It was in an extremely good mood that afternoon that Ashe made her way through the city, weaving through alleyways and back streets, and whistling only slightly off-key to herself.

She’d (finally!) got a reply to one of her flyers, a request to meet at an address in an area she was only vaguely familiar with and not much information besides that, but hey, work is work! The fact that the fliers were working was itself worth something- once word started getting around, she was sure she’d be so in demand she’d have a hard time keeping up with all the jobs flooding in! The thought alone was enough to have her laughing happily to herself as she walked (and probably convincing anyone she passed that she was slightly nuts, but there you go).

Her delusions daydreams of grandeur made the trip pass quickly, and in no time she found herself at her destination. The address in question turned out to be an unremarkable apartment building, on a street that looked like the fires had taken particular spite against it. A quick look around didn’t reveal much in the way of activity in the area, but a quick glance at the note she had shoved in her belt pouch confirmed that this was in fact the correct address, so with one last look around the dreary street she approached the building.

There didn’t seem to be a doorbell or working intercom of any sort, which wasn’t really all that surprising considering the general state of the area- wasn’t high on the reconstruction priority list of the powers-that-be, that’s for sure. Shrugging, she double checked the address one last time, then raised her hand and knocked firmly on the front door.

”Hellooooooo there! Anyone home?”

Sorry its late...Muse just now gave me this

The blue audio had managed to find a couch...or at least the remains of one a few rooms down. He knew the people there were long gone, they said farewell at the graveside of his parents. He had slid it home not to long ago and was napping on it before going out to find something to eat. He jolted up...not scared by the sudden noise at all...really...

Seven blinked then after rising opened the door to the female. He raised an eyebrow then mentally reminded himself of the flyers, 'oh s**t..results?!?' he stepped back and gave her a smile, "Hey there cutie...what are you here for?"

She’d spent the few moments after she knocked flicking dust from her clothes and schooling her expression into a calm, professional smile fit to greet a potential client with. The smile held up admirably as the door opened to reveal a guy with really wild colored eyes- right up until his greeting, which startled a short laugh out of her, followed by a far more genuine grin.

“Cutie! Well, don’t you know how to talk to a lady.” Still grinning, she held her hand out to the male to shake. “Ruin Hunter Ashe, pleasure to meet you.”

“I got a message asking me to come out here on a job- are you the guy I’m looking for? The details were pretty sparse, I don’t have a name or anything, just this address-“ She paused to dig the note out of her belt again, smoothing out the crumpled corners and quickly checking the numbers again out of habit. “-and I’m not all that familiar with this area, so I guess I’m hoping that I’ve got the right place, and haven’t just made an a** of myself?”

SwordOfTheDarkOnes
Haha, don’t worry about it. I’m not a fast writer at all, so you never have to apologize to me for taking a while. xD

Also, Ashe here is the height of professionalism, if you couldn’t tell. *shot* xD

The male smiled bigger, "Yeah...Godfather taught me a few things." He took in her words and couldn't help the little fist pump, "Oh gods, finally! The name's Seven...is that the note you were given or did you write that yourself?"

If she didn't Seven could deduce who sent her his way, chances are his Godfather did something or someone else did...

She laughed again at his little fist pump and words of outright relief. “You sure make a girl feel appreciated too, Seven. Seems like he’s a good teacher.” At least it seemed she had the right place now - and even if she didn’t, it sounded like he’d have some work for her anyways, so at this point, who cares? “And yeah, this is the note I got, left in a PO box I rent downtown- it’s how my fliers say to get in touch.” She handed the paper over for him to examine if he wanted- true to her earlier words, there wasn’t anything on it except the address, and a short sentence asking her to meet there regarding work.

She rocked forward on her toes slightly, with a tilt of her head she thought was subtle, to peer over Seven’s shoulder the best she could to get a look past him- she couldn’t see much of the inside, but what little she could glimpse looked like there had been some fixes done, if the miserable state of the rest of the street was any indication anyways. If he was fixing the place up from that sort of damage, there were probably lots of materials and stuff he’d need- man, this could be a great gig. “Anyways, she went on, grin widening, “Since the message doesn’t have much to say on it, how about we talk about what I can find for you?”

