The Desert lands remains under threat!

Through out the desert the Mara continue to attack any living things they find, but the majority of them are gathered at Turkyere!

Tukyere, the small city of hybrids in the Desert is under siege! Lucky for them the Wild tribe (both the desert and mountain sections) have come to help as well as the over worked Guardians who are defending the walls of the city. While the Mara's surround the city defended by the Guardians, the Wild Tribe surrounds the Mara's. Since Tukyere is the main source of Magescians left on Eowyn, the Mara's concentrate their numbers here.

The Volcano and surrounding areas they avoid as the King does not like the magma that lurks there. He knows that it is strong enough to melt him and his people and does not want to risk the volcano being magically forced to erupt.

The Terra Expanse remains remarkable clear of Mara... The king has found nothing of note within there, and feels it is best to concentrate upon the area's where the fleshy two legged beings dwell... the buildings and cities.

If you are on Eowyn, what are you doing? Are you stuck in Turkeye? Or are you aiding the Wild Tribe in their attacks on the Mara?

Special: The Marlan Stronghold

It is possible to attempt to approach the Marlan Project! Should you try to do so, please quote the mule and let us know! There is a special prompt for you (it will change depending on level, path, race, etc) as you attempt this difficult task.

The Mara Stronghold is still full of Crafters and other Maras. Many are just defending while others are leaving to go join the fights on other lands. If you watch for a time, you can spot the glowing orbs that make up the "soul" or magic of a Mara returning to it's creator. But, weirdly enough, you see something that nerves you. The Mara that return alive (and there are quite a few) all are dragging bodies behind them. Why are they doing this? You have heard or you yourself tried to fly/swim over and saw yourself, that boats are returning to the Mara's docks within the stronghold's bay. And every time this happens there are a few Mara's on board to unload bodies from them as well.

Mages, Khehora and Khehorians who get close: You can sense the magical barrier that covers the stronghold. In a perfect sphere (those trying to burrow can attest to this) it is an invisible barrier. You believe that with enough power you can open a hole and sneak in... Or maybe break a hole and charge in...

Those who try to walk in: You run into the barrier, it feels like walking into a wall. Red and brown swirls appear where you tried to et through before vanishing and leaving an invisible wall behind once more.

Hunting Mara's

You may still roll for Mara encounters! Roll the dice in this thread and at the end of the meta, claim all your loot and EXP!
Or you can also just link to a Hunt thread in the Hunt forum if that is easier for you.
At the bottom of your post keep track of the Word count for the hunts (you still need 300 per Mara!), the EXP gained and so on.

Sometimes the Mule will quote and tell you that you are being ambushed or attacked by Mara, treat these like normal Mara hunts and follow the prompt given.

Raemos Medrol
Oblivionite Adept Mage, Guardian
Tukyere Wall

They'd thought they were safe. Even when they'd heard that the way to Taliuma was swamped with mara, they'd thought Tukyere would be safe.

They were so wrong.

Raemos looked out over the regiments upon regiments of mara as magic from both sides crashed and rattled around him. This was more than what he had seen before. Those were tribes of ambushers, small units and such.

This was an army.

He had heard a rumor that he was likely to be promoted, but that didn't matter - everything, including life itself, was on hold before these stone invaders. He watched as the mara roiled below, and cast his own spells into the mix, stopping to observe.

As he had thought.

"They're resistant to dark magic," he said, unhappily. "Wonderful." It effected them, but not by much. "I wonder if we have any catapoults..."

HEROISM

Suluksati glided in the air over the desert surrounding the city of Tukyere, growling at the unnatural stone shapes she saw below. Horrible abominations! How dare they attack her! How dare they attack children?! She did not like them and their presence in her desert home made her feathers itch and her skin crawl.

They were so many. They swarmed over the land like stone ants, silent and evil - yes evil. Though made by the leader of the Orderites, they were, undeniably, not a force for good.

She roared at the armies below and banked to avoid a hail of sharp metal, snarling. She wanted to destroy these creatures, but they just kept coming. Clearly, killing the individuals would do nothing, especially as they returned their magic to their maker - she assumed - easily.

Clearly, she had to go to the heart of their operation.

