Currently: With the realization his investigation of Team Rocket will take a lot longer than he originally thought, Ion has decided to stay in Kodo until his objective is complete - whenever that is. He's happily living in a tiny one-bedroom apartment in Camphoreon for the time being while trying to learn more about being a trainer in his spare time, so he can earn a little extra spending money.
Previously:
Newly arrived in Kodo, Ion went first to Sandalwood and then to Camphoreon to research Team Rocket in order to judge whether or not the criminal organization poses a threat to Grande Ile. His trip to the island was intended to be short, but may lengthen indefinitely depending on what he may find or experience.

Ion is a rather small and skinny person, with bright green eyes, medium-length green hair with two longer locks that frame his face, and almost perpetually pale skin that's prone to sunburn if not given a healthy coating of sunscreen before Ion goes outside. He prefers wearing hoodies or sweatshirts where possible, over a t-shirt, and plain pants and sneakers - all adhering to his favored color scheme of green and white with hints of gold. Around his neck is always a chain pendant whose shape is identical to (and obviously smaller than) the end of the staff that's taller than he is.
xxxxPersonality: Soft-spoken, friendly, optimistic, kindhearted, forgiving and appreciative are all good ways to describe Ion. He is quiet and courteous to the point of selflessness, always willing to listen to or help others with a problem, and willing to go completely out of his way to do so. This can make him quite the pushover, as he readily agrees to assist whenever someone needs aid, and could even lead to others using him due to his agreeableness - up to a point.
xxxxDespite being so accommodating, he can and will speak out and stand up for himself or others - the latter much more often than the former - when necessary, and will even move to protect someone from harm regardless of how well he does or doesn't know them. Even if he is wronged he is quick to forgive, and always looks for or points out the good in people no matter what, even if the negatives far outweigh the positives.
xxxxUnderneath all of his optimism and courtesy, however, is hidden a layer of sadness and resignation that rarely, if ever, surfaces in front of others.

xxxxFamily: Mother, father, six older brothers, all of them except one brother currently residing in Grande Ile. Unbeknownst to him, one of his older brothers is currently residing somewhere in Kodo. xxxxHistory: Ion was born the last and youngest son of an overzealous couple, and spent the first few years of his life in Petite Eau before the family uprooted and moved to the nation's capital of Devoirue. His parents had already instilled as much of their intense love for their country into their other children as they possibly could, encouraging them each to join the nation's military to protect their beloved country, while they themselves created a small committee dedicated solely to identifying and researching potential threats to Grande Ile. As Ion grew, he saw his brothers all learning and practicing various fighting techniques in preparation for joining the military one day and assisting his parents with their committee - his oldest brothers having already done so - and wished to do so as well, but it wasn't long after that that Ion was diagnosed with asthma and severely discouraged from most physical activities. While his poor health and limitations bothered him at first, he eventually managed to banish the feelings and focus more on schoolwork while his parents delegated tasks to his oldest brothers. It was also at this time that he began taking violin lessons.
xxxxAs the years passed, it became clearer that the tasks assigned to his brothers could be done by any of them, as the only favorite his parents had was their country. Any task could be done by anyone, as long as it was done - if one couldn't do it, he was substituted with someone else. Ion was given easier tasks that could be completed at home or with minimal physical effort, so as to avoid an asthma attack, but during times of illness when he couldn't complete his assignments, they were given to his brothers instead. Grande Ile's safety and security was of the utmost concern to his parents, which they made perfectly clear - though they also unintentionally made it equally clear that any of their sons could be replaced by another if they didn't or couldn't perform to their expectations. Ion realized this early on, and despite his efforts to not let it bother him, it has weighed heavily on him ever since.
xxxxRegardless of his feelings towards his parents' managerial skills, with each assignment given to him Ion devoted himself fully to accomplishing it, believing sincerely in working to protect his homeland. After turning seventeen, Ion was given a special assignment: Go to Kalos to investigate Team Flare and judge if it would be a threat to Grande Ile or not. He went gladly, but was wary of being so far from home by himself, and so before anything else, he registered as a trainer and chose a starter pokemon - a Fennekin he named Jozette - and brought her along with him while he researched. His investigation didn't take all that long, just a month or two, and he returned to Grande Ile with a full report. He spent the next few months doing minor assignments at home and working with Jozette, and finally received his next large assignment a scant two months before his eighteenth birthday: Travel to Kodo this time to investigate whether or not Team Rocket posed a threat to his homeland. He gladly accepted and departed immediately, arriving in Makko and traveling through Sandalwood - stopping to see the sights and talk to people for a few days - before finally arriving in Camphoreon. A few months passed before it became perfectly obvious that this assignment would take a lot longer to complete than his previous one, and so Ion leased a tiny apartment in the city to live in for the duration of his investigation.