Seven looked down at the note, yup there in his Godfather's spidery handwriting was his address....he blinked. Smiling to himself as the elder male was always looking out for him. He looked back up at her, knowing he had to keep being nice...she was still pleasant after all. He stepped back, "Come in...I got one room i need the most help with..."

He looked at the dreaded Kitchen...

She grinned and gave him a jaunty salute as she was invited in. ”Lead on!” she chirped, following after him into the apartment- now that she could get a better look, it actually looked like he’d got quite a bit done. It was certainly liveable, anyways, if not lavishly furnished.

And then she saw the ‘kitchen’. She gave a long, low whistle as her eyes scanned across the room, and scratched idly at one of her ears. ”Yeaaaaaah, I can see you’ve got some work ahead of you here.” She gave the room a second, more thorough look without stepping further in, and hummed thoughtfully. ”So, are there any specific things you’re looking for right away, or are we gonna have to get in here a bit and see if anything’s still good?”

Seven scratched the back of his head, "Not really. The kitchen was always simple, Ma wasn't a big cook but she loved to bake." He crossed his arms, "She wanted to get it upgraded...so...i guess a few upgrades here and there would be nice." He walked into the once tiled section of the open floor plan. He winced at the sound of breaking tile, "Yeah...new floor is a must. All I can see is that the counter may still be in good---" he tapped the nearby counter blinking as it caved in half, "-----scratch that. I don't think anything's savable here."

She couldn’t quite help letting out a snicker as the counter caved under his hands- that timing couldn’t have been better if he’d tried. Composing herself slightly, she followed him further into the room with less careful steps- he’d pretty much just said that there wasn’t anything in here she could break that wasn’t already wrecked. “Well, starting from scratch has its benefits? You can lay it out however you want, and don’t have to worry about matching old stuff.” She shrugged slightly- at least that was a bit of a bright side to the utter wreck before them?

Stepping up next to him, she started examining some of the debris as she shifted it around. Yeah, unfortunately most all of it looked like garbage. The pieces of the cracked countertop were still large enough that they might be of use to someone, but they probably wouldn’t work for Seven’s project. Maybe she’d try to score them as part of her fee, and resell them for a few extra bucks.

Taking a couple steps back, she looked over the entirety of the room again with a determined huff. ”Well, yup, this will indeed be a big job. So, let’s make a shopping list!” She pulled a small notepad out of the pocket on her sleeve and a pen from one of her belt pouches, and flipped to a blank page. ”So, It looks like you’ve been working on the rest of the place already, yeah? That means you must have a way of getting at least some stuff yourself- any of that we’ll leave off my list.” She hummed, tapping the pen against her cheek idly as she thought. “What’s your highest priority then, and we’ll start there? Are you going to work on any structural stuff first, or do you need to be able to make food in here ASAP?”

To be honest, she didn’t think much food would be happening in here for a while, but if it was super urgent she could probably come up with a stove of some sort for him at least on fairly short notice. Nicer salvaged appliances were harder to come by though, and usually needed parts replaced- there were a few places she knew she could look, but it’d still take time.

Seven nodded, "No food will be made in here just yet...I wanna get everything stable before i try that." he looked around, "Anything of sentiment i removed when I got back....so i guess you can take what you think you could reuse."

He crossed his arms as he looked at the female. He thought for a moment, "So I guess to answer your question. Structure first then pretty it up."

She nodded along- that was pretty reasonable logic. “Fair enough- probably the best way to go in the long run, as long as you have somewhere else to eat in the meantime.” She made a quick note in her book, then started two columns- one titled ‘sooner’ and the other ‘later’, as a reminder for what things to focus her search on when she got started.