With a shriek of defiance to the world, she turned towards the Maralan bay and flew as fast as her wings could take her...

Mara Stronghold

Prompt: Sulu runs into the Barrier that protects the Maralan Stronghold. She can literally run into it (it feels like a stone wall and does not yield, though sparks fly and she gets a small shock) or she can stop and sense the magic before that happens (mostly Ord, but twisted by Earth Magic).

How does she try to break the barrier? (This is the work of several Master Ords, enhanced and twisted by the Mage and Dark Mage Mara).

If she tries to magically rip the barrier, she can make a small hole in the barrier... not enough for her to get through but it's there. Barrier heals quickly. And then Mara Mages and Dark Mages come out and attack her. (alarm spells!) Minimum of 5.

If she tries to physically break the barrier: she breaks a bone instead. Mage Mara's show up soon after, minimum of 3 and attack.

FYI: they cannot fly. They float above the ground but that's it.

The ground sped by Suluksati as she flew forward, her wings pounding the air with all of the strength and grace that she, as an Alikhora, possessed in the air. She scowled downwards as the regiments of mara passed beneath her. They were like a forest of moving stone, marching forth to hurt others.

She had bloodied her claws before. She freely admitted it, with both shame and pride. She had, not a few weeks back, killed magescans in the name of her quest, throwing her bolts of magic and claws into her work as she had never done before. She was a murderer now, but they had been too - hunting her precious dragons like mere beasts. They were not mere beasts - they were beautiful, primal beings, as much art as a part of the living world of Magesc itself.

These were different. To kill them was not murder, or even death. They were monsters of metal and stone, animated with the sole purpose of being weapons. She doubted that, unlike the Oblivionites, they had no heart. She doubted they had a soul either - merely animating magycks that held them against the wrath of nature and the test of time.

They were wrong. In every way that Suluksati could think of, these... mara... were wrong. How could lady Seren allow her children to create such hideous monstrousities? It was disgusting and wrong.

Suluksati was sometimes a khehora of patience, but as the wave of stone non - people marched - or rather, hovered- below her, she shrieked and clawed at the air, as if she could pull herself closer to their source. She could not stand the thought of more of these abominations being brought forth onto magesc, no matter whose side they were on or what they were doing. They were simply not right.

But the mysterious place simply did not obey her desires. It drew only minorly closer with each wingbeat, as if it was reluctant to let her in.

If she had been aware of its status as a top secret site, she would have guessed that a spell kept her away, misdirecting her and holding her at bay, or gently keeping her away. But Suluksati did not know much more than she had learned from vague rumors and observation: That it was the source of the mara, and that they were created by the Orderite leader. 'Top secret' and 'governmental secrets' and 'international espionage' and even 'war research' meant little to her, who had no real nation and no home beyond a vague love of the Serenian wilds. Borders and war meant nothing to her or her quest, aside from the need for the increased need for dragon souls in the ever-constant magescan greed for power, which would be mirrored by her fellow khehora as they attempted to maintain an equal footing with the two leggers. It would devolve into a terrible cycle of killing, centered around each other and her beloved dragons. That was what war meant to Sulu, and she did not like it.

She wondered if the mara killed dragons? If they didn't now, she was sure they would. All things that warred would use the dragons as sources of power. It was despicable and, unfortunately, common. Even she, the self-proclaimed defender of dragons, had a few soul orbs of her own... more than a few - quite a lot. She had too many, and it made her feel horrible, like she was betraying herself by simply keeping them.

But no. Those orbs had a use - a purpose to which they would advance her. They would give her power, yes, but the power to protect the others that had not yet fallen, the dragons that had yet to be slain. She had planned on being a khehorian all along, had known she had needed more power. But now, as she gazed down at the mara and the empty desert they left in their wake, she knew it with great certainty.

She was close now. She could feel it. She could smell it, the smell of magic and metal and heated stone. She would swoop in and kill the abominations where they were born. She would destroy this hideous construction of magic and horror at its source. She would not allow it. She, the defender of dragons, would not allow these weapons of war to exist.

She screamed, powering forward in a massive, dramatic swoop, not caring if she was seen or heard. Let them come! She would destroy them, and scour this land clean of their madness!

