{Enter Lucien and Nasuada}
Nasuada was carefully placed onto the floor of the shop as a pile of red-brown sand, which rapidly shifted into a more natural looking woman of African descent. She automatically began to search herself, to make sure that she did not lose a bit of her sand in the travel by wind. I absolutely hate wind spirits and their idea of fast traveling, but this little breeze seemed to actually know what he's doing. Who would have known? She glanced over at the slowly forming boy appearing as if out of some sort of mist. "Well you apparently have some sort of control over your wind, unlike that brute of a master you have."
Lucien elected to wait to answer until he was fully formed from his breeze; one to allow him the time to form a proper response, two to let her stew in waiting for her rudeness, and three so that she could actually see him when he spoke. He had heard she detested speaking to 'nothing' "Thank you for the praise, however Ollor is not my master, merely a friend I often do favors for. As for brutish behavior, you must understand that Ollor is quite a large wind that covers quite a large area, it's unusual for him to confine himself into a small area for any length of time." Lucien stated as cordially as he could. He got another harrumph as a result. A twinge of annoyance flashed across his face at that, but thankfully the sand spirit didn't catch it. Ollor was right about her... difficulties. "Well, take your time in your selection, just keep in mind that this is a masquerade ball, which does require a mask as well as a dress. If you require my assistance I will be on the other side of the store, finding a few new items for my suit." and being as far away from you as possible he added mentally. Nasuada dismissed him with a brush of the hand.

{Enter Miko as a crow}
Miko flapped into the store with surprisingly little fuss, the store keeper was so used to the odd comings and goings of the town to even bother with a crow shifting into a scrawny girl on their main aisle. A second of searching and managed to find her brother, who was already heading her way. "Miko why are you here? I'm guessing it has to do with this ball, yes?" Lucien asked, his voice dripping with honey and as calmly as he could say it. Someone is with him, and they've ticked him off, she thought, so used to her brother's mannerisms that they rarely needed to speak that much, which was good for her. A quick glance and she found a vaguely womanlike person of African descent combed the aisles with disdain. Found her, she thought before returning to answer her brother. "Good looting, could use a second." She took a sip from the water bottle in her hand before continuing, "If you get the time." She finished in a hoarse whisper. Lucien nodded before looking his much smaller sister over. "You're going to need a little padding on the dress we're getting you, find something and try it on. We can dip into our considerable savings for this I suppose." Miko nodded and went throughout the store three times before finding the few items that seemed to fit her, and took another hour to decide between them. She sighed and took them to the counter.
Nasuada looked through the store for an hour, compiling all she needed to fit in at the ball. Honestly, why do I need to even bother with such trifling matters as this trivial ball? If the owners of the town wanted to see me, come and see me. Why waste all this time? She went to the door and rapped her foot. "Lucien, let us go to this ball. I'm ready." To which Lucien immediately popped out of an aisle and said, "I'm sorry Ma'am, if you could give me one more moment to allow my sister and I to purchase and dress our clothes, I wou—" "Fine! But be quick about it." Nasuada snapped, effectively cutting him off. Lucien merely bowed, and Nasuada believed he took even longer to as he said. Wind Spirits, so witlessly vengeful. "Shall we go?" Nasuada asked impatiently. With a nod, Lucien vaporized and whisk her away, a newly formed crow following closely behind them.

[Enter Malak from the Town Square.]
When Malak neared the shop, she noticed the unpleasant Nasuada Sahara and Lucien inside and then decided it was best to wait until the old spirit and the pitiful wind spirit were gone before she went inside. She didn't know it would take over an hour just to pick out a dress for this silly party. Malak just wanted a mask to go along with her dress.
Though waiting did give Malak time to text her cousins and figure out what they were wearing for the ball and in what colors. They all couldn't come together in the same color. It would be awful and how were they supposed to find each other? Malak wanted to wear blue, but her older cousin wanted to wear blue since Malak wore blue the last time they were at a wedding. In the end, she settled with wearing the red gown she wore at her older sister's engagement party last spring. All she needed now was a red mask to go along with it, which she found with no problem once Nasuada left the store with Lucien and the crow from earlier. Turned out to be friends with Lucien. Go figure.
Malak picked out a pretty red-and-gold mask and bought it along with masks fo her family happily before heading home to get dressed. "This evening will be fun.~" she murmured to herself as she happily skipped away. She had a fun game in store for the ball's guests.

