The vastness of the Library of Castellum Argentus is stunning upon first viewing. Even more impressive, however, is that the walls, from floor to ceiling, are lined with shelves which contain books from many generations back.

Dusty tomes on the history of the Silva Regia and her disparate courts are settled in bookstands set about the room. Long tables of polished mahogany crowd the center of the space, with comfortable chairs lining them. Newer shelves, perhaps built in the last generation before the curse, radiate out from the walls to contain newer documents, maps, and journals.

Large windows allow sunlight to pour in, each one with long drapes pulled off to the side with the symbol of the Sun Court embroidered in golden colored thread near the top of the drapes. Oil lamps, carefully tended to prevent fire disasters, are set along the tables for reading after the sun sets.

"You'll like it in here, dear," Eirnae says cheerfully as she guides Pappila by the hand, the butterfly winged toddler following along beside her as best as her little legs allow. "There are so many books in this one room, you won't be able to go through every one of them for years to come!" Well, perhaps that isn't entirely accurate in Pappila's case, but it is still a lot of books!

Pappila's eyes light up with excitement and she hops a couple steps instead of trying to fast walk them, her wings fluttering in concurance with her enthusiasm. That many books in one place? So very exciting!

Eirnae swings open one of the library's double doors and holds it open for Pappila, who quickly darts past the threshold of the doorway and into the library itself.

After which the small Fey stands awestruck, azure eyes wide and staring as she takes in the rows upon rows of books. If she were less dignified she would be slack jawed and drooling, but as things stand she is merely rooted to the spot with eyes almost as wide as tea saucers.

"Pretty impressive, eh?" Eirnae comments as she steps up behind her Fey, allowing the door to close behind her.

Pappila nods wordlessly, still too captivated to say anything just yet.

With a calm and gentle tone, Cervus' voice drifted out from behind one of the many stacks, his antlered head poking around the corner, a book in hand. He smiled as he murmured "My mother very much prided herself on the breadth and volume of the library, young Pappila. I do hope you enjoy it."

The Fey King's expression was mirthful as he rounded the stack fully, inclining his head to Eirnae in greeting. "Milady Natenhar, good to see you, as always. How is our young magius?"

Aesculus' gangly form slips in behind them quietly, and he wordlessly glides over to a section of the library in which he has found a few childlike tales from ancient times with allegories. He doesn't want to disturb the Kithain and her child during their tender moment, and he remembers that when Pappila ran away from his room during her visit she had yelled to him that she wasn't there.

To Eirnae, he might be acting rude... and of this he was aware, but he had a hard time convincing himself to do such a base thing as lie or use deceit to pretend he didn't know her Fey child. After all, all he needed from Rosa was something for her to hold up to her lofty dreams of him being a Fey of the Moon Court. Indeed!

Silly as it is, he also is trying to escape the prying eyes of Cervus. He knows it foolish to hide things from his liege and best friend, but he abhors the thought that he will be confronted on his illness... surely that loud-mouthed countess blabbered to him.

If Pappila's eyes were wide before, they were even wider now, if such a thing were possible. She quickly attempts a curtsey to Cervus, which turns out to be fairly graceful, if a bit jerky. "Greetings, Majesty," she says politely, but with a warmth she seems to reserve only for those she respects or cares for. She is proud of herself for ditching the less formal 'hello' for the word 'greetings', an echoing of Eirnae's usual greeting towards others.

As if out to prove that Pappila did in fact learn such from her, Eirnae offers the Fey King a half bow and a smile as she says, "Greetings to you, M'Lord. I had not expected to see you here at this hour, not that it isn't a delight for Pappila to make your renewed acquaintance." She pauses to look down at the top of Pappila's head as she replies to his question, "She is doing well. Pappila is learning at a very fast pace which astounds me no matter how often she exhibits it. Isn't that right, Pappila?"

Pappila doesn't answer right away, as she doesn't wish to sound vain in front of her monarch. Instead she takes a step forward towards Cervus and peeks at the book in his hand curiously, hoping to be able to read its title from where she is.

Eirnae is aware of Aesculus' entrance, and takes note of him going off to the side. She personally is not offended by the lack of greetings, though she is curious as to why a Fey Pappila professes to know would ignore her young Fey entirely. Hmm...perhaps he is the silent type.

Cervus' smile seems to widen further at the sight of his dearest friend. "Aesculus, it is good to see you. Come join us, will you? This is young Pappila's first visit to the library, and I can think of no finer or better educated Fey to show it to her than you. You spend entirely too much time here afterall..." A wink accompanied the King's jest and he chuckled softly.

Filix walked into the library quietly, her mind set on finding books on ... well, things that weren't quite darning and embroidery. That and she had been meaning to visit Pappila, but when the chambers were found empty, this was the first and safest area to look.

She smiled happily, her eyes first landing on Pappila and Eirnae. She was right then, they were here! Filix made her way in that direction, and spotted Cervus as well, Filix bowing her head as she called a greeting to him first.

Then Filix turned to Pappila, and grinned. "Looking for more books? I must get more from Gaia for you; maybe we can get a private library just for you."

Her eyes darted in the direction of Aesculus, Filix's grin growing as she waved to him as well. Was he ... hiding?

