Ears down, Joe shuffled into his apartment. He dropped his helmet onto the floor without looking up and headed to the fridge for a coke. Protoman was dead. He still couldn't believe the strange audio's words from the diner. What was he going to do now? Without the inside help Proto had been slipping him, he wasn't sure if he could perfect his disguise and if any other robot master discovered him, what then? He was fairly certain they wouldn't willingly let him get away.

Shame that Joe had gone into the kitchen without so much as a look around. There were a few things not quite right with the apartment.
For one, the window was open...unless maybe he had left it open. Maybe that was ordinary...
The biggest difference though was a mysterious Audio sitting on his couch. The stranger had laid a coat over the furniture before deciding to sit on it. Now he rested, feet up on Joe's coffee table...along with one very familiar red helmet.

Retrieving a soda from the fridge, Joe took a swig before turning around....and promptly spitting soda all over the floor. Who the hell was this?! Was that.....Protoman's helmet?? "Wait what??" Stepping closer, Joe peered at the prone figure on the couch. It did..kinda...look like him..but why wasn't he moving. Was he..dead? Joe waved a hand in front of his glasses, hoping for a response.

Well...he had definitely been in a fight. His arm was in a sling, there was a note for your journal Joe. Robots could apparently wear slings. Then again, there were already some good notes in your journal Joe, enjoy those. Unfortunately it was rather hard to tell when a bot was online or offline. No breathing meant nothing to really check. But, as Joe waved in front of his glasses, they slid down a bit to reveal that Proto's eyes were closed. ...-And- he looked rather relaxed. Dead? No....he was asleep.

Joe breathed a sigh of relief as he realized the bot was only asleep. Good. Imagine if Wily's bots caught him with their general's body. Man that would be bad. But holy s**t! He was alive!!! The rebels needed to know! And for proof he'd just snap a quick picture. Hmm...may as well get himself in there to show the ladies that he really DID know the general. Leaning down next to Proto's prone form, he grinned up at his phone. Smile and say selfie~ Snap!

In a matter of seconds quite a few things happened.
Proto's eyes snapped open. Despite being mostly covered by his glasses still, the light hit what was exposed and caused the bot to hiss. Welp, he had woken up in quite a bad mood.
He immediately jerked his bad arm to fix his glasses out of reflex, which caused another hiss and a slight yelp of pain. Damnit. Well, he had another hand, so that one went to push the glasses up and fully cover his eyes again.
That fixed, he could reopen his eyes and...what the hell was going on?! Proto snarled, quickly flipping over to -sit- on Joe and wrap his good hand around his throat.
Yes....he had definitely woken up in a bad mood, and at the moment didn't have the faintest clue what was going on. Scrambled memories tended to do that to someone.

Joe choked, gasping for breath as the air was crushed out of him not only by Proto's vice-like grip but the weight of the robot's body. "I'm...sorry," he managed to squeak out, hoping the apology would be enough to waylay the general's wrath. Note to self, robots don't like their pictures taken.

Proto blinked a few times...not that Joe could tell. The snarl died in his throat as he realized just -what- he was doing. ...Well s**t.
The bot released him, moving to roll back -off- of Joe and fall back into his earlier position of sitting on the couch. Proto grunted, trying to shift his injured arm back into a comfortable position.
"You startled me." Perfectly good reason to choke someone. Okay?

Startled?? He STARTLED Proto into choking him to death??? "Remind me never to throw you a surprise party," Joe choked, climbing to his feet. He rubbed his sore throat, eying the wounded general. "What happened to you anyway? A guy said he killed you."

Proto just -groaned-, leaning his head back against the couch cushions.
"He is a fool if he thought he could offline me so easily. He injured me...yes, but I'm -far- from dead."
There was a moment's pause.
"....But I -could- use an E-tank...and since you're a robot and all I'm sure you have one around, don't you? Not that you look like much without your helmet."
Yes, he knew he had his off too. Shut up.

"Hey what about you? You look all....normal....well except for those ears. Do all robots have little ears like that? I guess they'd be easier to get under the helmet," Joe mused. His own were often sore after a day in disguise. If they all had ears like that, maybe they couldn't hear very well! That'd be important information for his report.

"....Of course I look normal. I was built to be a combat bot....but also one that looked and acted like everyone else. Superior AI, to fit in with others... ....And no, not everyone has small ears like mine."
-Ugh- AGAIN with the ears. Everyone just loved pointing those out. Or -biting- them in the case of a certain fin-headed robotic a*****e.
PS he could hear just fine Joe.
"So...about that e-tank."

"Hmph....I'm uh...fresh out. Guess you'll have to head back to the tower." It was more than a little freaky that the General of Wily's army knew where he lived now that he thought about it. "Why are you here, anyway? And how'd you find me?"

"I am here because I needed a break from things going on at the Tower...which is the same reason I sadly cannot head back there right this second to get an E-tank. So...."
He tilted his head slightly at Joe, and was -definitely- staring at him underneath that visor. Come now Joe, didn't you want to be a good host?
"All that I've done for you, I'm pretty sure you can spare a moment to go get an E-tank now can't you? Unless, of course, you're just like all the -other- Citizens who don't wish to help me...it's such a common theme in my life."
Hrmph.
"...And it was easy enough to find you, you might want to check your bike."
The one that may or may not have a giant blinking red light on the back of it from the tracking device Proto had planted on it.

His bike? What did he do to his bike?? Joe needed to go check and he guessed he could pick up an E-tank from the store across the street while he was out. "Fiiinnneee," Joe grumped. He did sort of owe him. "I'll be right back." He headed for the door with a flick of his tail. "Don't touch anything."