She was cut short as she slammed into something extremely solid. The air around her rippled and surged with shimmering magic and swirls of reds and browns, and she felt herself pushed back, sparks trailing as she hurtled through the air. She soon righted herself with a few flaps of her wings, shaking her head and snarling as it became clear that she had hit... something. She hovered, squinting - she could see a dome, a vague shape like a discolored bubble in the air. She flew forward again, only to be, again, repelled.

A barrier! Of course. A shield to protect their fell constructs, as if the monsters were not already shielded by their shells of stone and metal! She struck at it in frustration with a foreclaw, snarling her aggravation to the desert sky. She was merely annoyed - she wasn't expecting anything, or much of anything, to happen.

But something did.

With a loud sound, not quite describably as a bell, her claw was deflected, a shockwave echoing painfully up her arm. She felt a bone shatter and screamed in pain, flapping wildly as her nerves seared. Her magic soon shimmered around her and repaired the damage and, as she shook the tears from her pained eyes, she looked down to see that a group of stone mara, wearing clothing of a sort and stinking of metal and mud and the distinctive aura of magic, had arrayed below her. One of them called out, and she was soon bombarded with sharp stone and metal, a stream of deadly shrapnel that seemed to seek her out. She dodged it, coughing up a ball of sticky, searing light. She released it from her mouth with a roar at the mara, and it exploded into a powerful burst of light. One of the mara overloaded, crumbling to the ground lifeless, as the other held its still glowing arm to its side. Sulu came back for another pass, swooping in to grab one of the uninjured ones with her talons.

It was heavy, but her powerful wings managed. She flew up, up, and up until, with a cry of wild battlelust, she dropped it at the mara below. It screamed as it fell, shattering into unanimatable pieces as its brethren dodged.

She was hit, suddenly, with another stream of shrapnel and, too low to dodge, instead opted to fly away.

She was not, however, finished. Not by a long shot. She flew out of range of the sharp, painful metal and rocks, her magic healing her as she went and then, when she felt that she was in adequate condition, she turned again, circling back towards the maralan project and its terrible barrier...

Raemos Medrol
Oblivionite Adept Mage Guardian Corporal
(In charge of 5 troops, total 15 among the Guardian unit)
Tukyere Wall

Luk: 54, including Luk gained from Apprentice hunts (ongoing)
Current Loot:

"Medrol! Over here! Now!"

Raemos looked up at Seargent Miri's voice and, promptly headed over. He was desperate for direction. He needed orders. He needed to know what he should be doing. Should he be enchanting cannonballs? Fixing something? Casting spells? Down there on the field? In the city helping with civilian efforts? She would give him direction.

She looked him over and handed him a badge. "Congratulations. You're a Corporal. We're a bit shortstaffed now, but this promotion's been in the running for a few days now and we need you: You know how to take care of these Mara, and you've kept a level head and a strong body, so... Go do your job. Those are your troops."

This wasn't quite the direction that Raemos had been looking for, but, as he pinned the Corporal medal onto his uniform - a new uniform would have to wait, of course - he decided that it would work out. He looked over the five Guardians under his newly-minted command. He knew them, and he'd worked with them before. "Yes sir." he said. He knew, by now, that she preferred that to Ma'am. "And what are your orders to me and my troops, Seargent?" his heart fluttered at 'me and my troops' but he kept it out of his voice. He was disciplined. He'd show that he was. They weren't making a mistake in promoting him.

"Go kill Mara. I'll let you know if I have anything more specific than that."

Raemos nodded. "Understood, sir!" he said, saluting before walking over to join his troops. "Right. I'm a Corporal now, and you are all under my command. Clear?"

"Yes, Corporal Medrol." said one. The others nodded.

"Our current orders are to kill mara and await further instruction. We can discuss methods of killing mara. They appear resistant to dark magic, and they are defended against swords. Suggestions for combined attacks are welcome... You have permission to speak freely." He sat on a nearby stone and waited to see what they came up with.