He stops in his tracks, feeling something like a thief caught red-handed. What was he to do? Did Cervus know? Surely if he did he'd skin his hide as well as his Kithain had... only she had been absent from exacting any more guilt trips on him due to her pregnancy. As he turned, his face warmed into a smile that seemed to border on being faux.

"Oh, why, I didn't want to bother you two..." He wasn't quite sure if the king knew of his illness, and saw how easily his next statement could either crucify or save him. If there was one thing that he loathed, it was a gamble when calculated, logical decisions failed him entirely. "I haven't been in here for nigh on two weeks, my liege." Fighting to keep his worry from his eyes, he smiles again. Perhaps... with the prescence of another he will be saved any embarassment?

"You are too kind to me. The other Fey are just as fine, they just apply themselves in different studies. Equus is a much more educated man in the art of war, although I suppose I traverse this library more than most the others..."

Ah...the King knows his friend well, and deep dark eyes narrow to look Aesculus over critically. "Are you well, old friend? You don't look to be feeling yourself. I remember a time when I'd have to drag you out of this place by your hair! I thought you'd quite love showing so excited a young lady around one of your favorite haunts..."

Cervus smiled at Filix. "Good eve to you Countess, you and your sister are both well I hope?" he asked amicably. His eyes kept returning to little Pappila though, with a glimmer of pride at the toddler's love of books. "And you, little miss, seem to be adjusting quite well. That is a compliment to your caregiving Milady Natenhar..."

Aesculus is slightly ashamed, but he seizes the opportunity to turn the subject in the direction of the two woman in front of them eagerly. What was that old saying... what you don't know wouldn't hurt you? Indeed in most cases he'd call such an idea foolish, but in this case it served his purpose well. Trying to evade his friend's probing questions in their entirety, he turns to Filix.

"Ah, Countess Filix! Your sister seems to want to be in my good graces, for she dropped by my room with a gift the other day. I do fear she won't be doing it again, for I don't think she much cares for my tastes." He chuckles a little, as if there is a hidden joke in it... for he remembers how she reacted towards the tiny mice.

Eirnae chuckles and waves a gloved hand, "No need to address someone such as myself as 'lady', Majesty. Feel free to simply call me Eirnae if you wish. To be honest, I could swear that Pappila is helping me to raise her herself. She's..."

A sharp gasp from Pappila draws Eirnae's attention, who immediately kneels down to place both of her hands on her Fey's shoulders, as she knows pain when she hears it. "Pappila? What is wrong, child?"

No sooner than after Eirnae gets out her words, far too distracted by the possibility that Pappila could be in some kind of pain to notice Filix's entrance, than the moon elf's line of sight is filled by first soft glimmerings of a bluish white light, which quickly flares into a dazzling aura that threatens to engulf the toddler before her.

Pappila shrieks, unable to form any words in her current state. The small Fey crumples to her knees, falling away from her Kithain's hands to the unforgiving library floor, the palms of her hands keeping her from falling further with effort.

"Pappila!" Eirnae cries, her hands searching the glare blindly, clearly not able to see where her Fey is in the midst of all the light. "Pappila, honey, talk to me. Are you alright?"

Cervus reaches to draw Eirnae back. "She is growing, sister Eirnae. It will pain her, but all of us must endure such to pass on into adolescence and then adulthood." He watched with pained eyes, not liking to see the children suffer, but knowing they must to regain what was lost to them a thousand years ago.

The light surrounded and enveloped little Pappila, causing her unimaginable agonies, but it was mercifully short. The light, too bright to look at, finally faded, and where the child once was, a beautiful teen girl of some 15 human equivalent years was sprawled, feeling the exhaustion and remnants of pain of the transformation.

Eirnae also watches with sad eyes until she can no longer, her lids closing out of reflex against the brightness of the light. She is a being accustomed to shadow, able to see clearly in the darkest of nights. This light renders her otherwise perfect vision useless, and in her heart she feels helpless. Not for herself, but for her complete lack of being able to aid Pappila during this time.

When she can look again, Eirnae has to blink several times to refocus her vision. Then she does so a few more times, just to be sure she isn't seeing things. That in itself is enough, and she quickly steps away from Cervus to kneel back down by Pappila, her arms scooping up the Fey who she sees more like a daughter than anything else and cradles the royal blue haired head to her chest. "My dear child... I'm so sorry you had to go through that." Eirnae has always been empathic on a certain level, feeling for those with kind souls who are in pain. Now her eyes fill with tears as she hugs Pappila to her and rocks her as if she were still a toddler.

Pappila is in far too much of a daze to argue being held at the moment, even if the thought crossed her mind, which it had not. She wants to tell Eirnae that she is alright, if a bit sore, but generally alive...at least she thinks so. However, for some reason her lips won't move, her tongue as well. She cannot even really move much either, at least not beyond twitching her fingers some. What is wrong with her?

Aesculus at first stares a little, before he clears his throat and gains his composure. After all, it is not nice to stare, and he ought to be more worried about the girl's feelings than how she appears! Indeed! Is he becoming no better than Rosa, spending time dwelling on the materialistic side of things, the realm of the physical and not the mental?

"If it makes you feel any better, future mage Pappila, there is often the same sort of screaming and fatigue during and after the transformations. I assure you that in a few days you will find yourself strangely adjusted to your new form."