[Enter Armel from Rose Cameron's inn suite.]
Stepping out of Miss Cameron's impressive and dangerous-looking impala, out of habit, Armel walked to the driver's side and opened the door for Miss Cameron. As he opened the door, he swore to himself he would never allow his queen to ride in the automobile. It drew too much attention and he felt that it would kill her at any moment. Muscle cars were not suitable for royalty. If his queen needed a vehicle, he would rent a safe, yet handsome car that would not be given a second look.
However, for the moment, he would travel in Miss Cameron's car as long as she'd allow his presence. "This looks like an interesting boutique, Miss Rose," he said as he waited for her to exit her vehicle. "It looks like we will find everything we desire here." Indeed, from what he could see, the boutique was filled with antique to modern clothing, accessories, and the likes. He even saw things he wouldn't consider clothing. Outfits only appropriate for childish parties. It was interesting.

[Enter from Suite in Inn]
Trying to stifle the shock at Armel getting the door for her - he was very old fashioned that way, she already knew - but then scowled, sensing his distaste for her car and his relief to be out of it, however small or well hidden. A good nose, when someone was close, could tell you a lot, if you knew how to interpret the scents. It may be old, and some people might consider it a muscle car, but it was n't - not to her at any rate. It was reliable and a beauty. She had once seen on TV an Impala like it - hence her love for hers - but that one on had definitely needed a new muffler or something, and at least her car wasn't really loud or anything. The only thing that drew attention to it was its antiquity.
"Interesting is a good word for it." Rose replied to Armel, getting a glace of the owner through the window. "Though it looks like this might be the only stop for any clothes - they have everything here! And I'm just looking through the window!" She chuckled for a moment, noticing all the different styles of clothing; Victorian style clothing, modern clothes, stuff for cos-playing, and anything clothing-related you could imagine. It was like a Halloween store, and those, thought Rose, were really, really, cool.

Armel nodded, noticing the slight change in the young woman's body as he opened the door. She could sense his distaste for the car, but that misunderstanding could be easily fixed at a later date. For now, it was important to focus on shopping for his queen. So long as Miss Cameron enjoyed her time shopping with him, it would make the task pleasant for all involved.
As he approached the boutique's door, Armel held it open for Miss Cameron while glancing the woman inside. She was dressed like a living doll, and it was disturbing to say the least. However, he could sense the woman enjoyed being dressed as she was and he could not dislike her for that. She was strong in her determination to wear what she liked without care of the public eye. It was an admirable trait. "Our shopping experience will be a memorable one for sure," he said to Miss Cameron. It certainly wouldn't be a boring shopping trip. "I already see clothing her majesty would approve of and wear in this climate." Most of them were dresses and heels, but he also saw airy blouses and flats.

Rose nodded in thanks to Armel, who held the door open for her. Stepping in, she saw an even wider array of clothing than she had seen just peeking in through the window. She noticed the owner again, and this time she took a closer look and noticed that the woman obviously felt comfortable in what she wore, and once she realised that, how could Rose dislike the woman? The woman wore what she liked without worry for what others thought, a trait few and far between in the world today.
Rose was still a little irked with Armel for his dislike of her car, but that evaporated a little when she heard what he had to say. As usual, It wasn't much, but what he did say was to the point, and accurate. Laughing a little, she thought that this must be a memorable trip if Armel already saw something a royal would like. Mind you, she had nothing really against them, but in her experience, they tended to be stuck-up, arrogant, and petty people, though she hoped that Miss Amaya wouldn't be - she had enjoyed their conversation on the way to the inn, and she seemed to be good people.
Smiling a little, she commented, "Who knew one store could hold so much variety and quantity and not feel all that crowded?" It truthfully didn't feel crowded at all. It must be because of the other supernaturals here, since many of them, Rose included, did not like cramped spaces.

Armel followed after Miss Cameron into the boutique, greeting the woman dressed as a doll as she chirped her own welcome, and silently agreed with Miss Cameron's assessment of the room. The way the displays were arranged did create a spacious, yet homely feel. His queen would definitely enjoy spending time here for its quaintness and fondness for weak women and children. The boutique would be a beacon for such types. However, he would never suggest such things to his queen. If she wished to visit this boutique after his shopping trip to learn about where he purchased her clothing, he would not steer her away.
Gazing at a bright red dress that would be at his queen's mid-thighs, Armel was sure she would approve of it, but he would not unless she wore complementary leggings. "Miss Cameron, would you wear black or gray leggings with this dress?" he asked her. It was natural that he would purchase pantyhose for her along with the two-inch heels he saw nearby. He already saw her size on the rack of shoes. "I think that flower-print blouse and those trousers will go well with these black pumps. The green blouse would go well with your complexion as well, Miss Rose." Now he was rambling off everything that would go well with each woman. And though he was rambling, he was seeking Miss Cameron's honest opinion and hoped for her help.