Approaching Tukyere

Junjie and the group that he traveled with had been heading across Eowyn toward Tukyere since the Mara started their attacks against everyone that they could get near to. It was a strategic move on the part of his group because they needed to go somewhere safe that would allow those like Junjie, his daughter, and the son of one of their group members. Tukyere was a city that welcomed those with mixed blood, something that they needed at this point. It was already a dangerous enough right now due to the Mara, their group needed at least one less thing to worry about, hence the trek to this particular city. If nothing else at least it would be a safe have from those who didn't want hybrids about. Really though if that was what concerned a person these days it just showed that their priorities needed realigning.

"We are almost there." Arjan said as he came to land near to Junjie, looking him over before glancing over at Abellio who was carrying Keona on his back. The feathered Khehora had the task of flying ahead were they to get waylaid by the Mara but thus far they had been able to keep the things at bay. So long as they were able to continue to do so until they made it to what was as close to safety as one could get in Eowyn. It wouldn't suddenly be home base and they wouldn't instantly be safe, but it was better then being out in the open, "There seems to others there too, preparing to fight, are we helping once we get everyone inside?" The Kiandri asked.

After giving his little one a glance Jun nodded, "Even as far off as Tukyere is from where the Mara seemed to be coming from it's still too close for comfort. We will likely have to fight." He murmured, it was the only way to keep everyone safe. He just didn't want to worry Keona though so he kept his voice hushed, she had already seen more then her fair share of fighting on the way here as they fended off the Mara, she didn't need to see anymore. Sure, he knew he couldn't keep her away from it forever given her mixed heritage, but he could do what he could to protect her while she was still little. Reaching out he patted Abellio on the neck, "Keep your eyes open." He said as they got closer, glad to see that the city was in sight now. It had been their goal for some time so seeing it come into sight was a huge relief. It meant that they had at least found a place to hunker down for now. While Tukyere was a distance from where he wanted to be, that being Serenia so he could find his mother, it seemed impossible to catch a ride there. As such they had to go with plan B, which was where they were now.

"Come on, let's move a bit faster. The sooner we get there the better." Junjie said, picking up the pace and the rest of those in the hunting party they traveled with did the same. The sooner they got inside the better, they needed to rest, recover from their long journey, and prepare for what was to come next.

Eyphah
Diabi Khehorian, Feral Battler
Eowyn

Eyphah was near to the mouth of the caves that led to where his people were hiding out at the moment, his glowing eyes watching the expanse of sand before him. He wasn't sure how he felt about the Mara leaving Eowyn to go to other continents. It spread out his targets, that was for sure, but it wasn't as though there were a lack of them now. There were still enough to fight with, he just knew that there were others who got to fight with them as well these days. It was a bother, he'd really wanted to keep them all to himself he thought idly. His tail set to lashing behind him, the claws of his forefoot tapping against the rock under it. He would likely be heading out again soon, to do another patrol, so that he could be assured that the Mara were being kept at bay. He didn't want them anywhere near this place, it was his clan's fall back after all. This was where they went when things got dangerous, from here there was no where else to retreat to. The battle lines were clearly drawn.

"I will likely be heading out again soon, Tallulah. I can't let the Mara get close to this place, there are too many that are counting on me." Tallulah being one of them. Grrel had commented before that Tallulah probably didn't need to be protected but what else could he do? He couldn't very well just leave him alone. He'd much rather do what he could to protect the Merkora since he was a rare treasure and one that Eyphah had claimed as his own long ago. He'd saved him from that Kiandri dragon after all and since then he'd trained him, made sure he was able to get strong enough to become Merkorian, he would continue to look after him as well as the little whelp that he was taking care of.

His tail set to lashing more, "I wonder what the other continents look like." He mused, he'd been to a few of them himself so that he could hunt there, but he hadn't been there recently. The Mara had gotten wise to the use of ships it would seem, were wandering all over the place, and that meant that some of his former hunting grounds might be at risk. It was quite a bother if you asked him, such a waste of good hunting grounds, good prey, and good food. He wasn't someone that was going to go out of his way to save a bunch of two-legs though, he already had enough to do here at home after all. He just hoped a few of them survived or else it would be a loss of rather tasty prey.