And oh, awesome! She didn’t even have to wheedle to get him to let her scavenge. “Hey, thanks! Like you said, there’s not much left, but I can probably find a couple things that someone might be able to use. About half of whatever I manage to make I can turn around and put towards whatever I’m hunting down for you- I won’t just take stuff for free or anything.” She couldn’t put all of it towards his project- she had to make rent on time this month or the landlord would box her ears- but she wasn’t looking to rip him off. Seven seemed like a decent dude, and he had one hell of a project ahead of him- she wouldn’t be surprised if his budget was a little tight too at the moment.

She started a third column on her list, titled it ‘salvage’, and scribbled ‘countertop’ underneath- it remained to be seen if they’d uncover anything else of value, but she’d take note if they did. ”Anyways, I’ll admit that I don’t know too much about fixing structural stuff, just how to tell if a building’s likely to fall down on my head if I crawl in,“ And occasionally, she’d scuttle into those anyways- the sketchier a place looked, the less likely someone else had looted it first, after all. ”-So I’m counting on you here to give me an idea of what you’re going to need, if you can’t find it yourself. And then if we can move some of this stuff out of the way, I can take some measurements for things like the flooring and cabinets, and figure out how much you might need.” That sort of stuff- the ‘pretty it up’, as he’d put it- she was far better at planning, but if he needed the walls or ceilings reinforced she wasn't sure exactly what materials he’d be after, or how much it would take.

Seven chuckled, "I'm pretty hands on. Plus I've read a lot of books to help myself out. I don't like relying on others if I know I can do it myself. Finding things isn't my strong point. So, any help would be appreciated. As for your payment...you can salvage what you can outta here. Then feel free to look around the building. I know none of the other residents have come back..."

Seven was glad he was so close to the ground, only on the 2nd floor. He crossed his arms as he watched her, what the hell was she writing; "You actually taking notes?"

She laughed at his question, shaking her head slightly as she continued to write. “Dude, of course I’m taking notes. How else am I supposed to keep track of what I need to drag back here for you? My memory’s good, but not that good.” Ashe wrote down nearly everything, to be honest- inventory records, client names, grocery lists, random thoughts- her pockets were generally stuffed with papers covered in her near-illegible chicken scratch. Work stuff was just extra-important scribbles.

Hmm… He was alone in the building though? That was actually really promising. She paused for a long moment, staring thoughtfully up at the ceiling as though she wanted to see clear through it to the other apartments. He’d said that she could comb through the place for her fee (huge score!), but if all the units were similar, maybe she could find at least some of the stuff for this job? Successful retrieval without even leaving the building- that’d be a record, even for her.

“So, hey… Has anyone else been through the rest of the building yet, that you know of? And just how similar are all the apartments?”

Seven chuckled, "Fair enough." he then blinked at her, "Nope. Each apartment was slightly different from the others. All apartments facing the street had the kitchens to the left of the door. All the apartments in the center of the building has the kitchen directly in front of the door, while the ones facing the back alley has the kitchen to the right of the door. Then, there was everyone's different tastes. There was a guy three floors up who liked gothic victorian...then a lady on the other side of the building who liked metallic's." he shrugged.

Well, that was a little unfortunate, but not all that surprising she supposed. “Hm, rats. Cookie-cutter units are easier to salvage, because everything’s so similar, but I guess we can’t have all the luck.” She shrugged slightly, obviously not all that concerned about it in the end. “Might still be able to find something you can use right here, but even if we can’t, I have a few things in my warehouse already that might work out for you.” Her ‘warehouse’ was actually just her extremely cluttered apartment- she couldn’t afford a separate space to keep valuable finds, so her daily life consisted of clambering over and around piles of assorted junk- but he didn’t really need to know that.

“Well then,“ she tilted her head to either side sharply- neck giving an audible ‘pop’- and tucked her notepad back into her pocket before shedding her jacket and tossing it towards the door, leaving her in a light vest- it was better for working in, the coat was a pain to wash if it got too dirty. “Can you give me a hand piling most of the trash away from the walls? Then I can start taking some measurements and figure out how much flooring you’ll need, and you can decide how you want to lay out the cabinets and stuff.”