Rose looked over to the dress Armel had pointed out, and thought for a moment. "Hmm... The gray would make the dress stand out more, I think." The fact that he had already found something for Miss Amaya surprised her just a little bit, since she was leaning that, with this one, to expect the unexpected. Which describes very well what happened next; him pointing out some clothes for her.
Looking at his chosen outfits, she smiled and walked over to where many accessories lay, and found what she was looking for - a hair clip with a few (fake) flowers attached to it that went well with the flower-print blouse Armel had pointed out. "Add this to the outfit, and it'll look even better." She suggested. Smiling, Rose added, "Green does seem to be a good color in general, and even more so for a creature of the forests." She laughed, because, despite her being able to change into any animal, she preferred the forests to most anything else.

Armel nodded when Miss Cameron suggested the gray leggings. It was natural for Armel to purchase both colors, but for outfits, he needed to be sure what would go with what. He picked out a magenta sweater-dress with a belt for the black leggings as it would be refined, yet comfortable for his queen. As he mused over a few other articles of clothing, Miss Cameron had found a small flower hair-piece to go with the floral blouse he chose for her. The hair-piece would work in most outfits as well. However, to balance out the floral design, she needed metallic colors. Pulling at gold metallic jacket from a nearby rack, Armel held it out for Miss Cameron to assess. "Wear this with the blouse, jeans, and hair-piece, and you will look respectable and well-dressed." The outfit would work well for everyday activities or for dates.
And though he doubted his queen had any intention of dating, Armel was careful to choose clothing for what humans termed "a girls' night out" in case she and Miss Cameron became friends. Along with the more refined outfits, the bodyguard decided it was time to locate clothing suitable for the weather in this area. Turning to Miss Cameron, Armel asked of her: "What sorts of clothing do young women wear this time of year?" Thus far, he chose clothing that would keep his queen warm, respectable, and comfortable. However, he understood they would face times where they could not appear as refined. He may even engage in a battle in which his queen must make a quick escape. His queen may also wish to simply wear relaxed clothing.

Rose looked at the jacket that Armel handed her and compared it to the other items she now held. After a moment, she smiled. Armel had a better sense for what looked good then she would've thought. Expect the unexpected with him, she reminded herself before thanking Armel. "You know, if the whole guarding-your-queen career doesn't work out, you might want to own one of these places up here. You have a good eye, these look really good together." It was a really good outfit, but she still planned on getting one or two others as back-ups, in case of other fancy events.
She had found a nice green, almost sun-dress-like, dress, when Armel asked her what young women tend to wear this time of year. Thinking about it a little, she said, "Well, even though it's spring, the wind can still be a bit nippy at times, and it gets colder at night. Sometimes, too it will rain a lot or drizzle, so I would say jackets, tank tops, t-shirts, and boyfriend shirts," She paused for a moment, suspecting that Armel might not understand what she meant by boyfriend shirts, and decided to explain what she meant. "Boyfriend shirts being plaid, long-sleeve shirts that are a little big, and girls usually wear them over a tank top. I'm not sure if Miss Amaya has a romantic interest at all, but wearing your boyfriend's sweaters or clothes seems to be popular. Mostly because the stuff made for us sucks." Rose added the last part at a mumble, but since Armel smelled of bear and the chill of winter, she suspected she could still hear her. Continuing on with her suggestion of casual and comfort wear, she said, "As for pants, jeans, leggings, and occasionally sweatpants are 'fashionable', but other than that some young women dress up nice a lot or on occasion, depending on the person. Usually this means nice skirts and tops, or dresses, and mostly heels or flats. Every person's definition of 'nice' varies, though." She finished offering what advice she could, and kept an ear - or tow - open for Armel, and continued looking for some new clothes.