Tallulah
Peisio Merkorian, Feral Battler
Eowyn

Turning to look over at Eyphah the Merkora nodded his head, walking over to him to look out over the desert as well, "I can help fight you know." He told his teacher, giving him a bit of a smile, then looked back into the caves where he'd left the little whelp to rest, "I know I am looking after him but I can fight too. It might be good for him as well, to get out there, to fight the Mara, to get stronger. We don't know when we are going to find his family after all, he might need to toughen up." He didn't want to say out loud that they didn't know if they would find his family. He hoped that they didn't, he didn't want to think about those particular two-legs having been captured or killed by the Mara but it was possible. He just hoped that they had found their way to some place safe.

Turning to look over at his friend a moment he gave a thoughtful sound, "I wonder how my mother and the clan are doing." He mused to himself. The fact that they were underwater, that should be a good sign, right? They should be alright, right? He hoped so at least. He couldn't say he knew that much about the Mara and how well they dealt with Water. Given that they seemed to be made of metal and rock he'd guess not well. Such things would surely sink, right? He hoped so at least, if they sank that meant that they would end up on the bottom of the ocean and not pose too much of a threat to the water dwelling community. His tail set to lashing behind him as there was mention of the other continents. Since the Mara had learned how to leave Eowyn it meant that they would be invading all of the different places that he'd seen.

Giving a grumbling sound he said, "They really are a bit like locust, aren't they?" They were spreading rapidly, making a mess, and nobody seemed to really know exactly what it was that they were up to or what they wanted. Sure, they seemed interested in capturing prisoners... but what else? Surely there had to be something else to it? Not that he wanted to really find out first hand. He'd rather learn about it from a safe distance from where they were coming from and he only hoped that Eyphah felt the same. The last thing he wanted was the Diabi to head toward the Mara's home town to try to take them on himself.

Nehelini
Dovaa, Apprentice Battler
Eowyn

The child was resting. Sleeping deeply as the two Kheohrian's that he had come to think of as pseudo-family were nearly trusted. Nearly as the child had yet to shorten their names and kept tacking on 'Elder' as a sign of respect. Nehelini stirred as he looked up at the two adults' backs...he knew what wasn't spoken. These monsters were getting scarier...he sniffled. Then curled, what if his Uncles and big brother were dead. Like....like his Parents. The little whelp tried not to cry...that wasn't what a warrior did. That wasn't what a man did. Only a few tears escaped as he shook with the silent sobs.

Nehelini was more scared now than ever. He just wanted things to get peaceful. The child wiped at the few tears that escaped.

Flying fast, Grrel left behind the interesting and irritating issue of Samael and his family to return to where she'd left Eyphah. Following his instructions she found her way to the clan home. She chatted with one of the Khehora along the outskirts to ask for direction to where they were. Satisfied that she knew where she was going now, and following the scent of Eyphah's rather strong magic, she wandered about till she found them. Hopping into the lair opening she grinned cheekily at the two Khehora's.
"Hello Eyphah and Tal! Found you!" For now, the sobbing child went unnoticed. She wasn't paying attention to the surroundings, not when her two.. well one friend ad one could be friend, were in front of her.

Prompt: The Barrier is too powerful for Sulu to break alone. She will need to find help to make a large enough hole in the Barrier to get through! She can figure this out if she takes a minute to think and probe the barrier with her magic. It is the work of several mages (Orderite it seems since her magic almost resonates with it).
What does she do when she realizes this?
If she tries to fight break it again, more Mara come out to face her. (2 minimum)

"Well, sir, if the dark magic isn't working, just use it for, uh, terrain things?"

Raemos nodded at the soldier. "Yes. That could work. Push them around, sort them into groups we can deal with, shroud our own troops. Right. That could work...." he frowned, "I'm the only mage in this group, aren't I?" he asked, wincing. "Wonderful. Right. We aren't quite at the point where we can drop things on them without hitting our own and..."

"I'm gonna interrupt here." Seargent Miris said, bursting into the group with all the subtlety of a hurricane. "I have those specifics you wanted, Corporal Medrol" Raemos liked that title with his name. It had a nice ring to it. "There's refugees outside the walls. We'd like to get them inside. You have the experience to pull off getting through the mara there and back, so get out there, get the people, get them here safely, and no glory stunts... got it?! You are ordered to come back in one piece." She saluted, then stalked off to growl another group. Raemos saluted, then ran his hand through his hair, slightly uneasy - he was, after all, just out of the infirmary.

