. like... 2 hours of sleep a night so I could wake up and continue on my next epic quest. Still, I play it at least weekly and still am finding new things.

but strong contenders are both of the currently available Dragon Age games as well as both KOTORs. I cannot get enough of that small party support game play with amazing stories. So many builds. mmmmm.....

That's a trick question. The best game doesn't exist. For a game to be the best it would have to be very literally perfect, which as we all know is impossible. Even then, however, a perfect game may not be the best for any number of reasons, not the least of which could be that its genre isn't popular. For example, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad is a very strong game which is easily better than just about every mainstream shooter on the market, but is far less well known than it deserves to be in large part because the WWII genre was already bloated before it was even conceived.

Hoooh s**t. I completely forgot I had SWKotOR 1 and 2.
Have you, by chance, played the Mass Effect trilogy?

I've played 1 pretty extensively, 2 a bit, though I had a harder time taking the story in(but it's what I've come to expect with the first sequels of amazing new games), and haven't gotten around to 3 after my disappointment in 2. =/

Yea....from what my friends have told me it got even worse in 3, especially the ending. Le sigh.
