█ ▌Titans

For those new to the Attack on Titan series, a titan is a large humanoid giant that devours people. They first made their appearance 107 years ago and nearly decimated the entire human race's population.

█ ▌Size

The most noticeable titan trait is their size, by which the military classifies them. Seeing as nobody is 3DMGing with measuring tape, estimates are often given when describing a titan, ex.: "An 8-14 meter class titan has set foot on Carla street." The smallest titans are approximately 3 meters tall, and the largest about 15 meters tall.

Smaller titans (3-5m) can enter through smaller gaps and be more agile in tighter spaces, such as tunnels and buildings. Anything over 3m class is too big to duck into doors and crawl through large windows, though a 4m may be able to crawl through a door, and a 5m to reach into it though not as far as a bigger titan. They have the strength to break through glass and wood, but not the brick and stone of some buildings. It is possible for a human to reach their critical weakness in the nape of their neck without the use of a 3DMG.

Mid-range titans (6-10m) begin to tower over buildings, and are stronger with a longer reach than their smaller brethren. At this point it is very difficult and unlikely for a human to be able to reach their nape without the aid of 3DMG.

The largest titans (11-15m) are rarer than the other types but they tower at the level of or even taller than multi-story buildings. They are strong enough to break through rock should they make a dedicated or accidentally high momentum motion.

█ ▌Anatomy

Titans resemble humans, at least in appearance; they have skeletons, muscles, and most of the time, skin. Skinless and partially skinned titans may occur, exposing muscle. They also have two arms, two legs and a head (which often has hair) complete with eyes, a nose, and a mouth. However, their features are more often disproportionate than not. Limbs can be shortened, elongated, or twisted in awkward manners.

Titans below 8m usually have enlarged heads, with titans above that height going the opposite way to increasingly disproportionately smaller heads. Most titans have massive, powerful jaws, and they can appear to be of any age or build from a skin and bones elder, muscular baby and middle-aged sumo wrestler are all possible things a titan can resemble.

A marked difference between titan and human anatomy is that titans lack genitals; it is unknown how and if they can reproduce.

█ ▌Physiology

For all their human appearance, titans do not share much else. When damaged, a titan simply regenerates, even entire limbs if needed. Such a process produces steam where exposure to oxygen occurs. It is unknown why titan blood evaporates, but it does make for an easier laundry day. When part of a titan's body is severed or the titan dies, it evaporates into steam.

Titan flesh is surprisingly lightweight compared to a human's, as befits a creature of its agility despite its size. A small severed titan's arm has been described as weighing "almost nothing".

Titans do not appear to require nourishment; for all the 100 years humans have been confined to the Walls, titans have survived outside without eating. They also do not appear to gain any nourishment from eating humans as they regurgitate corpses once their stomachs fill.

Titans are less active at night, suggesting that sunlight serves as their power source.

█ ▌Weakness

The only known way of killing a titan is by carving a deep incision into the base of the nape of their neck.