"Right!" he said, standing up. This was, however, war, and he felt strong. He felt fine. He could handle this. "You heard the Sergent! Get ready to move out. We get the people, and we escort them back in. I will meet you at the gates. Go!" they hesitated before grabbing their gear and making their way down from the wall.

Raemos went to the edge and peered over it. In the distance, he could see a group of people - of indeterminate race and class - approaching. Soon, they would reach the line of attacking mara, and then they would be set upon.

As would his group. He needed to be there to lead them, but he had a little bit of time before they would be ready to go. He could use that time.

A direct spell, he knew, would not effect the groups of mara at once. It had worked when he'd been fighting the small groups, but he had watched from this very wall as dark magic had flowed off the mara, like water off an aquatic bird's back.

An indirect spell, however, something made to distract and redistribute the maran forces... that could work. He summoned his magic up from the depths of his being and, observing the battlefield for a moment, sent a spell down into it, snaking it through the shadows of the mara and the fighters until it reached a place he felt suitable.

Then he raised it into a feather-patterned tentacle, that lashed at the mara around it, occasionally shoving at it or picking it up with its solid shadows.

Big and lfashy was the key - Raemos hadn't intended it to do anything more than that. As it split and coiled, he rushed down the stairs to the gate. "Right. Lets go." He hoped it would be a good distraction - it didnt cost him much. "We move quickly and cleanly. Evade where possible." They shoved themselves into the fray, the defending line a tangle of bodies and retreating people, "And dont get lost!" Raemos drew his sword and the group began to run ahead. Raemos glanced to see that his distraction was only somewhat working, but not much. He held the sight in his head of where the travellers were, and pointed towards that direction. "That way!" he called, ducking as a stone mara swung at him. It was soon dispatched by one of the soldier's maces. He dodged a metal mara's swing, surprised at how nimble he had become, and soon that mara was felled by a lucky blow of a sword. "I am liking this pattern!" he remarked, shoving a rock mara aside into one of its fellows with telekinesis as his unit stormed past.

And they were through the mara ranks, however briefly, though they were pursued.

But there they were, walking through the dusty desert haze: the group he had been sent to protect. It looked varied, to say the least, but this was Tukyere, the city of variety. "Protect our rear!" Raemos called, "You two, with me!" He was really liking this leadership thing. He approached the caravan quickly, "We're from the Guardian's guild! We are here to ensure your safety" he called, cupping his hands to his mouth. All right, that sounded a little lame, but what else was he to say? "Are there any other groups behind you that you know of?" he figured it would be good to ask. If there were, it would be more economical to wait and guard the whole lot of them...

Junjie gave pause as they got closer to their destination, something that caused the rest of his group behind him to pause as well. There were Mara between them and the gates to the city they were trying to get to he realized. Not something that he felt he should be too overly surprised about though, they seemed to be everywhere these days. He had just hoped that they would at least be able to get inside before the next battle against the lot of them occurring. Turning to glance between his two Khehora before he said, "We are going to have to break through the Mara's lines if we are wanting to get inside." He stepped closer to Abellio, reaching up to take his staff from the the Khehora's back, giving him a smile, "Get ready."

Leaning over to Keona who was perched on Abellio's back at the moment he gave her a kiss on the head, "Remember what I said about when I fight?" He asked of her, something she responded to instantly by burying her face against Abellio's feathers. Junjie smiled, "Good girl, I will let you know when you can look again." He didn't want her to see any sort of battling yet for one but on top of that he knew that some of his magic, the sort that came from his Orderite blood, was dangerous to her. She was half Oblivionite and Aeduan magic didn't quite mix well with them, as such he'd do what he could to keep her safe from it. Shrugging out of his cloak he wrapped it around her, pulling the hood down over her head, "Keep this safe for me Keona."