xxxPersonality: Jozette is very protective, almost motherly at times, and does her best to take care of Ion, who she believes couldn't live without her. Apart from assisting her trainer, she enjoys battling, and still thinks wistfully on the life she could have had battling around the Kalos gym circuit. She doesn't mind her current life though, and is very happy to be with Ion and feel so important and cherished. Strangers are a different story though, and are generally treated with suspicion or, at the very least, a healthy dose of caution that isn't too hard to get past. Once someone does, she's generally pretty easy to get along with.
xxxHistory: Born and raised to be a starter pokemon for some lucky trainer, Jozette was instilled with an excitement for battling at a very young age. Someday she would be chosen, and she and her new trainer would battle every gym in Kalos before heading to the elite four, and become the champions! Alas, her dreams were dashed when she was chosen by a foreigner who picked her over the other types specifically because of her large ears - criteria she thought very strange at the time, but soon after understood the importance herself. Her new trainer suffered from some illness she didn't quite understand, but she did know it inhibited his breathing at times, and especially at night while he slept. It became her job to listen at night in case it affected him, and to wake him up if so. She took her new job very, very seriously, knowing that keeping her charge safe was much more important than battling for fun, though that didn't stop her from wishing she could have at least challenged a few gyms.
xxxIt wasn't long after being chosen that Ion took her to his home country of Grande Ile, somewhere that seemed in some ways similar and in other ways very different from Kalos, and there she got the opportunity to practice battling the various Growlithe that his brothers worked with. It wasn't quite the same, but it still sated her desires for battle. She evolved soon after that.

xxxPersonality: His prior timidness and fright disappeared once his wing healed, and now Albiore is brash, self-confident, and prone to bragging once in a while. He frequently talks of how he could leave the small group and be wild again, as if he's seriously considering doing so, but he has yet to actually leave, and they all wonder if, deep down, he really doesn't want to anymore.
xxxAnd they would be right; Albiore has learned that being part of a group offers him a great deal more protection than being by himself as he once was, and is loathe to give that up to be more vulnerable again. He talks big, especially while hiding behind someone bigger than he is, but if a situation looks too serious then he's the first to flee to higher ground until things settle down. Jozette is trying to break him of this bad habit, but thus far hasn't had any luck.
xxxHistory: To say Ion caught Albiore would only be half-true; while he did indeed find the Pidgey in the wild and contain him within a pokeball, it wasn't through battle or a lucky catch, but to protect the little bird from an early fate as a mid-morning snack for a hungry Sneasel. A quick trip to the pokemon center eased the Pidgey's fatigue, though his wing took a little longer to fix, but the nurses succeeded in setting the broken limb and wrapping it up to facilitate proper healing. It didn't take too long to heal, and even after recovering the Pidgey opted to remain with Ion rather than go back into the wild.

xxxPersonality: Where Jozette and Albiore are loud, outspoken and strong-willed, Yulia is more like Ion: Calm, quiet, curious, and kind. New to the group as she is, she likes all of them a great deal already and enjoys spending time with them, or simply sitting in companionable silence. To those she's unfamiliar with she behaves similarly, preferring to believe they're kind and mean no harm, though she's not so naive as to believe everyone's intentions are benign. She becomes serious and determined when situations sour, and while she prefers to avoid conflict, she will fight if the situation calls for it. Friendly casual battles are another thing entirely, and she will engage in them willingly and may even enjoy them, depending on the battle.
xxxHistory: Yulia appeared before Ion one day - literally appeared out of no where, thanks to Teleport - and collapsed in a frightened heap. A young trainer had set out to capture her, but had used multiple pokemon at once to do so. Unwilling to let such behavior continue, Ion put himself between the offending pokemon and the injured Ralts to prevent further injury to her, and once the situation had been handled he brought her to the nearest pokemon center to be tended to. He was content to leave it at that, but Yulia had other plans. Intrigued by this kind human who protected her without hesitation, had healed her wounds and expected nothing in return, Yulia decided to go with him to someday return the favor, as well as a desire to see for herself the depths of his kindness.