[That first line about the whole guarding-your-queen career reminds me of a quote from the Lunar Chronicles.]
Armel chuckled at Miss Cameron's career advice and wished he could explain how it wasn't a choice whether or not to serve his queen, it was survival. It was his way of staying powerful and honorable among his people. It was also the only profession he wanted. The bodyguard had trained since his earliest years to serve as a royal guard for the previous king and queen, and switching his services to Queen Amaya was not a difficult decision. Besides, he could only be a guard, anything else would be impossible for him. Still, he could not bring himself to ruin the mood created from their conversation. Instead, he smiled as he said to Miss Cameron, "I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I could become a personal stylist as well?" Continuing the joke was easier than pretending he wasn't interested in a different career.
All joking aside, Armel listened with all seriousness to Miss Cameron as she explained the area's weather and the clothing appropriate for it. He expected the cool nights, but he was not used to areas where it frequently rained. He wasn't looking forward to the wet weather, it could dirty his queen's clothing with the mud the rain would produce when in contact with the earth. Then, when Miss Cameron mentioned boyfriend shirts, Armel immediately knew what she was referring to—he had more than a few "boyfriends" in the past—but allowed her to explain it because how flustered she looked. It was both amusing and attractive. However, he had to rain on Miss Cameron's parade, so to speak, when it came to boyfriends and his queen. "Her Majesty, Queen Amaya, does not trifle with simple romances. Only the most worthy male may be her king. He must be fierce, strong, cunning, intelligent, and above all, loyal to Her Majesty. However, none have shown such qualities." He would not allow any male to so much as touch his queen if his intention was to be more than "friends" with her. He would not accept any male as his king unless his queen found him impeccable, and even then he would keep a wary eye on such a companion for his queen.
During his defense of his queen, Armel had lost awareness of himself and realized he was being stared at by the doll-like owner and the other patrons of the boutique. "My apologies, Miss Cameron. Even off-duty, the work of a guard is never done. But I thank you for your suggestions. I have a better idea now how my queen shall dress for this weather. And, if it does not trouble you, would you possibly fancy the idea of modeling the outfits for my queen? As we are not used to this climate, I have little idea how well the different articles would appear together and you are approximately the same size as Her Majesty." It was important to remain humble when asking such things, though he did have a rough idea through magazines and advertisements. However, he didn't know how the clothing would look on his queen. It was only spring for a short time in their kingdom and even then it was cool.
[Whether in Kuro Shiro is what it would currently be in the present, upper-U.S., so springtime as you described.]

Rose chuckled at his response to her joking suggestion and said, "Either would work." Okay, he was going along with it. Maybe she could forgive him for not liking her car after all. Any laughter or jokes went out the window, however, when Armel became very defensive of his Queen's love life and romance situation. After a moment she realised he thought she was implying something about her queen, so when he was finished with his mini-rant, she simply smiled, saying, "Of course not, and I didn't mean to imply anything of such, I simply meant I wasn't sure if she had someone close to her whose clothes she could borrow, since that is a popular thing now. But, I'm afraid men like the kind you described are few and far between up here, and women the same, unfortunately. You can find fierce, strong guys, and cunning, and intelligent guys, sometimes a mix of both, but now a days you can rarely find a loyal one who is willing to stick with it. Loyalty is the most important thing for any relationship." She felt pretty much the same as Armel on what someone should be like, especially for a person in a high-ranking leadership position. His passion on the subject was good to see, and she thought that he, at least, was good people, to feel so strongly about it.
Smiling, again, at his humbled apology and the request that followed, she responded, "Please, Armel, if you insist on me calling you Armel instead or Sir, please call me Rose instead of Miss Cameron, unless we're at, like, a formal dinner or something, and there is no need to apologise for feeling strongly about something and expressing your opinion. If anyone, I should apologise for letting you think I was implying something negative about Queen Amaya." Hopefully, she wouldn't implicate anything, even by accident, at the dinner tonight—bad enough to irk Armel, it was probably worse if she irked his Queen, and in front of him no less! She held back a shiver of horror just thinking about it. "Fashion-advice-wise, mine may not be the best advice, but hopefully it'll do, and of course I'd be happy to help you by trying on some of the clothes." She smiled a little brighter, reassuring him that she really was happy to help however she could. Besides, how could she not help? That went against who she was as a person; to not help others was to not breathe, or not sleep, it just wasn't natural for her.

Armel realized he slipped up and did not address the shapeshifter as Miss Rose, but Miss Cameron instead. It was a small slip, but through everything he had said, and all the forgiveness Miss Cameron showed him for his small outburst. She remained composed and compassionate, she showed qualities that would fit well in a companion for his queen. For now, he would concede with her request to address her solely by her given name. It would not be an easy transition, but if it was necessary for the sake of his queen. "Thank you, Rose. I do think you're advice would be the best. An average person knows best how to blend in and mingle with the average population—I'm not saying you're average, but you're not in the same position as my queen." He smiled, more relaxed and jolly—if that was the appropriate word—certainly in better spirits than before when he first walked through the little town with his queen.
Turning in the direction of the more casual clothing, Armel said to Miss Cameron, "Well, let's get started. My donauwelle will be ready to leave the oven soon." It was a treat for his queen and it would be a thank you gift as well for Miss Cameron. He hoped she enjoyed the taste of sour cherries and chocolate. "What do you think of plaid short-sleeve and long-sleeve shirts? Would they work well with shirts of solid colors?" he asked.
[You can time skip and say Rose and Armel had a fun time choosing clothes for herself and Amaya.]
