NAME : Tsetsiliya Pavlova (Цецилия Павлова)
ALIAS : Tset usually, or whatever her name happens to be shortened to, she's heard a lot of them
AGE : 13
GENDER : Female
POWERS : Pyrokinesis
AURA : Pink with an accent of green, that remains tightly constricted to much of her body. It has a tendency to radiate from her chest and head (with her desire to reach out to others and make connections, but her anxieties are always high), and the color is slightly dimmed with a medium to high frequency of noise.
FONT COLOR : #EAC965

PERSONALITY : Tsetsiliya is as nervous and mousy as they come, with an underlying desire to prove her mettle. She is very aware that she is not living up to her family's expectations because of it, but she is trying very hard to surmount her nervous disposition. Years of bullying are making that difficult, however. At the worst of times she is a pushover who is naturally intimidated by strong personalities, while being simultaneously drawn to them. She tends to be clingy to friends, then becomes increasingly paranoid that she is annoying them, which creates a vicious cycle of sorts in her psyche. If one can look beyond that, one will find that she is a loving, earnest girl - just one who is overeager to please.

It takes a lot to push her to the point where she will lash out at others. Things such as meddling with her stuff or getting into her business are good triggers, and at such a point she will get highly upset and go into a rage fit to make any spoiled child proud. She would rather bottle her anger and keep it to herself than complain every other second. In her mind, it may be a good thing she does, because she has a lot she could gripe about if she were a little less stubborn about solving her own problems. She has been made aware of her weaknesses quite often, and as such she is very protective of them. Any critiques or offhanded comments that sound like critiques are met with a short, irate reply. When she is especially intimidated by something, she'll fluster around trying to find a solution, and snap at those who try to fix her issue themselves. She is independent and believes that if something is her problem, then it is exclusively hers to deal with - a behavior resulting from years of raised hopes and disappointment from her parents, and refined by being bullied in school. Tsetsiliya does not want to be seen as a burden to anyone and will continue to deal with her own emotional baggage on her own until she reaches a critical meltdown, locks herself in her room for a day or two, and comes back out feeling a little more under control. She is also highly claustrophobic and does not do well in small rooms; her powers begin to fluctuate as her stress levels increase.

While not necessarily dumb, she lacks street smarts and common sense at times due to a sheltered, rich upbringing. She is also a little on the forgetful side, and has a hard time keeping names and faces down. She may get it wrong the first three times, but she will do her best to get it right the fourth time. Because of this, she has some difficulty studying, but she manages to make decent grades through pure stubbornness and her reluctance to quit. She is determined to try, even if something intimidates her. Making friends? Tsetsiliya will try, even though it sets her knees quaking at the thought of it. She does want to make friends, it just takes her a while, seeing as she is wary of kindness given out of the blue. Once she has gleaned the giver's intentions, she will bask in it, glowing with pride when she does receive it and constantly stumbling over herself to continue to impress (to mixed results).

Tsetsiliya is a rather private individual but she does keep up with a number of hobbies. She loves being active and is in constant need of keeping her mind occupied; an idle mind is wasted, she believes. She enjoys taking walks or runs, being a fairly decent sprinter. Gardening is her main passion though and the thing that brings her the most happiness. Despite the pristine condition of her clothing, Tsetsiliya is not afraid to get her dress dirty, and enjoys growing a number of flowers and plants. She has helped make the gardens at their home even lovelier, through much trial and error, and her bedroom looks like a miniature greenhouse with all the windowbox planters and pots.

APPEARANCE : Tsetsiliya is porcelain pale, her skin white enough to suggest that she would burn in the slightest presence of the sun. Her corncob yellow hair is straight and thick, reaching to her lower back. The bangs are choppily cut, which somewhat ruins what could have been a more elegant hairstyle. If she needs it out of the way, she wears it in a long, loose braid or in a bun. Perhaps most off-putting about her appearance are her opalescent eyes, which are a milky pale pinkish lavender - they give off the vibe that she is not entirely at home (which may also be the case, since she prefers to wander in her own thoughts). Her face is ovular and her entire body radiates the nervousness and tension she feels around others, where she's often hunched over just a little bit, crossing her arms over her stomach with her small hands clasped, or playing with her hair. She is overall rather petite, standing at only 5'1", with little to no development just yet (her mother expects her to be a late bloomer).

