Afzal Bashir
Life StoryBorn Layali Bashir, he never felt quite right with his place in life as a female. Defiant his assigned sex, Afzal began wrapping his chest and refusing to answer unless referred to by his chosen name. This raised controversy, not only due to the slow progression of LGBT acceptance in her home community, but also due to his position as the daughter of an important house. Marrying off one's daughter to a rival house to ensure support was easy, but trying to persuade the house to send one of their daughters to a man who could bare no children was another matter entirely. Choosing to spare his family the complication, Afzal renounced his title and fled the region. Living in the west was less difficult, but still he had trouble settling in. Humans, he found, were not nearly as accepting as they liked to make themselves out to be. After an especially harsh issue with employment, and a few discrimination law suits later, Afzal met the charming and devious Nicolo, an employee of the law firm that handled his case and an individual who was not nearly as human as he seemed. After a minor fling, the two settled into an easy friendship. When Nicolo spoke of moving, originally the marid decided to hang back after securing a new job in the city.
While his new job was well paying, and management was supportive and understanding, one coworker was not. After several filings of harassment mysteriously went missing under the eye of the district manager, Afzal felt cornered and handed in his two weeks notice. The harassment increased dramatically, ending in a full on fist fight on his way home from his last day. After spending an uncomfortable night in holding after being shoved in with the women, he decided that it was high time to get out of the city. As soon as his ex-coworker received sentencing, Afzal was already packed and on the first flight to Janhall, having already arranged to move in with Nicolo after his notice of departure was filed.