The girl lifted her hands up, pulling it more tightly around her, "Ok, Daddy." She chirped from within the folds of the cloak. Turning back to Abellio he said, "Keep your eyes on her, if the Mara look like they might swarm you fly her into Tukyere." It was important to him to make sure that the little girl was alright though he wasn't too worried, they weren't alone after all and it seemed as though soldiers from within the city were coming to their aid as well. Once his daughter was taken care of he turned to look a the leader of the hunting group, giving a nod, "I am going go in first, cast some of my entangling spells. Once you see an opening get your son and wife through, I will see to the rest of the group." Save for that small family there were three other men that he would see to, wanting to make sure that they were kept safe. The group meant a lot to him, they had taken him in despite what he was and helped to keep his family safe all this time, he would make sure to do the same for him.

The big Orderite nodded, drawing his sword before he motioned to his Dovaa wife who was carrying their young son in arm to his side, "Stay close to me." He told her before he looked to Junjie, "We are ready when you are."

Junjie nodded, giving his wings a flap before he started forward, gathering his magic to him, "Abellio, Arjan, you know the drill." He said, the three of them all preparing spells in unison as they started forward. Abellio would entangle the closest of the Mara while Junjie and Arjan set about destroying it, it was their normal battle plan and one that they knew worked well. As such they would use said plan yet again to make sure that they were able to whittle down the number of Mara that were out there that they had to deal with. The less Mara that stood between them and Tukyere the better. With their plan set They started forward once more toward the city once more. As they did so Abellio released the spell that he had been gathering energy for, causing old, gnarly roots to come up out of the sandy ground which entangled one of the Mara. Once it was secured Junjie lifted his dragon headed staff, gathering magical energy to it that was a swirling mix of green and white,"Any Oblvionites! I suggest you look away a moment!" He called out before launching it forward. The last thing he wanted was to harm them with his Aeduan magic when they were aiding his group after all. As he cast his spell Arjan did the same with his own yellow electrical energy, launching it forward as well from his mouth. The three types of magic mixed together and upon hitting one of the Mara it left it in pieces.

"We'll grab the head on the way by." Jun said as they continued forward, readying for the next attack. While he really didn't care at this point one way or the other who they gave the heads to, but he knew that collecting the bounty would aid his family. As such it was something he'd do even if he didn't owe allegiance to either Aevah or Marcus.

SwordOfTheDarkOnes

Eyphah
Diabi Khehorian, Feral Battler
Eowyn

Eyphah turned his attention to the entrance of the cave when he heard the sound of approaching wings beats. There was a tense moment when he found himself wondering if the Mara had somehow learned how to make themselves wings after learning to use boats... but much to his relief and delight he saw not a winged Mara but Grrel instead, "It's good to see you again." He said, taking a couple steps toward her, "How bad is it out there? We have been mostly sticking around this area so that we can keep the clan safe." He wanted to go out, wanting to wipe out more Mara, but much to displeasure he knew he had to be more careful now that the Mara seemed to be growing smarter along with growing tougher. It really was a pain, the fact that he was fighting a defensive battle at the moment when what he wanted more was an offensive battle instead.

The fact that the Mara were leaving Eowyn was enough to drive him crazy and it made his tail lash from side to side. It was more then obvious that the scarred up Diabi would rather be in the thick of things, hell, he'd rather go right to the source in fact. It was something he had never felt before, beng so torn between his decisions. On a normal day he'd be out and about fighting and tearing things apart! Today was far from normal though and he felt things wouldn't return to normal until the Mara were dealt with. Which was where he was so of running circlings in his mind. He couldn't go out there because of the Mara, but if the Mara were taken care of he could, to take care of the Mara though he'd need to go out there. It really was a pain and gave the Diabi a bit of a headache.

"Bah, I just want to tear them apart." He muttered to himself, hating when he was forced to do overly much in the way of thinking. He'd rather leave that to those like his mother or Tallulah who were better at it.

Tallulah
Peisio Merkorian, Feral Battler
Eowyn

Tallulah gave a smile when he saw Grrel arrive, "It's been a while, Grrel, how are you fairing in all of this?" He asked of the other Khehora, glad to see that she was alright. He had enjoyed chats, fights, and fishing with her in the past, considered her a friend, and as such knowing that she was alright was something that put his mind at ease. That was until he heard Nehelini's sniffling. He turned to glance toward the little whelp, a look of concern on his face, "If you will excuse me." He said, giving a nod of his head to Eyphah and Grrel before walking toward the little, curled up Dovaa whelp.