Clothing-wise, Tsetsiliya dresses somewhat conservatively but decidedely feminine. She overheats very easily so breezy clothing is her go-to. She likes any shade of white or beige, as well as harvest colors. Skirts are a favorite of hers, with a preference for longer skirts, and she likes shawls. Her grandmother on her father's side sends her hand-made shawls from Russia quite often.

Tsetsiliya's family is old money from Slavic lands, comfortably settled in the American south (Georgia, specifically). Katya and Sergei had high hopes for their child, who would hopefully become a lovely young debutante capable of handling the strains of high society, much as they were. However, the child cowered at the overbearing responsibility on her shoulders. Being sequestered away and tutored privately kept her from meeting others of her own age group, which partially accounted for her shyness. She spent much of her formative years never straying too far from her family's property, which included vast caches of land where she would go walking or riding (and eventually follow the estate gardener around to learn how to garden herself). The question of school was always bandied about at the dinner table but quietly dismissed, for Katya was not quite eager enough to let her shy child go off to a private school (and not foolish enough to send her to public school). There was still the hope that she would grow out of her quiet demeanor in the drawing room of some acquaintance or another, given the right companion, but that hope never came to fruition. Tsetsiliya found more company in plants than with people, a fact that her mother reminded her was highly unhealthy. The growing disappointment her parents had in her and the pressure to change into a more outgoing person honed Tsetsiliya into the shy girl she is, but touched it up with a thirst to prove herself to her parents and show that she could handle herself and her own shortcomings. Much of her early anxieties consisted of avoiding being seen as a let-down or a burden, but it was a fight she could not always win: the praise from one good piano recital was quickly squandered by an embarrassing trip up at a dinner. Luckily her maternal grandmother played as an antithesis to her mother's dramatic nature, and spoiled the young girl in gifts of her favorite plants as well as trips to see her favorite cousin Pawel, who was eight years her senior (and very fond of the girl). Katya and Sergei felt a little dubious about her clinging to Pawel, since trouble seemed to follow anywhere he went - once or twice in the form of small brush fires on the estate (Pawel claimed to be frying ants with a magnifying glass), but Nadya felt that Pawel would never put his youngest cousin in harm's way intentionally. All the same, she stayed nearby in case any serious trouble arose; if anything, to stop Katya's groaning and complaints about her daughter's "corruption" if "left unsupervised".

The years passed quietly though, and soon enough Katya's former alma mater in Massachusetts, St. Natalina's Academy, came calling with the request to take her daughter on for junior high and high school. The headmistress assured her parents that all would be well - anything to keep the hefty donation the missus gave yearly. She would turn Tsetsiliya into the perfect young debutante, ready for her debut to high society at the age of sixteen. At the age of twelve, she was packed onto a train and sent from her comfortable Georgia home to chilly Massachusetts, where she felt more unsure and more alone than she ever had before. Clover House, her assigned dormitory building, would become her second family, so the RA told her.

Hazing was something Tsetsiliya narrowly avoided. A few short days before term was to start, she overheard a few of the eighth grade girls discussing what was to befall the new sixth graders of Clover House, involving their hair being cut and the girls having to walk from the woods back to the dorm building without clothing in the freezing cold. Panic tightened her throat and for the next several nights, she lingered in the shadows of the other dorms after dark, shivering from fear and cold, but at least she had a coat. She had tried to mention it to the other new girls in her dorm but none had believed her, thinking hazing was something that happened in colleges and sororities, not boarding schools. At last, she saw the girls marched out into the woods and knew that the hazing was commencing, and when she went to the RA to bring it up (disturbing the young twenty-something from her sleep), she grumpily replied that it was probably just a house meeting in the woods and that she was likely overreacting. "It's a way of life around here, you'll get used to it," she mumbled as she shut the door in her face.

The young girls who came back were not the same as they had been, and were now bound by their secret shame to their "sisters" of sorts. They were bitter at Tsetsiliya for not suffering with them, and the eighth grade girls had noted her absence. To make up for her negligence in attending their rite of passage, Tsetsiliya became the target of their malice. Pushed into lockers and called names one day, the next day the lock on her door was broken. Items went missing, personal items found displayed in public places for the world to see. Her two potted plants that had accompanied her were thrown from the window one day, and her down comforter was ripped open one day, feathers covering her room. Tsetsiliya did not understand what was going on, nor did she know how to address it. It was her problem she had to deal with, and given how reluctant other people were to help or even to believe her, she likely would not receive the assistance she wanted or needed.

She began to hate her classes, and fear coming home in the evening. Her grades dropped drastically. She spent the days she cut class in her dorm room, and the evenings walking the grounds to avoid the familiar faces of Clover House, but in the end they always found her, and the treatment varied from bad to worse. She wanted to prove to her parents that she could handle being on her own, so she bottled up all of the negativity around her. The desire to prove herself as a capable person out ruled any desire to seek help, so she stubbornly dealt with what transpired. But at times, her emotions became too overwhelming, and strange things would happen. Her plant's heat lamps burst one day after she had been barricaded in a bathroom stall for thirty minutes by the other girls, and the resulting sparks had lit the rug on fire. The RA extinguished the fire and called the superintendent, who took one look at Tsetsiliya's current grades and attendance record and suspended her for a week for her destructive tendencies. Her parents were furious with the school's decision, but the superintendent insisted such discipline was necessary. Tsetsiliya would likely learn her lesson and never do it again. Both parents calmed and left their daughter to the school's care - Tsetsiliya, on the other hand, became more despondent as her parents edged away and left her in this strange, far-off school to fend for herself. The letters between her and her grandmother were the only thing that helped her to hang on. Letters and phone calls came in from the school, talking of Tsetsiliya's class cutting, her unwillingness to answer questions, and both parents were concerned that they had chosen the wrong institution for their daughter. The superintendent insisted that she needed only a little more time, and private lessons were given to the girl, but nothing helped to coax her out of her shell. She was encouraged to divulge the names of the bullies, but she stubbornly refused because it was her problem to deal with, and partially out of fear of retaliation. Her parents gave her a stern warning to shape up herself, and that it was her last chance. Tsetsiliya felt at a loss for words - none of the faculty cared enough to do more about the bullying than keep an eye on her housemates (who knew the ropes and how to play innocent), and her parents were radiating their disappointment. Her grandmother was her sole means of support, and encouraged her in her letters: "Hold on, my child, it's only for a little while. I'll think of something."

The older girls of Clover House became wary under the heightened surveillance and decided that they had to punish Tsetsiliya more firmly for her misbehavior. The band of three or four eighth graders lay in wait for her as she left the office of her English professor in the early evening (discussing her missed classes and lowered grades, when he had seen her grades before and knew she was capable of doing better). Knowing of the girl's hatred of small spaces and the recently commenced dinner hour (followed by the shut down of the school halls for the evening, when security was lax), they locked her in a tightly packed supply closet and intended to leave her there overnight. The younger girls, too scared to look out for anyone but themselves, cowed their heads and did as they were told, and shuffled off with the rest.

Tsetsiliya's panic rose to a frenzy, but none came to help her as she pounded on the door and screamed to be let out. Her chest started to hurt and her vision was becoming hazy with frightened tears. The room felt so hot, so small, so very closed off.. and then the light bulb burst in a rain of flames and glass. The flames ignited the mops, the paper towels, and eventually the chemicals, which caused an explosion in the small space that blew the door and walls open. The classroom next door ignited, the ceiling of the small closet collapsed and Tsetsiliya was trapped beneath the debris. When a beam dislodged, it struck her on the head, and she eventually passed out.

She came to a short time later, to the noise of fire department sirens and police and EMTs (all called by the English professor, who was on the other side of the building at the time). Even more blurry were the events of the next few days, where her superintendent accused her of arson and threatened to take it to the police, and her parents showed up (her grandmother currently on vacation elsewhere), torn between fury at what she had supposedly done and concern for her health after the accident. Both offered a hefty sum to avoid pressed charges, but the investigation proved the claim inconclusive anyway, as evidence showed the fire to have started from the light socket. That did not quell the superintendent's rage, and Tsetsiliya was expelled and returned home with her parents. The house maintained a frosty silence for the embarrassment the family has suffered, and Tsetsiliya felt the disappointment so keenly that she soon rarely left her room.