He shifted form to his more humanoid one, knowing that it was something that Nehelini found a little less intimidating, before scooping the boy up to hug him against his chest, "Shhh, it will be alright." He said, patting the much smaller boy's back in what he hoped was a soothing manner. He was careful about it, knowing that he was much bigger then the little Dovaa. He pushed up to his feet, rocking the boy in his arms, before asking of Grrel, "You didn't happen to notice if there were any of the 'Dovaa' about in the area, did you?" With this one's family still being unaccounted for Tallulah really didn't know what to do with him. He supposed that they could keep him, raise him, but he didn't know how well that would go over with him. Offering to take him in would be the same as counting his family as gone, not something that Tallulah wanted to do, not yet anyway, not without a thorough search at least.

Suluksati
Aedaun Alikhovan, Feral Battler
Maralan Area to Open Ocean

41 luk, with the Jiji hunt

Current Loot:
+ 135 EXP
x 30 Iron Bars
x 6 Plain Cloth

Quote:
Prompt: The Barrier is too powerful for Sulu to break alone. She will need to find help to make a large enough hole in the Barrier to get through! She can figure this out if she takes a minute to think and probe the barrier with her magic. It is the work of several mages (Orderite it seems since her magic almost resonates with it).
What does she do when she realizes this?
If she tries to fight break it again, more Mara come out to face her. (2 minimum)

(Battling: 2x Dark Mage mara, 91-100; Loss x 2)

Suluksati flew back on silent, yet furious, wings to the Maralan place, noting now the faint bubble -like outline of the dome in the air. She had to get through it to get in, that much was clear, and her ferocious claw strike had done little but cause her pain.

She snarled, a nasal sound that reverberated as she gathered her magic to her mouth. The glow, blocked by her jaw, almost blinded her as her magic gelled together into a ball of light. With a roar, she fired it off.

The ball of brilliant light, mirroring the sun above, slammed into the encasing bubble, making it shimmer and shake and, almost, resonate. She backwinged, circling around for another go, murmuring in surprise.

There had been an opening.

She roared, firing off a beam of magic, then circled around for another shot, just to be sure.

Yes. It was. Her magical attacks were making an opening where they hit, a crack in the solid defense. They closed up soon after, but perhaps she could keep them open longer, or widen the crack enough to slip thorugh.

She charged in, sending another roared beam of light ahead of her to strike the barrier with a ringing, off - key, not - quite - beautiful sound. She cloaked her claws in magic and grabbed at the shimmering, shifting opening that appeared in the unreality of the barrier, grasping it with her claws and trying to pry it open like the carapace of a very difficult beast. It was monstrously strong and resisted her with an almost unbearable pressure. As she struggled against it, though, she could feel it give, bit by bit, and she poured more magic into her paws as, with a roar, she strained harder against it. The crack widened with a sound that was as much feeling as noise, reverberating through her arms and into her tail. She bared her teeth and shoved harder, the crack widening reluctantly. It was nearly big enough to put her head through, but before she could try, a sharp pain erupted in her side, and her concentration broke. With an audible crack, like a thunderclap, the crack closed, and she was flung back and away, tumbling, her wings struggling to right herself.

She had barely managed to regain control of her flight when a bolt of dark energy lashed by her, sinuous and eerie. Other bolts followed, and she rolled in the air to dodge them, hovering briefly to assess.

Two mara, blacker than black, stood watching her, their magic darkening the air around them to a thick, semi - solid twilight. She hissed at them, forming a ball of light in her mouth before sending at them. She knew, even before they moved out of the way, that she had missed, and swooped down at them before it struck the sandy ground below in a shattering of sparkling light. She struck at them with a paw, feeling the hard stone contact her bare claws. Her magic shimmered around her paw, repairing it as she flapped hard for altitude. More mara began to appear from the complex, swarming towards her like giant stone vispiri, and she screamed her fury as one of the dark mara wrapped a tendril of magic around her hindlegs. She kicked at it as it became taut, the mara attempting to drag her into the group to destroy her.

She would not be caught and trapped. She refused to die that way. With a shrieked dragonic word of pure defiance, she turned herself into a ball of brilliant light. The restraining dark magic slipped away from her, dissolving as she streaked away...