Two weeks following the incident, her grandmother returned home with a surprising guest in tow - Tsetsiliya's English teacher from St. Natalina's Academy. Nadya had gotten word from their butler Josef about the events that had transpired and had taken a detour on her return trip home to do some looking into the incident herself. While the superintendent was cold to her, the English professor happened to be in the faculty office and met with her to discuss the happenings. There were some things that troubled him about the arson charges, culminating most of all in her appearance once she was rescued from the remains of the closet: barely anything remained of the closet itself, but aside from hair and clothing being badly singed, Tsetsiliya's injuries were all due to falling debris - there were no burns on her body, no loss of consciousness from smoke inhalation (but rather from a dislodged beam). With further prying, there was a certain feeling he had around her.. and with further, sharper questioning, he revealed to her grandmother about his aura reading ability, and how he had not picked up on it right away, but something had seemed amiss with her, and after said events had transpired, he might know what that was.

Nadya and the teacher sat down with her parents and discussed the plan they had hammered out on the plane ride - her teacher believed that Tsetsiliya might possess some psychic abilities. Her parents scoffed at the notion as pure nonsense, but rather than give him a moment to explain, it was Nadya who explained that it was not Pawel who had set those brush fires - the boy never carried a magnifying glass on his person, preferring the feeling of a soccer ball in his hands to that of other things. He had merely taken responsibility for it because the younger Tsetsiliya had become so overwhelmed by fear of what her parents would do that he took pity on her. Sergei and Katya scoffed again, until Nadya revealed that she had seen these events transpire herself - and at that, the couple went quiet, as Katya knew that her mother was no liar. What would the next move be? Both of her parents were uncertain - if she had such "abilities," she was dangerous, was she not? The professor nodded, and merely offered two business cards. "I graduated a few years ago from the Majesco Academy, and they are geared to help people like her - like me," he added. "If you are not ready to put her in the school, then may I suggest trying her at the summer camp first?" Nadya only agreed to the notion, explaining that if this really was a fluke, then only a few months would be wasted - that gave her parents enough time to sort out what they would do with their daughter next in terms of education. Money was not a question, as Nadya had already agreed to foot the expenses of the camp. And if Murmuring Pines was what it claimed to be, then Tsetsiliya could gain control of her new-found abilities and events like this could remain in the past. She could enroll at Majesco Academy in the fall if the camp proved successful.

It was with that that Nadya knocked on her granddaughter's door, and told her to pack her things again - she was going to summer camp.

NAME : Casimir
AGE : 2 years
SPECIES : Bull terrier
POWERS : Empathy

APPEARANCE : Casimir is fully grown, reaching to just above Tsetsiliya's knees. His coat is white, with patches of dark brown over one eye, his back, and his tail. His eyes are a jaunty brown.

PERSONALITY : Casimir is a ball of energy - always cheerful and ready to play, but never aggressive. He is attached to his master Tsetsiliya at the hip, and follows her all around the grounds when she is home from school. During her time away, his playful demeanor takes a bit of a nosedive and he pines at her closed door quite regularly. Whenever she returns, he rushes to her as though he has not seen her for years.

He is a runner to match Tsetsiliya, and accompanies her on her walks and runs on the family cache of land. He is almost exclusively devoted to her (with the rest of her family following after), and can get very protective should a stranger come to the house, so he is often locked in her room when guests are expected. If there was any major complaint from his master, it would be his affinity for digging into and chewing up her flower garden.

HISTORY : Casimir was given to Tsetsiliya as an early Christmas gift from her grandmother, who purchased him from a breeder friend of hers. She thought that a dog would do Tsetsiliya some good and give her something to invest in outside of the hobbies her mother forced upon her. While at first a little intimidated by the active puppy, Tsetsiliya warmed to him quickly given his relentless attention to her. As he spent most of his time while Tsetsiliya was away locked up, his owner has hopes to stretch his legs and get him active again, as he has gained quite a few pounds from his unwanted incarceration.

Tsetsiliya shares the second set of beds in Willow Cabin One with Juniper Bee, and has the top bunk. She uses the camp-provided blanket and pillows, but has brought a couple of photos from home to tape to the wall behind her bed. She has not decorated much yet, but she hopes to make friends and take many more pictures to add to her wall. Casimir sleeps on the floor in a cushy green dog bed brought from home.
